mompurity2:Using 1:30, you are already a scoop less so please do not go a scoop less any further. If you read the instructions, you will notice that you are already a scoop less than what's stated on the pack. Finish this carton then and switch to another brand. I do not think bottles are responsible for constipation although I do agree that some teats are better than others. Read online on how to correctly hold a bottle while feeding babies. There's a technique that ensures your babies aren't sucking on air. The bottle must be tilted to ensure the teat is full of milk whilst your babies are sucking. |
mompurity2:Your doctor will check their weight and then decide if they are fit enough to be circumcised. So check with your doctor. Ask for the "ring" method of circumcision as this is the modern method of circumcision and causes the least discomfort. Since you are giving them warm water and they are still constipated, try going a scoop less when preparing their formula. If no changes, then maybe you should switch formula. I think liftedhands has mentioned here that SMA gold was best for her son. For me, I have used aptamil from birth till date. |
raptor2 Your baby is pretty Please stop the use of pillows. As part of the safe sleeping guide, pillows are an absolute NO-NO whether or not they are marketed for "new borns". Pillows are known to increase the chances of SIDs. Newborns have zero neck control and should anything come in their face to hinder their breathing, they are unable to turn their face away. If you want to elevate her head, then place the pillow beneath the mattress. There are many links online shedding more light on safe sleeping. Personally, I won't use a pillow till baby is over one year old. http://www.netmums.com/baby/baby-health-and-advice/pillow-safety-for-babies

baby8, congratulations dear. your testimony is permanent in Jesus name. Amen. The devil will not steal your joy. Keep rejoicing and do not let songs of thanksgiving cease from your lips. Sending lots of e-hugs to you. |
mitchyy:Erm. Since you delivered via CS, your Vijay should remain as it was. That's usually one of the consolations for CS mamas. In exchange for our scars, we do not have to go through kegals and the rest to tighten down below and sex is usually as it was if not better. Don't tell me that during your vaginal examination the doctors were inserting their fists into your vjay. I only had 2 vaginal examinations and it was strictly with fingers. Maybe you should try sitz baths. |
mompurity2:Liftedhands is spot on oh Premie, baby, toddler and even adult - metholatum or silverbird has no business in their bath water. Both must never come in contact with the eyes. If you must add anything into your baby's water, then it should be few drops of dettol or savlon. The only reason for adding anything to a bath water is to kill any bacteria or germs. Dettol/savlon does the job. Silverbird is basically eucalyptus oil and it must be used with care in babies. Some people even insist it should not be used in babies under 3 months. Personally, below or above 3 months, it must NEVER be used in any form (on the baby's head for example) undiluted because that oil is very stronggggg. As an adult, inhale it and see for yourself. The only reason why eucalyptus oil or metholatum should be used is to ease the discomfort associated with cold in babies. Always super dilute with coconut oil or olive oil ( any 'carrier' oil). With eucalyptus oil, use sparingly as a little goes a long way. With metholatum, get the one specifically formulated for babies as some are milder than others(see attached picture and link). Metholatum is best applied mildly on baby's feet, chest, back and sides to ease any discomfort associated with cough/cold in babies. http://www.snufflebabe.co.uk/snufflebabe-range/vapour-rub/?gclid=CjwKEAjwudW9BRDcrd30kovf8GkSJAB3hTxFoRQyKIcCLZvtycMvqOvX5CM_LCybz3KFj0Vry_VVHxoCVarw_wcB

Favouredmom I got it online from Amazon. You should be able to get it from any store where medical suppliers/equipment are sold. The bath seat has rubber suction at its base which makes it very safe to use in a bath tub. It's also easy to remove from the bath tub once you are done or it can remain in the bath tub. Just to share with other mums, Amazon is a great online store to shop for baby items and get ideas/inspirations on various baby items. Even if you do not know the exact name of what you are looking for, just type in a few keywords and you will be amazed by the various items that come up - some of whom you never knew they existed. All you have to do is take a screenshot and then go to any good market with your phone and show them the item you are looking for. Amazon is also a very good site for getting real customer reviews on various products. These reviews are very handy as you get the good, bad and ugly and they help you in making an informed decision before buying on whether or not a particular product is suitable for your needs/your baby's needs. |
AlphaHandMaiden:Your comments in red had me giggling and you are spot on. I sent the bath set I bought right back and requested for a refund. I adopted the "joko and souvenoir bucket" style from day one thanks to my mum. Those bath tubs/sets just take up unnecessary space in the house/bathroom. I see no need for them if there's a bathtub or shower room. I did get a bath seat though. Very useful, long lasting, comfortable and sturdy when compared to wooden "ijoko". Liftedhands - I didn't see a baby bouncer in your list. That item is very useful as you can place baby on it safely whilst busy with other things and move it around the house. It's also useful for taking baby's pictures. ![]()

Ladivva. Let me refer to a post I made earlier this year on this issue of prenatal vitamins. helovesme: |
iomoge2:Suzy That's the drug I was given. It was just 2 tabs taken right there at the hospital. It relieved me small though. |
iomoge2:To slap them dey hungry me ![]() |
suzy:I suffered from similar pain whilst pregnant. Mine was a one-off though. What led to it was that I had over worked my body. I had taken several long walks that day. I went to the hospital and I my cervix checked. The doc said it was closed so it wasn't a case of premature contractions. I was given 2tabs of pain relievers. Can't remember the name (starts with a "d" but it didn't really relieve me. What worked for me was 3 days strict bed rest. The only thing I did was go to the loo and return back to the bed. In addition to the bed rest, I took paracetamol and after that I was fine. |
raptor2, your story brought tears to my eyes. Indeed we serve a miracle working God. Congratulations. Lots of e-Hugs! That your gynaecologist sure knows his onions and God really used him. |
kokosheen:Buhari needs to get rid of the CBN governor ASAP. it's been one failed policy or another. One reversal or another. He should weild his executive powers and get the dude removed. WTF!! After all, the dude was appointed by uncle Jona. I'm just sick and tired of all these his "trial and error" economic policies. |
These kids do not look happy AT ALL. |
^^^^^ lmaooooooooo @ the two mums above me. ![]() Baby rice isn't that bad na. Have you tried baby muesli? That one tastes like dried wood. my son spat it out the very first time he tried it and till date I'm still stuck with two packs. I'm thinking of using my blender to grind it to very powdery form and see if he likes it or may be I will just wait till he's a little older and then try again. With baby rice, it was a hit for about two months once he began solids and then he got bored of it. It's still a part of his diet but I mix it with his other favourite cereals ( creamy banana porridge and the likes). Another combo that works well with baby rice is mashed very ripe banana+formula. Yummy ![]() |
The kids look very unhappy. |
Kockane:The bolded should be your main concern and any action you take, should be centered around this. I'm sure you do not want to lose your job or face any disciplinary action over this issue. You do not know what card the loan sharks are going to play. They might end up presenting your cheques to the bank knowing fully well they might not be honoured. You can be accused of issuing a dud cheque and they can make a formal complaint to the police or EFCC. Imagine a scenario where the police or EFCC comes to your workplace accusing you of issuing a dud cheque? It will definitely get to your superiors and you will be suspended even before you are given any opportunity to clear your name. Do you know the implications of a bank employee issuing a dud cheque? Even if you are given the opportunity to clear your name, how will you explain to your superiors that you stood in as a guarantee/issued blank cheques to a loan shark for a senior colleague? How will you justify/explain the bounced cheques? Why do you think your colleague absconded? He knows fully well that the bank will get to know sooner or later about his level of indebtness (when his creditors start visiting the banking premises). So he's better off absconding. I won't be surprised if he's also indebted to the bank too. Thank goodness he hasn't defrauded any customer (or maybe he has and that is yet to come to light). The best thing to do is look for money and pay off the loan sharks. If you've a mistake and you are already in the mess. Get yourself out rather than digging yourself further into the mess. Hopefully, when the guy is all settled in US, he will contact you and offer to refund your money back to you (dollars is about 400naira now). All he needs is a job (that is, if he has the right to work in the US or if he can get a job as an illegal immigrant) and he should be able to pay off his debts if he's actually serious about paying them off. |
bamosagie:You are right. It's too risky. The data centre is the core of their business model so I do not understand why they should outsource that. That said, it's an interesting business model. It will be interesting to see how it works and how successful (or not) it will be. |
Hmm. Kockane If you work in a financial institution, I will advice you go and read your employee handbook as well as the terms and conditions of your employee contract. A lot of bank workers do not know this but I am 100% sure that this clause is contained in most employment contracts for bank workers. With some financial institutions, staff are prohibited from standing as guarantors or sureties or pratonising loan sharks (non regulated financial institutions). The loan company might be aware of this and would want to threaten you by informing your employer. Once your employer gets involved and HR is informed, you can as well kiss your job goodbye. This is one of the reasons why these loan sharks find bank workers attractive. They are aware of this clause and they are almost certain that once you are made aware or they threaten to involve your employer, you will cough the money up. They are going to keep turning up at your bank and if you are not careful, that alone is a potential red flag with your employers. I will advice you to contact the loan sharks, negotiate with them, agree on a repayment plan and stick to it. It's a lesson learnt. You are better off paying the debt than losing your job. |
fiizznation:I completely agree with you. He is the worst CBN governor we've had in the last decade. It's a pity that the post of CBN governor involves the House of Parliament. If buhari removes him using executive powers, the people from the east will tag him all sort of name. All that man is doing is just "trial and error" with nigeria's economy. I really wish he can be replaced. He's nothing but a complete disaster and another of GEJ's shameful legacies. |
Alexandro15:He wasn't expelled oh. He said he didn't receive the "calling" and decided not to proceed to priesthood. He however insists that the seminary made him the man he is today and he won't trade the experience for anything. He also insists that all his kids must attend the seminary - whether or not they decide to go into priesthood. |
Ademola Adegoroye. . . . Contesting for one election or another since 1890. forever flooding Ondo state with one poster or another. Serial contestant. ![]() My candidate of choice is tunji light ariyo. He's young and innovative with an impressive CV. I think he will shake things up positively in Ondo state. Rotimi Akeredolu is another candidate with promise. |
APCHaram:You are right. A friend of mine that was an ex-seminarian once told me that it was in the seminary that he was taught how to masturbate and he became a chronic masturbator. |
Julianah42:It's easy. You buy one and just urinate on it. Some come with a small "pot". So you urinate inside the pot and then dip in the test strip. In summary, buy one and follow the instructions on the leaflet ![]() |
mydreams25:I cannot over stress the importance of folic acid. It's essential for your unborn baby. Please google "spina bifida" and read up on it. Mums-to-be are advised to start taking folic acid at least 3 months before they conceive. Yes, that's how seriously doctors/hospitals that know their onions take folic acid supplements seriously. If you cannot take the folic acid with diluted Ribena or cup of milo, then insert it inside eba or tuwo and swallow it. http://www.fpa.org.uk/planning-pregnancy/folic-acid

customised87:Same here too oh. Although I had follow up home visits from the midwives (visits are basically to check baby but they also use the opportunity to check my tummy) until the stitch was removed by one of them at home. I have a few friends that also left the hospital early after CS. So I do not think discharging a mum 24hours after CS is a sign of bad hospifal care. If mum and baby are certified fit and she agrees to be discharged, I do not see any reason why she should remain in the hospital. |
I do like his songs. One of my favourite Nigerian artists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6XFaCGcQf0 |
ginababy:My dear, why na? Doctor prescribed 5ml so why reduce it? For the doctor to have prescribed both ear drops and antibiotics for a baby that young , it means on checking your baby's ears there was a lot of pus/discharge. Please stick to your doctor's prescription of 5ml. Also ensure you complete the total number of days you've been asked to administer the antibiotics. It's important to effectively administer the antibiotics as this will ensure the infection is totally gotten rid off and also prevent further future complications. Eg. Partial deafness. |
osas4g:Give her warm water. You can also apply metholatum on her chest, back and sides. There are mild metholatum for babies so look for one. However, if the cough is "chesty", please take her to the hospital to see the doctor. He will check/listen to her breathing and ask certain questions and then decide whether or not she needs mild antibiotics. |
Some of the dolts commenting have no idea what "force majeure" means or its impact on oil production. |
