i didn't get u sir. Is there anything like best looser in this grade?
Yes there is. 6 grps with 4 teams each. 2 automatic qualifiers and 4 3rd placed teams go through.

But wait, I dnt expect such a question from some1 of ur calibre.

Is this the first U17 u are following?

TheGoodJoe:
I think we judge team by the number of top flight superstars they produced. So far I think the best team was the 1993 U17 side. With Kanu Nwankwo who was rated among the top 10 players in the World, Oruma who was part of a strong Marceille squad, Celestine Babayaro who was a key man for Chelsea, Pascal Karibe Ojigwe who played for Bayer Leverkusen when they boasted of the likes of Ze Roberto, Lucio, Ballack, Kristen, Basturk, Neuville etc.

I think that set was the best. Their 4-0 demolition of Argentina in that tournament in 1993 is unforgettable.
1993 was unarguably the best crop.
I also particularly like the 1989 boys. Though dey lost to eventual winners-Saudi Arabia in d QF.Up till d 1993 set emerged most peeps believed they were our best crop. That set produced players like: Victor Ikpeba, Benedict Akuegbu and Godwin Okpara all of whom featured prominently for d Super Eagles in the 1990s up to 2000. Some of d boys like Kayode Keshinro, Bobo Idom, John Zaki, Jide Oguntunwase did so well at dat U17 bt nothing was heard of them later except John Zaki dat featured prominently for ASEC Abidjan in d early 90s bt could nt break into d stars studded Super Eagles team.

Anyways, it is a common trend all over the world. Even the bests of U17 teams dnt produce more than 3-5 players dat will break into d senior team.

ITV hooked up to Startimes so no need of buying or paying for startimes after being on DSTV premium bouquet.

Chukwueze seems to b d Iheanacho of this team. What an Iheanacho-like finish.

3-0.

A much better game than dat against d USA. Nigeria are better than d Chileans hu play more like an Asian team rather than d skillful intelligent play we expected from a South American team.

God bless ITV Benin. Buying Startimes na waste of money. grin

2nd half done set.

if we were using 'beautiful football' to judge teams, Arsenal would be the best team in the EPL.

Hence, the best team so far is the team with the win, followed by Guinea, at least they grabbed a point with an actual goal. No be say you go play 'beautiful football' without goal. The most beautiful thing about football is the goals, all others follow.......well, for me.
Yeah u are right. The final score is d most important infact it is d actual outcome pf d match. But at age grade level scouts look at games wholistically. They look at the individual brilliance, abilities and contributions from each player. Remembet football at this age is nt all abt winning trophies.
In 2003 the likes of Mikel Obi, Chinedu Ogbuike, Solomon Okoronkwo, Ezekiel Bala, Emmanuel Sarki, Isaac Promise etc featured in that Eaglets team dat crashed out at d grp stage bt shortly after d tourney European clubs came after them. U remember how Jose Mourinho and Alex Ferguson were fighting over d signature of an 18yrs old Mikel. That was before he even featured in Holland 2005.

My dear result is important for the Nation at dat short moment in time bt impressive displays is important for d boys' careers and d Nation at d long run.

However also, the best out is for the boys to play beautiful football and win the trophy wink

SA lose 2-1 to Costa Rica. Na only Nigeria come dey try for Africa again, 1-3rd na just wash

Meanwhile Russia winning the shiiit Korea 1-0 so far

@the supernerd, done
Were u expecting any thing from SA before? This is how far there good organisation has taken them. They dnt have what it takes to get results at this stage. We know where d power house of African youth football resides.
Sports › Re: Breaking News: Emenike Quits National Team!!! by Icon4s(m): 10:07pm On Oct 19, 2015
Good. I think he has done d best thing. We all know his national team future is bleak already. He doesn't want to b dumped like his predecesors.

Time for younger players to shine although some are calling for the return of Martins.

Thanks for your period of national service Emenike. You tried ur best.

Sorry.... I gave the post enough time to be modified but it seems no one picked it up.......*smiles*
He is right, Benin Republic. It shows he has been following the team.

There was an invitational tourney hosted in Benin Republic last yr and d Eaglets finished 3rd out of d 8 nations invited.

if that what you think
i can spot a good team after watching them for just 20min
i though the coach will scout for good players after the african championship but what did i see
Well, I dnt know how well u follow youth football but I hope u are nt comparing how dey played with d way the likes of Arsenal, Manu, Mancity etc play.

We know they may nt b as smashing as d last set but how can u say even though they won 2-0 in their first game they will still crash out at the grp stage. U think Chile and Croatia are being represented by their senior national team?

A person like u would have also written off d last eaglets within d 1st 20mins of that grp game against Sweden after they went 2 goals down.

I can confidently tell u dat this Eaglets team is good enough to challenge for the title. Those dat know me in this sports section know dat I am mostly conservative when it comes to my expectations from our national teams bt there are certain age grade levels that we mostly get it right and this is one of them.
We have played in 7finals out of our 10 participations. No other country has dat 70% record.

NB: I never saw the 2015 Super Flying Eagles that won d CAF U20 as favourites bt I can tell u dat this our Golden Eaglets dat finished 4th in CAF U17 are "among" the favourites.

the fact that they had 21 shots and couldn't get one in is testament that they may not be as good as they looked at U17....

Anyway, the last African nation, SA, plays today. if those peeps don't qualify top of that shiiit group they got, then they'll be the true failures
SA, I dnt believe those guys have what it takes. Forget dat dey were 2nd at CAF U17 we know from which side of Africa where d bunch of talents come from.
The only thing dey have is good organisation and there is a limit to where that can get u.Talent and individual abilities of the players takes a team to d next level.

West Africa (Nigeria and Ghana) have won this Cup a total of 6 times out of the 15 editions. Also countries like Guinea, Ivory Coast & Burkina Faso have played in the Semis at one time or the other.

If any team(s) are to perform well in this tourney it will most likely come from Nigeria, Mali or Guinea. Infact Nigeria are tournament favourites.

the scoreline determines a good team, not statistics.

Lack of finishing could kill a team. This is just Ivory Coast part 2. 2draws, one win, finish best 3rd and probably crash out next round
Hahaha. Funny bt I believe they will perform more than that. This Mali side is good jst dat it didnt jst happen for them last night. Imagine having 21 shots against Belgium's 2.

BTW I think the Weather in Niger contributed to their winnind d CAF U17.U know Mali and Niger are neighbours. The energy sapping, hot and dry semi-desert weather favoured them.
