GEJ wasn't the greatest moment. He focused on the North. He barely build something reasonable in the south.

Same way Amaechi focused in the North hoping to win their votes for a presidential election.

I believe this time will be a better time for the South.

We concur. Tinubu is politically too shrewed for the usual northern manipulation. He might restore balance to politics in Nigeria. Nigeria does not belong to the Fulani. God save his life.

Wahala dey o! This curse pass Cain or Esau own o! But why are some people so ungrateful and entitled. It's just like the man in the jesus parable who went and buried the one talent his master gave him instead of looking for opportunities to increase the value and then calling the master wicked for giving him only one talent and seeking to profit without sowing. The master came back and cursed him and threw him out to where there was great suffering and gnashing of teeth.

Instead of you to make the best of the little opportunity given to you, you became a celebrity in your own eyes with 'fans', criticizing and grumbling, forgetting where you are coming from. Too bad. The Man of God did not curse you but only told you the trajectory your life will follow except you repent from such terrible attitude.

Has he been there before? Or has he died before? Many of the adorun motitos( those who would only know the truth after they're dead) will have moments of regrets in the afterlife. Heaven is super real. I have a friend whose story I had shared here before. He's still alive till today.

His name is Kunle Ajibola. That's his real name. He was crossing oworo express in the 90s and got hit by a car. The driver zoomed off. The force of collision pushed him away from the highway to the roadside. The guys playing football under the oworo bridge quickly picked him and dragged his body aside. That moment, my friend had left. He said he found himself in the midst of amazing flowers and everywhere was so quiet. He said people, both young and old from different races were just trooping out from left, right and centre. No single noise was heard and everyone was going their own way. He said he couldn't explain the coolness of the environment as he had never experienced such before.

Suddenly he got to a point where he wasn't sure how to proceed, maybe to turn left or turn right. As he was contemplating, he said he saw an image like that of a human being with white apparel, very tall...and he couldn't see his face due to his height. He asked him, young man where are you going and he responded, he saw people going in different directions so he too followed this path. The man said, he wasn't supposed to cross that spot now, that he should go back to where he was coming from. He said he should look back and that moment, the first thing he felt was unexplainable pain all over his body and people who had surrounded his body at oworo said oooh, he's back, he's back. They had been fanning, shouting pouring water on him.

There was one man who stopped his car and called on the first Atlantic bank's ambulance stationed at the entry point of 3rd mainland bridge, those who were around that time would remember the 1st Atlantic Bank ambulance point around that place. The ambulance took him to gbagada general hospital where he was treated. This man paid all his medical bills. From that time, my friend had given his life to Christ. He's been a member of Deeper Life since that time. I'm not preaching church pls. I'm not a member of his church, just explaining.

Amazingly, if he walks , you'd never notice he had an accident before. He recovered fully. Heaven is real. This isn't a fairytale

This story and others like it cannot be a proof of life after death, because he wasn't dead yet. He was in a coma and hallucinating. That's all. Many a times people thought to be dead were not dead but merely in a coma and later woke up with some tales to tell. Irrevocable proof of death is when the body begins to decompose. Nobody has ever recovered life after that.

Nobody knows what happens after death. Whether it is A or B or C. Don't let anyone deceive you.

Though the OP recommendation is naive, your question is quite dumb, sorry to point it out - if you export refined product wont you still earn the same foreign exchange? I guess you didn't think about it before typing.

@OP, the international powers wont let you do it. They will lobby and bribe the weak government officials not to do it in the first place. If that fails they will try to sabotage your refinery building process sis e you source all the parts and technology from them. If that fails, they will refuse to buy the refined products by imposing sanctions using one pretext or the other. They will forment trouble in that country by financing and arming opposition groups in a bid to change the regime. They can sponsor coups and/or assassination by poisons etc. All these will succeed because our people are weak, disunited, gullible and easy to bribe.

People were breathing soot and white clothes hung to dry in the sun turned gray. The people cried out to governor Wike. Wike stamped out oil bunkering and cooking in Rivers state in less than a month and the black soot disappeared like magic. That showed that insecurity in Nigeria is not intractable but only requires political will and strength of mind. Wike fought Ipob and unknown gunmen to a standstill and cordoned off Rivers state from Ipob/esn/unknown gunmen activities. Wike is a strong man even his enemies must respect. You have a point but it doesn't change the fact that the British forces suffered casualties at a much higher rate. That is attributed to more than fragmentation. If anything fragmentation is great for war. You would have less people to fight at any one time. Its warfare 101. Reread the statistics I put out there. Compare Ijebu to Aro.

Addition:

I can confidently say that anyone who suggests this as a reason why an army suffers more casualties in a single battle or struggles with conquering has not being reading up on other wars or paths of conquest. Other tribes in east Africa with a similarish structure were not as difficult. We literally have the phrase "divide and conquer" for a reason.

I think"divide and conquer" refers to dismembering the political unity of and entity and conquering before the components can become politically independent. If you don't conquer fast you may create a hydra headed monster whereby 9 new heads grow after cutting off only 1. The British met the Igbos fragmented but politically independent just like the ancient Greek city states of Sparta, Athens, etc

Also I disagree with the notion that they "weren't any better at military strategy". Read Colonel Montaro's account. I think that is exactly what makes the difference. Throwing more men in does not change the outcome. Else we will see far more casualties inflicted on the british in northern Nigeria.

The only possible factors in my opinion are:

1. Igbos were better armed.
2. Igbos had better tactics, whether for communication, use of environment, formation of warriors etc
3. Igbos were more determined
4. Igbos had better knowledge of British tactics.

For this simple reason:
Igbos warring is hit and run guerrilla warfare taking advantage of the forest environment for cover, whereas the British preference is frontal assault where their artillery, machine guns and accompanying tactics offer advantages. So before the soldiers will arrive a village, the whole inhabitants will disappear into the surrounding forest and fight from there. And that village was politically autonomous.

Actually, soldiers are far more easier to defeat when they are fragmented - hence reason why armies form coalition treaties to defeat a larger and more stronger armies.

If only you people will put aside the pull-then-down syndrome and look at the igbo tribe with clear mind to really know what made them so outstanding.

FACT IS NO TIBE IN NIGERIA CAN SURVIVE FOR A YEAR THE INJUSTICE, MAGINALISATION, BRUTALITY, HATE AND OUTRIGHT DENIAL OF THEIR BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS THAT THE IGBOS HAVE BEEN SURVINNIG FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS NOW.

He said 'political fragmentation' but you responded on 'military fragmentation'. Military fragmentation with one political authority does not offer much advantages.

The same political fragmentation was what made Al Qaeda formidable enough to resist the might of the great USA for over a decade.
Al Qaeda operated on numerous independent cells only guided by one central philosophy elucidated from time to time by an elusive Osama bin laden, and his successors.

Poltical fragmentation was the reason it took long to subdue the Igbo. They weren't necessarily better at military strategy than the other groups you mentioned.

In Igboland, every village had to be engaged and defeated separately. And as there are thousands of villages, this will understandably take a long time.

But the Hausas and the Yorubas who had been consolidated into fewer centralised states, it would obviously not take the same amount of time. All the British needed to do was defeat the central authorities and the subordinate villages fell in line.

Correct. You know it

This talk about "baby factory" is something the Lagos/ Ibadan expressway media have been using for a long time to denigrate people, especially Igbos

The truth however is that thousands of young girls, nationwide, fall victim to unwanted pregnancy every year. Girls that their husbands, boyfriends or even casual acquaintances have abandoned and ran away.

In such situations, the girl can either terminate the pregnancy or carry it to full term. If she decides to carry it to full term, chances are that she may be ostracised by her family and community, or simply has no support. Nigeria has no support system for such women

The girl will eventually have no choice but to go somewhere where someone will offer to take care of her and pregnancy, even if the price is dire

There's nothing like baby factory, there's only those exploiting would be single mothers

Exactly. It's a press invention. Nothing like baby factory anywhere on this planet earth. The homes are rendering useful social service that government has neglected. In the absence the destitute pregnant girls would certainly come to grief.

The so called NLC strike will just be another IPOB sit at home.

We all know that the current crop of NLC officials are party supporters of Labour party. They simply want Peter Obi there.

Their greatest interest is to frustrate the program of the Tinubu Administration so as to make him fail.

Their support is strongest on the south east and some south south states

The NLC proposed strike will not hold water in the south west and in the North.

I forsee Tinubu ignoring the NLC strike while still going ahead with his plan to adjust minimum wage.

Nobody will tell our igbo brothers and sisters before they stop the useless and senseless strike.

In fact, by the time government starts no work no pay, and later on begins to dismiss any civil servant that chooses to stay off work, it would almost seem like govt wants to purge the civil service of people of Igbo extraction.

We all know that the subsidy was removed by Buhari and that the petrol industry act now outlaws the payment of subsidy.

We also know that NNPC is now a private company that can fix their own prices at will without consulting the president or the labour congress. We also know that the other independent marketers are equally at liberty to set their own fuel price at competitive advantage.

How can you go on a nation wide strike against the govt because a private company decided to adjust it's price.

If Dangote were the one selling fuel to us and suddenly decided to adjust his price, can you, bejng a gift worker, decide to stay at home and refuse to go to work? Well, the NNPCL is now exactly another private company. You can dialogue with them, but going on strike, against the govt (both federal and state) will just be total nonsense. I trust NIC to not waste any time on this.

We also know that the country is very broke and Tinubu is trying to save us from total ruins by avoiding even further debt.

So we are wiser. We will win at the end. Tinubu will not bat an eyelid.

No matter how long you protest o, we will remove subsidy.

Kawai

Is it printers devil or what will make a reporter label a 23 year old as a teenager?

This is all crap. What is baby factory. As long as nobody there is underage and not under any form of compulsion. They should be left alone. Its a charity home or NGO doing much needed social services. The malaise of destitute pregnant girls is partly due to the cultural distortion in the east whereby early female marriage and polygamy is frowned upon. Now that the pregnant destitute girls have been 'rescued' who is going to take care of them?

So what killed fela? Answer the question then I may begin to see sense in what you are saying

Hey! By definition fela could not actually be killed by AIDS or HIV. By definition HIV is a virus that causes your immune system to become much less effective thereby allowing opportunistic infections to attack and overwhelm the victim. Now, so many other things can also cause this immune system breakdown, for example, malnutrition, untreated existing infections, stress, etc.

So you see?...

Fela's brother Dr ransome-kuti probably claimed that because he may have been or hoping to benefit from foreign HIV AID grants. If fela actually died of AIDs we ought to have subsequently seen the sudden demise of all his wives and other women he was dallying with. But nothing like that. Fela died at 63. Fela lived an active stressful life. He tried. Bob marley died in his thirtys without any AIDS cloud.

I hope you have done your environmental impact assessment thoroughly. That place is part of the flood plain of the River Niger that receives the flooding during flood season. If you sandfill it, the flooding will move somewhere else perhaps not affected by flooding before. You have to do a good study of the river dynamics and devise how to train the river to flood and erode at a safe place. My 2 cents.

If all due considerations are taken, it's a brilliant idea. Relocate sand from the nearby islands of the Niger to the flood prone banks creating new living spaces and also checking flooding. Brilliant.
