Partnerbiz: Below is an excerpt from Lagos Law ----- Lagos being the most progressive, I am sure it will be same with other States and the FCT.
And literal interpretation of same suggests that their must be interest or expectation of a larger sum for one to qualify as a money lender.
I would appreciate a llink to the Act that supports your stance. Hello Dear, I am happy that you took the pain to read up what qualifies you as a money lender. I am particularly glad because I believe you must have learnt other provisions contained therein. Nonetheless, let me further inform you that the money lenders Act is not the same for all the states, although the difference are not so much just like the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. However, I understand your difficulty in understanding that waiving interest on loan doesn't mean it's no longer a loan. The section you attached is the primary element that defines loan, same for banks. But I am sure you are very much aware that some banks in Nigeria can give you loan without interest. Does it mean it's no longer a loan? Well, the answer is NO. Perhaps this will help you to understand it-------There is no other legal term to define money lent to a friend with the expectation of getting same back aside LENDING. And to lend, you require a license. Please take this from me. I have been into commercial law for quite some years now. |

Partnerbiz: If I lend you 100k to pay back 100k later, I am not a money lender... Money must be lent in expectation of interest or larger sum for one to be a money lender. No Sir, You can engage in non-interest lending just as some banks give our ono-interest loans. The law allows you to reduce the interest rate but you can't exceed the maximum interest rate contained in your license. You can Google up the money lenders Act. Basically, the license is what authorizes you to lend. Without the license, you can only assist people who are in need. Only the banks and authorized money lenders are expected to lend money and expect it back with or without interest. If you take a person to court because you lent them money, the court will strike out the case if you don't have license. The law also says you must forfeit the money. Please just tried to read the money lenders Act at your spare time. |

This always work for me I understand and it will continue to work for you as long as it involves people who don't know what to do with the law. I will still advice you to stop lending money to friends. It saves you a lot of stress. If you must recover your debts please go about it legally. |

Kingsoul1: Lol funny comments all the way down.. First of all bro are you sure the person he is trying to get his money from has the money presently and maybe still delaying to pay up. And how much is involved? If its not up to a N100K Don't involve the police... Well if its up to that or above that ah think you should involve the police.. But then the police won't help you get your money for free you will have to pay up.. (Estimated at N20k before they will help) Here is the advice: visit a nearby police station and lay a complaint about someone owing you for some time and is refusing to pay up, that you need them to help you recover your money.. They will ask if you want the person to be arrested or invited for interrogation, that's your choice to make.. But to be fair to your debtor go for the police invitation once the police invites your Debtor he becomes threatened and scared. Therefore he will pay up the money by all means or risk being arrested and detained till he pays up.. Shared this based on past experience.. Your comment is even the funniest. More so, it could mislead others about the laws of the land. First, a debtor is not a criminal and can not be arrested or invited by the police. The police is not empowered by the law to investigate or handle civil matters. Although some overzealous police officers do dabble into civil matters and go free because most of such people are either illiterates or ignorant of their rights. Secondly, if this person became a debtor because you lent him/her the money, then you may even go to jail if you don't have the "Money Lenders License" that empowers you to lend money. Now, do not mistake the exceptions. For example if somebody is owing you because you paid for goods and he failed to supply the goods but instead promised to return the money, the police will treat it as a criminal case of Obtaining By Tricks (OBT). But if somebody is owing you because you completed a contract and he refused to pay for the work done, you can only sue him even for damages, provided you have documents to justify such claims. |

3millionia: Op dont involve police at all, just find the the closest Army check point and explain to them, they will help you beg your debtor to pay you
bu tell them not to touch the guy, that all you need is the guy to pay you ya money. Very effective. I love the army You forgot that if the debtor is wicked and intelligent, then your money is gone forever. Whether the Army officers touched him or not is immaterial. The moment the officers stepped into his house to recover debt, they are already in violation and this could land you in prison. It's true that many people are afraid of the soldiers but intelligent people will only look for a way to get out of the difficult situation and implicate you and even the soldiers with a simple petition. My general advice is "do not lend money to ANYBODY". You can help people if you can but don't and never lend. |

JesusSonOfGod: Jesus knew He will die, because this was why He was sent by God. He left His position in Heaven and came in form of human to be the lamb which will be slaughtered, so the blood would atone for our sins. He was God the Son before He came, He's God the Son and will always be. So he knew all that. Below are the scriptures to back it up.
But meanwhile, why He cried and asked God why He forsook Him was because He was in human form, the pain became much, he spoke as human. The pain became unbearable.
"'And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.' This He said, signifying by what death He would die" (John 12:32-33).
"From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day" (Matthew 16:21).
"Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up." And they were exceedingly sorrowful" (Matthew 17:22-23).
"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again" (Matthew 20:18-19).
"And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again" (Mark 8:31).
"For He taught His disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day." But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him" (Mark 9:31-32).
"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again" (Mark 10:33-34).
"And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one, saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day." Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me" (Luke 9:21-23).
"Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again." But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken" (Luke 18:31-34).
Please, if you are not convinced yet, let me know, I will make out time to explain in the evening. Honestly, you are a good person. A very good ambassador of the Christian faith. You are very spiritual and it shows in your approach to issues regarding religion, with particular reference to your responses to me on this very thread. Saintp: How can a 10 year old be in SS1. Anyway, I am not surprised, most Nigerians think that by pushing and rushing their children to finish secondary school at 13 and have them graduate from Uni at 17/18, they are doing the child any good but unfortunately they are killing the child.
Education, psychological development and age work hand in hand. It is wrong for a 10 year old to be in SS1 in the first place because he has not develop mentally to be in that class. What you people see today is because he has not followed the right developmental steps, he was just rushed and he has become an adult by force.
In the developed world, elementary school start at 5/6yrs,oyibos are not stupid to rush children like we do here. Please where is the address, the mother and whoever is taking care of this child need to be arrested for Child Abuse, the boy should be taken to a proper correction facility else you people will be into a bigger problem in future. My dear, do not disturb your brain in analysing the obvious negative effect of having a 10-year-old in SS1 because there is no mathematical possibility for that happening. I believe either the Op made mistake or doesn't know the difference between JSS1 and SS1 |
Family › Re: My 10-Year-Old Cousin Smokes by histemple: 2:41pm On Feb 11, 2018*. Modified: 3:03pm On Feb 11, 2018 |
First, OP please correct the mistake when you said the 10-year-old boy is in SS1. I believe it was a mistake in typing.
This boy lacks the presence of a father in his life and the mother is too soft to train any child let alone a boy. It's all shades of wrong to give such a child money to pay his school fees personally.
I also discovered that it seems the woman focused more on other things than monitoring the boy's academic performance. Obviously, she doesn't have any relationship with the boy's teachers and that is why she didn't know that the child has been out of school for sometime.
Although this boy is just a victim of probably a broken home. It actually takes redoubled efforts and God's grace for children from broken homes to turn out well. This is because a child needs both parents for normal growth and no single parent can perform both roles effectively.
SOLUTION
The mother must make up her mind to give that boy something close to the discipline of a father. Send him to a military school and play deaf ears to his complaints of maltreatment. In fact try as much as possible to distance yourself from him at the early stages in that school while she keeps constant communication with his teachers.
I could have gone with the suggestion by "Consultancy" to subject the child to a near death threat but I am assuming that the small not hasn't reached that level. Such threats are usually the last resort when every other mechanisms failed. At that level, you must achieve one of the two possibilities. Either the boy changes for good or becomes even more hardened. |

However, I would appreciate if you can educate me further perhaps with biblical references instead of just condemning my position which was drawn from the bible. I am particularly interested in knowing why Jesus cried and blamed God for forsaking him when he was being crucified. Mark 15:34. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Generational Curses Still Affect Many Christians by histemple: 12:43pm On Feb 11, 2018 |
JesusSonOfGod: No one is born free from curses until you become born again. This curses started from Adam down and when you become born again you are disconnected from it and connected to Christ.
How then do you resist the devil if not by faith on the word of God. Faith on the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ. The devil did all he could to stop Jesus, he could not, so now he wants you to think Jesus didn't do enough for you. Jesus is the Son of God oh, He's God the Son and He humbled Himself and took the body of man so he will be sacrificed for our sins and you think His blood didn't do enough. Pray for understanding. By sacrificing himself, I believe you mean Jesus being crucified on the cross. But I think he didn't do it voluntarily. According to the story of Jesus death, he never wanted to die and he even blamed God for forsaking him. I think blaming God for allowing the Pharisees to kill him shows he never knew he was going to die and never did voluntarily. |
