Bakassi never belonged to Nigeria. It has always been a part of Cameroon ever since the Germans colonised them. The surveyor general's map used at the time was presented as evidence.

A court judgement from the ICJ has ordered Nigeria to clear off the region.

THIS IS ONE OF THE WAYS WE CAN TELL YOU KIDS THE TRUTH SO YOU DO NOT EMBARRASS US MORE THAN OUR FATHERS HAVE IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.
What do you think would have happened if Nigeria did not submit to the jurisdiction of the ICJ under Article 59 of the Charter ? Would Nigeria have ceded the peninsula.

Historically who are the inhabitants of that peninsula from time immemorial? Do you strongly believe that any demarcations by a foreign body under customary international law is strong enough to take ownership from the original owners of a portion?

We did not argue strongly or took people who did not quite understand the historical antecedents coupled with emerging trends in international law to the Hague. Obj goofed.

Blue3k:
Its funny how these people are suddenly a priority because of oil. They been ignored four years by the state abd federal government unless there's elections. Im guessing the governor is subtly alluding to Bakassi situation. Anyway lets hope the search produces positive results for everyone involved.

Facts about the island:
Only 1 dilapidated school that serves primary 1-6.
Expecting mothers deliver babies in Benin Republic.
No acess roads
No electricity
No market

Update: Unlimitk
If what you have stated up there is true, then there should be a referendum to enable the people decide where they want to be. I mean how can the people access health facility from Benin Republic and you suddenly wake up to their acquisition just because of oil deposits. The mere thought of that justification insults the sensibilities of right thinking men and women. It is the same with Bakassi. No body cared about them until Cameroun showed interest, then a local government was quickly built there and some government presence started being felt. In the final analysis, should Benin Republic show interest, Nigerians should ensure they do not submit to the ICJ. It is the same mistake that led us into losing Bakassi. We should not submit to the jurisdiction of the ICJ in determining ownership. I have said my own finish

That's even going far. I have a friend around a location called Olambe in ogun state. You need to see the hausa settlement in that environment . I told my friend to leave that place knowing that if there is any conflagration, I don't see him escaping. The topography is terrible, only the abokis ride bikes, do all sorts of jobs and seem to know the place like the back of their hands. Meanwhile every night trailers are dropping unknown men at Berger on the express. These guys disappear into various locations. We are watching.

Biafraod:
Senator Elisha Abbo, who was caught on camera slapping a woman at an adult toy shop got into a heated argument with Senator Remi Tinubu, a member of the ad hoc committee set up to investigate the assault.

inubu had told Abbo that he cannot dictate the procedures the committee is supposed to adopt, saying: “Do you want us to protect you, or do you want us to defend you, or you want to be on your own?” “Off that mic and let me finish,” Tinubu said, adding: “Do you realise that the Senate when we constitute this, whatever the law gives, we can also suspend you.” Abbo cuts in, saying: “I will not seat and let you threaten me with suspension…. I am a senator like you…. You are a senator like me you cannot threaten me with suspension.” Remi Tinubu continued: “Off that mic, you’re digging a hole for yourself. I’m also another woman”
