Aside party or religious affiliation, I think what all of us need is general improvement. |
Helped me to stay informed. There is hardly any news that is not promptly discussed on nairaland. |
We just need to prayer for this country |
tunergy:Training a child is not easy I must tell you. It is just like being a football coach, you must handle every team and players with a good understanding of how to get the best results. Some parents even need more training than their child. Others need to be trained on how NOT to train a child. One of the best gifts to a child of this boy's age, is spanking and whipping. Just imagine if we were not whipped in nursery/primary and junior secondary schools. |
There is no generally endorsed procedure for training a child. Just like all marriages are different and requires different approach that suits each, so it is for punishing or correcting a child. We must also understand that DIALOGUE is another form of correcting/punishing a child More so, the age of the child should be considered. It is senseless to whip a 18-year-old-------if conversation can't work at that age, only prayers can. There is no point advising a baby of 2 years old always--------Whipping may serve better for such, sometimes. Just imagine if we were not whipped in nursery / primary and junior secondary schools. Now why is it a taboo to whip an undergraduate? The answer is simple------different approaches based on age. We must also know that punishment is only intended to CORRECT the child. It makes no sense if the child is only made to feel excruciating pains without getting the message. We must also guide against the following; ----Making the child to lose self confidence. ----Creating so much fears in the child. ----Making the child to be happier when you are away. ----Not letting the child know when he/she is being punished. As we must correct erring child, we must also understand that certain traits must be pardoned as they are natural and normal within some age bracket. |
Timoleon:1 hour and 15 minutes. |
banttieman:Thanks for the insult. I appreciate. |
Optional2:Your point is very valid, especially as a non medical practitioner. But I must tell you that the doctor has committed a very gross misconduct that can sack him and make him pay heavy damages. The "friends" that took her to the hospital should have been the ones that will tell the BF and not the doctor. Except she so approves. The only time a doctor can reveal a patient's health condition to unauthorized third party, is through a regulatory or law enforcement agency. And he must have such request verified by the court. Like I said earlier, it is just like the bank. If a banker gives your account details to an authorised third party, you can sue for damages and be paid. And the particular employee must be sacked. |
shadowgwalker:Yes I agree with you, the doctor has no other choice than to reveal it--------although that is still unethical. Because in the first place, a qualified doctor is not supposed to carry out abortion without someone else signing for the patient. |
Optional2:There is what we call oath of confidentiality, aside code of professional conduct and ethics, it's only the adult patient that can authorise the doctor to tell anybody. And just to educate you, there is nothing they need to sign after the abortion. It's only before the abortion that a relative or guardian is supposed to sign, authorising the abortion and agreeing to accept the outcome. This is so, because abortion anywhere in the world is 50/50. This doctor and the hospital can be sued for revealing this information and the doctor must lose his license. |
donholy28:According to oath of confidentiality, code of conduct and professional ethics, even if the patient is in coma or moribund, no trained doctor will reveal that to you without the approval of the patient. The doctor will rather try to resuscitate her and where all efforts failed, you will only know what happened when she is dead. Let me ask you, if the lady wanted you to know, why didn't her tell you before carrying out the abortion. Do you know that the doctor can lose his/her license because of this? The medical profession is just like banking. No trained banker will tell you anything about you husband, father or mother's account balance, not matter the emergency situation. |
DrumStickz:Please can you give us the details of what transpired? Do you have your offer letter and termination letter? |
babaearly:Do not blame Nigerians who castigated him because that is Enyeama's fault. He should have communicated to Nigerians or even the football federation that his mother is ill or dead. So that they will know exactly why. Where there is lack of communication, the mind speculates and imagination runs riot. |
Joevics:Interestingly, we even have evidence that the president said it. And it's in neither audio nor in print but in VISUAL. |
closetoyou:It is risky to take a definite position when you are not sure. It is referred to as the arrogance of ignorance and like you may or may not know, ignorance is never an excuse. The president was the first to make that promise of free meals to students. Please I want you to make your research with special focus on PMB's speech at Chatham house, and apologise to this forum. Or tell us that you insist on your earlier position. Thank you. |
activelyA:SS3N on Dstv. |
The game may not be as easy as most people are thinking. |
It was nice that she got the account number. |
kahal29:Please you still have the luxury of watching that episode again on channelsweb before you start defending Lai Mohammed because I still have the episode here. What Lai Mohammed said he read online was, and I quote "I also read online that some APC chieftains who chose to remain anonymous are not happy with the president over the recent appointments". |
I hope Government is still a subject in our schools? ---------Because the kind of analysis I am reading here is disturbing. |
I have never been as disappointed in a political party as I am with the APC. Aside the purported facebook publications, I watched as Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who was a guest to SUNRISE DAILY, told Channels TV crew on 29th August, 2015 that Dr Onu told him that Buhari had discussed with him in confidence before the SGF appointment. I just feel bad for Nigerians. I have high hopes and respect for Buhari but I think he is surrounded with people of unquestionable character. |
Op. Thanks for this revelatory piece. The truth is most of the words/phrases used in Nigeria, were coined by Nigerians as they can't be found in any dictionary whatsoever. It is repulsive to hear "erudite" Nigerians use such word as PRACTICALIZE to mean put in practice. |
IsraeliAIRFORCE:The APC is presently working with Jonathan's policies and following his recommendations religiously. I recall when former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan anounced that Nigeria needed the cooperation of neighbouring countries to fight Boko Haram whose operations transcends borders, Buhari / APC called him names and said he was clueless. But that was Buhari's first assignment upon resumption of office. The only thing I like about Buhari is sincerity. While his party men are busy ascribing Jonathan's achievements in power, agricultural sector etc to him, Buhari shocked them by declaring that they were the manifestations of GEJ'S efforts, as he was yet to start working. |
baralatie:Of course, the legislature can call the executive to order or even remove a president. But to achieve any of these, they must be united. |
moyinoluwabun:Now! This got me laughing. |
Well, I sincerely share your grief as it can be extremely difficult, when relieved suddenly, to cope. It's even more disheartening when you have a family who probably depends entirely on you. In most cases of retrenchment, the nature of employment and how the parties disengaged, are what determines the outcome. Any of the parties can be sued for breach and damages if a clear violation is established, in sync with the country's labour law. Please not that if your termination was not communicated to you in writing, then you have not been sacked, legally speaking. But If you have your letter of appointment and that of your termination, you can get a lawyer to advise you on what next to do after careful study. However, based on your submission, it appears you have a good case. |
handie:You have raised very salient points that are worth reflecting upon. While I share your disappointment with the painful realities in the country, I will encourage you not to lose hope on our beautiful country. More so, I want you to realize that there are laws guiding the operations of all companies in Nigeria. Companies like MTN, DSTV, SHOPRITE are just like GLO, HITV and TANTALIZER, and they are also regulated equally. I agree with you that we are being exploited, and heavily so, but you also need to understand the challenges faced by these companies. That is WHY our indigenous companies like HITV, ECONET couldn't compete favourably. They could have provided the needed competition and consumers alternative in the event of perceived exploitation or outright dissatisfaction. The issue of arbitrary charges by DSTV was brought before the court on baseless terms. DSTV has the prerogative and protection of the law to review their charges at any time, just like any other company. I can't remember any suit brought before the court on the arbitrary charges and or the erratic price reviews by our transport companies, private schools and even the CBN. The consumers can only ask for consideration. Most importantly, majority of us believe that seeking redress in court is a waste of time, and that is why most people are being unjustly exploited by both fellow Nigerians and foreigners. |
pDude:I think your contribution is harsh, to a fellow who is in excruciating pains of sudden retrenchment. It is not a situation anybody wishes for. All we owe this fellow, is how to assist him with either our knowledge or influence to get justice, if needed. However, we really do not need the company's name or persons involved. We only need the full details and a true picture of the situation that subjected him to this plight. |

Please explain fact no. 11 or reconstruct you grammar if you meant the age difference was for the kids. |
yorubatic:Atrocious acts are never peculiar to any tribe, religion or group. It has to do with the individual involved, that is why it is found everywhere. Anytime you come across any human being ascribing to, or passing derogatory remarks against a particular group for the devilish acts of its member, just know that fellow needs more education. Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Christians, Muslims and Pagans have both good and bad people amongst them. Anybody who thinks otherwise, certainly needs a paradigm shift to stop deceiving his/herself. |
MzzTega:Stella Damasus, not "DamasCus" |
