How did you scale through with Zenith Bank? They did not request for "telex copy" of the source of your wire transfer? I've been using them since 2007 and suddenly the new branch I transferred all my accounts to started asking for too much info from me. I was mad at the relationship officer because I have used the accounts for over a decade now and I told them to look at the history of my accounts.

I've to leave them for another bank because it's my money and they don't need it.

Yes, domain can still be active after it enters expiring phase. Read up on "domain life cycle" you'll understand the phases domain passes through before it stops working. But on another thought, the domain will be in possession of an administrator/designer. So, if there is contractual disagreement, he has the knife and the yam, he can cut to the size he desires.

For example, when domain renewal notice comes it goes to the web designer email box because that is what was entered.

This is what may have happened. A smart domainer and watchdog may have backordered the domain name. In this case, it won't drop. The problem with domain renewal usually arise when a company hires website designer or agency to build website and handle the domain registration and hosting.

It is too risky for any company to tow that line but most of them don't know how the domain life cycle works. They are not aware that they can register a domain name by themselves so that they have registrant and administrative rights to the domain. In the event, there is contractual agreement breakdown between the web designer and management, every body sales "to hell with you."

Sooner things will begin to unfold. The designer will not willingly release these information because that will affect his retainership income. It is a long story. I've hired and fired website designers, so I know where the shoe pinches.

Often times, the problem with us is that we don’t study digital marketing as it affects us before jumping in with both feet. This is akin to taking a leap in the dark not knowing where you will land on eventually! My advice is that before you go to Facebook to pay for advertising or create a fan page, you’ve to build a simple website or start a blog on a similar topic to serve as your landing page.

It will be better for your online business if you’ve a lead magnet page in place to build an email list of subscribers from. Don’t forget that digital marketing is about reaching out to your audience at places where they congregate and making friends with them. Sincerely, if the registrant for that domain name is smart, he could turn it to a political news website with focus on Nigeria news and "Hadi Sirika" as a person. Sooner or later, it will catch the man's attention. He either gets the domain and website or his rival will get it at a premium price. You can monetize it with Google Adsense or selling ads spaces like Seun is doing on Nairaland.com.

Because you've successfully build a website on it and the name is not trademarked, the world is your oyster. No legal action against him will ever succeed. But as it is now, in domain name only, the politician can sue the domainer for cybersquatting

Why do people recommend them as 1st alternative tO Dan, rather than epik and co?
I mean:

2. Someone here said he had to follow through 3 processes b4 price was revealed. Not all end users.can endure that.

I understand what others are saying and I understand yours too. But in their own interest don't report incomplete info regarding your domain sales since it won't add value to their experiences. I think that is the plank of their rantings.

I personally don't report sales since my awful experience in my early days of domaining in 2007. That is a story for another day. I love my country but some undesirable elements can spoil your day by revealing some info to them. They will not use the info to their advantage but rather become a cog in the wheel of your progress.

Having saved up some amount of money, I am considering quitting my job and getting acquainted with an IT skill.

There is this friend of mine, who is a Web designer, developer, programmer and even a graphic designer; the guy is quite good (he started learning all these from a very young age).

When I contacted him and asked him to teach me Web development, he said OK, but his fee is 120k for three months. I opened my mouth in shock.

Well, long story short, I negotiated, and he finally cut down the price to 80k saying it's because we are friends. He said he would be teaching me Css, Html, Java script and NodeJs. I don't know Jack about all of that, I have only built sites with WordPress, but I feel the price is still too high.

Are there cheaper options for me or should I just go with him?

My challenge with training with friends is that it is personal. You won't be able to ask questions in details. Curriculum may not be covered. It will look as if he is doing you a favour. Going to a standard school like NIIT or Aptech would have been better if not that you are working. Meeting and interacting with new guys or gals will ignite the direction of your new career skill.

Please I need honest advices on my career path. I made a third class in economics and applied for pgd management but got admitted to study marketing after I got the Pgd marketing I moved on to study Msc management which I made 4.0 cgpa.

Now I am about to apply for PhD management. The issue here is that I am confused if I will get a lecturer Job since I made third class and I didn't study a particular course from my bsc to PhD level.

Sorry no one responded. May be their domains have not sold. To your question, it depends. A dropped domain that is good should have been picked up before pending delete in the auctions. However, oversight can cause good domain to be overlooked.

When you see such domains, be wary for few things:

-Check for trademark issues
-Check if the domain was used for notorious activities in the past
-Check if the CPC is at least $0.50 and search volume is above 500 monthly average
-Use the wayback machine at archive.org to see cached pages in the past
-If you're for domain flipping or investing, check if there are potential buyers so that you don't fill your portfolio with junk domains
-Follow this thread and learn from the good, the bad and the ugly domain tips being dished out by veterans and newbies alike.

It's a simple thing. If you make use of Afternic name servers, it will show you that page when you type the domain url into your browser. But if you list your domain for sale on their marketplace, it will still show you that page as you're seeing it but you have to type the full URL as you refered above.

Consistency

When doing online business, you’ve to prepare and plan it out from the beginning. You’ve to be consistent in what you’re doing even if it takes you a year to succeed. Areas where consistency is critical to success are content publishing on your blog, content marketing and networking in your niche market. There is no way to go around it if you want to earn money online.

Value Delivery

You’ve to always deliver value to your target market in order to continually earn their trust. You can do this by giving away free ebooks or video, demonstrating your expertise through your published content, offering bonuses and incentives, having an excellent customer support desk, prompt reply to questions and emails, offering cheap prices of your products and services where necessary, etc.

This is why you see Black Friday deals all over the place to attract more and new clients and customers.

Trust

You cannot buy trust but you’ve to earn it. If you smack of doubt, scam, con artistry or fraud, people will never do business with you. In a domaining thread where I’m a member from this forum, a guy posted a reply promoting his affiliate marketing ebook and website.

I was surprised that some vigilant guys replied immediately telling him that he is a fraudster because he is using different monikers to post on the thread. This is to tell you that some people have done background check on him before replying him like that.

If you cannot build trust around you and your business, you’ll continue to struggle to make money online. You’ve to be good at what you’re doing and let your target audience trust you for it.

You can earn trust from your market through income proof (not photoshopped), “show and tell” your potential subscribers and customers what is working for you or others who are associated with you, offer money back guarantee to remove fear and risk from the buyer, and post testimonials from previous users or readers who are satisfied with your product or service.

If you can put these pieces together, in no time you will make money online. Stay focused until you make your first $1,000 online and every other thing will become history.

Opening a domiciliary account with Zenith Bank is the worst mistake anybody can ever make as a legitimate online business owner. When you receive fund into your account, they start asking you for receipt or telex copy of the sender. Why on earth will they ask for this when the sender name is already with them. And they give you deadline to provide the info or Zenith Bank send the money back to the source.

My fund from affiliate marketing from one company was returned and the affiliate network has deducted transfer charges from my account with them. It was a bitter experience with Zenith Bank and my accounting/relationship officer was too hostile as if she has been abandoned by her husband.

Quick one here. If you want to make money online, consistency is key. A lot of us do it by fits and starts hoping for one big hit or luck. It may or never happen. If you are blogging, do it consistently. If you're domaining, do it consistently and so is online marketing, networking and so on.

The secret that any internet marketing guru will never tell you is that making money is about self-discovery. While you are doing online business consistently, you will learn and discover things yourself that work which no one will tell you or write an ebook about.

You're my best friend this year for asking this question. I follow your thoughts too on Iykepromotions thread. A lot of people out there complain too much of not selling because their focus is on "domain flipping" and NOT on "domain name investing." Two different online business models but with the same foundation.

For personal reasons, it is not in my character to flaunt income proofs and reports. Do you know you can transform a mediocre domain name to thousands of dollars within 6 months by creating content on it and have ready buyers knocking at your door to buy it? And the best part, it will not even cost you a fortune to do so.

Let me ask you this question? If someone walk up to you and ask you to exchange your N100 note for his N1,000 note will you be eager to do it? I guess you will! That is how developing a domain name to a level where you don't worry about domain name renewal fees. It also changes your perception on the type of domain names you should focus on.

I only register a domain I will develop sooner or later. If I find a good geo domain I cannot pass, I do so only for one year. After aggressive but ethical outbound marketing, I know that is a dude for me if it doesn't sell. For $10 investment, that should not be a pain to me at all.

My thoughts is to develop a domain and sell it. This way you're selling a business with viable assets (domain, content, traffic, etc) and not a bare land anymore. I was actually folllowing this model but I became more passionate about it when I read an ebook on how a blog was sold for $50,000 by a guy just by doing certain things right.

Creativity, determination and "can do it" spirit is what is making money online for successful bloggers, webmasters, and internet business owners. My advise for you is to get a domain name, develop it, promote it, earn money online with it consistently even if it is only $100 per month, and go ahead to sell that website for $1,200 and above. You would have received and enjoyed the monthly income and then the final selling price. It doesn't stop you from the bangwagon domain flipping frenzy. It only keeps you busy and focused because time is money.
