aloy-emeka: I don't believe Fashola stole trillions. Here's my stand on fashola:
1. Is he performing as a governor: Yes
2. Is he corrupt: I don't know but the hand of Tinubu in his election is enough to make me worry because a snake cannot give birth to a dove.
3. Should we overlook his flaws because he performs: No
4. Is his rift with Tinubu a ploy by the latter to destabilize his government because he is not making his millions again: Yes
5. What is Fashola's greatest mistake: To accept help from the devil. You cannot serve two masters at a time.
6. Is Fashola the best governor in Nigeria: May be or may be not because other governors are doing things in their own capacity. Lagos state has more internal revenue than every other state in Nigeria besides, Fashola is yet to embark on a capital intensive project apart from road repairs which other governors do in their respective state.
7. Why the Hype about Fashola: The Media and other Nigerians who dwell in mediocrity and are appalled by his performance. I will not blame them because the haven't seen a thing like this in a long time. Nevertheless, there is nothing he is doing differently than his Taraba, Enugu and Rivers counterparts.
8. Did Fashola buy the media over: I don't think so.
9. Will I vote for him again: Yes
10. Will I be disappointed if he is found to be a crook: Not really. Well said,it can't be better put. If BRF is not a saint as put,he is human and has certainly made an impact. violent: "Fashola spends 1 trillion naira on shoes every month" "Every morning Fashola eats breakfast worth 300,000 naira" "Lagos state goverment rakes in an estimate of 20 billion naira monthly and 75 percent of it is used in paying Educational levy for BRT's children"
You see? anyone can come up with f.ucking news, if you don't have evidence then shut your friggin mouth and stop rubbing your stupidity on other Nairalanders. You want evidence of what BRT has done so far? take a fcking cab and move around Lagos starting your Journey from Oshodi, i hope before the end of the day, you will be opening another thread. and who gives a flying rat's arse if project are executed at an inflated amount, why not direct your energy to states where projects are not carried out at all and yet reported as completed. . . I present to you the ol' Oyo empire as an appropriate case study. If someone has done his job to ease to suffering of the masses, even though he didnt initiate the project, the right thing to do is put your dirty hands together and clap for him, and if you can't, then shut your fcking mouth and pretend you don't exist. Let's leave these jobless faceless people who don't have evidence yet run their mouths like broken pit latrines. Yet they ask us to show projects carried out by BRF as if they are blind bats that go about the streets of lagos with their eyes inside their back pockets |

Politics › Is Yar'adua, Nigeria's Worst Leader So Far ? by hatch(op): 4:45pm On Feb 01, 2010 |
Yar'adua may go down Nigeria's book of history as probably the worst leader we have heard so far. Contrary to Nigerians expectations when he proclaimed to be a leader that believed in the rule of Law and the Constitution. Certainly his selection and emergence as the Nigerian President has been anything to write home about and his rather slow and sluggish approach to issues when he was still in control shows that his nickname as "Baba Go-Slow" was an understatement. Definitely, his health records is rather a "No Go Area" Considering the fact that only one man can be plagued with kidney, heart, brain and skin issues speaks a lot. But his outright defiance of the constitution climaxes the fact that our dear Umaru will go down our history books as Nigeria's worst president. Abacha, Babangida and Obasanjo may be trailing miles behind but as it stands its only a matter of time before we know exactly which direction to go as luck and time seems to be running out for the Cabals puppet. It may be to early to judge if Yar'adua is the worst leader we've had but lets look at issues critically. What more evidence do you need to conclude that Yar'adua's the worst thing that ever happened to Nigeria. |

Beaf: “It’s going to be much, much worse, because people are angry,” says Okah. While MEND units focused their energies on oil production in the Cross Rivers States, it has now sent out 100 separate militant groups of 50 men in each group. “Kidnapping will still happen, but it will escalate. They will carry out attacks on land as well, and take the fight to the government. Officers will be targeted. Soldiers will be targeted. Police stations will be targeted. They will even go to the big hotels to kidnap people.”
The idea is to stretch the Nigerian Army’s capacity to fight and control territory.
“Even if they brought in 100,000 troops, it will be impossible to control an area the size of Scotland,” says Okah. “If we have mobile units of 50 men who are here today, and there tomorrow, how can they stop it? The Tamil Tigers [in Sri Lanka] fought for territory and to hold territory. We are blowing up oil pipelines in the middle of nowhere.”
“We actually control what Nigeria exports," chuckles Okah. "And there is nothing the Nigerian government can do about it.”

Sunny_bobo: Seventy days after his hurried departure from his palatial presidential villa on an apparent medical emergency to Saudi Arabia, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, is ‘embarrassed and tired’ of the political schism in the country occasioned by his inability to function effectively as president.
Based on his delicate state of health, which has allegedly continued to nosedive, he wouldn’t have wasted another second throwing in the towel and returning to the country to be president of his ‘family and home.’ But it is the last thing the inner circle of hawks who have held him hostage since his presidency began would want to hear: he must be president till his last breath.
A dependable source who is also closely linked to the president sensationally revealed to Daily Sun that Yar’Adua is under no illusion that his presidency “has been severely damaged and may be as good as being over.” He explained that with the call by eminent Nigerians, including second republic president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari and his deputy, Vice-President Alex Ekwueme; notable figures like Gen. Yakubu Danjuma, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, another former military head of state; Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, amongst a long list of others, for his temporary stepping aside for an acting president to take over the reins of power, the president has become more physically and psychologically drained.
In his words: “The man is sick and tired of what has been going on. He doesn’t believe the presidency should be a matter of life and death. In his heart of hearts, he knows his presidency is over, that he can’t continue as president. But they won’t let him be. They won’t let him do what he truly wants to do.”
http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/feb/01/national-01-02-2010-01.htm Oga Umaru, don't mind them Jare. The Presidency is a do or die affair, after all OBJ himself confessed this back in 2007 during your campaign. |

Why don't we behave like civilized human beings and discuss politics here. I have even noticed that some of the people I enjoy reading their posts have been isolated for some time now due to all the hate and anger pouring out here. @real4life Thank you for your wise attempt to restore sanity. The fact is that most of the babies on NL just love to easily start religous bashing and raising un necessary sentiments on threads. I simply tried to point out the fact that the clain by the original poster was totally false when he tried to raise the theory that the present absence of the president was OIC related. |

davidylan: First of all let us clarify this nonsense that what we have in Nigeria is "religious crisis" . . . what we have is ISLAMIC CRISIS! No other religions, be they christianity, atheism or animists have a problem co-existing with each other. We have not heard of ifa priests going on rampage with Sango worshippers . . . ONLY MUSLIMS go on violent rampage in Nigeria.
Everyone is tolerant of each other . . . except muslims. I think that is the issue you should address . . . ask yourself why ALL the religious crisis in nigeria occur ONLY in the muslim dominated north. We have people of "different faiths" everywhere else . . . we dont hear such bloodcurdling violence from them. Something is wrong with islam! @ davidylan Save us all the stories. I have saved myself some stress by highlighting some important points that will prove that you are one violent aggreaved individual. You sometimes take these things to personal and i am interested in seeing where it will lead you. As i have already stated i am not a muslim but live and work in Yemen. Which shows that atleast the level of tolerance there is enabling for me to reside and feel free. But i wonder what the world will be if it was packed with narrow minded people like you that believe that they should blame islam for all the troubles and shortcomings in their life. Your rage and anger towards Islam is pathetic but laughable. |
