Politics › Re: Soyinka Breaks Silence: BIAFRA (igbos) SUFFERED GENOCIDE During Civil War by huptin(m): 8:19pm On May 10, 2013
I still maintain that nigeria vs biafra was a war of blame. I still cannot see the logic in forcing people to stay in a union. Even if its true that the biafrans were marching towards lagos, the yoruba should have stopped attacking them immediately they were repelled back to their land. I am a full blooded yoruba man and not all yorubas are happy with the genocide perpetrated against the igbos. In any case let bygone be bygone and lets move forward.

gratiaeo: Me play Yoruba music? God forbid
You dont have to, people that matters do, if bill clinton does, then who are you?. If they keep winning grammies and being inducted into Hall of fames all over the world, you think they care if you listen or not?

mikeapollo: Why the abuse? Why the insults?

Well, I am well bred with good home-training, so I dont trade abuses and insults online.
You are free to exhibit the kind of training and upbringing you are made of.

What I wrote about Obey and Sunny are the facts. Obey was the first person to introduce multiple guitars, western drum kits among other numerous innovations, but he does not brag, unlike Sunny. Obey was the one that modernised Juju music before Sunny joined the train!

Sunny Ade has two grammy awards nominations and won the best POP music performance at the world music awards in 1992. does Obey come close?

Who is Alaafin of Oyo in music? What does Alaafin know about music? What authority does Alaafin have in music?
So what happens if Ooni of Ife or any other Oba should just wake up and say some other musician is the king of Juju or Fuji or whatever? Obey avoided calls for him to be crowned as King by other Obas in Yoruba land like the Alake and Ooni.
Dont be deceived by some people who give some spurious awards to their favourite musician.May be you dont know that most of the so-called awards are solicited and arranged by the musicians themselves in order to boost their profile and marketability!Do you know how many 'Kings' we have in Fuji music now?
Well, I dont blame you if you do not know....you have already displayed your level of maturity in your first sentence

Obey is better than Sunny in all aspects of Juju music, except stagemanship and dancing.
What Obey lacks in stage craft, he covers with un-paralled ability in great lyrics, compositions, arrangement, instrumentation, percussions, delivery etc. His songs are timeless.

Obey's kind of musician is very rare...If you do not know, go and ask your elders!

7842I: There have never been anybody with half the bravery of Ojukwu in the whole of yorubaland, and from the look of things, there will never ever be a war hero of yoruba extraction!
Laughing in greek, if ojukwu is a war hero, what about Obasanjo who entered into the heart of Biafra to collect the surrender instrument from Effiong, while ojukwu was on his way to cotedivoire dressed like a woman.

Onlytruth: You have a very dark soul, and I have decided to interact as little as possible with dark souls henceforth.

So, I would say this once to you and then leave you to continue on your usual path.

History states that Ojukwu never planned nor wanted war. He went to Aburi and painstakingly negotiated a peaceful settlement (an internationally supervised Accord) to end the Nigerian crisis.
Everybody, including Gowon, signed onto that Accord happily, raised glasses, hugged and all the rest, only for Gowon to return to Nigeria to trash the Accord. History also recorded that Gowon was the first to order a military action against Eastern Nigeria. All these are facts. Ojukwu never initiated any war; Gowon did.
History also shows that Ojukwu was given a burial which even Nigerian presidents never got. His fame is all over Africa and people like Jerry Rawlings graced his funeral. His coffin was carried by GENERALS in the Nigerian army. These are FACTS.

I am not a fan of Gowon, but this got me cracking, Ojukwu got a burial former presidents never got? Jerry Rawlings came to his burial? and thats all? Oga when former presidents die, a public holiday is declared and all flags fly at half mast. Did Ojukwu get all that? bros organising jamboree all over the place is not the kind of honour given to ex presidents.

Now, lets wait for your hero Gowon to die, and lets compare notes then.

Bye. cool

Did Abacha die after eating an apple? and did oduduwa descendants have 8 years to rule instead of the four they initially asked for? strategic thinking my dear, you dont have to sacrifice millions of people to achieve your goal.

The difference between Soyinka and Achebe if so clear, one was a bigot, the other a pan africanist. The professor enjoys a world wide recognition but Achebe prefers the honour of his people only, thats very instructive.

Politics › Re: Illegal Structures Demolished In Ladipo Market by huptin(m): 12:50pm On Mar 05, 2013
PointB: Imagine a big market like Ladipo without a central dump site, yet some clowns are praising the government for the inanity of closing the market. Why didn't the government provide this facility and see if it will be put to use or not before closing the market? It's little wonder why Lagos State itself is one big junkyard. A state where the government pockets tax-payer money, plant flowers, and then do fvckall with the rest of the loot.

Now taxpayers still have to plead with government to their job, in providing the simplest of facility. If this simple plea is not granted, I surmise that Ladipo, and every other markets in Lagos State and beyond will remain a sh1t-yard for aeon. This is very fundamental.

your statement shows clearly the kind of parasitic attitude non lagosians exhibit towards the state, they want to come from their respective villages, make good money in lagos and turn the place into a junk yard.I do not really like Fashola, but on this? he has my 100 per cent support.

Shameful.

Hello my igbo brothers, fashola does not target any paricular group of people by his actions, the guy is seriously in need of money, the lagos state government is desperately in need of money for obvious reasons, and like a drowning man, who holds on to any straw, they are aggressive in their revenue mobilisation. Fashola and Tinubu are one and the same, brutal thieves that have devised an ingenius means of deceiving the people with illusions of performance, while carting away their resources. It is my belief that this house of sand will eventually collapse on

thelastPope: I thought they said this man is intelligent. He just keeps blowing it! Without oil, lagos will be like Ekiti state. 75% of businesses in lagos are directly or indirectly dependent on the oil industry. Where will he get the tax from? Without oil, over 60% of Lagos population will return to states to farm. Where will he get the revenue from? He just doesn't get it. The whole structure and business flow of Nigeria will change without oil. States like Delta, Akwa ibom, Cross rivers, Rivers will be forced to fully utilize their ports. He just doesn't realise that the real beneficiaries of nigeria's oil are Lagos and Abuja. The ND state just started collecting 13% a few years back. Lagos has been benefitting since the 60s. Festac town was built entirely with oil money.
so there was oil in nigeria in 1945?, please google lagos in 1945 and compare it with your state now, please note that calabar was the first capital of nigeria and not lagos Thank you.
Politics › Re: Only Lagos Can Survive Without Oil – Fashola by huptin(m): 7:00pm On Jan 18, 2013
kettykin: This is very laughable and a good joke , will lagos take 100 % revenue for a port it did not build , lagos can as well take 100% of the airfare from MMIA

If lagos does that all the coastal local governments from bakassi to ondo will be filled with ports .
Lagos has no economy take it or leave it .

The banks/ Media houses are owned by Delta igbos and south south , the oil the oil companies drill by Niger delta, the telecom companies by foreign investors infact a good number of the SMEs are owned by outsiders and non yorubas .
Fashola should just apologise for the gaffe to apologise for gaffes is normal.
So banks like GTB, Firstbank, Union Bank, Skye Bank, sterling Bank etc are owned by Delta Igbos? these are the top banks in nigeria kindly carry out a research on their ownership structure. Also the only indigenous telecommunications company is owned by Delta Igbos?Hmmmm people and self deceit, the truth is: lagos will survive without oil, infact it is the heart beat beat of nigeria, oil contributed about 5 trillion naira to the nigerian economy last year, the lagos port alone contributed 2.3 trillion naira, not including the funds from tax. And like i say if lagos is not good, kindly leave, lagos sure look better each time the so called Delta Igbos go home for xmas and new yam festival. Thank you.

futoprince: ''According to NBS, national unemployment rate stood at 23.9 per cent at the beginning of 2012.
The Statistician-General of the NBS, Dr. Yemi Kale, had said 112.519 million Nigerians, representing 69 per cent, lived in relative poverty conditions''.
You don't need to be a maths genius, to see through the crappy statistics. An unemployment rate of 23 percent resulted to 69 percent poverty. This means that more than 40 percent of the employed also live in poverty. This is ridiculous to say the list.
And somebody will pocket millions if not billion of Naira for this fraudulent statistics while others are rejoicing and celebrating their poverty index on paper. Some comments made by folks here on Nairaland is a clear indication that mental poverty is more of a plague in Nigeria than physical poverty.
The fact that you are employed does not neccessarily mean you will not be poor, many nigerians work for a pittance and yet they are poor, even a cart pusher is employed. Employment does not neccesarily translate to wealth.

i will never rate messi above average except he leaves la liga and play else where, its easy to stay and enjoy all the good work being done xavi, Iniesta and co, while playing in an attack oriented league, where nobody dare touch strikers. let him come to the premiership and score 91 goals he will probably spend the next season on a wheel chair.

As it stands now, the figures do not favour Goodluck, the most populated regions do not seem to like him, The north will definitely not vote for him, the south west is almost out of his grip, even the south east does not seem to like him, only the least populated region (south south) will likely vote for him, if democracy is indeed a game of numbers, i doubt he can win.

However nothing is impossible he has less than 2 years to prove himself, personally i dont think Jonathan is really a failure but he is perceived to be weak and indecisive and perception they say is everything.

2015 is around the corner let the best person win.
