That's no true. Even if we lose to France and Norway beats South Korea, we can still qualify as the best 3rd place finishers unless we lose by a wide margin to France.
O pari
Afam4eva: You won't qualify with a draw except Korea defeats Norway.
Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene asked the Dutch number 2 for a drink of water. The dutch girl refused (apparently for health reasons). This annoys Onguene. A Dutch substitute then brings a cup of water for Onguene, but she knocks it away.
Huh? Argentina has bigger names than Portugal?? Haha!!! That shows how much you know about football.
Please compare this Argentine team play for play with the Portuguese team. Not only does Portugal parade a better team than Argentina; Portugal also have a real coach. What's the pedigree of the current Argentine coach Zero! No serious coach wants to deal with the Argentine FA. But yet some mugus still expect Messi to perform magic because he's Messi. It takes 11 players playing at their best to beat anybody at this level, bro. No player has ever done it by himself!
O pari
nairalee: I'm a great Messi fan but truth be told he oughta do better.
I used to say his teammates are not living up to expectation but I realize Argentine team has even bigger name players than Portuguese team.
Team USA probably not, but France is definitely beatable. The Falcons may surprise you today if the team can cut down on all those unnecessary elementary school errors they tend to make.
safarigirl: i haven't tried that route, however, people make money off it. There are certain groups people join for the FPL that have prize money and sometimes, people stake bets
This is our first team, except for perhaps the goalkeeper. So Super Eagles better get something out of this game. A draw against Senegal would not ve a bad result but we ought not to lose this game.
Apples and oranges. Kelechi has scored 7 goals for Nigerian Super Eagles. How many goals has your beloved Kayode scored
And by the way, if I am that triablistic, why did I keep calling for the likes of Uzohor and Ezenwa to be bounced from the national team?
O pari
jihday: where did you keep this your energy preworld cup when forgiveness was fighting for Kayode's inclusion, using the same logic most people used to tag forgiveness a tribalist I think I can safely call everybody fighting for Iheanacho's inclusion tribalist. the argument for his inclusion no even make sense, see players like Eleke, Awoniyi, Odey and that one-cap player that used to play in Israel but now in Turkey they all had fine seasons but nobody has even said a word about them but our fellow forumites wants their darling iheanacho with 1 epl goal to be involved, una wicked and don't want the best for Nigeria
True. But I still think that the overriding factor in Rohr's decision was due to the fact that KC isn't playing much at LC. But he forgot to ask himself, if the other strikers are in KC's position, would any one them have played more games than KC.
And in addition, I don't like the way Rohr puts KC on the blast by telling the whole world that KC has attitude problems. If a player isn't doing something right, especially such a young player, the coach should call him aside and have a conversation with him. Going public by talking to the media isn't the right approach.
O pari
breezy147: The coach has seen him in training. And that has constituted the coach's decision. That said, KC has played as a striker for almost all of his career and it is too late to experiment with KC in the midfield with the super eagles.
If Iwobi has to come off, Etebo/Ogu will replace him and Mikel may move upfront.
Nobody is asking for him to be given a special treatment. But I just don't believe that every striker and AM in that squad is better than KC.
Truth be the told, the likes of Onuachu, Osihmen, Ighalo, and co would also be sitting on the bench, if they are competing with Jamie Vardy. Or have we quickly forgotten Ahmed Musa's experience
O pari
Earthquake3: You didn't remember that Nacho started against South Africa and was abysmal including not being able to trap a goal bound chance
You want Rohr to take somebody's chance against Uganda and give to him(Osimhen and Chukwueze)
But the KC I see for Leicester City always works hard for the team. Missing scoring opportunities happens to everybody, even to the best players in the world. If I tell you the number of scoring chances I had in my life, you'd be surprised. Bottom line, KC should be thrown out because a scoring chance against Seychelles or against ManCity. If you look at the full picture, you'll agree with me that he still has something to offer to the team.
TheGoodJoe: Last thing Rohr needed was Iheanacho having a good display and giving him a selection headache. Rohr already made up his mind those he was taking and Nacho was not on his list. A brilliant performance from Nacho would have people questioning his decision to drop Nacho.
I can't even remember the last time KC was given a chance in green and white. Or are you banking on that 50 mins cameo at the World Cup? How many Super Eagles players played well in that tournament? A good coach would've given KC and even Semi (but especially KC) 90 mins, to show what they got, in the game vs Uganda. Then if KC fails to person, then he can cut him. That's what he did for Aina before the World Cup, so why not give KC the same chance to prove himself?
O pari
Earthquake3: Rohr counterbalances your performance at club level and GWG as all good coaches do
That's why Balogun and Musa(at a time) were playing for the SE despite not getting much game time at club level
Iheanacho has not performed at both levels so I don't see the need for his inclusion in the team
I totally 100% agree with you, bro. I am not one to second guess a coach on selection decision because I am of the opinion that a coach understands his team better than we the fans; however, I think that Rohr tends to put too much stock on how often the players are playing (or not playing) for their euro club sides. I don't totally agree with that because we've seen players who set the euro leagues on fire but turned out to be flops in green and white. Similarly, we've seen players who weren't having good seasons at their football clubs but still get it done when they put on the green and white.
O pari
Humility017: if ROHR will be settling for mikel ndidi and iwobi in the midfield. .dropping nacho was a poor tactical decision because going by the above nacho is one player amongst the strikers that can play as 10/8/9 he can always come in for iwobi Paul still a suspect to me Tijani kind of a player
Omo, you can mobilize the entire population of Lagos to vote for you, once Tinubu pulls in his bullion vans all those votes would disappear into thin air. That's where the godfather thing comes into play. In Nigeria, people can vote all they want but the million $$$ question is, would the votes be counted
O pari
Mynd44: Nigerians are somehow. The Godfather thing about El-Rufai is being blown out of order.
It is not like he just dived into it, he was asked and he said his mind and guess what? What he said was true.
In a state like Lagos with over 5 million voters, you cannot claim one godfather controls things if just 1 million people vote. Where are the rest? If you want to get over this godfather issue, why not find a way to mobilize the remaining people to vote? That is how to stop the perceived influence of the godfather. Anything other than that, you are deceiving yourself.
He has found a way to mobilize his supporter who are about 900k and they make sure they vote and protect their votes, other politicians or people who believe they want to break the godfatherism should mobilize other voters. That was the point El-Rufai made and it is true.
So you think that this is a well coached team? Listen, winning covers up a lot of things but if you can look beyond the win you'd realize that this team still can't do the basics. They leave a lot of spaces once they re not with the ball. Their off the ball movement is close to zero …. all eyes on d ball without watching the opponent free runners, no shape, can't pass, can't shoot, can't defend, and often don't know where their markers are.
Considering that we've been participating in the WWC for the past 20 years or so; one would expect to see some improvements. Was I expecting too much
O pari
Marjoribanks: The coach did his job. The Koreans are a passing side all we need do is to hit them on counter. Which we did. It could have been more cos we had the best chances. Not all teams play like Barca/Arsenal lol
chrisooblog: nobody has said the girls are world-beaters we are just saying considering the level we are at right now whether you are pleased with the way they played or not get it this is a competition all that matters is a result if you can do it sexy all well and good if not no problem as long as you win
They are being too strict with the whole VAR thing. In such a close call, I will call it for the attacking team. Goal scoring is difficult enough as is, no need to add all these unnecessary burdens.
O pari
tbaba1234: The korean was offside... Her hand crossed the line.
Bros, here's the bottom line, we're all after the same goal here. So let's hope they'd keep winning … even if they win ugly.
All in all, I really wasn't impressed. It's still the same Nigerian team winning by sheer natural talent and brute force. And I was expecting to see a better organized team considering their good preparations and the addition of a foreign coach. Is that too much to ask for
O pari
chrisooblog: guy are you for real the South Koreans goal was clearly offside while our first goal was debatable I guess they decided to give us the benefit of the doubt.
You don't have to like the way we play today but respect these women it is not beans to beat a country ranked 20 places higher than you are
To be fair, I don't disagree with anything you just said but I just don't know how and why I found the bolded quite funny.
I actually laughed out LOUD, believe it or not.
O pari
PDPGuy: I also watched the Fox Sports angle, and the replays were, at best, inconclusive on whether Oparanozie handled the ball. The motion of her fist towards the ball could deceive someone to come to a definite conclusion that it hit her hand. But watching closely, the pace and direction of the ball did not change after the Korean player volleyed it towards her goal.
On the disallowed Korean goal, VAR clearly showed that the right shoulder of the Korean player was ahead of the 2nd to last Nigerian player. So, she was clearly (even if by millimeters) offside there.
Our first goal - I looked at it from different angles and it looks like the ball struck Oparanozie's hand. I don't know the angle the VAR folks used but all the angles shown on the TV here (Fox Soccer Channel) looks like the ball touched her hand.
The Korean equalizer - the Korean player was onside. They even put a line through the field and it shows that she was on. Lucky for us, the ref decided not to check the VAR on that one.
O pari
mostob: why should our first goal be called back? Why do u think the korean's equaliser should have stand? Goals win u match not passes. Althouph, today's win should not take away the fact that this team is not performing to expectations.
So why hasn't our standard gone up since we started watching all the EPLs and the Serie As, and the La Ligas Instead our standard has gone the other way!
O pari
Mizwisdom: Hope you know what happened at Agege? is that what you want us to watch?
KPOM @the highlighted. That's exactly what I am trying to get everyone to realize. This is not a well coached team. And after over 1 year of coaching the team, it still looks like the coach still doesn't know what his best team is yet.
I grade Dannerby zero so far.
O pari
Bolowolowo: Thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully Australia loses to Brazil and Japan lose to England. But then again, anything can happen. Hopefully Dennerby makes the necessary adjustments for the French encounter but I'm not holding my breath. Even in today's encounter, the girl's did not look sharp.
LOL @the highlighted. Bros, you're a real comedian …. I don laff taya sef
Anyway, to answer your question, I am still pissed off at the team for the shambolic performance they put on against Norway. I mean, with all the preparation they had before this tournament along with the so called super coach I expected much more from them.
O pari
isan: why are u sounding like u don't want the team to win ? did u placed a bet on Korea ? the better team won simple ...whatever the team has equalled your darling super eagle performance at last year world cup you at least respect them for that
