IDENNAA: Talking about N. Nwakali
Rohr: "I saw him in Egypt for the U-23 qualifiersfor Olympics. He’s a good player but his club career is not easy. He deserves to play more and I hope he will get more game time".
As soon as this boy could play couple of marches he will be handed a starting position in the Eagles, immediately The bolded is what some people here don't want to see. Like I said a number of weeks ago, Kelechi Nwakali has always been part of the national team set up. All he just needs is to start playing more games for his club and he will get an invite, though not a starting shirt. Samson Tijani is another one for the future. But let's see him at the U20s first and then we'll know if he is progressing well or not. |

Kai! I've really missed International football.
There are some days that I would just sit and be remembering some of those our Recent WCQ games: notably, Nigeria vs Algeria, Nigeria vs Cameroon and Nigeria vs Zambia. And then the heated up arguments before games and also the days that follow the games.
The various actors involved:
1. Rohr's critiques: This group criticized Rohr all day long. "Rohr is not a good coach". "He is too conservative". ".He employes negative tactics"....Bla-bla-bla.
2. The Attorneys: Defenders of their favorite players. To them certain players can do no wrong even if they score an own goal against Nigeria. They would rather shift the blame to another player they don't like.
3. The "haters": For this group, there are certain players that no matter how they performed their "Haters" (even though they will always deny being haters) will always rate them low.
4. The Chameleons: These ones will not come out and support the team openly. They are just pretenders so that if the team wins they celebrate if they team loses they come here and Rubbish the team and call for Rohr's sack. They can hail Rohr to high heavens today and call for his sack tomorrow.
5. The "I said it" crew: These ones are always negative going into a game. They would rather chose to dwell on the team's weaknesses rather than on their strength. And then they predict all forms of doom. If the team wins some of them varnish for days or weeks.
6. The conspiracy theorists: There is a group that whenever a team list is released they come here to shout about Nepotism, Sentiments, emotive biase etc. They have never given kudos to Rohr after each release of team list because their favorite players never make the squad.
7. The Patriots: They are always direct rivals to the "I said it" crew because they always chose to see the strength of the team rather than the weaknesses. They are the ones that will take over the thread after every win, while the "I said it" crew go into hiding. They also stay on the thread to defend the team's poor performance if they should lose.
8. Pro and Anti-Iheanacho: I had to bring this group out separate because for many years, a very large percentage of our arguments here were Iheanacho related. There are certain people that they are experts in defending Iheanacho all day long, even if he did nothing in a game. And the Anti-Iheanachos would even go as far as celebrating, if he developed an injury. This thread usually goes on fire each time "Nacho" scored both at club and SE.
9. The "awa brad-es": They come here to mock Nigeria each time we crash out of a tournament. They know nothing but insults, and would digress from football completely to start insulting even our president.
At each point in time, every member here belongs to a particular group. There was always a burning issue that if you leave the thread and come back after 2hrs you can meat up to 3-4pages of comments.
For me there is nothing compared to National team football. I can't wait for it to return. |

TheSuperNerd: I just tire. He is quite injury prone. When Balogun stays fit, he is one of our best in Europe, but his injury history is a worry for me going forward in the Super Eagles.
His kind of injury takes between a month and six weeks to heal so I naturally assume he will be out for that long unless he makes a bionic recovery. Balogun is nearing his pension. |

IDENNAA: Any other European nonsense I will report the person and have the post deleted and poster banned.
Take your European football madness to your clubs thread.
Again , this thread is strictly for Nigeria football including the NPFL. I love our local league but we rarely discuss it but every ffuckung day we read Messi , Guadiola or Ronaldo ad though they are Nigerians our have Nigeria players/ team mates. It's shows the depth of our inability to follow instructions and set rules. Easy bro.... Calm down.....just calm down. I understand how you feel. You are right. This is a Super Eagles thread. And for the so many years of activities on this thread over 90% of our discussions have been on Super Eagles players' performances both in the Super Eagles and at their respective Clubs. I don't know for how long you have been following this thread but if you were ever here each time Rohr releases his team list, the Super Eagles related arguments here is always like this thread will catch fire. However, due to non-national team activities you'll expect national team discussions to tone down. To the best of my observations faithfuls here have managed to keep discussions going, especially relating to Nigerian players' performances in their respective clubs. Let me also hint you that the NPFL is well represented here. Some of us here are die-hard fans of some Nigerian clubs. I am a die hard Enyimba fan. Infact I am more of an Enyimba fan than an Arsenal fan. You need to come and see the hot arguments here during NPFL and CAF Competitions. Those competitions are not on now, so we will hardly expect discussions on them. Please don't condemn this thread based on the discussions of the last 24hrs because I can tell you it is just a one-off thing. Yes, the club banter has taken unnecessarily so long but just relax, the dust will settle. We can only just pray that the pandemic goes away soon enough so that national team activities can resume. Then come back to this thread (The number 1 thread on Nairaland) |

TheGoodJoe: Guardiola should kill the fear and go all out. The respect is too much and suffocating the team. While also being careful not to commit too much to avoid a second goal. At 1:0 they are still in the game while also trying to maximize their opportunities created. But if they commit too much and go 2:0 down it is game over. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 9:01pm On Aug 15, 2020 |
TheGoodJoe: I think Guardiola gave Lyon too much respect in his setup. We need more creativity and risk to break their setup. You cannot start off a game of this nature coming all out at your opponent. This is not Norwich or Bournemouth they are playing. This is a one leg game and it is vital you don't concede early. Not playing down the role of attacking and creativity in a game of this nature but it is a game you really need to get your around tactics right from defense to midfield and attack. Now that they are a goal down, they have to try to push further, taking a little more risk while also ensuring they don't let in another. Even at 1:0 I still feel the chance of either team winning is 50:50. |

BascoVanVeli: They honestly deserved more. I know someone in his position shouldn't be talking like that but I can't get past the first offense. A paper of such magnitude shouldn't be taking wild stabs in the dark. What is wrong with actually reporting that is true? No doubt the Paper erred by publishing a false information, but "Thunder fire una" is not a right language to be used by a public figure. That is my point. |

komekn: Where is Etebo.
If somebody asked that Sammy Ameobi should be considered, l am sure there will be outcry but there are players playing in the very dark backwaters of football Latvia, Albania that people will talk about without any opposition and or ridicule.
In reality statistics are indicative and not conclusive.
Nonetheless, we converge our knowledge of a player with what we have seen on the field of play to make a more holistic and objective appraisal of ability.
What the statistics do show, however is CONSISTENCY. Oga are you trying to say you are not aware that Etebo Left the Championship for Getafe in January this year? Or what point are you trying to prove by that Question? |

TheSuperNerd: Biko, Idennaa (AKA OdenigboAroli).... My good man, First things first abeg. K.Nwakali just returned to football. Allow the lad have his run in La Liga. Let's see the lad ACTUALLY impress in La Liga before talks of invite to the NT resume on the lad's head. We both know Nwakali is a real talent but he needs to work to earn his call BIG TIME. No dey mention am in same sentence as Alex Iwobi abeg. It's quite off to be honest.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Alex Iwobi is truly underrated on this thread by several. I just don't understand why it's difficult to see the importance of Iwobi to our team plays especially in the final third. It's true he needs wicked competition but we cannot continue to keep ignoring his class and hardwork of recent in the GWG. Dude even scored on his last outing for us. Na wa oooo!!! Not surprised at all. Same way Kanu Nwankwo and Mikel Obi were underrated during their days. A lot of young peeps here didn't realize much about Kanu's contributions until someone (u I think) posted his SE highlights here. These are kind of Talented players that don't come to the national team every year. Iwobi is a huge talent, even though he still needs to work on some of his weaknesses. Iwobi is even scoring goals for the national Team. Some thing he has done better than Mikel and Kanu |

Philosopher1979: That is the problem. It takes too much effort to get foreign born players to play for us. They may snub us anyway. We have to make use of what we have and then we can source for these foreign borns later. We cant keep begging them. Depending on them is uncertain. If they want to join us it is fine. As per midfield we have ishaq abdulrazaq alhassan yusuf and other teenagers who will develop You understand.... This what Komekn has refused to accept. This is the reality. |

komekn:
He is a player that has always been part of the Nigerian youth teams set up and so had always been under the radar. Such players more easily get called up once they hit gear.
What would you call that statement, it is self explanatory, FAVORITISM and BIAS on the basis of youth team football. I don't know what hit gear means.
But he has done absolutely nothing for 5 years.
You mentioned favoritism and bias for Borough players by my person.
Tell me one player l have talked about in the context of HERE and NOW and or AT THAT TIME that did not have quality to compete in the SE with the current players who are their ❓
We had players from Cyprus league in the SE and other obscure leagues. That's context.
I think l am more harsh with Nigerian origin players than with Nigerian homegrown and or sourced talented players.
We find it easy to talk about players in Albanian leagues, Latvian, Nordic leagues, Isreal league. These league are below the standard of the Championship and some even lower than league one
But when a Nigerian origin player is talked about playing in the championship some people call it bias and favoritism. I talked about Ovie ages ago, l talked about Aribo ( now a SE regular) he was in league one then.
For possibly two seasons or more l have not mentioned Fred Onyedinma until last week. Why not because he lost quality but because l felt he had not done enough to be the best in league one. I could have made excuses such as he had knee surgery, etc
I haven't talked about Chuks Aneke because he hasn't done anything to merit a call up. I only have talked about Tega Onomah last two weeks. I have not talked about Ademola Lookman in a long time. I have been quite about Dominic Iorfa for a few months.
I have talked talked about Adarabioyo as the best HERE and NOW, current CB of Nigerian origin. ln my opinion he is much better than Awaziem any day of the week.
But you and many others continously talk about a player who has been so bad over the past 5 years he was demoted to Youth football in Porto B and still struggled. Now has had a few minutes not games and he is first in line for the SE.
This is a players that has not achieved 10% of what the players l have mentioned and or been quite about have achieved and indeed may never achieve.
And then some actually a lot, have the bare faced hypocritical double-standard cheek to call me biased and showing favoritism to Nigerian origin players in the UK. And he HATES Nigerian homegrown players. Bros, with all this grammar.... I am not the SE Technical advicer but I am telling things how it is. That is y I earlier said "it is the reality". Nigerian grown players are easier to secure for the national team, so players that have represented Nigeria previously at youth levels and have also continued to churn out good performances are more easily invited to the SE because you don't need all those switch of nationality stuff that take months. Besides, I don't even want to go through all those talks of Foreign born players who have snubbed Nigeria in the past. |
