This is truly encouraging. Justice delayed but not denied. It actually proves positive change is obtainable in naija if only people are willing to push . . . Relentlessly.

Culture › Re: Can You Marry A Lady Without Culture? by ifyalways(f): 5:07pm On Dec 22, 2011
Funny title. Culture plays little or no role nowadays in the way people dress. It all boils down to moral, up bringing and individual tastes. Btw, I thought todays men find her type "sexy"? Rofl

^ cool but we also need to consider the constraints and limitations an account would pose. What happens when we need to take out money and 1 or more of the signatories are not in town(I for one na unrepentant wakabout, lol)? Accountability IMO is easier when its handled by one person too. Moreover, its gonna take us a whole lot of time getting 1 or 2 more people needed to open an account. Like Haydek said, getting an account etal should not be our priority now, those things would be addressed as we progress and as the need arise. I don't know if we should create a new thread that would be sticked @ the homepage, a thread that would be an open invitation to all members to present cases of people they know that are in dire need or want and from there we do our investigations, deliberate on a case or cases to work on and take it up from there.

Culture › Re: Culture And Igbo Business Practices! by ifyalways(f): 11:15am On Dec 21, 2011
Hmmn. It would be cool to be armed with a real time statistics of the economic power of the so called "out of igboland" businesses and our vibrant onitsha, nnewi and aba mkts which we've always (mischievously or innocently) ignored. Great write up, though the writer forgot the mention government's role in the collapse of some of the aforementioned business empires.

I'm a firm believer of less is better hence I think that for now Jarus remains the Nigerian fund custodian, we don't need neither an account, CAC registration nor website NOW. All those formalities would only waste time, draw us away from the main motive which is to help and gulp money, and we don't have much now. IMO, let's start work with the committee we have now and as we progress and the need arises, we incorporate other things into the organization.our major and most important task now should be: who or which family would we, by Gods grace, make this xmss the best they've ever had, which widow do we help, which orphan or street kid do we pick off the street etc? Let's get started already people!!!

Its been close to 2 weeks that I neither visited nor checked on the Obuhs personally though I've had people checking on them.

I'm driving down to their shop as I type and ofcourse not empty handed. We decided to boost their sales this season by getting them whats in vogue now for sales. . .so we got them xmass hats, kiddies wristwatch, games, kiddies BB,eyeglasses, knock outs, water gun etc.15K was made avaialable yesterday by Jarus for that.

Would take pictures as soon as i get there. . .possibly with me and Monday on maska and clutching our water guns.lol

Great thread!
5 years ago,I was down,so down that yep I did think sucide .I lost my then guy a week to our marriage.I was just 18. . .It was a bad omen they said,i was an abiku.I foolishly thought life was not worth living anymore.stabbed myself a couple of times, took pills, tried drowning at the river(I can't swim even with a life jacket) etc, everyone one else gave up on me but my dear momma never did.she talked, cried with me,prayed for and with me,pushed me,challenged me. . . it took sometime but i DID finally got up,saw reasons to live and what can I say?God is good, life is good too.

It was even at that trying period that I joined NLD.I found a section where i had fun(Culture section) and I immersed myself there.Today,God not only restored me but also blessed me with a wonderful man and lovely kids.

To all those passing tru one problem or the other, hold on there even when it seems there's NO reason to do so,better days lies ahead.
