Guys I need your help. I changed my car engine oil last week, and I noticed there's a leakage at the bottom plate. this made the engine oil to constantly dropping.
i have replaced another bottom plate yesterday, but we noticed the oil is now short. the mechanic advised me to top oil, since it's just last week I changed oil.

what do you advised, should I discharge all the oil and put new one or I should buy a litre and let the mechanic top it?

There is this liquimolly catalytic cleaner. It’s sold for 4-5k is suggest you give it a try first. Might solve your issue

My car is taking time to change gears and I have taken it to a mechanic to fix, He removed the bottom plate and changed the filter.
Filled it with Oando 5liters.

But still the issue is still there. As of this morning the car refused to engage a gear at all.
When I try putting it to R, N or D, it won't engage.
I offed the car and wait a little time and I on the car again, the gear now engaged. But I'm hearing one whinny sound under the gear box.

Wait who tell you say na the right oil be that ?? I think you just killed your gear yourself. Those gear uses Toyota genuine T4

You took a vehicle to the expressway, a definitely poorly maintained vehicle considering that you're the owner or driver, and then drove at speeds far above the designated speed limits, and the vehicle tyres had a blowout.

Instead of you to put 100% of the blame on yourself and your very poor decision making abilities, you decided to blame the vehicle.

Yes, it has to do with my gearbox, haven't serviced it close to a year now and all I was doing was just topping up the oil, but my engineer suggested I change the filter and change the oil.

Do you have a leak ?? Why do you have to be topping the oil?

Good morning all.

My car is not reaching the recommended operating temperature. It hovers between 65 and 75 deg. Celsius. It only gets to up to 80 when I sit long in the traffic, but hardly goes beyond 80 no matter the external temperature. I even use the AC 90% of the time.

The manual says the normal operating temperature should be between 85 and 105 deg. Celsius. I changed the thermostat last week, and the only difference was that it doesn't go below 70 anymore, but still would not reach 80 easily.

The point is that the mechanics would readily tell you that even 20 is normal as long as the car is not overheating, that you should even count yourself lucky. Which is why many would prefer to remove the thermostat entirely.

But I have studied operating temperatures and the effect of low temperature on the engine (wear) and fuel economy. I use oil specification of 5w30.

I just stumbled onto the claim that thermostats have rating, that is, some maintains a temp of 70, others 75, 80, 90, etc.

Please I need the gurus in the house to advise me. Should I continue to drive the car as it is?

I bought a fairly used lexus ES350 2007 almost a year ago and it’s been running fine except from some few electrical issues which are easily fix
But day before yesterday my friend ask for my battery to start his car
I gave him the battery and he use it to start his car
And since then when I fix the battery back and start my car I noticed my car vibrates a lot
From the steering to the seats when it’s moving or not

My Honda Civic is Consuming Fuel Excessively!!!

Hello guys, please my 4 cylinder, 1.8 engine Honda Civic, 2009 model, is consuming fuel excessively, on a full tank, I'm getting about 15/16 miles per gallon on city and few highway driving, instead of 29/30 as expected.
I get only 200 miles instead of the standard 383 miles on a full tank, which is appalling.

A full tank of 8k will be exhausted after about 3 to 4 trips to and from mainland-island (ikeja-VI), and this is not economical for me at all.
At times, I question my decision on buying the car as I understood that it and Toyota corolla had the best fuel consumption, based on popular opinion, before I purchased it.

I bought the car as Tokunbo with a mileage of over 100k, also, there was no catalyst in it (the pot was empty), so I purchased and fixed a new catalyst for N40,000, this increased the mileage from 200 miles to just 215 miles on a full tank, which is very infinitesimal.

In addition the Check engine light has refused to clear even with the new catalyst replacement, it has been throwing up error code P0420 “Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1).

My mechanic is now suggesting a fuel system overhaul, he suggested checking and/or replacement of the fuel pump, air filter, spark plugs, fuel injector and other accessories, which does not go well with me after buying and fixing a new catalyst for 40k.

Please what can be the probable cause of this anomaly auto experts?
I will greatly appreciate your contributions.

How sure are you the catalyst the mechanic bought is the original Mesh catalyst?? Not the net they cut and weld?? Or chinko catalyst

I have been there with p420 on my camry big daddy before, I changed bought the 2 sensors but the light still stays until I bought the tokunbo catalyst(Stolen from another car while coming into the country cos mine was stolen at the port too) and erased the check engine light, I didn’t see it again for 4 years now. Car is even with new owner.

My point is, they might put a “net” catalyst into the pot for you and you won’t know since it will quench the noise. Also I had a bad mileage during those times.

But if the original catalyst was bought, the light will stay off.

Mechanic do that to cut down the cost. The total fixing of the NET version for your car will cost only 9k-15k against the 40k you paid.

The factory 55 to 60. Without touching factory shocks. Car is higher and I still have to drive slowly in pot holes. Changing Tyre is your answer
