Jewessgratitud3: A colleague of mine called me last week and Said a woman needs a sounds teacher to come and take the child on sounds this summer to enable the child read before school resumes and that she wants someone with British diction. So, because I'm a diction instructor and have done that kind of job in the past ( like nine years ago) my friend recommended me.
Back then ( 2014) when I was into this home lesson full time, I was charging 25k per child and its three times a week and I pick the places I go to. No long distance thing. Now with the current situation of the economy and considering my age, I charged this woman 50k three times a week and she said it's too much. Meanwhile, the school the child is attending was where I taught before I left and started doing home lesson and their school fees then ( 2014) was 95k for prep class. By now it should be around 150k. My friend already told me the school the child attends.
She said it's too much that she can only afford 20k. I just ignored them. They will pay 150k for school fees, nothing much to show for it but will want to give you peanut and expect you to perform magic under 1month.
If I handle the child, no doubt, she'll read and her accent will change but definitely not for that amount. I'll now be trekking that long distance cos no bike and somebody is telling me 50k is too much.
Did I do wrong by ignoring them cos they want me to come and start this August but I have zeroed my mind there. Would you accept such amount for home lesson? If you want Quality Education, pay the charge. If you can’t afford it, look for alternatives. Never charge people less for your worth man because people do not value free things |
Romance › Re: I Cant Wait To Cook For My Gay Partner by IamtheTruth1(m): 7:20am On Jul 31, 2023 |
Flamemignon1: First and foremost, nobody is asking you to be gay,I don't know why you homophobes keep bringing the "I'd rather do this than be gay" line, it stems from insecurity because basically no one asked you to. Moreover, the way some people like you are obsessed with gender roles especially in this 21st century is not just funny but unrealistic because of the economical system we are in, it's no longer the industrial capitalist boom of the 20th century but to each their own and "cooking" isn't a feminine thing, you cook for the one you love if you want to and even if it's a feminine thing..... what's the problem there? No one is a 100% masculine or feminine,no one was appointed into a gender box when they were born,it was all social programming from ancient times,we all have both energies within us because gender at the end of the day is a social construct so I don't know why society feel the need to always shame feminity and praise masculinity because of how the former is deemed "weak", that's just misogyny and where homophobia stems from, the fact that femininity and women are seen as less than so anything that takes on submissive role is less than to homophobes,it even happens in the gay community where the tops shame the bottoms for being submissive, have you ever asked yourself why tomboys never receive half the hate and scrutiny femme boys receive?.
Also,if you were knowledgeable about same sex relationships, you will know how much we throw away gender roles and norms out the window, the whole dynamic of a same sex relationship is the exact opposite to an opposite sex relationship, even straight couples are beginning to copy the same sex relationship model, couples like Beyonce and Jay-Z say their relationship is genderless, they both work, cook, clean and buy each other whatever they want because they found gender roles to not just be shallow in today's climate but completely limiting, you are gonna put yourself in a box because you are a man, where's the diversity and spontaneity that they say is the spice of life in this regard?

Foreign Affairs › Re: AU Gives Niger Military Junta 15 Days To Return Bouzam To Power by IamtheTruth1(m): 3:44pm On Jul 30, 2023 |
nairalanda1: So it is millitary rule that would fix all those problems you mentioned?
Oga, I am not here to say that the corruption under civilian rule is OK. I am angry myself with APC, and yes even this subsidy thing is hell...it is the fact that I have seen the worse hell that happens when you run out of money totally that is making me tolerate subsidy removal, otherwise, I would have long since been on the street.
But millitary rule in Nigeria did not fix bad government, did not fix corruption, did not even fix any of the issues you mentioned. Infact, in 1966, when army overthrew the corurpt government of the first republic, everyone was happy. By 1975, the same army was running a corrupt show. Wasteful projects? E dey. Looting? E dey. Letting people go because they were from the right tribe? E dey kampe. Muritala taking over did not change things much...after the initial gra gra...infact that was when there was missing money in NNPC then, and the famous ITT contract corruption scam.
In 1983, Millitary overthrew civillans. Same reason, corruption, stealing etc. Within one year, the same issue were happening under Buhari and the economy was collapsing. IBB came , took over, inital gra gra...but the economy went down hill. Abacha came, and yes, he kept inflation down, but it no reach common man. Refineries were begining to fail under his regime....yes, that's when issues started. Did I mention that there was routine fuel scarcity under army rule.? Or there was repeated strike? Or the idea of mass jakpa began under IBB, continued under Abacha, etc etc.
And you want us to go back to army rule...because of some nice words by Nigerien leaders. The same thing Nigerien millitary leaders said, was said in the 1960's, 1970's even 1980's by their army rulers. New set after set after set. And their nation remained broke as eff.
Plus if Army rule was so nice in Nigeria, why did people die to bring you this civillian rule that you are crying about now?
Am sure you are one of those Obidents who is angry with Tinubu winning, that you want to get tinubu out because revenge? How about people like me that have never enjoyed any civillian ruler since 1999? Yes, all the civillian rulers we have had...TINUBU inclusive...have never ever met my taste, or are the kind of people that I imagine should rule Nigeria. Yet, because I know that under millitary rule, I would have been jailed incommunicado for writing that i hated millitary rule in a newspaper....I prefer our flawed civillian rule.
Yes Buhari ran us for 8 years. Yes he was harsh...but when he was a milltary ruler...oh my gods , the man has softened since that time. Back when Buhari was millitary ruler, he would jail people under laws that did not exist at the time, then pass a decree and backdate it to legalize the law. You want that to happen again? You want us to be run by the whims and capricies of a single man, because you feel we are not developed enough, and you are not having enough cheap stuff?
Finally, let me even tell you self, you guys sit down here and cry all day long about Nigeria not being like developed nations. Yet, when it is suggested you pay market price for power and petrol so that we can have functioning systems that work, you will cry poverty. Pay better school fees, poverty. Jail corrupt leaders, you will cry that this one or that one is our son, and he is being persecuted. You bypass meters and you wonder why you have no light. You prefer we have an economy based on just one income source, instead of doing the hard work that was done to diversify the economy. You are haling China...do you know how many years China took before it reached where it is? The harsh economic polices that needed to be done? You think it was by fighting corruption alone?
And you want us to be like CHina,....where people are jailed for life for being of the wrong religon, wrong belief, wrong tribe even? Ok. o.
You guys should stop thinking army rule will solve our problems. Nigerians themselves will solve Nigeria's problems. Yes our democracy is flawed, but part of the problem is that we don';t want to do the hard work of democracy. We want someone to spoon feed us good governance. It does not work that way. What the Bleep are u saying? Paying for better school fees and better power from where? Have funds not been released for Nigeria to Partner with Siemens, for us to have better lights, who stole the money? When has no one been held accountable? Now you want the common man to pay extra for the looting done by the politicians? You want to tax the soul of Nigerians yet their minimum wage is as low as that of Siri Lanka. How would it work? |

omohayek: As if you too wouldn't be crying if a bunch of thugs with guns aimed at your head were clearly planning to offer you up to the mob as a scapegoat to ease their way into power, regardless of what you might or might not have done! This sort of cheap propaganda has been the stock-in-trade of coup plotters right since the 1960s (e.g. Nzeogwu), yet they continue to roll it out, as they know there are masses of gullible, disgruntled souls who are ignorant of history and ready to eat it up.
What exactly do you suppose will happen if the coup-plotters get their way and stay in power? You think corruption will magically go away simply because the leaders are wearing khaki? That must be why the Nigerian government has recovered so much of Abacha's stolen loot abroad that he makes all civilian leaders before and after him look like a saint, or why $12 billion could simply disappear into thin air under Babangida's watch.
Anybody who supports this rank illegality is seriously stupid, especially if you happen to also be one of those simultaneously bleating about Peter Obi's "stolen mandate" [sic]. You cannot be complaining about alleged political irregularities in one country while cheering on the ultimate irregularity - sedition - in another, unless you have no moral principles whatsoever and are only motivated by a raw hunger for power at all costs. When you govern people and you do nothing for them, everyday they quality of living declines daily, insecurity and crime is one the rise… only those in power remain rich and the governed get poorer. It’s just a matter of time before the governed revolt. E no dey hard to know intelligent people that have become stupid just because they have compromised their sense of reasoning. You so love Tinubu that you now allow corruption and see You just dey gibberish. Go and look at Countries with strict sanctions against corruption. Don’t even reference the military because they are also corrupt. If you are against them then you must be stupid also. Until African countries impose strong rules on corruption then Africa will raise again. Do you know what China does to corrupt leaders that take bribes? They execute them or face life in jail. |
