Just for you..

From solving the liquidity crunch in the power sector. Shows how your favoried solution of price controls wrecked the power sector. Was not written by APC Or PDP By the way.

I'm done. Good afternoon
These are just filmsy excuses that as left the Power sector behind, all they do is forever complain,
In business, challenges/problem are inevitable, how you chose to mitigate is what gives a leverage to advance

Oga are you aware disco don't even have infrastructures that can transmit 4000mw a day ... what disco transmit everyday is below total generated power ...is that not under utility/wastage

If discos are recording loss its becos People can't be paying for darkness .. in my area total light supply we've had in 14days no reach 20hrs, and most houses here are on prepaid meter how disco no go loss, they crookedly pounce on postpaid customers with estimated crazy bills an expect them to pay for what they did not use ... go le werk, patch patch service will attract patch patch money simple

LIke I said, DSTV did not have their prices set by government. Power companies have their prices set by government, which is why they can't make an adequate profit, because government is forcing them to charge below what it costs to produce one kwh of power.

Na you wey dey miss cart for horse. Would your business prosper if government forces you to charge at a loss?

You guys want free stuff. APC PDP, LP Members. Y'all better wake up, ELectricity is very very expensive.

Like that DSTV. It was and always has been expensive. THat's why your analogy is wrong.
If you don't understand my point don't misconstrue, what you don't know ask
Dstv did not have there price set by govt cos it is FULLY owned by a private investor unlike Power sector wheregovt have a stake hence the price subsidizing ... note the difference

When i say Power sector should learn from dstv, i meant power sector should learn how to protect it investment from all loopholes, only then they can amasse desired ROI

Dstv will spend any amount to block hacking, dongles or vandalization, dstv is ready to out spend any prospective rival that,
When hitv out bid dstv for premier league dstv did price reduction, and make sure they out bid hitv for longer period ... then they hike there prices thats business acumen

Dstv were not crying to nigerians to 1st pay exorbitant fee so they can get back premier league tv right. Dstv is the most expensive paytv in Nigeria but it is the most acceptable brand .... why ?? think

Well, supplying power costs money, and all people look for return on investment

You won't charge N100 for a room in your hypothetical five star hotel, yet you want the DISCOS to do the same.

And when the inevitable happens you complain about bad service.

Face it, power costs money. A ton of money. And cost of things have no respect for any one's pockets.

We can get the discos to invest and give us 24 hour light, but they won't be able to maintain it on starvation tarrifs.
Seems you enjoy putting the cart before the horse, business generally cost money

if i setup a illusional 5 star hotel with plastic chair and bed infested with bedbugs customers will price me anyhow

Any investor keen on huge ROI must be also ready to invest huge, no be say you go do patch patch wan dey charge exorbitant fee.

Should disco invest well enough to guarantee 20hrs supply they will reap there money wella ... all they have to do is learn from Dstv

Though I disagree with that guy quoting outrageous price, retailers can fix any price they want.
There is no difference btwn you and the guy you disagreed with ... undecided
There is something called Profit Margin, which is computed from production cost,
no retailer can just wake and sell Coke/pepsi for 500 except lounge & 5 star restaurants

E.g Fuel pump price is #620 at filling station, but the retailer in my area from keg sells @ 660 .. meaning her profit margin is guided

So why are you opposed to discos setting their prices so that they can have enough profit to pay for improvements, pay the gencos and pay the TCN? And the gas companies?

Why do you oppose.the true deregulation of the power sector, which would mean more investment into things like mini grids.?

There is nothing like cheap power. Power sector suffers from lack of a cost reflective tarrif. That's why there is a lot of mess in the sector. Even with privatization for the last 11 years?
Investment preceeds Profit not the other way round, the reason we are resistance to disco setting there price is because nothing they have on ground can reflect "value for money".. You don't expect people to be paying for darkness, infact cost reflective is subservient to value for money
Lemme give you an instance, If you build a hotel calling it a 5star is not what makes it a 5star, the service, furnitures & fittings is what makes it a 5star hotel ... you can't put plastic chair in a standard room, charge 100k and expect customers to pay because you promise you will upgrade to upholstery as the money is coming in. you go gree pay
In the last 16yrs over $29bn as being invested in the power sector without results, thats tell there is a root cause that needs to be address ... cos even if Disco make all the money and corruption remains, nothing will ever change

whatever profit wan do for disco, $29bn suppose don do am cheesy

Las Las price will still come up to 1400 or 1500. Outside lagos 1700 or 1800. So what are we celebrating
Are you speaking as a novice or as a bad belle, how can dangote drop diesel at 1000 and retailers will sell @ 1500 (50% profit margin) haba
The only cost incured is logistics, highest pump price should be between 1100 -1200 depending on location. lets be reasonable

Power companies cannot, as a result all.the mess they have.
If you understand economic well enough, even govt setting the price is not ideal,
competitive market is what should set the price, that is the organic measure that can trickle efficiency and satisfaction

If you are not a GenZ, Ntel had as much mess as whatever Mess you envisage in Power companies but there is no sector TRUE reforms can not fix, they are not just ready nii

If Govt is ready let them fully unbundle and decentralized transmission company into state-owned, however most of these power plants are sold to politicians and not real investors that should be re-visited & fixed

But do you think that someone who made his dollar legitimately from selling real goods/service should also hurry to sell?

This advise and talking point is no longer making any sense. If the dollar I have predates this exchange rate madness why should I sell. Dollar holds its value and remain a good store of wealth irrespective of whether naira rises or falls.

Have the politicians including Tinubu sold all their dollars?
I get the angle you are coming from, infact my last comment i mention there are two kinds of people with dollars, those earning dollar and those that bought dollar as an investment .. the later are the enemies of Nigeria and the ones in big Mess cos they used hard earn naira to buy dollar , for them the devaluation is in the naira cost

what you bought @ $1/1700 is going to $1/900 .. dollar hold it value but your 1700 to $1 is gone wink

This is because the price of goods and services are not on a commensurate downward trend as the dollar is allegedly doing. This is why Reno Omokri propaganda of recent is only focused on this issue.
Is it dollar that is suppose to determine the prices of goods, or Forces of demand & supply

Worsen power supply to the extent that Nigerians make it a daily cry.

Then when the rains come and it improves a little below previous levels, boom, minions will roll out the drums on how power has tremendously improved under bat.

If one checks apc's governance history, that's how they operate.

Took dollar from 216 to 1,900, then down to 1,200. Rolls out party drums.

Took PMS from 87 to 600, brings it down to 580, calls it massive reduction.

Caused 50kg of rice to rise from 8k to 80k, then down to 70k, calls it evidence of reduction in cost of living.

See the pattern...
If you had use the same Analogy with PDP, you would have realize they politicians/govt are all the same

Under PDP did dollar not rise

From Obj to GEJ was Pump price not hiked and later produce after protest

On bag of rice check the price difference between the Obj era and what it was in GEJ administration

In an earlier thread,I stated that Nigeria is the only country in the world that economic activities are run on Diesel
Our energy mix is probably the worst in the world,in a country where people are struggling to produce electricity, you now mandate that all electricity produced should be sent to the National Grid, power is produced in Akwaibom and that power is sent to a Central Grid
That central grid now sends it to Companies in States who now resell it,this is why we will never progress
This Government must decentralize power, let us have Regional Grids for all the regions.
Coming back to MAN,I feel for them,I salute their patriotism because it is not easy producing anything in Nigeria
I also salute Dangote,I sincerely feel they can still reduce the price of Diesel, even if Government can intervene to ask that the price be reduced to at least 1000 naira,it will greatly reflect on the end users who desperately need respite
OGA even though I concur Energy/electricity is vital to Economic growth, even if the government slash the price of diesel to #500 .. Nigerian Manufacturers will still find a way to inflate/hike,
When diesel was reduced, it was dollar they heap the blame on claiming all raw materials are imported, now they have shifted the goal post back to Power. it all reeks of insincerity

The High cost of production that couldnt make Mtn & Econet sell there sim at affordable price Is what GLO incured and still manage to revolutionize the industry ...

Nigerian Manufacturers don't use overhead cost to decide price, rather they are more focus on imported rivalry product price as a Price template.

The most annoying part, the higher the price of a local product, the lower the quantity, quality and standard of the product, dem swear for us for these country

Are you aware the price of a bag of rice has dropped? Do you know why? It's because most of the rice we eat are imported. Imported goods will witness immediate reduction in prices because they are not produced locally. You cannot stock rice for too long. A shipload of rice cant be enough to feed lagos alone in a month so, you expect prices of such commodities to drop immediately as more shiploads of rice are being discharged.

Noodles for instance are being produced locally, pasta, too. They import the materials and keep in silos which could last 3-6 months. until they exhaust them and order to replenish, dollar crashes will not affect price per unit. gradually, if the trend improves, the economy will improve.
If thats your position they i stand to disagree, the indomie you mentioned as slashed price, why will indomie drop price and Sphagetti refuses to drop

If rice dropped becos of xchange rate why as Flour refuse to drop, or is flour not imported

I understand how stock and restocking works perfectly well, but in Nigeria case naa INSINCERITY dominate.

If govt don't take drastic action, local producers and traders will keep finding excuses to justify Price increase

Can you produce at the rate of 1,700 to a dollar and sell below production cost just because dollar has crashed to 1000 or below?. Remember production is continuous in the manufacturing sector. If they bought raw materials at 1,700 to a dollar and set the cost of their final product at 2,000 for instance, and they have loads of that raw materials in their warehouses, they must first exhaust those ones before producing with fresh ones bought at reduced imported costs.

Before the naira's strength could have some positive impacts, we will enter june or july.

Some Nigerians are actually wicked more than the politicians

On a normal market, Naira gaining or winning about goods and services should at least take a month before taking effects. Because those business people always have stocks that can last at least 1 month with no exaggeration.

But in Nigeria, the same day the dollar rose is the same day they will increase their price without interested in bringing it down again even when dollar fall.
