Exonerate1: You're very funny. James lost the ball, kovacic failed to close down his man but you want to blame kepa?
Kepa is the only reason that scoreline wasn't embarrassing
Stop your whataboutism, shit always happens in football. You can even blame Felix or Sterling for losing the ball earlier if you are determined
We are talking about a repeated weakness. What would make Vinicius run from approximately 22 yards out, connect with the ball 7 yards out (a distance of about 15 yards) and Kepa who started the move 6 yards away is still on his goal line. The short man is always afraid to claim aerial balls. He is not good enough and must go in the next transfer window, simple
Greatihex: Yann Sommer stands at 1.83m (6ft 0in) while Kepa stands at 1.86m (6ft 2in) yet we won't look at Sommer as being short for a keeper. Kepa matter tire me. But, like you said, I don't have any blame for him for the goals tonight. But, I don't have confidence in him in between the sticks. He doesn't have a commanding presence.
Sommer is short, doesn't command his area, and collected his own criticism yesterday
Kepa does not stand 6 ft 2, players official stats are sometimes manipulated. Kepa stands 6ft 1 at most. I have seen Kepa stand next to Silva many a time and the difference between them is imperceptible, 1 inch at most. Thiago Silva is 6ft flat
raumdeuter: When I see Kroos dey bully Felix for ball na him I know say matter tie wrapper
Kroos wey be ajebor sef
Felix offers no strength or hold up play coming short, no pace in behind
Him and Havertz together is compounding our weakness and magnifying it. Havertz though a weakling, is actually decent at jumping with defenders, but offers no dribbling in-behind and not that much pace
So combining Felix with Havertz removes our threat completely
Say what you want about Werner but Werners threat in-behind gave another dimension, that you can play to Havertz feet or for Havertz to jump, or you can bouday into space for Werner
Havertz and Felix combination is so easy to defend against and the Felix experiment should be scrapped immediately. It's like we carried our own hand to implant weakness in our forward line, with our very own forward version of Jorginho
Itsrm: Thats what I thought in real time but not when I watched the replay. I would say you try and watch it again but I doubt you'll change your stance.
I also watched the replay. Kepa is out of the frame in the replay until it gets to Vinicius so you will think he is far off
It's just simple Maths, ball cannot hang in the air that long, land in the 6 yard box, and keeper should not be there
Kepa spreads panic through his defence by not commanding his area, it's that simple.
The distance Vinicius ran to get to that ball is more than twice the distance Kepa would have to run from his starting position to the edge of 6 yard box even if Kepa was standing on his goal line to begin with. Kepa simply refused to come off his line as usual with his short man syndrome
raumdeuter: Jorginho didnt play a single minute vs Brighton when you conceded 4
Chelsea don concede 31 goals in the league, 5 of them Jorginho was not on the field(Brighton and City) leaving 26
Of the 26 conceded, 12 have been between January and now that Jorginho left so you conceded 14 when Jorginho played any part of the game, That includes games where Jorg was on the bench or had left the field when the goal has been scored
Jorginho left end of January.
I had done the calculation and we had conceded 12 in 13 games since Jorginho left before today. Today makes it 14 in 14, so conceding goals is no longer our major problem. Jorginho is not a factor. We were losing with him, we are losing or drawing without him in tight scorelines, usually a long range strike against Kepa. Unless Jorginho is a striker, we are not missing him one bit
We sold the defensive Jorginho and bought the attacking version of Jorginho (João Felix) and our productivity dropped off a cliff
Itsrm: This was my initial reaction till I watched the replay. The ball was quite far off from him. I doubt he would have gotten to that ball before Fofana and Vini. It was Kovacic who failed to close down Carvajal on time and Fofana also slept off or was too slow.
Really difficult to pin it on Kepa.
The ball was far off from him cos he never made a move toward the ball
There is no way a ball travels straight in the air for 30 yards to the 6 yard box at that speed and it's not keepers ball
That is keepers ball every day and twice on a Sunday
The reason you didn't see Kepa near Vinicius is the same reason rudiger and co were shouting at Kepa here, nigga will not come to claim any aerial ball, it's not his business. It's a short man syndrome
raumdeuter: These are the games all this season that Jorginho played for Chelsea. You lost to Arsenal, Newcastle Soton and Leeds with Jorginho
Without Jorginho you have lost to Wolves, Soton Villa and Spurs
No need going back to September
Our issues started in late October with the Brighton game. It's the same Chelsea we are seeing since then and Jogginghoe was there for it as below.
Our goals conceded has improved since Jogginghoe left - now less than one goal a game, but we are playing games 0-0 or 0-1 so no points on the table. Our focus has shifted from being overrun 4-1 by teams like Brighton when Jogginghoe was there to how we score just one goal to prevent a 0-0 or 0-1
Greatihex: It must be short arms, because the guy is same height with Thiago Silva
Thiago Silva would be short for a keeper
Kepa is short, and he has short arms
But make I free am. Our big problem was those two guys upfront that couldn't make a thing stick. Like Popizaino said, big and fast striker is underrated in football. When there is no hope in your strikers to relieve pressure, there is no confidence in what the team are doing
A001: He actually saw the second goal and went for it. But him arm too short. That denied him the save.
He saw that goal clearly. Ball passing through Fofana legs had no impact on his dive, he had already started diving, he is just too short with short arms
raumdeuter: Bros that ball wey enter Fofana toros at clos range na him you wan blame Kepa for
Leave agenda
First goal, a keeper that commands his area will collect that ball from Vinicius head. That ball travelled 30 yards at slow pace to the edge of 6 yard box. Long ball that lands in 6 yard box is always the keepers ball
2nd goal he got a fingertip to it. If he was 3 inches taller, that ball would be on his palm, not his fingertips
I no want talk because we had other bigger problems today, but he offers us nothing. He is not good enough, simple
Was Jorginho not playing when we went from November to January with almost zero wins
Our biggest problem are keeper, striker and the fact we allowed Felix take the place of Badiashile in UCL squad. Felix offers nothing while Badiashiles replacements in Koulibaly and Cukuruku are walking brainfarts
raumdeuter: How much VAT fit dey on Oshimen age? When you don see Nigerian footballers especially those who went for age grade competition many of them dey always claim close to year end DOB, you know say Dagbo don enter
Cos per FIFA rule they will say only those born before December 31 2003 fit play Under 17, Osimehn conveniently out of 365 days was born on December 29. 2 days to year end
raumdeuter: That is why I was shocked, I was thinking they will even be egbon-Aburo things. And Mane to be teaching Sane about the culture he missed out on
But seems Mane is an explosive character, He had issues at Liverpool too where he openly raked for Klopp and Salah, I heard he sparked for Naggelsman to and now slapping Sane
Looks like this Mane deal dem don maga us.
Mane go dey look Nagelsmann like see this small boy. Nagelsmann no know say dem fit be agemate
In Germany, aside Munich which part of the country is good for a tourist English speaker
Any part of Europe is OK for an English speaker except France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. In all other countries, you will find a decent percentage of population to communicate with
DeadPresidents: Knew it was real when I chatted with this Italian lady pharmacist on the plane who japa‘d from Bologna, Italy to Hamburg. E be like say high paying work no too dey Italy for them and she japa enter Germany con find work.
Germany, Switzerland and France have decent economies. Na work trip be your waka or na flexing?
DeadPresidents: Raumdeuter, I spent the Easter break in Munich. Interesting things i noted:
- Support for Bayern is fanatical. You can catch all latest Bayern news updates just taking the public train home. There’s also a Bayern official club franchise at the Munich airport close to Terminal two. Saw some cheeky Dortmund fans had plastered the Dortmund crest on the escalator and thought to myself, “who invited blud ”
1860 München also have good support.
I didn’t stay long enough to visit Allianz though. Maybe next year
Munich is also classy and expensive AF. Na Olowo dey live there.
I dey your side now sef, spending few days in the Black Forest. Went to Freiburg city today. From here, heading to Basel in Switzerland. This area too clean. E be like work plenty here with the confluence of Germany Switzerland and France, so many multinational distribution centres here.
This is what I always say about Kepa with long range shots but some fans will bring isolated incidents of other keepers conceding similar goals to defend him
Courtois said the same thing about Pickford in 2018 World Cup. Who too short too short.
WhoDeyHause: Lol, you quickly brought RPG to a catapult and stone fight. No be so . Another reason why I'm not very keen on him is he should have left his club since if he was that good rather than being offloaded on a free. Good strikers are very hard to get for free unlike defenders and midfielders.
He only converted to striker this season so he is still new to the position
He was an above average winger but not elite level. With his strength and height and dribbling skills, coach has found a better position that fits his physical profile but by then his contract is already expiring. Reminds me of Arnautovic that Stoke were wasting on the wing. By the time they realized he's a striker, it was too late, and West Ham were the ones to enjoy him as striker.
