Some are here arguing that Lamps should be rested the Giggs way. Yet AVB is arguing that nothing has changed about Lamps game. . . AVB is just looking to play a different style. . . “Perhaps he has been playing less than usual, but those are technical decisions that we make, according to what is best for the team. “His stats this season are not different from the other seasons. Because of strategic reasons, we have made other choices. “Against Napoli we played with two midfielders in front of the defence and Mata as a No.10. Those are decisions to have to make before every game in terms of what we think is best for the team.” So no. . . . rumours of terminal physical decline are premature as I have proven earlier this season with the stat that Lamps covers more ground per minute than other Chelsea player. Leave Coogar to be rant reh reh reh. . . . against Napoli, Coogar was the only one raving that Chelsea were playing fantastic because Mata was playing no 10. I thought maybe I was going blind watching the game but thank God no one else supported his view that Chelsea were playing fantastic. Infact its one of the worst games Ive seen from Chelsea. |
Why ninjas dey worry about Ipukulu Marines? Top 8 na small thing. Keeping moving North in H2H whilst I move North in main league. End of day, I go still dey there for top 8 to whoze you. |
It doesnt have to be exciting, just effective. . . |
I never came first after Primary 1. The best I ever managed from Primary 2 to the end of Primary School was 3rd. . . . Soon as I started playing football in Primary 2, my grades had an inverse relationship to my football skills. . . . however I placed 4th in the whole of Rivers State in Common Entrance. . . that means when serious exam is on, boys buckle up! ![]() I dont think I ever placed higher than 4th in Sec School. . . . but I never placed lower than 12th in me whole life except in JSS2 when I became a badt guy and started messing about and came 14th. |
Some people here dey claim first but they came first in class B, C or D! If you no dey class A, make we hear word jare! |
^^^ per capita? OK! @ OP, Title is misleading. Interesting to see how a country with $19billion budget can afford $100bln before 2016. Am sure Naija is contributing a very miniscule amount if any at all. Granting exploration rights to these companies is perhaps our big contribution to this project. |
Age IS the problem with the team. . . The young boys are not performing! |
At the end of the day, Im interested to see what current players can do in the absence of width. Some Chelsea legends who overachieved in their day played without width for 5 years and took the team to finals, won cups and leagues and all sorts. I remember when Ballack, Maka, Lampard and Essien were playing a midfield diamond with DD and Sheva upfront. I remember when Lamps and Ballack were labouring to break through packed defence with no support from outwide. I remember when these Chelsea legends were slated and castigated by some peeps on here for not dribbling their way through packed midfield to score in tight games. God Bless those guys mehn cos current crop are showing relegation form without lack of width. |
nateevs:You mean the Europa league does? All hail Braga, CSKA, Spartak and Villareal!!! ![]() AVB pulled off a masterstroke getting past these teams with Porto. |
Gareth Southgate said you can never walk into any dressing room and fight against senior players. Even if the younger ones have your backing they wont produce on the pitch cos the senior players set the mood of the dressing room. AVB does not know how to deal with people. The same way he comes across in interviews is the same way he deals with players. Maybe he gets his sense of snobbery from his private school education. Perhaps he should move upstairs. Im sure hes good at scouting players being an ex-Championship manager fanatic. This is not Porto where you are dealing with small boys still trying to make their way in the game and hungry to get recognised. This is Chelsea where you convince big players that it is still worth fighting to keep their name at the top the game. No man can tell me that the Chelsea old guard (Terry, Lamps, DD, Anelka, Alex, Cole) cannot do much better than this if given full confidence of the manager. Since the old players cannot be sold due to their massive contracts, it woulda been better as a damage limitation exercise to let them see out their time with Chelsea in the confidence of a manager they would produce for like Hiddink. AVB coulda come in and done well after the last of them (John) Terry's contract expires in 2 years. Phase DD and Anelka out in 2012, Phase Lamps and Malouda out in 2013, then phase Terry out by 2014. These guys woulda produced for Hiddink till their contract expires. Instead what we have is an expensive gamble of gargantuan proportions. I so regret signing Meireles. I thought we needed bodies in midfield especially with transfer window closing and Essiens injury but Im seeing a lackadaisical attitude in his game which I never saw at Porto (Didnt watch him close at Liverpool). The dude is busy playing passes with the outside of his foot with the attitude that "if it reach the man, e reach the man". The guy is not careful in possession as I knew him to be at all. |
Let Nateevs keep talking. Me I dont wanna sound like a broken record. In 2008 some people told us Scolari had no tools and things woulda been different if we had Robinho. Guus Hiddink blew that myth away in 1 match. You would know when you see players playing on the pitch whether the manager has their confidence or not. Anyone who doubt, watch as Ashley Cole escorted Maggio from the halfway line into his own box in the first half. Watch as players dont scold each other when their teammates make mistakes. Infact when players make mistakes, they all collectively shrug their shoulders and say "Dont worry bros, the manager's a dickhead anyway". Shebi una remember when Ashley Cole gave the ball to Torres abi Kuyt against Liverpool in 2008 when they hammered us 3-0? Petr Cech told him not to worry, afterall no be Scolari go hear am? ![]() Meanwhile where is Anelka? Bros abeg consider this situation well. Kai! We miss that guy badly. I would just leave AVB with this quote from Avram Grant (A manager with 66% win record in comparison to AVB's 42%): "My advice to Andre [Villas-Boas] is to try and do his job and win games. What will happen will happen.” |
Well lets see the starting line up against Birmingham innit. No DD, Lampard, Terry or the old brigade. Mostly his Iberian bros who always take to the press claiming they are united behind AVB. |
According to that ex-Middlesbrough dude on PressPass, "its the players who back AVB who have been failing Chelsea in recent weeks". "Perhaps its time to hand shirt back to those he's beefing with cos they can do a better job". |
coogar:Sessegnon is fed scraps and Torres is fed scraps. Difference between a good player and a dud. Sessegnon >>>>>> Torres |
Dudu, How much cash did Arsenal just make from the Sunderland defeat? ![]() |
coogar:Also the same position that Walcott plays for Arsenal, Hazard plays for Lille and Boateng plays for Milan. Di Natales returns of 11-18 goals per season in that position is as good as any other player. |
coogar:Antonio Di Natale was playing as a winger in a front three till 4 years ago. @ all, Lets just be patient and see whether the team would improve with DD and Kalous return. I dont believe in compounding mistakes. We have invested £50m in AVB and his backroom staff (transfer + wages over the length of their contracts). The next 3 games should tell us whether he is able to squeeze us over the finish line in 4th place, so for now lets not be hasty to throw away £50m that we will need for squad reinforcements. I already warned last January that spending £50m on Torres would cripple Chelsea squad for the next 2 years. I knew that money was money we should have normally used to refresh three or four positions in the squad. . . something we have been unable to do because of the suicidal investment in Torres. Lets just hold our horses for now especially considering the dearth of top managers available on a free (with the exception of Capello). |
Lamps has scored only 2 penalties and 9 clean goals this season. Chelsea lost 5-3 to Arsenal because of Lampard (after Lampard had given Chelsea the lead and AVB was still playing gung-ho footie). Apparently Lampards pressing up high wasnt good enough in the game. ![]() BTW, what happened to the esteemed high-pressing tactic? ![]() I feel sorry for some Johnny-come-lately heroes being touted at Chelsea who are falling flat on their face. I wonder if they will ever be able to emulate a true Chelsea legend: 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year - Silver Award 2005 Ballon d'Or - Silver Award FWA Footballer of the Year - 2005 UEFA Club Midfielder of the Year - 2008 World XI - 2005 PFA Fans' Player of the Year - 2005 Premier League : Player of the Decade, (2000–2009) according to official statistics[11] Premier League : Best player (2) - 2004–05, 2005–06 England Player of the Year - 2004, 2005 UEFA Euro 2004 Team of the Tournament Premier League Player of the Season - 2004-05, 2005–06 Chelsea Player of the Year - 2004, 2005, 2009 PFA Premier League Team of the Year - 2004, 2005, 2006 ESM Team of the Year - 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2009/2010 FWA Tribute Award - 2010 Premier League : leader in assists - 2004–05 : 16 assists, 2009–10 : 17 assists FA Cup: Best player - 2006–07, 2008–09, 2009–10 Carling Cup : Best player - 2004–05, 2006–07 Premier League : Midfielder with the most goals in premier league history - 145 goals Chelsea F.C. : Top goalscorer - 2004–05, 2005–06, 2007–08 Dyabman. . . . . Ramires and other underachievers have a loooooooong way to go! ![]() |
How come no mention for Rogerio Ceni, the goalkeeper who has scored 56 freekicks in his career to date? |
AVB case is quite simple. You walk into club where some of the most important players are getting old, however these players have a track record of performance. If you empower Anelka, DD, Lamps, Terry, Alex, Cole, Ivanovic. . . . they will guarantee you a certain level of performance - Champions League qualification as a minimum. Perhaps a coach like Hiddink would chaperone these players until the end of their contract. Now these players have been at the club a number of years and have proven themselves superior to certain duds namely Bosingwa, Torres, Ferreira, Mikel etc. So the coach comes in and says "I am going to make generational change" and instead of true change, he starts empowering the likes of Bosingwa, players who have been around to no effect whilst sidelining the likes of Alex, Anelka, and even Lampard and DD. Now tell me whether these confirmed failures are the ones to effect "generational change"? Imagine going to Milan two years ago and telling Pirlo, Zambrotta, Seedorf, Gattusso, Nesta and Ambrosini "You guys are getting old so its time for Daniele Bonera, Antonini, Djamel Mesbah and Kakha Kaladze to shine". ![]() Now the same manager is telling players "It doesnt matter whether you buy into my project as long as Abramovic buys into it" Tell me this is not a manager hoping to get sacked so he can collect his payoff. |
If you werent being intentionally facetious, there would be no need to even respond to your stupidness. Bosingwa takes a poor throw intended for Meireles, doesnt reach him, Lampard leaves his marker to come across and help out, although he even has no right to be there, hits the ball against Cahill and the ball drops fortuitously to Pieenar. Meanwhile Josephine Bosingwa who cocked up the throw still fails to keep with Pieenar from start to finish, yet an eediot like Coogar still comes here to point fingers at Lamps. Pray tell, how well did the team do in Lamps absence. I heard Torres scored 5 hattricks whilst Mata made 15 assists. |
Make una leave Coogar. Where did Lampard assist Pieenar? - another twisted ploy from the mind of Coogar much like Nateevs fantasy about Nani's second goal at OT. I feel sorry for the rest of Chelsea team that Lampard is their top scorer. If such a poor player could be the most productive, I feel sorry for the rest of them. Thank God Lampard was missing in January when they were playing like pregnant women. If anyone has sense, he would conclude that Lamps is the one being let down by poor teammates given his record over the years and the fact he is still their most productive player in a season where he only plays part-time. Kai Gansiya! Thank God Inter Milan have shown themselves to be a poor team otherwise some peops would claim Sneijder is the problem since they have lost every single match Sneijder played this year. Lemme guess. . . . Mata and Torres were killing it until Lampard came back to spoil their show. Silly Coogar! ![]() Meanwhile, further evidence of AVB poor man-management skills: "They don't have to back my project, said Villas-Boas. "It's the owner who backs my project." The guy thinks he is still playing Championship Manager where players are computer codes. |
For all those saying player power this and that, simple fact: AVB is a poor politician and a poor man manager. He has no redeeming qualities cos his tactics and substitutions on the pitch are just as dire as his man management off it. He went from saying he would create "philosophy" and "strategy" to having no strategy, no style of play and no identity on the pitch. |
There was not a single player aged over 31 against Swansea, QPR and Norwich yet Chelsea laboured. . .its obvious the young ones are not as good as the old ones they replaced. . . |
DJ Amangala in the building. . . . yepaaaaa!!! Wheres my bro DJ DK. . . . . lets rock this place. . . [flash=400,300] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV4E_F5KBSs[/flash] |
I also grew up close to and met General Boyloaf on many occassions. Makes me a militant innit? This is the Obama - Jeremiah Wright/ Bill Ayres approach. What a load of crap. |
Chelsea fan on DM: On the subject of players having watched Chelsea for obver 42 years I cannot understand why villas boas continues with Josephine Bosingwa or Florence Malouda as neither are putting in any effort, Josephine gave the ball away to Pienaar on Saturday and then just trotted along behind him and threw her hands in the air when Pienaar scored. Florence just strolls about the pitch and gives about 5 minutes of effort every game. Yet Josephine is preferred at right back to Ivanovic, and avb took Essien off for Florence. I sincerely hope Josephine and Florence are the first two out the door at the end of the season. |
Welcome to the world of Money-foolish GEJ. Something the wise ones warned about a long time ago. From having no debt to massive debtor in 18 months. |

Wetin bros dey apologise for? AVB? AVB is a sorry coach who needs apologies. Players are busy telling him their mind in front of Abramovic. Useless coach! |
When I first read Dupes post I thought that he had meant to say tortuous. I will willingly admit that I did not think the word torturous existed. Having read many books where the word tortuous was used, I thought that was the correct spelling of the word that expresses the feeling of being tortured. When Coogar raised the point and Dupe corrected him, all it would take (like I did) would be to run over to google and check for himself. But no, the fork-tongued liar resorted to fallacious claims that Dupe had modified his post. How about some hands up and admit that like me you got stumped between the words torturous and tortuous? Its something as innocent as people who think the right spelling of expatiate is expantiate. . . . and should not be the cause of kerfuffle on our thread. |
