Nice writeup, Op! Let me just add that we're now moving towards Pidgin (West Africa) or West African Pidgin, if you like. This will make it easier for Nigerians, Beninoise, Togolese, Ghanaians, Cameroonians, etc to have a central Pidgin language. And to be really fluent in Pidgin, you must be able to speak, read, and write. Na so the matter be. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Mono-Question Tests ! Is This the New Aptitude Test Trend In Nigeria? by iamclime(m): 7:05am On Mar 13, 2018 |
Polinpo is correct. I remember such funny but interesting questions in Managerial Economics during my MSc. Anyone with a good background in Economics, Business, Marketing, etc will likely get it right. The packaging and logistics remain fixed in this instance and only the actual transport cost will vary. So, the answer should be less than N38,000. We should all be prepared for such surprises at job tests these days. Even Business Schools/PG Schools are now using such tests. I once attended an MSc entrance test like that. I think I have also learned from some of the comments here. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Test Invite To GZ Industries Limited At Ogun State by iamclime(m): 8:16pm On Mar 11, 2018 |
bigbauer: GZI is at Agbara, pick a vehicle to Lagos, then Mile2, at Mile2 pick a bus to Agbara/Badagry, stop at Agbara, pick a bike to GZI at Opic Estate Extension (Iperin Gate) There may be hold up at Iyana Oba, to lasu Gate, so if u can, go through Iyana Ipaja, then pick a bus to Egbeda, at Egbeda pick another bus to Igbolerin (First gate) there you'll see Agbara Bus, follow same direction from Agbara to the company. You can still pass through Sango Ota, but Mile2 will be more straightforward while Igbolerin is faster, Sango Ota is a long journey. Best of luck.
FYI: They manufacture aluminum cans for canned drinks. This description is apt. I know GZI. They produce cans for the big names in the drink industry. Give it a shot. |

simplex2:

I can imagine the scenario.
Interviewer: Why do you want to leave your present place of work to join us?
Me: (goes ballistic) Fvcked up ars'holes! They take me for a slave...mvtherfckers didn't even give me a car as a sales person yet they expect me to generate market leads everyday! Who does that?
Interviewer: Huh?
Me: Yes, i have to be jumping molue at every turn! Then when I don't meet target, they cut 25% of my money in a stupid scheme they call variable pay.
Interviewer: Really?
Me: (now fuming) I have never ever gotten 100% of my pay, its either they cut it because of target, or because I missed a meeting or because I came late...silly excuses just to make sure I remain frustrated. And my co sales person never gets the same treatment because I seriously suspect she is sleeping with the line manager!
Interviewer: For real?
Me: Yes, the bit'ch screws even the HR manager, never gets a query, always getting paid 100% of her salary. But I learnt a lot of things in that place shaa.
Interviewer: Like?
Me: Never trust your boss! That's why I need this job...I suspect he is planning to sack me. i need to surprise him by resigning before he does that. Its called 'being ahead of the game'.
Interviewer: (smiles)
Me: So, when do I start? I don laff die for here! Dude, you are something else! Your writeup is an exposé of the thinking of many job seekers today. Hilarious, but very true. |

I have been vacillating about starting up on Fiverr for over a year! Finally made the move yesterday. I am into writing, research (academic and business), proofreading/editing, and translation. I enjoyed your writeup. I plan to learn as much as possible about the platform. As for my expertise in my fields, no problem with that. But I believe there is no end to learning; I'll keep updating my knowledge and skill. I have a question: How do you handle online payments, considering the volume of restrictions on Nigeria? |

jashar: What does illiterate mean? Having no formal education or no education at all? Does informal education count?
Why is she still referring to her husband as an illiterate sef?
What's my own? Same questions running on my mind. It's very hard to see someone who is totally illiterate. Not being able to read or write English does not make one completely illiterate, it only means one is illiterate in ENGLISH. The person may be able to speak, read and write OTHER languages! The same way Nigerians say mechanics, bricklayers, etc are not EDUCATED. And I ask, is formal education the only type of EDUCATION? |

brainpulse: I have always had bad experiences flying Dana on all occasions. The last 2 weeks, it had difficulties landing for 1 and half hours in port harcourt going up and down, it was one of the most dreaded time of my life and finally it landed. Going back to Lagos was bad, flight delayed from 5.00pm to 11.30pm, so many people went back. Flight from Abuja came to pick us eventually that night. I entered Lagos 12.45am. Bros, try to change your airlines for a while oo. Na so I board one yeye airline some years back, First Nation, as they call themselves. I was in a hurry to get back to Lagos for a meeting from Abuja and all other flights were fully booked. Omo, the flight no be here oo. Turbulence in the skies, craft shaking and bumping like crazy. Landing at Ikeja was another episode. We had to practically run out when it finally taxied to a stop |

ivandragon: lol...
seminar presentations, especially proposal & post field, can be very humbling experiences.
you go in there fully prepared & believing that your work is fairly solid only for some lecturers to just take the work apart & things that made sense just 10mins ago begin to look so 'dumb'...
but such criticism helps enrich the work & congratulations in advance of your viva voce....
one thing the op left out that can be just as frustrating is the issue of 'Forms' especially in Nigerian universities. you will fill form A, form K, form H etc & some if these forms take months to be processed by the appropriate authorities & it adds to the delays associated with the programme. You got the idea of how PhDs are run in Nigeria. I have attended several PhD presentations and seminars where the candidates ended up looking like educated fools with all the hard work they've/ they thought they've put in. In the Management Sciences, there also seem to be a lot of disagreement on concepts and methodologies. All of this academic wahala is often transferred to the candidate. But I admire the survivor spirit in many candidates I have come across with. |

Mr. Yemi (Peacemara54) is an honest businessman, as I can now confidently confirm. I decided to take the risk of buying from him.His honey is genuine and he delivers according to specification. I just got my consignment of honey today. The honey passed all the tests I conducted (the matchstick test, the water test, the paper test, etc). I recommend him to any Nairalander looking for real honey to buy. I can't wait to start selling to my newfound customers! Peace. |
