Ha, Julius Berger. Anyone noticed how the stock silently made millions for people in the last 4 months?

This is what I meant by missing the bus if you are waiting for a stock price to fall too low and it refuses to get there. I bid for the stock around September for N54. My broker did not get and I refused to up my bid even though it was just about N55.

It was N90 last month. If I still bought at N60, I would still have made 50%. angry angry angry
You cant win it all, I also refused to buy NGC at N16 (my bid was at N15.50 and I did not increase it even though I had many opportunities to before the stock went out of reach).

Pumping,

I saw in the thread that you intended taking a position in dangote sugar. What is your outlook on this stock.

If we do not even go in depth to number cruching, it is easy to see that

if the market feels N47 is the right price to pay for 7UP for for projected   EPS of 2.53
N61.50                                  for CONOIL for projected EPS of  2.88
N 56.20                                 for UBA for project EPS of 2.04
N 46.69                                 for FBN for projected EPS 1.75 or less
N52.48                                  for Ashakacem for projcted EPS 2.05

The market will wake up to determine that N36 is not the right price for dangote sugar with Proj EPS of 2.65.
EPS just tells half the story, you need to scale EPS by something to tell the full story.  Because Dangote Sugar has an EPS of N2.65 does not necessarily make it better than a stock with an EPS of N0.50.  Secondly, you Dangote Sugar is not in the same line of business as UBA, CONOIL, FBN e.t.c.  They are all in different industries with diferent growth rates and this should be factored in

wanaj0 please can you give me a simple meaning of PEG and how it can be determined. And any experience with foreign stocks.
PEG = P/E divided by Growth Rate;  the lower the PEG, the better.  The intuition is that if 2 stocks have the same P/E, you should prefer the stock with the higher growth potential

The Board of Directors of Red Star Express PLC, a leading indigenous courier and cargo company, has declared dividend of N113.19million to the shareholders at the Company's 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Lagoon Restaurant, Lagos. The dividend translates to 22 Kobo per share and would be paid to shareholders whose names were on the Company's Register as at March 31, this year, after deducting withholding tax.

Speaking at the event, the Red Star Express Board Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Koguna said, "We have recorded a tremendous and stable growth in our business transactions. We have fulfilled all the requirements for the listing and conversion of our company to public limited company (PLC). We have also increased authorized share capital, private placement of 75 Million shares to increase the number of shareholders."

He explained that apart from listing the shares of the company in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) the organization has recorded a remarkable turnover increase of 26 per cent and moved from N2.249 billion to N2.836 billion this year.

A DPS of 22k per share will could mean a trailing EPS of at least 30k per share and we could be looking at a trailing PE below 13.

Does anyone have the prospectus for the private placement? Fedex seems to have a direct interest here.

Atedo has a point; if his bank only wants to focus on corporate finance, there's no need to have a N25 billion capital base. With that kind of capital, IBTC will look poor compared to others on efficiency metrics like ROE and ROA.

herbsman:
Are u a long term investor or short term.If you're futuristic, hold on to Transcorp shares because it will explode in max of 5years.The newly constituted board led by Tom Iseghohi will turn the fortunes around Jah willing. The man is a turn around expert. He did it at Pepsi Cola, Ford motors, American Express all in the US.

He has invited two gurus and they have been seconded to Mtel and the other finance.I just bought more units 3weeks ago and will buy more before X-MAS.

My target is 5years when the shares would have appreciated to bout N200 from N4.

Be patient.
N200 in 5 years? I am an optimist, but don't you think that your estimate is overly ambitious?

The MD is a turn around expert, but don't make it sound as if he truned around Pepsi, Ford and AMEX, that is not true

I bought transcorp at #4 and Lasaco at #2.75 about 2 weeks ago, these are my first investments in the stock market, ever since they have been dropping. I am really worried, should i hold on or sell, I am thinking of selling so i can use the money to buy some stocks in the banking sector that are rising but if i sell now i will be selling at 20% loss, is that advisable, i am new in the business so i need some quality advice
My advice concerns your future purchases: Do a thorough analysis before you buy any stock in future. The stock market is serious business, so take it as such before you put your money into any stock
