I will advice you to read sections 388 and 389 of the penal code. It will guide you.

Yes Sir. And it has a punishment of up to 2 years jail term with an option of a fine or both.

Same applies to the man in section 389 also, But I will appreciate if you have a contrary view.

Excuse my ignorance, but can you direct me to the law that criminalises adultery in Nigeria? Thank you.
Thanks for expressing your willingness to know. It is important for you to know that adultery, unlike rape, is not a criminal offence because it is a transaction consummated on mutual consent.

Adultery is a civil offence and it contravenes section 388 of the penal code. More so, it is repugnant to natural justice.

"The woman, identified as Winifred, (surname withheld) while she was being beaten, confessed to the act but was rescued by the policemen at the ‘B’ Division Asaba who were called to the scene of the crime."

Not like i support adultery but must barbarism be displayed given the slightest opportunity? I don't see any reason that justifies beating her...
It is a matter of the police not being effective. Nobody has any right to torture a suspect, not even the police.

The police were supposed to arrest and detain the touts beating her because they have clearly acted ultra-vires as the law has no provision for self-help in either cases of civil wrong or criminal offence.

It's clear from the story that they committed adultery, but in the blind eyes of the law, they remain innocent until proven guilty which is even subject to preponderance of evidence.

Ayatullah:
LEADERSHIP STORY QUESTIONABLE!
If Leadership Newspaper has its facts correctly why can't the surnames of those involved in the story be mentioned?

Daily Trust's story on Nairaland running alongside Leadership's about a homosexual mentioned the full names of all the accused man and the victim including the details of where the crime was committed. That is good and fearless reporting.
There is a law in journalism to protect the image and identity of victims, especially in cases of abuse. For example, when a lady is raped, or a bank was attacked by armed robbers, you don't mention names. You can rather say, a new generation bank was attacked. Or a middle - aged lady was raped.

It is only when the case has been taken to law enforcement agencies, that you can reveal their true identity. And you must establish that you gathered your information therefrom.

Humans and animals are different our IQ is higher and we have a soul. we don't have dominion over them because of size(a common cow is bigger than man) but because of wisdom.
If you are saying all animals are ddifferent based on intellectual and IQ levels, then you have a point because even amongst humans, it is so.

However, I am confident that you will agree with me that some wild animals are more intelligent and useful that some human beings.

The truth is, it is contestable as regards to which is more intelligent because, the both species make use of wisdom and technology. That we can't see their technological powers is another deficiency on the part of humans.

Sometimes, it seems to me that they even have more technology than us. Just imagine that we can't eliminate mosquitoes finally, even though we hate them. They just keep multiplying and we seem to lack solutions to eliminate them.
It takes a combination of intelligence and wisdom for a bird to construct a nest. So it is for a rabbit to build it's house underground.

If we truly have dominion over these animals, they won't be in existence today, especially those we fear so much, such as elephants, lions, snakes etc.

But we keep hunting and killing them just as they are killing human beings.

Animals sees us exactly the way we see them. We are their enemies just as they are to us, hence they try to kill or avoid us just as we do to them. They are pained when we kill one of them just like us.

Humans are animals too and were created by God through the same process---------formed from the dust.

Our Bible tells us that God gave humans dominion over them, who knows what their Bible or belief tells them?

My cousin applied law in this year's jamb and also wrote the post utme exams but unfortunately her name was not released and she took the supplementary form and the staff at the school's admission unit told her she will be admitted to study Islamic Studies.
But this girl is a devoted born again Christian and since the doctrines of Islam and that of Christianity are in direct contradiction as it might affect her walk with the Lord. She requests for advice.
Should she take up the course as she has been home now for 3 years due to lack of admission, and she says she cant stay home any longer.
She needs your advice please
I don't seem to understand why a human being will be seeking advice on what to study. Does it mean that this fellow has not decided what he/she wants in life and the path to attain it?

Does it mean that the fellow is ready to just study anything available?
Christianity Etc › Re: It Is A Sin For Ladies To Put On Trousers To Church Because Bible Condemns It by histemple:
Ladies wearing trousers is not a sin, neither did the bible say so. That particular instruction was given at a time when women in their monthly circle were forbidden from sleeping under the same roof with her husband or even touch his food. More so, the phrase "pertaineth to" implies OWNERSHIP and not style. Simply put, a woman should not wear that which belongs to a man.

If the bible was talking about style, then what do we say about King David who wore SKIRT most of the time?

The major problem I have with some pastors is that they go to the old testament, pick a single verse and run away to suit their mischief. When it gets to the ones that nobody can keep, that is when they will realize that the coming of Jesus nullified old laws.

Some churches don't even use jewelleries neither do they make their hair. And they will pick a particular verse in the bible to justify the ignorance. It's mostly because most of their leaders do not understand what was said based on the situation as at the time and what was given as a law.

Now if you read the whole of that Deutronomy, you will get not less than a hundred laws.

One of them is that wearing clothes of diverse texture is a sin. eg. Wearing woollen skirt and linen blouse.

So, why are we not preaching all?

How come the Governor appointed this Special Assistant on media and Publicity who doesn't know how to manage the image of the Governor?

This publication is more derogatory and has caused more damage and ridicule to both the Governor and the entire state.

Could it be that this guy is also working against the Governor or he is just clueless?

The LIES are just too infantile to say the least. NUJ should investigate and revoke his license if he was ever a media person.

Opinedecandid:
I read this your 'competence' story too often as if it is the cogent excuse for the President's sectional and biased appointments.

My question has always been, is there any State/Federal Constituency, let alone Senatorial District or a whole State that does not have any qualified persons to be appointed into any position? I dare say, there is none.

Again, why do we have a law in the country promoting Federal Character?

Let us not be deceived by Buhari's Government.

Let President Buhari convert the lengthy time he uses to select any appointee to making sure he scans for the qualified in States and regions he hasn't favoured in his appointments.

Finally, the 95/5 percents promise is still fresh in our memories.
Well, I appreciate your concern for a balanced distribution of governance. I don't know which part of the three main ethnic nationalities in Nigeria you are from.

The truth is I have looked round and it has been extremely difficult to find anyone from my zone who is "clean" that can be trusted to drive a process for the desired change.........This is just being sincere.

In fact, just mention 4 names in APC that are not stained with proof. And they are the ones masquerading as Buhari's fellow change agents. We know their records.

The truth is, this agitations for a balanced appointment is just about ethnic bias and perhaps the spirit of the Constitution.....nothing more.

Of what use is having my uncle there who will be so self centric and heartless enough to impoverish all of us more, as they have always done?

If you must know, I never supported Buhari and couldn't have voted for him at the time. But I think we should allow him do what he wants to do.
Politics › Re: Where Are Igbos, Yorubas In Buhari’s Govt? - Shocking Appointment List ! by histemple: 4:11am On Sep 13, 2015
A truly patriotic Nigerian who is sincerely pained by the current moribund state of the nation, shouldn't be bothered by who occupies which position.

Let us support competence instead of promoting parochial view points.

The major concern of the jobless youths is to be gainfully engaged. Most times, even when our uncles were there, we never benefitted. Some of them can't even be seen around and hardly show any care as to our plight.

Let the IGBOS, Hausas, Yorubas, Ijaws etc take a back seat and support any competent person with integrity to save the comatosed nation state.

Nigeria is in a state of emergency. Even if an expatriate is need to save us, it is highly welcomed.

Only recently, the UK appointed a Canadian (Mark Carney) as their Central Bank Governor--------Bank of England.

All these visits are with good intentions but it is becoming infantile. PMB needed to have a working structure before embarking on these incessant trips.

He is presently piloting the affairs of the Nigerian state alone, and so, once he is away, governance is at a halt.

Christianity Etc › Re: Photo: Meet Pastor Who Specializes In Miracle Phone Calls by histemple: 2:58am On Sep 13, 2015
As long as people refuse to accept that God work with us individually, there is no limit to what mischief makers can do to milk gullible miracle seeking desperados.

I was in a popular Lagos church last year and the pastor, after praying, declared that congregants will start receiving "miracle credit alerts" into their account.

I almost wept as some members of the church started shouting to confirm that they just received transaction alerts as prophesied by the "MOG"

I don't doubt miracles because they are real, but if these numerous miracle pastors are real, no Nigerian will be poor. Unfortunately, majority of their members are poorer by the day despite performing the rituals such as anointing water, anointing oil, blessed handkerchief etc religiously.

ECOTERRORS:
the last exercise was purely on merit which a lot of NLanders were oppourtuned to be called up. Plz call a Spade a Spade
I must agree that a few persons were employed on merit, but if you must know, they are less than 5%.

The strategy they used was to invite so many people for the CBT and physical examination only to end up putting fictitious names there.

Now tell me, why was the CBT not programmed to give candidates their score immediately?

Presently, we have all the names of those invited for physical examination, and we are seeing entirely different names in the final list of appointments. Over 70% of those who received the NIS offer letter were not invited for the physical examination.

Kindly do your research and ascertain how many NLders got the job eventually, and compare it to those who were invited for physical examination but were screened out even when they met all the requirements.

This was the same thing that happened in Delta State and the new Governor cancelled the exercise upon resumption of office.

It is painful but we must set the stage for transparency. There is so much corruption in the land.

Imagine the 7th National Assembly signing over 40 bills into law in less than 1 hour as they were leaving office. This were the same bills that have been with them for 4 years.

If you read if carefully, you will observe that the entire team of COBC28/2014 were disengaged. And this was the last set recruited by the last administration.

Or are you also saying they should have disengaged the entire immigration officers since they disengaged the last set?

It is extremely disturbing and painful to be suddenly retrenched without any fault of yours, no doubt. More so, it is disheartening to become a victim of circumstance, especially when the circumstances were deliberately and mischievously occasioned by our leaders, who should be trusted.

However, If we carefully retrospect the process and manner with which the employments were hurriedly done at the twilight of the last administration, you will agree with me that it was fraught with nepotism and selective favoritism.

Go to the court and get an affidavit for loss of original PSLC---------that is if you can remember your exam number.

Alternatively, go back to your primary school and get a signed letter of confirmation from the current headmaster/headmistress, showing your exam number and year.
