have you use your five senses, to figure how jesus walked upon the sea? Or how he turned water into wine? One thing about miracles is that, it breaks the laws of nature sometimes.
I have never argued the validity of miracles. I know real miracles do happen and it's beyond human comprehension just as I know fake miracles are everywhere.
Please read and understand before any contribution.

Nairaland is a gift to us and I think we should utilize it appropriately. Every tribe, group, religion etc is a complete mixture of extreme opposites. There is no circle that is completely good or absolutely evil.
So, I think we should desist from this ethnic bigotry based on some primordial sentiments.
I am aware that nairaland has rules but I think the moderators can do better to prevent some elements from insulting the intelligence of Seun Osewa or the intellectual class. If nairaland is seen as a forum for ideas diffusion and a platform for intellectual discuss, it will be better for us.
Oftentimes people share their predicament on this forum expecting intelligent contribution as regards proffering solutions to their plight but you find some elements spewing derogatory remarks and jokes.
Moderators please work on your punitive measures for the good of nairaland.

kITATITA:
My sister, I bow in respect. I had a heated argument about this story with a friend before it got to the media. Apart from the air inlet, the weight of the soil would collapse the lungs making it impossible for the victim to breath. I am from Enugu and I can tell you that the three most profitable businesses there are religious contracting, politics and hoteling. So called prayer groups and priests peddle their services and fake miracles to families where they claim to dig up objects inhibiting progress. In the process, every old person in the village is accused of being a witch responsible for retrogressing situation of younger members of the family. it has made many to accuse their parents of witchcraft and abandon them. The Catholic priest mentioned in this story charges N10, 000 for consultations. It is pathetic.
Thanks dearie, I have said it consistently that I have no blames for the fake prophets but for the gullible masses who threw away their brain when seeking miracles. Especially when the signs are obvious. Why will a man who claims to be called by "God" ask to be paid before he can be seen? Where in the bible was Jesus seen asking to be paid for anything he did or will do?
Religion is the biggest scam and the only genuine religion is between you and your creator. Today any material you buy in churches are far more expensive than the market price.
last year a popular pastor ordered his workers to collect a gate fee of 1,000 naira from anyone before they are allowed to participate in the crossover service. I engaged a top member of the church and his excuse was that they wanted to control the crowd. I almost cried not for the obvious fraud but when I saw people paying. I quickly asked him what if everybody pays? Why not allow people go in based on punctuality? What happens to a genuine Christian without the 1k to pay you?
Crime › Re: 10-yr-old Boy Buried Alive In Enugu by histemple:
With due respect to the real men that God uses, most pastors and prophets arrange all kinds of miracles to make them appear powerful. Most of their strategies are so glaring but gullible miracle seeking desperados won't still figure it out. I was watching a program on TV recently and a man who has "never seen" all his life had his sight restored and the pastor asked him what color of shirt he was wearing and the man shouted "Yellow"
My question is who taught him colours? I have seen people including my close friends confess how they were paid to be used by fake pastors for different kinds of miracles. To be honest, I have little or no blame for these fake elements because an average person in our society has no direct relationship with his/her creator but believes any man that is performing miracles (magic) as a saviour and so whatever that prophet says is final. So, all that a potential businessman needs is to become a magician either by arrangement or occult and start a church.
Back to this one, I wouldn't know how long they claimed the boy has been buried but I know that it takes few hours or minutes for a buried person to die. A human being can not survive more than 45 minutes without any inlet of air.
We should always use the brain that God blessed us with to think deep and not believe all reports.

There is absolute sense in this submission. There is a reason God allowed some people known as doctors to exist. Some people are seeking miracles for prosperity without even doing anything at all.

When are we going to stop the mentality that Nigerian women are in relationships for money?

Most of the jobless/low-earning men have wives and girlfriends too.

I am not a Muslim but given what I know, Boko Haram is clearly not anything close to the beliefs and concept of Islam. More so, I will be reluctant in accepting that they intend to create an Islamic caliphate neither is there any logic in reasoning that they truly abhor western education.
A group that kills across board is certainly not against or protection a particular divide. As it stands, we are not sure what they want.

Your submission is more like a generalization hence the absence of phrase like "most or some ladies" and I suggest you review your observations with a view to identifying if the phrase "women in general" is more appropriate than "most women". While I agree with you that it could pertain to some people, there are still others who sees it from a different perspective. More so, when analysing issues that pertains to tribe, gender, etc, a wrong choice of word or its usage can easily lead you to commit fallacy of false generalisation. There must always be a mixture of extreme opposites in any group.
One this topic, let me remind you that before two people can work together, they need mutual consent. As a result, the approval of the other party is compulsory. Seeking approval from the other party on what you intend to do is a mark of regard for his/her opinion. The absence of it gives you away as the uncommanded commander and this authoritarian posture is a turn off in most cases.
Your topic on attraction is one area that is vast and vague because there is no particular strategy for stimulation. A lady's's attractions is largely dependent on her value system and preferences. Some ladies can be attracted to a garrulous comedian while others are attracted to you based on how focused and intelligent you sound when engaged in a conversation. So, being "interesting" to a lady depends on what "stimulates her interest".

Generally, we need to be cautious when dealing with people via non visual platforms. It is easier to attribute some of this deplorable tendencies to joblessness but we must understand that most people are just out from the spirit world to destroy as many as possible. The social media was supposed to be a vital tool in sensitising, educating and perhaps entertaining the people but these unscrupulous elements are harping on its usefulness to perpetuate all kinds of vices.
However, if we pay absolute attention to details and meticulously probe their identity and sincerity, we may hardly if ever, become their next victim. Furthermore, we need to be careful with leaving sensitive details such as phone number, FB address etc online. Also, we can make use of the "privacy settings" on these social sites to prevent unauthorised access to our information.
Yesterday, someone sent a FB message to me, requesting friendship and I simply ask the fellow to explain what informed the decision and why? Instead of answering the question, the fellow sent an email address through which we can communicate.
Further investigation revealed that it was a newly opened FB account and so, no pictures or activity log.

Good question from you. Anyways for those who care to know about the marital status of their man, one of the most effective ways is to pay attention to details and conduct independent investigation.

Pay attention to his calls and watch out for responses like "they or we are fine" during phone conversation with friends.

Insist on assessing his phones with a view to perusing the pictures and SMS.

Nature can pardon those who are dating married men inadvertently but for those doing it purposely, you are either putting paid to the possibility of getting married or enjoying your marriage if you eventually gets married because you are presently destroying a woman's home and happiness.
Politics › Why Buhari Must Succeed.....a Must Read. by histemple(op):
During the Nigerian 2015 general electioneering campaign, Nigerians were promised all the wonderful things that would transform the nation to a paradise if and when implemented by a possible APC led government. While this manifesto worked effectively and endeared Buhari to millions of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora, some were still suspiciously skeptical about the sincerity of purpose. Some even registered strong repulsion on the person of Buhari based on his antecedents as a former head of state.

While the PDP aired documentaries to portray the person of Buhari as an evil to avoid, the APC convinced Nigerians that the fierce campaign of calumny was mendacious, jejune, infantile and a diversionary measure to shift the attention of Nigerians from pertinent issues and the genuine intentions of the party towards solving our obvious problems.
From his antecedents, to forgery, to health status, to senility and even perjury, the person of Buhari was severely attacked. Clearly, not all Nigerians believed either party verbatim and it reflected in the shared votes as the margin wasn't much.

However, the election was widely adjudged as transparently free and fair despite little observed irregularities in some quarters and Buhari became Nigeria's president. Thanks to the Prof. Attahiru Jega led INEC. For a smooth and hitch free transition, former president Jonathan was widely celebrated as a hero.

Following Buhari's reluctance in forming his cabinet, many concerned Nigerians perceived his inactions as an indication of a confused mind. Even a Lagos based lawyer sought a court injunction to declare him incompetent. More so, Buhari's deafening silence on his party's position on the choice of principal officers of the national assembly and his perceived selective favoritism in his few appointments, was seen as mischievously precluding and decimating other regions.

But in all of these issues, I have followed the Buhari's administration keenly and I think he isn't bothered by these criticisms. I think that alone is commendable. More so, Buhari seem to be focused on delivering his promises to the people as he strives to minimize corruption and cost of governance. Recently Buhari rejected a proposal to buy new cars for his use and insisted that he will make due with the existing presidential fleet used by his predecessor. That again is unprecedented in the history of our nascent democracy. As an example, other government officials have started accepting a whooping 50% pay cut in order to fix the Nigerian state.

As it stands, the only partially justifiable aggression is his delay in appointing ministers. But thinking deeply, we are not suffering the absence of ministers as most of them were or will be just figure heads. In almost all ministries and agencies, the permanent Secretaries have better useful understanding as they have been there for ages than a minister who often times is a novice to the activities of the ministry as a mere political appointee. Although some are sound.

Another area is the selective favoritism for the North. In my opinion, the average Nigerian is more interested in how his/her life is improved by the activities and policies of the government than who occupies which position. Aside some unfounded primordial sentiments, the representation of some regions by some politicians has brought more suffering to them and the politicians don't seem to care about their plight.

I was never a Buhari supporter and couldn't have voted for him at the time. Just like most informed Nigerians, my expectations is not entirely based on Buhari's campaign promises as a few of them are unreliastic and no politician anywhere in the world has delivered his/her campaign promises 100% but I think Buhari has shown that when sincerely supported, we will have a better Nigeria.
This represents my opinion and mine only just as your objective views, constructive criticism and opinion is highly welcomed.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What's The Best Approach To This Question "How Do You Handle Pressure"? by histemple:
I have read what most people advised and it appears most people have mastered how to copy what is on the Internet and regurgitate same during interview session. As a HR expert, let me remind you that sound panelists gauges what you say, what you didn't say, how convincing you say them, your countenance etc. We do this because every interview is different and we can easily detect a liar when answering this very important question. We do not expect a fresh graduate to have the same stress leve or conflict management skills with an experienced person. We do not expect someone who has never worked in any organisation to start telling us "Actually, I work better under pressure because it brings out the best in me".
I won't give us any answering pattern to memorize but I will do well to give us an idea of the HRM expectations about this vital question during interview session.
The hiring manager already knows as a doctrine of necessity that a fresh hire needs additional training (induction) to be properly groomed. So, the question for a fresh graduate implies, tell us how you "intend" to handle work and workplace pressure? Please note that this means both work pressure and pressure from other employees. Then for the experienced hire or manager, the question means, please tell us your technics for handling pressure? So, we expect in a sincere candidate, for the former to merely define pressure and tell us his/her theoretical understanding while the latter is expected to tell us how he/she "has been" handling pressure. Interviews are used to ascertain a candidate's suitability but it also helps us to assess your integrity and honesty. Sometimes we ask you questions that you must not have answer and if you try to be mischievous, that may cost you the job. Although, we understand the desperation of an average candidate to impress and get the job but lies are taken seriously.
Unfortunately, in the quest to impress most freshers think they are smart by telling us how they have been handling pressure. Some even tell us how working under pressure has made them better managers and this is someone who has never worked anywhere going by the CV submitted. I hope we have an idea now?

Some things are better imagined than experiencing them. It's one of the most obvious indicators of rascality and irresponsibility for a presumed sane person to slap his/her partner in public. The truth is my first suspicion will be spontaneous insanity as I will be shocked and speechless then I will retreat from that spot with a view to identifying if he is still sane. And yes! madness can start that way. Generally, It requires serious resilience to manage this kind of situation but knowing that he hasn't become mad is a consolation. Thereafter, the best you can do is to prevent the already regrettable situation from becoming worse and that is by protecting both his image and that of my family in the public with all the courage and pretense I can command. The way you handle him will either endear you more to him and make him genuinely remorseful or make him recalcitrant and hate you more.
My advice is for ladies to carry out deliberate stress level test and consider the ability of their fiance to manage conflict before saying "I do"

I want you to enlighten me miss, why are both institutions offering the same course such as Accountancy, business administration etc when they both serve different purpose?

Now is it the fault of the student or the useless Educational system we have in this country?
The choice of school to attend should be the prerogative of the individual in tandem with his/her set goals in life but when such graduate begins to lament about certain perceived victimisation, there may be need to suggest honest ignorance or oversight on the part of the fellow.
Let me help you a little. Colleges of Education are designed to produce professionals for the teaching profession, Polytechnics are designed to produce experts for technical support like field technicians while the Universities are designed to produce professionals with the theoretical knowledge to manage the technicians and others.
This is not peculiar to Nigeria or Africa but the world over and it doesn't suggest that one is superior as they serve different purposes. It's regrettable that we lack suffucient employment opportunities and we sometimes confuse ourselves with regards to these classification. Based on their specificities, you shouldn't teach or lecture if you don't have a degree in education or at least an NCE, you are not supposed to be a field technician if you are not a polytechnic trained graduate. I am sure you will notice that all these institutions have some courses in common like English, Native language, Engineering etc but it doesn't necessitate serving the same purpose.

This post actually made FP by error because we have treated this same topic extensively and exhaustively too. It is obvious some people just jump into any available school without knowing what the institution stands for. That on its own is a form of illiteracy. How can a human being call himself a graduate without understanding the purpose of his institution only to lament spending the same 4 years with a university graduate but treated differently because he attended polytechnic.
Is it not the same 4 years that an NCE holder spent? Will it not sound ridiculous for an NCE holder to lament being victimized when HND is preferred in employment. The OP should go and research the rationale behind the establishment of Monotechnics, Polytechnics, College of Education and Universities.

It is important that both Amaka and Prince understand that marriage is the only known institution without graduates. But it appears that both of them understand it very well and are being cautious. Based on their stand, love is not their major reason for this marriage and regrettably so. Amaka is certainly not too sure of Prince's commitment and love just as Prince is uncertain about Amaka's love and how far the marriage will last.
My stake in every marriage is for couples to marry for love because every other calculations such as children, property, security etc can fail. The truth is if a man doesn't love you as a wife, you will face hell until you are forced to seek divorce. And if a man marries you with the mindset that you compelled him to do court marriage because you foresee divorce so that you can get hold of a percentage of his wealth, he will not only sideline you but might kill you if that is his last option.
As hard as it might sound, both of them should move on separately because I see a marriage that is destined to fail.

First, I know that rape and etc. happens in other countries. It happens everywhere, except that it's less reported in Nigeria and some Nigerians still have the audacity to boast about having better morals than others when these things are happening here.

As for the word bastard, I know it's in the dictionary. So is the n-word. The n-word is there, it has a definition, it is a "valid" word as some other poster put it. But is it used? No. Should it be used? No. Why? Because it is an offensive and unnecessary means of describing black people. Just because something is in the dictionary, do you need to use it? Better yet, is it a word that you would use in front of the child born out of wedlock? Or it is a word that you would use only behind a child's back because you implicitly know that child would not like being called that behind their back? Children are children, as far as I'm concerned.

As for the America, Obama, and Buhari thing, I can't get into all of that or I'll be here all day. But I will say that Obama stated that he will not come to Nigeria until there is steady electricity for all Nigerians. That still hasn't happened. Obama invited Buhari to the U.S., that's true but did Buhari have to accept the invite? Nope. But he did anyway. Generally, America did not give the weapons to Nigeria because the government was concerned those weapons would be stolen and sold on the black market. Same thing with the money that not only America but other countries donate to Nigeria and Africa. The theft in Nigeria is just too much that many countries are wary of giving money to us.
Thanks for your response. I will encourage you to help in this struggle to reorientate our people who have gone astray in emulating the immoral western culture because we have a better one only if we can work on tightening the few loopholes we have. For you to join this vanguard, you need to have a paradigm shift.
It is still suspiciously shocking that you are looking for justification to convince us that a bastard is not a bastard. Suspicion because you present yourself as someone who has a compelling need to protect a bastard or bastards hence your quest to redefine the word or stop it's usage. Please be reminded that the word bastard was not used to describe "only blacks". The known word used by those fools to derogate blacks was Negro or Nigga. I agree with you that it is disapproving to use it in the presence of the bastard because our society abhors them but so is other words like prostitute, thief, etc and it doesn't change their meaning neither does it redefine them.
All those are the immoral foreign cultures destroying our rich heritage. In the US that you seem to be protecting, a lady can get pregnant for her boyfriend and raise kids for him but in Africa, such children are bastards until at least a bride price is paid. In fact, any African lady who gets pregnant before marriage is seen as a disgrace to her family and were usually hidden from the public domain. In some cases, they hurriedly arrange for an impromptu wedding to legalize it and avert the shame. That is why we still insist that to legitimately have such children, the man must marry their mother even in death. That is Africa and it helps to preserve the marriage institution as sacred.
You tried unsuccessfully to justify your US for refusing to either assist or sell weapon to us on corruption and I find that particularly ridiculousl and infantile. Where in the world is corrupt-free? Check the history of fraud in the US and you will be shocked. Presently the world is watching in awe as the corruption rocking FIFA unfolds. Is that Nigeria or is a Nigerian part of the scandal? You said the other reason was to prevent weapons from getting to unauthorized persons and I ask, how then have they helped or there is other way to help. Come to think of it, is it not the same America that teenagers are shooting at the slightest or no provocation? How have they controlled their weaponry?
I am still asking you to see reasons why we should protect our values and culture because I see that you are equally intelligent.
