Please note that not all believers are Christians. Jesus was a Hindus and he was a believer. Muslims, Traditionalists, Hindus, etc are believers too.

There are religious groups everywhere who are not Christians but are believers. Anyone who doesn't follow the teachings of Jesus Christ is not a Christian but might be a Believer.
Christianity Etc › Re: 5 Reasons God Doesn’t Answer Your Prayers by histemple: 11:25am On Oct 18, 2015
AWONEYAN:
Reasons God Doesn’t Answer Your Prayers

1. It could be you’re not a child of God.

This may sound obvious or even cruel, but God has no obligation to answer the prayers of unbelievers (Psalm 34:15, 17; Proverbs 15:8, 29; John 9:31; 1 Peter 3:12). He may answer, but He has not obligated Himself to do so.

The only prayer an unbeliever may be assured God will answer—and answer immediately—is a prayer of faith and acceptance of His Son, who died on the cross and rose again, as the basis for the forgiveness of your sins.

2. It could be your motives or actions.

As Christians, there are a couple of reasons God may choose to delay or deny answering our prayers. In these cases, He is waiting on us.

Your motives in prayer. It may seem simplistic, but if we don’t ask, God won’t answer. And when we do pray, our reasons for asking must not be selfish (James 4:2-3).
Your actions in life toward others. Our actions also can hinder God’s answer. If you are flagrantly disobedient to God, you may expect your prayers to be hindered (Psalm 66:18; Micah 3:4; 1 Peter 3:7; 1 John 3:21). This is by design—so that you may return to the Lord wholeheartedly.
3. It could be your misunderstanding of God’s priorities.

Some of the problems we have with prayer arise out of a wrong understanding of God. The better we know about God in the Scriptures, the better we will understand how to pray—and why God responds to prayer as He does.

God answers prayer according to His will (1 John 5:14-14). But just like us, the desires are not all equal. My desire to remain faithful to my wife until I die is not on the same level of my desire to take a nap on Sunday. It’s a matter of priorities.

God has a will too, but not all aspects of His will are of equal priority. For example:

God desires, first and foremost that He receives glory.
God desires all people have a choice about the decisions they make.
He also desires people to live a reasonably happy life while here on earth.
All are His will, but this final priority comes after the first two. Our problems with prayer often come when we think the first thing on God’s mind is our happiness and not His glory.

4. It could be that it’s just not time yet.

So let’s say we are living for Christ in our attitude and actions and praying according to His will. What do we do when all systems are go, but the answer still hasn’t come?

You keep praying.

He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart. —Luke 18:1
You don’t lose heart. Here’s why:

It may be that circumstances require changing before you can accept the answer.
It may be that the answer depends on someone else responding to God too (remember God’s order of priorities).
It may be that the delay is to see how seriously you are willing to pray.
God may delay answering your prayers in order to give you far more than you’re asking for.
5. It could be God wants to give you more than you’re asking for.

If God is able to answer (and He is), and if He has promised to answer the prayers of His children (and He has), then the delay in the answer—we must know—is not that God is apathetic or absent.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think . . . to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. —Ephesians 3:20–21
In the final analysis, it may be that God desires to give you more than the simple answer to your prayer, making the answer—once it is received—all the more sweet.

Please add other reason, you feel are causes of hindrance or delay to prayers.
Op, you need to fully understand how God operate with the different set of people that exist before you can address this topic exhaustively and factual.

The different kinds of people are;
1. God's children who were not Christians.
2 . Christians who don't work with God.
3. Righteous people who are not Christians.

This is because the generation before Jesus Christ were not Christians and the way God operated with them was different. Remember that Jesus himself was not a Christian. The term christian means "Christ-like or "followers of Christ"

More so, Jesus came with the mission to reconcile man to God. So, he modified so many doctrines and laws and God’s modus operandi changed.

This is why the bible is full of perceived contradictions. The same God who said he loves peace can be seen as also a God of Wrath.

So, any true student of the bible can't make factual generalization about God's operations except assumptions.

It is the same God who said "ask and you will receive" also said "He knows your needs even before you ask. And that His thoughts for us is of GOOD only, to give us our expected end.

So, you see that it's misleading to assume that you know for sure, how he operates?

Politics › Buhari And The Dangers Of Youth Exclusion And Violations by histemple(op): 7:06pm On Oct 09, 2015
With the volume of unprecedented support, goodwill and unanimous resolve by dissatisfied Nigerians for change that enthroned President Muhammadu Buhari to the highest office in Nigeria, he has no reasons but to justify the enormous confidence reposed in him.

Unfortunately, the fact that he was yet to form his cabinet after four months in office, is a disappointment that is already generating ambivalent reactions. For many, there is no reasonable justification for the delay, especially considering that he had identified the challenges facing the country and prepared himself to govern the Nigerian state, and contested four times. The most generous interpretation for the lack of a ready blueprint that apparently resulted to this unnecessary delays could have been that he was being meticulous and looking for credible people, preferably new saints in the new cabinet.

But contrary to the heightened expectations of Nigerians, the eventual outcome of this presumed diligence is at best, annoying and laughable, considering the ministerial list he sent to the Senate which recycled the same old politicians instead of new saints. He could have easily compiled these names even on the eve of his assumption of office because they are his age long allies in the same political family.

Again, Buhari who declared that he was for everybody, ended up appointing only members of his political party (the APC).

YOUTHS---------From the prevailing social and political realities and statistics, Nigeria is clearly a society where the concept of youths as leaders of tomorrow has constricted a very important social category to the political fringe and relegated a demographic majority (the youths) to the political minority.

Nigerian youths who represent over 68% of Nigeria’s total population, are arguably the most talented, intelligent and sophisticated in all areas. It is therefore, surprising why President Muhammadu Buhari has decided to exclude the youths in his ministerial list. It is even more disheartening that in a country that has a preponderance of competent youths, a man who was a minister in 1982 (33 years ago) is being nominated for ministerial position again in 2015 by a government that promised to change the old unfavourable order.

It is high time that we de-constructed our mindset from the negative interpretation of youths as leaders of tomorrow and perhaps, reconstruct the phrase because it appears that we have misconstrued it to imply a tomorrow that must never come for the teeming Nigerian youths.

Short changing the youths by precluding them from full representation and proportionate participation in governance and in making decisions/policies that will ultimately affect them is an unforgivable sin.

My research showed that Nigeria had given opportunities to the youths in the past and they were extraordinarily outstanding. Some of them were M.T. Mbu who became a minister at 25, Richard Akinjide at 32, Maitama Sule at 29, Yakubu Gowon at 35, Audu Ogbe at 35 etc.

It is therefore preposterous to development, enmical to the desired change and nation building, that even president Buhari who himself became head of state in 1983 at the age of 41 could display this level of disregard for the Nigerian youths with unperturbed flippancy and loud silence.

CONSTITUTION VIOLATION------Although Buhari's military background suggest naturally, that he would need more assistance and guidance to become a completely transformed democrat----- one with regard for the rule of law as enshrined in our constitution.

That notwithstanding, can't be an acceptable excuse to violate the constitution because aside having a legal adviser, Buhari is fortunate to have a legal luminary as a vice president. Unfortunately, he hasn't displayed either in actions or inactions that he has fully utilized that privilege.

Upon taking the oath of office, President Buhari resonated the spirit of the Nigerian Constitution when he declared that he was for nobody but for everybody. The excitement that greeted that declaration was short-lived as his subsequent actions and early appointments made the declaration a mere sarcasm.

While the perceived selective favouritism and lopsided appointments were still not rectified, the constitution was again disregarded, perhaps inadvertently, when the president recently announced outside the shores of Nigeria that he will make himself the petroleum minister.

A declaration that is indicative of obvious ignorance of section 138 of the 1999 constitution as amended which states that "the president shall not, during his tenure of office, hold any other executive office or paid employments in any capacity whatsoever.

Aside legal advice, It is clear that Buhari needs to be reminded that he is representing a country that has a collection of the world's most intelligent people whose sensibilities shouldn't be insulted.

How can a president send the list of ministerial nominees for screening to the Senate without indicating the portfolio of each of them?

This is akin to a candidate going for an interview for which position neither the candidate nor the interviewer knows.

The Senate will now have to become octopus to predict their portfolios and ascertain if they are competent and qualified to superintend the ministries as guessed.

The avoidable conundrum created by this vague and ambiguous list will certainly negate accelerated screening because the Senate will now have to devise a conventional strategy for the exercise.

Gradually, the overwhelming support and frenzy that brought president Buhari to office is fast depreciating from absolute confidence to ambivalence and still tilting towards south and something should be done to reassure and resuscitate the dwindling confidence of Nigerians.

What prevented Buhari from indicating their portfolios before sending to the Senate?

It's just like sending a candidate for interview for a position that is not known to both the interviewer and the candidate.

There no doubt that the nominees are sound and may perform well, but we should know for which office Buhari intends to assign to who. This is to enable us assess if they are capable of such office.

E.g. It will be wrong to make Ngige the justice minister.

Politics › Ministerial List: Hon. Egbo Condenms Youths Exclusion, Warns Against Violation. by histemple(op): 6:15pm On Oct 08, 2015
ASABA----As the president Buhari's ministerial list continue to attract ambivalent reactions, the Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Youth and Community Development, Hon. Egbo Victor Okemena (JP), has described as dangerous and preposterous to sustainable development, the deliberate attempt to exclude the youths who constitute over 68% of Nigeria’s total population from decision-making and governance processes as shown in the ministerial list submitted to the Senate.

Hon. Egbo who is also the president of Isoko National Youth Assembly, said the concept of youths as "leaders of tomorrow" has regrettably constricted a very important social category to the political fringe and reduced a demographic majority (the youths) to the political minority in Nigeria.

The youth leader argued that it was wrong to preclude the youths from participating in making decisions and government policies that will ultimately affect them.

He said it was shocking to find a man who was a minister in 1982 (33 years ago) nominated again as minister in 2015 by a government that is serious about changing the old order of doing things.

Is it that we are in deficit of qualified and competent youths', he ask rhetorically.

The governor's aide said we need to disabuse our mindset and deconstruct our thinking about the concept of youths as leaders of tomorrow if we have misconstrued it to mean a tomorrow that may never come for the youths.

The youth leader recalled that in the good old days, Nigerian youths were given opportunities in governance and they were extraordinarily outstanding. Some of them were M.T. Mbu who became minister at 25, Richard Akinjide at 32, Maitama Sule at 29, Yakubu Gowon at 35, Audu Ogbe at 35 etc.

Hon. Egbo advised that rather than recycling the same old circle, Buhari should take advantage of the teeming distinct category of our youths who are highly educated with proven competence and prepared, to effectively drive national transformation.

In every progressive thinking society, it is the youths that drive the process and Nigerian youths are arguably the most, talented, intelligent and sophisticated in all areas. Presently, four Nigerian youths are in the United Kingdom's legislature to help them run their government', he continued.

Egbo further appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, who himself became head of state in 1983 at age 41, to consider youth inclusion in the remaining ministerial list.

He also advised president Buhari to reconsider his decision to double as both president and petroleum minister as it's a clear violation of section 138 of the 1999 constitution as amended which states that, "the president shall not, during his tenure of office, hold any other executive office or paid employments in any capacity whatever".

Politics › Hon. Egbo Calls For Caution On Surrendered Terrorists, Warns Against Politickin by histemple(op): 1:05am On Oct 05, 2015
The Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Youth and Community Development, Hon. Egbo Victor Okemena (JP), has advised the federal government to be extremely careful with the members of the callous extremist group, Boko Haram, who have been compelled to surrender to the gallantry of the reinvigorated Nigerian Army.

The Governor's aide, was reacting to the October 2nd twin bomb blasts that rocked Abuja, the nation's capital, an attack that was apparently planned to coincide with the nation's 55th independence celebration, barely 24 hours after 80 apostles of the dreaded sect purportedly surrendered to the Nigerian Army.

Logically, it is difficult to believe that the terrorists truly surrendered", the visibly livid Egbo submitted.

However, the fact that the recalcitrant terrorists were constrained to down tools is although a welcome development, but it must be taken with a pinch of salt, as it has the tendencies of achieving the extreme opposites of good and bad consequences depending on the handling.

He said if the insurgents can be surrendering and attacking simultaneously, then there is need for skepticism, absolute caution and not celebration yet.

Hon. Egbo, who is also a UN certified peace Ambassador, said surrendering comes with even a bigger challenge because the terrorists needed to be properly deradicalized, assessed psychologically, re-orientated and most importantly, ascertain their sincerity of purpose before finally reintegrating them to the society.

The Governor's Aide commended the security agencies for their giant strides in the renewed fight aimed at completely stamping out the insurgents.

He also appealed to all Nigerians, particularly the political ruling class, religious and youth leaders to see the fight against Boko Haram as a collective responsibility instead of dangerously politicizing it or making comments that are capable of polarising the country with the divisive sword of ethnic bigotry, religious bias and primordial sentiments.

The Peace Ambassador reminded Nigerians that, chief among the plethora of challenges facing the country, is the issue of Boko Haram. This is because a dead person has no need for all the good things of life and so, we must be alive and safe first, before thinking of the economy, job cum wealth creation, electricity, good roads etc", he continued.

More so, the destruction of lives and properties occasioned by Boko Haram onslaughts cuts across all divides.
The youth leader commiserated with the families of the dead and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, majority of whom are youths.

Akwa Ibom born, Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama, is a name to be reckoned with in the world of football with his goal keeping heroics being recognized around the world.

Vincent Enyeama may be the captain of the Nigerian national team and many may boast of knowing him well but here are ten things you probably didn’t know about him:

1) Vincent Enyeama made his debut for the Nigeria national football team in a match against Kenya in May 2002.
2) He was selected for the 2002 FIFA World Cup as a substitute goalkeeper for Ike Shorunmu
3) During his spell with Enyimba International F.C, he was always substituted before penalty shootouts.
4) He currently plays his club football for French club Lille OSC.
5) In his first season with Israeli club, Bnei Yehuda, the team qualified for the final of the Israel State Cup and achieved fourth place in the Israeli Premier League, which qualified the team for the 2006 UEFA Cup.
6) Enyeama signed for Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2007 and helped the team to avoid relegation and reach the state cup final in his first season.
7) During his second season with Hapoel, the club almost won the league title, with Enyeama winning the “Player of The Year” award – although he is a goalkeeper.
8 ) In his third season with Hapoel, the club won the Double, with Enyeama scoring an advantage goal during the Cup Final.
9) On 18 August 2010, Vincent Enyeama scored his first goal of the 2010–11 season with a penalty against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League qualifiers.
10) In 2004 Enyeama was involved in a car accident in Uyo, southeast Nigeria, in which two motorcycle passengers were killed. Despite the severity of the accident, Enyeama only came out with bruises after the car somersaulted twice as it swerved to avoid the motorbike.

Vincent Enyeama, is the most capped footballer for the Nigerian national team and unarguably the most successful Nigerian goalkeeper. More importantly he’s just an Akwa Ibomite like everyone who pursued his passion to great heights.

What’s your passion? Do not give up on it, for nothing is impossible if the passion is right.

Interestingly TVC has not deemed it fit to air this trial live.

Yes! There is freedom of expression as enshrined in our constitution, but there are also laws guiding the dissemination of information. That is why you can't just write that Mr "A" is a thief if you can't legally prove it.

Anybody is free to publish ONLY what he/she can prove to be true, or risk being sued for libel/criminal defamation of character. Some people have been sued and made to pay millions as damages for this offence.

As for the handcuffs, it is not right, although not unconstitutional anyways, provided that the police can prove that the suspect tried to either evade arrest or flee from custody.

There is no gainsaying that our policing is more accusatory than investigatory. An average accused person in Nigeria is made to defend himself more than proving his innocence, and it sometimes, subject suspects to torture--------both emotional, psychological and physical.

The President gave this assurance on Monday in his address to the 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

While acknowledging the threat posed by Boko Haram terrorists to sustainable development in the West African region, President Buhari condemned the sect’s murderous activities perpetrated under the cloak of religion.

He detailed the action taken so far by Nigeria and its allies in the Lake Chad Basin Commission to rout the insurgents, and called for a global strategy towards defeating the terrorists.

Politics › Flood Alert : Governor’s Aide Visit Delta Communities, Warns Residents by histemple(op):
The Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Youth and Community Development, Hon. Egbo Victor Okemena (JP), has warned communities resident in flood-prone areas such as low lands and river banks in the State, to take proactive steps and gradually relocate to safer parts of the State, to avert the dangers of being enveloped by the impending flood.

He made this call in Aboh, the headquarters of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, during a scheduled enlightenment tour of communities in the most vulnerable flood-prone areas in the State.

This followed the earlier warnings by the DG of NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi and the Delta State Deputy Governor, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro, to Nigerians and Deltans respectively, following information from the Cameroonian authorities on plans to release excess water from the Lagdo Dam between now and November 2015.

Hon. Egbo, while addressing Community and Youth Leaders, said he became extremely worried owing to the recent flooding that washed away parts of Kaduna state, where no fewer than 12 persons were feared dead and hundreds of houses submerged, thereby rendering thousands of persons homeless and distraught.

It will be recalled that the regrettable 2012 flood disaster swept away the entire Ndokwa East LGA, leaving many people dead and properties worth millions of naira destroyed, even as the State Government hurriedly rescued survivors to various flood camps in the State.

Following the disastrous effects of the massive 2012 flood, both Countries had reached agreement in 2013 that, Cameroon would give early warning to enable Nigeria put adequate measures in place to prevent excessive destruction of lives and properties.

Hon Egbo, who had visited the Okpai, Afor, Obikwele, Uchi, Beneku, Ashaka and Aboh communities for sensitization, reminded the teeming enthusiastic crowd that the obvious rising water levels at the River Niger and it's adjoining Creeks, only resonated the earlier warnings by Cameroon and urged the residents not to be flippant about these signs but act fast.

The forecast by the relevant Government agencies looks gloomy, but the effect of the impending flood can be contained by concerted efforts from everyone", he concluded.

Who would dare stick out their necks against the President as it is?

You people seem not to appreciate the impact of CHANGE as brought to us by APC.

If PDP wants the Senate Presidency, they should better find a Saint with no blemish from amongst their lot to run because any baggar that steps up would be cut down.
Your closing statement is spot on, and it's something that should bother Nigerians. As it stands, I doubt if there is any anus without faeces in the entire NASS.

Saraki is most likely going to be removed and banned from occupying any public office for a period of at least, ten years. I think this may usher us to a festival of witch hunting.

Let's join hands together and pray for this nation.

Typical one-way analysis.

Get this, politics is pure mathematics. What makes you think the other APC rebels would not cave in after Saraki is bereft of power? Political survival is key here, and you think PDP (a party that just lost power) can guarantee them that? The APC rebels will eventually realign with the party, at least for now, to fight another day.

It's obvious that the APC rebels used PDP. And from what I can see on my tea leaves, they will dump PDP sooner than later!
Your point is very valid. But we must also understand that, all these analysis are based on probabilities. Nobody, except the gladiators, can say for sure what will happen.

But we must also recognize that Saraki will be dismissed entirely and that leaves APC with 57 senators to PDP’s 49.

This means that a united PDP just needed only 5 senators, to either vote for them or stay indifferent, to win. Anyways, nothing is certain for now but it is an expensive gambling.

Let's watch on.
