My car doesn't just lose the water tho.. It boils the water out of the engine.

I wish I can share videos for you guys to see what I mean.

Check for external leaks, first when coolant leaks, air will be introduced into the system which will make coolant boil.

And hopefully they bleed the system after buying the radiator

I wonder o. I told the mechanic to recheck he said he has done it well that it's rewire work.

I think I will require the service of another mechanic and rewire to recheck or use the scanner as suggested by the FTC. Thanks

This is just a case of leaking injectors. 1 of them is leaking internally and it is washed down the cylinder bore.

Have all your injectors checked.

This thermostat debates. One mechanic said remove, another said replaced. But will a white man put thermostat if its not to the advantage of the engine? I am on the fence with this one.

Not sure any of the hoses are leaking tho.. I will still recheck.

If there's no leak, I guess the only other option is head gasket?

Does it make sense to replace it in terms of functionality afterwards or I should just prepare to sell the car.

You need to check and recheck all hose.

Happened to my Lexus recently. The water keep going down with no visual leaks.

I have checked all hose with no solution. I even changed radiator cover still no solution. What I didn’t know was that the coolant was leaking only when car is operational.

Because I normally checked for leak when car is cold makes it difficult to find. So one day I got tired and check while car was running. Lo and behold, Coolant was sipping away at the end of one of the hose that goes to the heater core. It was a weak clip.

I am good with DIY, I just removed the air filter box and bought a screw clip. Screwed it and that solve my problem.


Yours might be leaking while car is operational.

Try starting the car and let it warm up then press all hose.
NOTE: The hose will be hot so be careful touching it

I have a Lexus ES330 2004 Nigerian Used with 101k mileage and recently I noticed an overheating problem.

First, it was the radiator leaking. Then I changed the radiator the day before yesterday. I was convinced that Tokunbo radiator is better because of the grade. But the overheating problem did not stop. The coolant part was actually boiling yesterday after an hour drive in the traffic.

They checked the thermostat, discovered it was damaged. It was removed yesterday and I planned on replacing it today. The car is stationed now

Prior to the radiator replacement, the car was scanned and no error was detected apart from the missing catalyst.

I don't know whether the radiator I just replaced is also a culprit. If the thermostat is replaced and the overheating still continues. What else could be the problem?

That car would have done at least 180k miles, only way it would be 60k miles is if it’s was involved in a serious crash before being refurbished in Nigeria

Get your car scanned by a pro and do the needful then follow the other advices given especially the engine oil and transmission

I know a good electrician around Bodija, I gave him a link to this post and he concluded that At this point, he didn’t think you need to introduce a new electrician to the whole brohaha, things has been done already and car is butchered.

Check engine: you need a scanning tools to determine what is wrong

Wiper: That is not the wiper itself, that is the windshield fluid. Wiper water in short. You need to locate the reservoir and top it up, the light will go off. ( it is always under the hood by front passenger side )

Maintain required: the car might be due for servicing, or if you have service it already you need to watch videos how to turn off the light.

I will be worried about the check engine light

It means they are not recommended oil for generator

Last time I used 5w 30 in generator,
It ended up been too light for the engine and oil blow by which cause serious smoking and damaged the rings…

It works well but too light for the engine

This happened on my way back from Kaduna to Abuja this January. Being quite wary of the insecurity on the road I made to leave around 10am and planned to spend the minimum time on the road.

Consequently, I had to engage in some mild commando style driving so I averaged a speed of about 140km/h. I didn't stay long behind any vehicle and always aimed to have a clear road ahead. Thankfully we were just 2 in the car and there wasn't much load in the trunk so the vehicle picked up nicely.

The drama happened shortly after Jere, road wasn't too good but not bad either. Mr Mercedes must have linked up from Jere and was headed towards Abuja as well coasting at about 110km/h using eye judgement. Based on comparative speed, I soon caught up behind them, honked for an opening as two cars were beside each other and made to leave them behind as I passed.

From my observation, the car was packed with about 5 men, windows all wound up with AC. Car definitely looked new as well. From Mr C-class behavior, I judged he wasn't too happy as I attempted to reeze past him. He tended to pick up speed once I found an opening but a pothole in front forced him to slow down. Fortunately my left side of the road was clear with a much smaller ditch which I cleared with ease (thanks to wide tyres) as made up the hill as it was kind of a valley section. Mr C-class as I'll like to refer to him from now on, made to catch up with me thereafter but I guess the load he was carrying and the fact that we were going uphill gave me an advantage. I noticed he was trying to catch up so I turned off Eco mode, switched off the AC and stomped the vehicle to about 160km/h leaving him behind fast.

Just a few kilometers ahead, the road became smooth and straight and I surged forward, overtaking other vehicles and gaining a good lead. By now, I didn't see Mr Benz again...or did I? Yes I did! Although he was merely a small dot, I noticed there was something different, he had started gaining momentum. Evidently he had joined the good patch of road.

This reminded me of an experience in 2017. I was driving a Toyota Hilux as well but the 2007 year. A stubborn white w202 started gaining on me from the rear on a smooth tarred road and no matter how hard I tried (I do a lot of spirited driving), this guy gradually reined himself in, caught up with me, overtook and gave me a wide gap till he was invisible. Seems I'm having a deja vu.

Well, I stormed up to about 170km/h but for where, Mr Mercedes had cleared all the cars between us and was right on my tail. He caught up and passed! I gaped at my speedometer as he overtook and saw that I was topping 180km/h but at the speed with which he overtook, this guy was nothing less than 210 -220km/h. He had cracked open his windows a bit, definitely AC is now off and his tailpipe was squirting water vapour like crazy. I was stumped man. Dude didn't stop until he had at least 10 cars between us. I jejely came back to 140km/h and carried my L with pride.

Truly, German cars deserve the respect.

I’ve been using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic from day 1.

It goes up to 330 when I reset the ECU by taking off the negative battery head terminal. After driving and the fuel goes down, I refill again and it keeps going down until it stays at 220 again

Try removing the car key completely before they start refueling..

When my 05 ES 330 just came in, I got 209. After some sticking caliper repair, I got 220. Car hasn’t been service that time. After 3k on the oil that came with the car, I finally service the engine with Mobil 1 full synthetic.

Last week Tuesday after a refuel, I saw 324 on a fill up. I was so amazed.

I learnt the best way to get accurate range while filling up is by removing your car key completely while filling your tank…
