Yes, I totally agree with you on this. A lot of domain flippers on this thread are leaving money on the table. Domain flipping is for peanuts. Domain name investing is where the money is. I will answer your domain name question here. You can be creative about domain name based on your choice. For example, Google.com is not an English word but a creative. These types of domains are called brandable domain names. You need huge advertising funds to make these types of domain to be popular.

The other common type of domain is keyword domain. You can use keyword tool to find a keyword in your market and check if the domain name is available to register. More often than not, it will not be available because other online business owners have gone ahead of you. For example, I cannot register Business.com because it is out of my reach to buy. What did I do next. I checked possible domain names I can register with "business" as a keyword in it. So, I settled for BusinessDoer.com. This is a domain name I own which I intend to use for a mega blog sometime in the future.

The way to go, if you cannot register an exact match domain (EMD), then pick a keyword and add a descriptive word to it. For instance, I buy and sell domain names. Some years back now, I wanted to register PassiveIncome.com but it was not available. I went ahead to register  PassiveIncomeHub.com. I only added the word "hub" to it and somewhere down the road, I sold it for about $260 or so for a domain I only invested less than $10 to register.

The advantage of having keyword in your domain name is to make the promotion of your website or blog easier when you optimize your site. That is all for now.

Sincerely, I'm not a fan of peer domain appraisal. It either dampens or overrates your expectations. Instead, take it to the marketplace that is where the real buyers are. You see one of our guys here who placed $150 or so on a domain at one marketplace and even begging someone to pay $75 but ended up selling for $999.

That is the dynamics of buying and selling domain names. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!

Long story about this Sale.
I registered it September after someone inspired me by his "Insurance Agency" Sales.
I just registered it reluctantly even after all the appraisal tools I used gave it terrible appraisals..Estibot even appraised it $0.

I sent Multiple outbounds (up to 90 end users)..Not a single reply.
Then I followed up and got 2 offers($45 & $10)
I accepted the $45 though but the buyer refused to pay even after reminders.

Fast forward to first week of December, I followed up the end user that offered me $10 initially with $125..then He countered to $75 which I reluctantly accepted because I was really broke but then, He refused to pay after multiple reminders also.

1 week later,I changed the price to $150 on Epik and sent fresh outbounds to all 90 end users again..still no reply.

Then later that night when I was about to sleep,I decided to check my mail then I saw a congratulatory message from Afternic that the name has sold for $999.
I was shocked because I've forgotten I actually listed it on Afternic also.

The funny thing is that the landing page from the outbounds I sent was to Epik which was $150..I don't know why the buyer still went ahead to Afternic to get it for $999.
I think it was just God's Grace sha.

Congrats!!! There is something you didn't recognize though. Your domain name sale is not just God's grace but "God's greater grace". But God works in miraculous ways. The reason why I'm asking is not domaining related. Just wanna know which is the best way to receive money from someone abroad ( US/Europe/Asia) at the moment, and how the sender processes it.
I thought some of us here might have an experience with that.

The best method is wire transfer paid into your domiciliary account. You can then withdraw and sell at the black market. But always request for telex copy of the transfer to avoid your fund being returned back to the sender especially with Zenith Bank Plc who are notorious for doing that.

The way I do mine is that I agree to transfer first and after they have received it, they usually pay me in whatever medium that I suggest...

whether Xoom, Transferwise, Wire Transfer, Western Union... I have used all!

But if you liver no carry this method, stick to marketplaces. It is risky but I have never been scammed though.

If you don't want to be scammed, always do a background check on the person you are doing business with. More often than not, he or she will have what we call "online footprints." Scammers have lair you can use to find them out. For example, if I want to do business with 2sexycom because he wrote this post I'm referencing (LOL), I will simply go to Google.com and enter without the quotes "2sexycom sucks" or "2sexycom scam." I will find his online footprints of every scam he has done or failed at on the web.

You'll even discover various tactics, email addresses, nicknames, etc he uses at various times. This is very common with domain appraisal scams. Be warned before you leap!

Reading this post again this morning, I felt I needed to emphasise the bold part. In my own opinion and experience, that part goes beyond every other thing you might do.

Learn, research, and do and what not. If that grace is missing or not enough...hm.

My big friend, I wrote that post based on real life examples. I have been in every legitimate online business since 2007. Now on some ocassions between 2010 and 2012, I almost lost 3 to 4 sales on domain names I didn't intend to renew. Just out of the blue, end users came to me asking to buy these domains and the sales were successfully closed.

The domain investing can be trickish to undiscerning minds. This was why I devised an angle to domain name investing that produces thousands of dollars in profits every time I buy domain name to resell. My advice to everyone is NOT TO GIVE UP. Learn on the job and begin to evolve your own domain strategy. It is difficult to teach and learn everything in one course.

Just few years ago, I bought a course in domain investing and I discovered a simple way to quickly find and register keyword domain names. I was amazed what the whites know that we don't.
