I thought the issue is over?
Leave her na.

Some people are just sick and just enjoy to stroke the fire.

If it's not that she's seriously not okay, issue that has been trashed and everyone has moved on, she's bringing up and asking people to "hang themselves".

Na she go first commit suicide oh.

On Jumayin's question

This is my second pregnancy on this thread and I avoid issues like this but somethings are just hypocritical.

The mama asked a question and people gave her an answer. Too many people may have responded there by over flogging the issue but what they said is not bad.

You see sometimes the truth needs to be said without mincing words, that doesn't make it harsh.

These mamas have not done wrong in my opinion. Jumayin posted only one reason for CS. Which if you must be honest sounded very unnecessary.

After Jumayin thanked them for their contribution before going on to say that there were other reasons and that she felt bad at the tone of the messages. All we needed to do as a family is assure her that that was not the intention, it was merely a wakeup call.

To now turn around to face mamas who responded is not just wrong but hypocritical. You think jumayin will love you more or is there an award to be recieved here.

I will admonish us to stand together in truth and not spread unnecessary bitterness among mothers on this thread.

By the way if my post offends you, it is not for this purpose. If you are not convinced just blame it on the hormones grin please let's stay in love.
Very well said. God bless you.

Mummies,

Honestly, I'm so surprised to see some mummies taking offence at Helovesme's response. Her response was appropriate, honest and objective. She replied based on the initial information supplied by Madam Jum ayin. I saw nothing remotely close to "insensitivity" in her response. Neither in Madam onebgai's.

The bond among you women is awesome but let's not forget that the primary objective of this thread is to LEARN, to gather INFORMATION and I believe that's what Madam ayin wanted and that's exactly what Madam Helovesme gave without sugarcoating it. How was she to know the whole story when the "teller" only said they are opting for a procedure because of "hand shooking". Her response was borne out of LOVE for Madam ju, atleast from my own perspective, maybe that's 'cause I'm a man and I know zilch about the workings of your bodies.

The fact that it escalated to this level is quite disheartening. I've seen Mamas throwing subtle jabs at her and it's not cool. I respect her maturity, she tried her best to ignore the ad hominem attacks.

I beg all the mummies involved to take things easy and forget the whole thing. If you believe her response was insensitive, E ma binu. Ndo. Please, let this thread continue to burn with LOVE for one another.

Sorry for my epistle.

Onegai:
For me, I feel it is better to be prepared. You see, I have quite a few medical people in my house (seriously, if you need to talk to a specialist, come to my house. Whichever type of doctor you want, with plenty experience, they are there). And those doctors, when they were treating me, always sounded harsh. I used to resent it and think "why can't you guys be nice?". So I said it to them and they allowed me go and experience Nigerian Healthcare system without the benefit of their protection. I am the one that carried my medical results back to them with tears in my eyes, begging.
The same thing happened when I gave birth: because they were not there, I was left to the mercy of strangers who had to do a job. And I was unprepared because I didn't ask the tough questions and didn't know what to expect because I didn't want to alarm myself. I found myself in postnatal depression after birth, confused, crying and refusing to pick up Baby E, refusing to talk to anyone. My mum had to get them on the phone to talk to me and help me.

Don't be afraid. Yes, this all sounds scary but now you know. And you can be prepped. If I were you, I'd start working out, eating well. Surgery needs a healthy body to bounce back faster. Now, you can say you want to speak to the surgeon or OB going to do your CS, share your concerns, ask questions. I assure you he/she will appreciate it (my siblings are much nicer to patients who come in knowing something) and you can even ask your instinct "do I trust this doctor, is he sounding capable and experienced?"

During antenatal, my Gynae prescribed Lexotan (a sleeping pill) for every mother who complained they couldn't sleep. 6 out of them swallowed it without even knowing the name or checking. I was the only one who said "this is a Category D drug, please could you review my file, because I'm not sure I should". 4 hours later she called me and asked me not to take the meds. That's the difference between Ignorant Bliss, Giving into Fear and Armed with Knowledge.

You can do all you can to be prepared beforehand and pray to God. Or you can avoid knowing anything
You've said majority of the things that have been on my mind. God bless you.

I remember being upset that nobody on this thread at the time had discussed the pain experienced after c-section. I had read so many birth stories and I had not seen anywhere the recovery pains were mentioned.

If there was anything, i really wish i was prepared before I had my CS. I wish i had discussed that birth option with my consultant/midwife to at least have an idea of what to expect should emergency CS come in. Instead i was fixated with water birth, music in the room, birthing positions, etc. I wish i had asked for a copy of the CS consent form and read it thoroughly before hand rather than being handed the consent form seconds before the surgery to ''sign here''.

Anyways, I hope mamas with VBAC or consecutive CS will come here and share the honest experience. I'm keen to read/learn.

Onegai:
Hello everyone. I'd like to ask a question please: how many of you have started reading to your children? What age did you start? Do you have a preference for a type of book (religious, cultural, early learning etc)? Do you know where to find books affordably? Do you think it's important to read to your child or do you hope the creche/daycare does it?

I'm asking because we keep addressing the physical well-being of our children but no-one mentions the mental well-being. And I think we rely a bit too much on teachers whom are (in all honestly) doing that job to cash a paycheck rather than because they want to give your kids the best knowledge.
I started reading to him when he was about one month old. This is because I got a bag of free books from the health visitor. I did this very regularly till he was about 7months. I actually had his books by my bedside so it made it easy to read to him when we are on the bed together.

Amongst his stash of toys are several books. Sometimes he flips through them himself obviously because they are all colourful books and other times I read to him.

He attends nursery and they read to him very often. I have bumped into the baby room unannounced and unexpected to find him cuddled up to one of the nursery staff with a book being read to him. As young as he is, he goes along with other kids on day trips to the library.

Although I do not read to him very often these days (maybe once every other weekend), I'm happy that area is being adequately covered by his nursery.

Mama's please there is something happening here I don't like about Jumayins post I don't like.
She asked a question and was answered appropriately. And I quote her "don't read and pass", a lot of mama's read and passed but a few took it upon themselves to answer her vividly. Why did other mama's not reassure her before she complained about the answers. What if everyone had kept quiet.
Jumayin mama no mama here derives pleasure in making u feel bad but experience and practice have taught plenty mama's here. The truth remains that the first reason u gave for opting out of VB is frivolous at best and mama's here answered you based on ur first post. No one knows what u discussed with your DH. If all mama's start treating serious posts with kid gloves or sugar coating the truth, I wonder if this thread would be as helpful as it has been.
Thanks for your unbiased honesty.

God bless you

Hello mamas. . My house is somewhat noisy due to generators, car horns ettcc.. so I'm thinking of buying earmuffs for my unborn baby to avoid the noise affecting him..
Don't know if this is advisable and wise?
Thanks smiley
I won't worry too much about the noise.

You will be surprised how babies adapt to their natural environment and sleep through the noise.

I have seen babies sleep very soundly during night vigils and very noisy church environment without a care in the world.

You can invest in a very good rechargeable fan. So when the generators are on or you feel the noise is too much, you can shut the doors/Windows and put on the fan when there is no electricity.

Family › Re: Marriage Within Or Outside One's Ethnic Group by helovesme(f): 11:38pm On Aug 29, 2016
babythug:
Love can be a bit tricky; in that the heart doesn't really choose* whom to love, you just find that you are in love with a particular person i.e despite your deep desires of being with someone from your ethnic group you may end up in love with someone from another!!!!

That said it is easier to be in love and end up with someone from the same ethnic group. Differences and issues may* be easier to manage seeing that the couple may/should have the same orientation as regards general issues. But then again as long as one isn't from the same family there will always be differences as per outlook to life and opinions and general relations so i guess it's more important to focus on the individual and character beyond ethnicity.

My two cents!

This seems an interesting topic, lemme invite some people to the discourse.
It's just not worth the hassle and the friction. grin Too many tribal bigots in nigeria. grin There will always be that one person that would stand against the union or bring up issues.

It's always best to marry from one's ethnic group. If there's any issue, we can easily drag ourselves to the Aalafin's palace and speak the same language grin

How do you people write so well Abi na the course wey una study for uni? Abeg teach me
Ayam serious ooo
AlphaHandMaiden, Onegai make una help your sister.
Hahahaha. It's super easy. The course I studied has little to do with how I write.

The key tips are:

1) type your sentences in full. No abbreviations. No "text speak".
2) use punctuation marks throughout
3) split your post into paragraphs as it makes it a lot easier to read
4) minimise the use of pidgin English and slangs
5) just type out your thoughts
6) do not apologise for any "long" posts grin

Pls help me!!!!

Sabi mamas I hail o pls I gave birth 10days back thru cs. My baby cldnt latch immediately due to inverted nipple. Right now nipple is out but I hardly produce 2 tablespoon of milk. Am really worried cos my baby has been on formula since day 2. Wat else can i do to make me lactate? I have drank hot pap, hot foods, using pregnacare for breastfeeding mums, tried expressing too.
Please dont read and pass help a sister here.
You are doing all the right things. Continue and do not stop.

However, you need to keep breastfeeding your baby. After feeding her formula, put your nippleee in his mouth and allow him suck. Do this between meal times as often as possible. This will help stimulate milk production.
