@seun28, it is good you are starting now to think about applying. Once you land, book your appointment with the US embassy cuz there are hardly any space but at least you will be applying after summer so that's good. Of course they will give you. They will give you up to 5 yrs. Congrats and which of the schools in Toronto will you be attending? Is it for graduate or undergrad.?

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Questions! by Hotstepper(f): 12:57am On Aug 02, 2010
@timbercharles, really pray so they work out sumthing for you cuz since they dont have a winter admission, it means they cannot really do anything as all their courses or most are full year courses that run from Sept-April. In terms of when to apply for Visa, just bear in mind that you have to submit it at least 3 months prior to the time school resumes. Also have in mind that they will need to re-issue you another admission letter that says its for Winter term b4 u can apply for Visa. In terms of money, have enough, Good Luck
TravelRe: Visiting Visa To Canada by Hotstepper(f): 5:12pm On Jul 31, 2010
@all, In most cases, you need someone in Canada to write you a letter of Invitation but its not a MUST requirement. Once you have enough money to take care of yourself including hotel, you will be fine.
You can get all the information including application form from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp
It should be submitted at their embassy in Lagos, I believe its in VI, make Google your friend

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Questions! by Hotstepper(f): 2:38am On Jul 29, 2010
Just forget it, defer your admission to Jan. if your school has a winter semester cuz you should have applied for a visa 3 months prior to the start of school which is 1st of june,
B/w, even paying full school fees does not give you an edge

TravelRe: COMING TO CANADA??? Choose British Columbia by Hotstepper(f): 1:19am On Jul 22, 2010
@AMG, it depends on your status in your country of residence. If you have no status, you have to apply in your native country.

@99dreamkid, you mean last date to enroll in courses in on da 19th? you should be able to enroll in classes even if you are in Nigeria
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by Hotstepper(f): 3:39pm On Jul 19, 2010
@99dreamkid, time line is different for every1. I know my cousin was worried last year too but after his medicals, he was not called for an interview and his visa was given to him. So each case is different nd since they know when fall semester starts, you will hear from them. Which school are you going to? 1st week of school is always more of introduction by profs, buying of books etc and even till 3rd week, you can still catch up as people are still dropping and enrolling in courses, Good luck

@Delta007, It is possible he can get a full tuition refund as far as he did not attend any class, well I know with my school though
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by Hotstepper(f): 2:52pm On Jul 19, 2010
Delta007, thank you so much. Once your study permit expires, the SIN also expire, I know a lot of Int. students take advantage of some things nd end of screwing it for the rest
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by Hotstepper(f): 2:10pm On Jul 19, 2010
@debosky, Ic, In that case, was the SIN just for the school job or for outside as well?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by Hotstepper(f): 1:24am On Jul 19, 2010
@Rare, we r saying the same thing. Technically, a full academic year is 6 months
@Shilling, u got yours after 3 days cuz you have your PR but as for International students, it is never evaluated differently, After all, Int. students by virtue of things should have enough money 2 support themselves. In worst cases, schools normally have emergency bursaries for international students just like in my school
