As an educationist, Bishop David Oyedepo's mission currently pioneers the establishment of educational institutions at all levels in and outside Nigeria, including the recently established Covenant University with over 7,000 students as well as Faith Academy with 1,500 students both located in Canaanland. Covenant university was well documented in a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) documentary on the Nigerian 50th independence anniversary because of landmark achievements in its few years of existence.

Covenant University was adjudged the best private university in Nigeria in 2005 and one of the goals of the institution is to be among the best in the world by or before 2020. According to Bishop Oyedepo, "Covenant University is not just an institution, it is a revolution in education". Faith Academy also placed fourth among Nigerian secondary schools in the 2010 Senior secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).

The second university of the church is Landmark University in Omu Aran, Kwara State. Construction at Landmark university is estimated to be in the realm of about $150 million (N48 billion). The university was licensed in March 2011 and presently ranks among the top 20 of Nigeria’s 170 universities. Landmark University consists presently of 1,400 acres. There are plans for 5 more universities to be constructed across Africa including Kings University, Goshen, Abuja and Crown University, Calabar in Nigeria. Others are in Accra, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo and Nairobi, Kenya. A very expansive 1,000 acres of land have already been acquired for the university in Ghana while 300 hectares (about 750 acres) have been acquired for the Congo university and this is going to be a French speaking university. Some years ago, former President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia appealed to the World Mission Agency (WMA) of the Living Faith Church to build a university in The Gambia.

Some other projects that were announced during the initial foundation laying in Canaanland in 1999 include a towering administrative headquarters and 500 bed hospital among many other projects.

Winners' Chapel also runs a chain of about 20 Secondary schools and over 180 Primary and nursery schools in Nigeria. The secondary schools are known as Faith Academies except those located in within the universities known as Covenant University and Landmark University Secondary Schools respectively. The Nursery and Primary Schools are known as Kingdom heritage Model Schools (KHMS). Some of the secondary schools are located in Badagry, Benin, Warri, Ota, Iyana Ipaja, Ibadan, Lokoja, Asaba, Kaduna and Osogbo. The mission is presently working on plans to build at least a secondary school each in every country in Africa. It also has a Bible School, called The Word of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI); this is the biggest such group in Nigeria with branches in over 50 countries worldwide including the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. As at 2004, WOFBI had trained over 100,000 people all over Africa. WOFBI has 21 campuses in the Lagos Area.

Some other assets of the Church are the including a fixed wing Challenger 604 listed in the Forbes 500. The fleet includes a helicopter. The Church fleet is known as the Dominion Airlines which is used strictly for missionary work and the church has also procured an aircraft Hangar at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The Dominion Aviation Center, a Hangar owned by the church costed about $2.5 million.

The Church also owns Dominion Publishing House, which turns out books and other materials written by David and Faith Oyedepo and David Abioye. Bishop Oyedepo has written over 70 books apart from many also written by Bishop Abioye and Pastor (Mrs) Faith Oyedepo.

With God, intentions really ultimately matters. God cursed Cain for Killing Abel from the wickedness of his heart. That same God vindicated Moses for killing the Egyptian who was oppressing the Israelites.

The Law of God states that "thou shalt not kill" yet David slew thousands and God never said a word. The day David murdered an innocent man and committed adultery, he paid dearly for it. What differentiated all these killings and their varied responses from God was motive.

If a person genuinely in his heart believes that a Private jet amplifies his capacity to preach the gospel then he should go ahead and purchase the jet. The wrong thing would be to buy it to show off or compete or to make such things priority over direct charity. But if you think that private jet in itself is sinful then you are being naive. There's no difference between a private jet and a private car. The same reason a person needs to buy a private car is the same that justifies a private jet purchase.{remember intentions really matters than cost, again, David slaughtered thousands and never got punished, but he killed one man unjustly and paid for it. Buying a bicycle for the wrong reason is in fact worse than buying a private jet for the right reason}




It's amazing but God does not hassle or compete with humans. The bible says in Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them"

Well the church was never meant to give all it collects.

Let me open your brain for you.

We give tithe so that pastors can 'eat' it. Whatever is left, after all the more than 10,000 pastors have been paid, the church is free to give back to society.

My tithe is not an investment in the hand of my Church. My tithe is a sacrifice in God's hands. So therefore I don't expect to be financially or materially blessed by church because I tithed. My demand on blessing is on God.

Tithe is not an Investment but a Sacrifice!

But of course churches do these all the time. People just choose to see what they want to see. And in most cases they prefer seeing jets which emboldens their own greed for not wanting to give. Jets owned by less than 0.1% of pastors in Nigeria becomes their justification.

Would you approach God's judgment and tell Him you reneged on your faith because so and so pastor was using a jet. I guess God would tell you that 99% of pastors on earth never had jet and 99% of churches didn't have jet - which of course is perfectly true.

It would amaze you that many of the "tithe to the poor" campaigners of last year are currently not tithing to the poor today.. The tithes they paid to the poor last year was a deceptive ploy to encourage others to stop giving to the church.

After that has been achieved, they really don't give a hoot if you spend your 10% in a harlot's house or a casino. As long as you don't give it to Church, no problem. Once you give it to Church then you must be gullible.

You see when the devil and demons are dancing on the head of a man he thinks he is being logical. No, you are only a pawn in a spirit game you don't even know you are part of. I pray that as God opened the eyes of Saul the persecutor of the church may he open the eyes of blind critics before it becomes too late.

When Living Faith Church visited 11 IDPs All Over Nigeria

The excitements—expressed and controlled—were expected; but not at the level they unfolded. As trucks loaded with food items and clothes wheeled into each of the 11 Internally Displaced Persons’ camps in the Federal Capital Territory, shouts of joy filled the atmosphere. In one of the camps, while the children jumped, clapped and shouted in celebration, the adults—married and unmarried, young and old, men and women—displayed subdued emotions in anticipation of what was coming. Some could not hold back tears—especially women. They were tears of joy.

The men, as usual, bit their lips and tried to brave it through. They could not jump and clap as the children did, neither could they cry openly as the women. They simply stood and watched. Men will always be men. When Living Faith Church visited the IDPs The mixed bag of emotion unfolded when pastors and members of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners’ Chapel, visited camps occupied by IDPs—Internally Displaced Persons—to deliver special messages from Bishop David Oyedepo. The messages were packaged in the form of 77 bags of rice, 2,400 tubers of yam, 44 bags of white beans, 72 bags of millet, 83 bags of maize, 254 cartons of indomie, 57 bags of sugar, 21 cartons of magi cubes, 36 bags of salt and 23 cartons of five-litres oil.

Added to these items were three trailers loaded with clothes contributed as love gifts by members of the church. The materials were distributed to the camps located in Dagba Area 1, New Kuchingoro, near Games Village, Wasa in Apo, Waro, in Apo, Sabo Lugbe along the Airport Road, Gongola in Lugbe, Kekeshi in Abaji, Pandagi in Abaji and Vine Heritage in Gwagwalada. In addition to the items given to these stranded Nigerians was the word of God delivered by the leader of the welfare team, Pastor Sunny Nkemdi. The church did not go there on a crusade. But at each camp, as the team arrived with the loaded trucks, shout of “Alleluia!’ “Praise the Lord!” and “Jesus loves you,” filled the air.

However, a different atmosphere unfolded at one of the camps visited. Despite the initial shout of joy by the children and a few adults, the reporter noticed something more than hunger in the faces of the some of the elders occupying the camp. It was almost indescribable. They seemed lifted on the inside. Hope came alive; and as bags and cartons of goods were brought out of the trucks, the mood of the people completely changed. Pastor Abraham Ojeme who oversees the Living Faith Church in the Federal Capital Territory said both the church that donated the goods and the recipients were affected by the emotional atmosphere in the camps visited: “Reaction is double-edged. Sometimes it brings tears from your eyes when you see the excitement in them and you could see hope in their faces. We are happy for that but it brings tears. Can we as human beings join hands together to help each other? They did not plan to be in IDP, many of them had homes before and all of a sudden, overnight, they found themselves there. That wasn’t their plan but God will change their story, God will give them a new beginning. For the hope we saw on their faces, God will do it for them.

Staying in the IDP camps seems to have created a bond of friendship and unprecedented sense of togetherness among the people. They have become morally bound even if it is a marriage of convenience. Both Christians and Muslims have come to see themselves as brothers and sisters—passengers in the same boat abandoned on an island by circumstances beyond their comprehension. The visit of the church was therefore not seen—even among the unbelievers—as a religious expedition, but as a demonstration of God’s love. Most of IDPs wore brand new or freshly-ironed clothes for the first time in several years because the church went there. Some had shoes given to them and could not believe that such luxuries still existed.

While providing the clue as to the mission of the church in investing millions of naira in a population comprising mostly Muslims, Pastor Ojeme explained that what has happened so far—the donation by the Living Faith Church—is the beginning, not the end: “Well, we are not talking about the millions now, because you cannot even quantify their own souls. How dare you try to quantify what you invest in them? What I am looking forward to is what God will make out of their lives. The Bible says what will you compare a soul to? How much is a soul worth? This is just the beginning and this same thing happening in FCT is happening all over the states of Nigeria.

We have done this many times before. We have done it for nations. We did it for Liberia. I was in Liberia in the midst of the war. We sent shiploads of materials to them and I could see how excited they were. We have done it in Sierra Leone, we have done it in Rwanda and we will keep doing it all over the world.” Few things, if any, create satisfaction and raise hope in the midst of calamity than the knowledge that somebody cares. When words of hope are spoken, the weak bones receive strength. When hands of succour are stretched in moments of distress, agony turns to joy; tears turn smiles. All these unfolded across the 11 IDP camps visited by the Living Faith Church two weeks ago.

As the divinely-inspired visitation wrapped up at the last camp visited, Pastor Ojeme prophesied hope even in the face of hopelessness. He said: “I see a people that will soon come out of their present condition. It is only a matter a time. Watch what will soon happen. The Bible says God raises the poor from the dung-hill. He lifts the servant from the ground and puts him on the horses. Their story will soon change. Some of them and their families will never know the road to an IDP camp again in life. Now, for what they have gone through, when God visits them and the changes come, they will know the difference, they will know how to appreciate God.”

Your idea is good. But like someone said up there. Be the change you desire. I believe no one is entitled to complain about what they are not wiling to change. So you start it.

Steadily and quietly, but most assuredly, Nigerian Church Universities are getting more pronounced in the area of research relevance.

Just like most of their counterparts which today form the Ivy leagues in the USA. Such as Harvard which was founded by Congregationalist, Yale and Princeton founded by Presbyterians, Brown University founded by Baptist, Georgetown and University of Notre dame founded by Catholics and Pepperdine University founded by latter day saints amongst many others which have all grown to become mega centers of research excellence which have produced invaluable inventions, drugs, vaccines and many Nobel laureates.

Nigerian church universities are equally growing in their research capacity.
A very significant slice of all research funding from foreign organizations being directed to Nigeria is in large being cornered by faculty of church varsities.

I have never seen a place where people reject religion as hard as the school was trying to push it, like Covenant University.

One of my class mates in 200 level who relocated to University of Waterloo, Canada after having an extra year(academic reasons) told me he was never going to church again. In his words "All of the church I have attended here is enough to cover for my life time." That statement hit me hard!
I only know how many arguments about God's existence I made in that school. And each time most of these Atheist argue I see Christians fleeing. It's like they are more knowledgeable than the average Christian. Which is very unfortunate!

During NYSC days many CU grads refused to affiliate with NCCF because they see it like another version of Covenant University.

With all of the rules and all it was still Covenant University that graduated Etinosa - the one who stripped on live IG.

And this is a lesson to Christians. Christianity must never be forced on people, it always blows back! The inquisition and many other errors of the church are proofs that it never works. Christianity must always be a choice...

I love this place. I would buy it someday soon, to protect it from those capitalist who want to buy it off and turn it into something other than the beauty it is.

How can any patriot look at this place and want to buy it from the park and turn it into a real estate project. I hope the govt can help pass a law preventing this place from being sold off to capitalist.

This is poor thinking by these accountants!!! ..This looks so because 70 percent of Nigeria VAT collections happen in Lagos but these monies originate from other states ..I will tell you the story of 100 KVA generator I once supplied to a hospital in Nassarawa state , the money for this transaction came 100 percent from Nassarawa state but I paid all the taxes carried to the generator in Lagos state making it seem like the money came from Lagos to a shallow mind ...as long as 70 percent of Nigerias imports pass through Lagos it will continue to seem Lagos is contributing most of the tax which is kind of erroneous

And for one generator you supply to nassarawa 50 is being supplied within Lagos. There's no doubt Lagos is the biggest consumer of many imports. Therefore even with your instance we can still say Lagos generates most of the revenue.
