LekwachiJJ: Masters Study permit Applied since 11 May Biometrics since 23 May Medical passed 28 August ElIgibility passed 13 September Original passport request 18 September Updated bank statement requested and submitted 9 October No response since!!! My passport kept for almost 2 months. Meanwhile online status shows background check in process and conclusion: "Application approved, send us your passport to conclude processing" Any one with passport held like this? This doesn't make sense. Haven't you been tracking the passport after submitting at vfs? |

Asapant: Henricson. Those african airlines you listed are also international airlines. Perharps you wanted to say compared to European or Asian airlines. Ok oh. They are cheaper since they are based in Africa |

Elizkemi: Hi guys, to those that travel (to Canada/ USA) alot, what's your advice on booking the cheapest flight to canada to take off on the 13th of November?
What airline won't be too expensive and then what route. Should the booking be double stops or just a single stop or a direct flight will be cheaper?
I need answers please. No insults. From my little experience, African airlines are cheaper compared to international airlines. Check Ethiopian airlines, Royal Airmaroc and Egyptair. Best time to check is 1am downwards. It's also best to use not more than 2 stops to avoid you losing your connecting flights especially when the next flight is in a different airport. But from what I hear direct flights are better but mostly expensive. |

makano: Hello Peeps, Just stumbled on this. This are the list of accredited Physicians by CIC. Children Practice isnt there again. What happens to peeps that have already done their medicals there ? This is serious. Only four hospitals in the whole of Nigeria. If I may ask, why can't government hospitals like national hospital, luth, upth, etc be on the list, these are big hospitals who can get required facilities. |

Awuuga: Guysssssssss! My application was just approved!!!!! This is surreal!
I was introduced to this wonderful forum by my mum and I have learnt a great deal since I joined.
#Long Post Alert!
My profile:
•Application submitted on 3rd October 2018 ( Paper Route) • Medical mail after three weeks on 24th October 2018 • Medical exam done on 29th October (IOM Abuja). There wasn’t any opening in Lagos until December for Q-Life & Chidren’s practice. IOM Lagos asked me to come back after two weeks. • Medical exam passed on 2nd November 2018 • Application Approved 9th November 2018 • My application took 6 weeks and some days. ( I consider myself extremely lucky.
Documents Submitted:- • All CIC Forms submitted
My Documents • Letter Of Explanation ( a 7 page well detailed LOE) • I studied Electronics and Communications Engineering and I graduated with a first class degree. • I submitted my Conditional Offer letter from University of Windsor (MEng Electrical and Computer Engineering) Classes resume on May 2019 • I paid half my tuition fees (CAD 14,000) • WAEC result • Transcript • Degree Certificate • Police Clearance Certificate • Occuption Health and Safety Advanced Diploma • Nigeria Society of Engineers Graduate Membership Certificate • Work ID, Employment Letter, Letter of Introduction, 6 months Pay Slip & Letter granting me study leave. • My Statment of Account with about 109,000 naira
Sponsor’s Documents;- • My sponsor was my mum • My Mum’s International Passport & Birth certificate • Brothers’ Birth Certificates • All her letters of promotion • Her 6 months pay slip • An introduction letter from her office • Work ID • Landed Properties (2) • Late Dad’s Shares & Landed properties (3) • Two residential properties valued at 71 million naira by a licensed surveyor. One of the buildings is rented, it also shows a steady source of income • I used my Mum’s company account. I’m also a director of the company. • Company Registration Documents • 3 years tax receipt. • Company’s Statement of Account had a closing balance of a little over 12million naira • My mum’s personal statment of account with 8,000 US dollars • Her salary account with about 450,000 naira.
Home Ties:- • My mum and Siblings • Landed properties I had to come back to inherit • My job. ( Study Leave) • My Certificate from Nigeria Society of Engineers • My Certificate from Occupational Health and Safety Advanced Diploma • My directorship in my mum’s company
I saw how long the applications took so I decided to apply very early so as to avoid having to defer. Also to have enough time to take a step back and restrategise in case of a denial.
P.S I have not received the introduction letter yet. Please does anyone know how long it takes? Must I receive it before I go and pickup my passport?
I want to say thank you to Frankrobbn1 for his patience and answers to my questions, also Jnyuwa02 ( we never interacted but your contributions helped me a lot). My boss Kylexy1, thank you for your help. I appreciate you. Thank you to every other person that has contributed on this wonderful forum. I have learnt from you all one way or the other.
I pray that the grace of speed that worked for me, will visit all the TRV hopefuls. Keep the faith strong guys. To those yet to submit, put up an airtight application and pray. The God that did it for me will do it for you too. You'll receive it once passport has been appended with counterfoil in your package at vf |

Frankrobbn1: Hello Adedayo, sorry to hear you're unable to access your inbox messages. Nevertheless, I'll post my reviews here.
Having gone through your SOP, I have the following to say:
1-) Your passion for your proposed program was extensively expressed and the manner in which you linked your current job role and past experiences with your intended program is great.
2-) Why the program in broadcast journalism is too lengthy. Please reduce it as it can bore the visa officer. It should be concise and focus on a few key points.
3-) The sub-heading where you discussed about WHY CANADA NOT NIGERIA was well substantiated and convincing.
4-) Your reasons for coming back is not so strong. More practical and logical reasons should be highlighted and not surface reasons which you gave. There was this particular area where you mentioned about your NYSC and how you deployed just to stay close to your family is not relevant and I have scrapped it off. Talk more about your parents properties which you're traditionally heir to as you did and must return home after studies to continue managing, discuss about the obligations and responsibilities which falls on you as the only son and why you will be coming back to continue discharging your duties and can't abandon them for a foreign education, your family business (if any), your career prospects in Nigeria etc... All these mentioned can be your unwavering commitments back home.
5-) In every SOP, you are expected to talk about your finances, who is your sponsor? Who will be responsible for your expenses while studying in Canada should also be explained.
6-) You also did not make reference to your school of choice in Canada, what facilities does the college in Canada offer that has interested you so much to further your postgraduate studies there and not in Nigerian higher institutions.
7-) Finally, I found so many errors (Which includes punctuations, and spellings) while going through the letter and I have corrected them.
Do the needful and resend me the letter for final vetting.
Regards, Frank Baba you too much. |

Coast2Coast: Approval Alert ! I want to thank everyone in this forum. My wife’s SP and son’s TRV just got approved and PPR sent. She’s 40years! Never too late to study. She had BSC sociology (2002) over 16years study gap. Another Bachelor Degree in Public Health, Almighty UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE! Her first ever TRV. I started to follow this group on her behalf since June, but because of some technicalities( about the forms IMM) we opted for an agent. I want to encourage everyone still waiting, Your miracle is on the way. This group helped us a lot and I will always look back. Thanks a lot. Timeline to follow anytime soon. Sweet news! |

Order gcms notes as it's the norm to evaluate VO notes for refusal. |

Brother please I want to ask a question. Still trying to book my flight in December, someone told me to book for round trip and not one way to avoid issues with immigration, is this true? I have never traveled before so I don't know anything. But I noticed round trips are cheaper than one way though. |

Trapping: @Jnyuwa, do you know how many days it will take VAC in Abuja to send someone's passport to Lagos embassy. I ask because I've only 10 days to submit my passport. I've already sent the passport to vAC in Abuja, because I dont want to pay that unnecessary passport transmission fee. 5-10 working days if it's for original passport request. |

Labims: Hi gurus, Kindly assist with this: Graduated with a B.SC in Computer Science 2003. Yet to have any Post Graduate qualification, she has worked for over 13years in Financial Institutions, with over 11 years in the Bank as a Business Development Manager. She is 36, married with a 2 year old daughter. Has travel history(US and UK). Both her and hubby have properties(on mortgage though).plan to take daughter along.
Was able to get Admission into Humber college within 2 weeks of application to study PGC Global Business Management.
Now, talking about putting docs together for the study permit, starting from the Bank statement, being a self sponsor plus husband a co sponsor they currently have their funds in investment accounts and not current account. Though their current accounts are transactional in that they receive salaries as inflows and also withdraw(outflows)
Q1- Can the investment account statements be used for the study permit application or they"'ll need to terminate into current account Q2 - If they have to terminate, how long are the funds expected to be in their current accounts before they can print the statements? Q3-Whats the process for upfront medicals? Is there a specific form to be printed and taken along to the hospital? She live in Lagos. Q4 - Humber has asked she applies for a co-op work permit alongside student permit, at what stage will she do this?
Kindly assist with these enquiries and advise generally considering her profile.
Thank you. I'll answer based on my experience. She can use investment accounts as part of home tie in addition to hubby. I used my treasury bills since I have no land at moment, and didn't have documents to prove that of my dad. But she still needs to have an account showing readily available funds which she will use to sponsor her program. If salary accounts of hubby and herself is sufficient, she can use that and add hubby as co sponsor. Secondly, if you are to terminate, funds should be present having inflow and outflow for at 6months I think. Thirdly, she needs her passport original and photocopy to go do upfront medicals, she'll be given a paper to upload for online application or submit for paper application. Lastly, I also got the co op work permit thing from Humber college, she can apply when she gets the visa and is in Canada. This is what I plan to do also. But in her application she should upload the acceptance letter showing mandatory co op work permit as a proof for work requirement for study. She should also fill this in her questionnaire. I hope this helps... I stand corrected on any information given so fat |

Aside, introduction letter, passport, proof of funds, what other documents can one keep handy to present at port of entry?
Guys, please I need an answer to this question. |

Trapping: @Henricson,
I did my Biometrics in Abuja VAC. If I'm to send my passport there, does it mean I will not include any service charge? What if also I'm to pick up the passport through an appointed representative what happens then.. Please if you can throw just a little more light on the process, because just like everything Canada there processes seem cumbersome.
OR,
Maybe just include the link of the article you cited above so that I can read what's written there. Log on to their site and read it up, http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canadaBut from what I was told at Lagos vfs, no one can pick up your stamped passport, it has to be you. |

Hephzibah2018: You will not need to collect an official work permit (hard copy like your study permit) to work 20hrs/week as a student. Just go to the nearest Service Canada Centre to you and ask to get your SIN number. Go with your international passport and Student permit. As a student with a SIN number, you're allowed to work only those number of hours. Please do not exceed working hours ever. I know better now. Except you mean a type of work permit separate from that which is associated with a study permit. Sorry. . I meant study permit! |
