Culture › Re: Forget The Eze Ndigbo Title —Deji Of Akure by Igboid: 2:57pm On Feb 22, 2017
Now to the matter of Zik-Eyo Ita face-
off:On the eve of the 1951 elections in
which Azikiwe contested for a seat in the
Western House of Assembly from his
Lagos base, Zik declared that he was not
going to accept a ministerial post in “an
inferior legislature of the colonial type”.
In other words, he was not prepared to
serve as minister (premier or prime-
minister) at regional or national level in
the then premature Nigerian political
system. His object, he said, was to
achieve an NCNC majority in the regional
and central legislatures that would act to
“paralyse the machinery of government”
and lead to a reformation of the
Constitution.The Macpherson Constitution
had provided for “semi-responsible
government” at the centre and in the
regions.
The official phrase was “responsible
government within defined limits”. Zik did
not accept this. He wanted total
independence. This was what informed
his declaration above. It was a grand
tactics for national independence that the
Action Group later imbibed.
After the upheavals in the Western House
of Assembly,Zik began to rally his
partymen to the achievement of the
above-stated objectives. This took some
time. Eventually, however, the NCNC
resolved and called its central ministers
to resign in order to actualise the above
independence strategy.
But these ministers were now enjoying
their new stations in life, the perquisites
of ministerial office. Some of them did
not, therefore, want to give up the
positions. In so doing, they were
undoubtedly sabotaging and delaying the
independence struggle that had already
got them to where they were.
Three NCNC central (national) ministers
were the first culprits and were summarily
dismissed from the party. They were
A.C.Nwapa (Igbo), EniNjoku (Igbo) and
Okoi Arikpo(Ogoja).
ONLY DrEndeley (Cameroun) was
supportive of the tactics.Eyo Ita, the Head
of Government Business in Eastern
Nigeria and some of his ministers picked
against the policy and were flabbergasted
when the central ministers were
dismissed by the party. Of course, when
the party asked them to resign, they
equally rebelled against the party and
refused to comply. They became known
as ‘sit-tight ministers’.
Amongst them wereEyoIta (Ibibio),E.I.Oli
(Igbo), S.J.Una (Ogoja), R.I.Uzoma (Igbo),
S.W.Ubani-Ukoma (Igbo) and
S.J.Koripoma (Ijaw). Those who complied
with party directive and resigned were
Dr.M.I.Okpara (Igbo), M.C.Awgu (Igbo)
and S.T.Muna (Bamenda, Cameroun).

I can see the slimy Afonja who goes under the veneer of anonymous ethnic group and his fellow afonjas people are out again with their Igbophobic distortion of facts.

For the avoidance of doubt, Eyo ita was not ousted by Zik in the Eastern house,Eyo ita and his fellow sit tight Eastern minister's ousted themselves from NCNC over irresolvable ideological differences, and his ousting had no ethnic coloration whatsoever to it, as his fellow sit tight ministers who decamped from NCNC were mainly Igbos.

Too much ignorance in this thread, somebody who dosent knw dat all parts of Igboland have their own dialects acting like an authority on igbo language,I am from ANAMBRA based in OWERRI,there is a mountain of difference btw what i speak nd what they speak in IMO
Let me gve some examples
To laugh is ichi ochi in Owerri but in my side its 'Imu Amuu',an Imolite who av never interacted with my side of Ndi anambra can never understand that

We will say gini, some nnewi will say gunu, while owerri is NINI

We say kitaa for now,an owerri will say ugbulaka
We say iteghete for nine, they will say itolu

We say EBEA For here, they say NGA

These are few of the diff btw idemili and owerri,we also have diff in FOOD
If u dont knw asj and stop making mockery of urself
True.
Ezza say "Gunu", Orumba in Anambra say "Nnu", Like you already pointed out, Owerri( Oratta) say "Nini", Ikwere say "Kini", these things vary from place to place in the Igbo dialect continuum.

Ezaa people will say "Bia ikaa"
Orumba will say "Bia kan"
Nkanu will say "Bia Weehu/Nowa"

"Ikaa", "Weehu/Nowa" and "Kan", meaning HERE, yet "Ebea" was chosen as central Igbo, which all of them use when communicating with Igbos not from their own parts of Igboland.

Idemili speak that way not because we are affiliated to Anioma, cos we are not.

We speak that way because we are close to Enu-ani. The closer Igbo groups are, the similar their dialects sound. This is common sense.

Crap. Do graduate/non-graduate working adults and 40, 50, 60, 70yr olds sit for JAMB? No, they don't but guess what? They have phones. Quit being disingenuous. I know you're an igbo supremacist and all, but you need to learn to be objective at times. Everything shouldn't be reduced to and given an ethnic and tribal coloration. Your attempt to discredit the Telco data is dead-on-arrival.
Are you implying that SE has more youths than SW?
Basilo, my brother had done a good job on you in my absence.
JAMB figure is a better assessment seeing as one Person can only register once in a sitting and one's state of Origin is reflected irrespective of the state the person sat for the exam at.

Your telecom data is highly flawed because, one person can maintain 40 or more Sims, the state of Origin of individuals were not reflected.
Politics › Re: Most Populated States In Nigeria 2017(estimates) by Igboid: 9:42pm On Feb 19, 2017
RockHard:
Lol. Guy, you are better than this. How many students actually sit for jamb in a year relative to the number of those that don't get to? What percentage do them represent of the total student body in Nigeria? What demographic and age-group/bracket do they represent? Your logic simply won't fly. I might as well refer you to the raw WAEC data below as being representative of the population of the country. But even I know better than to do that.
It is believed that all Southern groups pursuit education up to tertiary level.
So yes, JAMB is a better bench mark than telecom data, for while telecom data do not take cognizant of state of Origin, JAMB data does. The Igbo population is one that is in constant motion, JAMB stats capture state of Origin and thus is a superior tool.
Your WAEC stats does not take cognizant of state of Origin, for if it does, it would be seen that quite a significant number of those that sat for the exam at SW, SS and even Northern states are Igbos.

Phone is not a basic need, and some even have more than one active lines.
I don't think it's a reliable population estimate.

I think since Yorubas claim to be Education loving as Ndiigbo and likewise SS tribes, the best way to get a population estimate is checking the population of subscribers of Of basic needs like Education.

In this case, JAMB enrollment stats for states is more weighty than phone subscription, and we know the SE had led the JAMB enrollment numbers in Nigeria for over 20 years now, this too is in conformation with the colonial population estimates that placed the population of Ndiigbo many levels ahead of those of Yorubas. cool

How exactly is it any of your concern as an Akwa Ibom man you "claimed" to be, if Ndiigbo cry or doesn't cry about marginalization in the Nigerian state?
Are you through addressing the issues going on in Akwa Ibom to start meddling in Igbo case, or how many times have you seen Igbos meddling into your Akwaibom issue?
Even Akpabio lamented Of the marginalization of the entire defunct Eastern region post civil war, when Awo and his Arewa partners hijacked the 3Rs meant for the East and took it to Lagos.

Whether Biafra is still in infancy or old age is none of your business, if you don't consider yourself a Biafran.
Biafran self determination groups had chosen their own route to go about accomplishing their set objectives, it's not in your place as a non-Biafran to support, criticize, condemn our methods, after all we know that irrespective of the method we choose, Nigerians like you will never feel comfortable with our self determination movement. It is very easy to pick a perspective and leave out other perspectives. Ika and Enuani do have many similarities due to interrelations and common linguistic influence from Benin, no doubts there.

On the other hand, I can point out many, many points of convergence between Oshimili and Anambra dialects like Idemmili. Even 'nke i' instead of nke gi which you pointed out is common throughout Idemmili area and beyond.

One obvious common trait is that Enuani and Anambra uses n to replace l in Ika. So Enuani and Anambra say Ani and not ali like in Ika, and enu and not elu as in Ika.

Anambra and Enuani also use l to replace r in Ika. So Enuani/Anambra say ala while Ika will say era.

Ika will use e where Anambra and Enuani will use a. Ekwa/Akwa, ekwukwo/akwukwo, ekpa/akpa etc.

I can actually go on and on. I do not believe Anioma is one language like you said because evidence does not suggest so.

Anambra people communicate much more easily with us than they can communicate with Ika folks.
Now, this is good.
If only you would sound this way more often. cool

Most Igbos woul say Nke ya for his own but we in Anioma say Nke e. Nke gi is Nkeiii in Anioma.

This is same in Idemili.

I have heard Ika before, it doesn't sound this way, including Ukwuani/Ndokwa. Only Enu-ani sound this way.
Only Enu-ani speaking Ika people like Igbodo sound that way too.

Zik was implicated in corruption and Ojukwu was involved somewhat in the Abacha for president charade. But I take your point that Igbos, of the major ethnic groups, have the least culpability for the state of Nigeria over a 57-year timescale in so far as having the least influence on governance.

The key problem with the North though is not greed, Southerners are arguably greedier, but incompetence. This is a theme I keep hammering on. The North has a narrower pool of capable policy makers/administrators-a byproduct of lower educational attainment. A corrupt but competent public official is far better than a less corrupt but inept official.

We can live in denial all we want but Zik and Awolowo were corrupt as the Foster-Sutton tribunal and the Coker commision respectively highlighted, but they were relatively competent.

Since when has investing outside one's region translate to greed? Are you mentally retarded or what?

Igboland is doing well in the private sector aspect. Our region is competitive but yet productive and no settler, stranger or visitor had been chased out of the region because of hostility.
The share volume of bank monetary transactions that take place in the region, paints a picture of a very vibrant private/public sector.
The region only lacks FG presence which was a deliberate Post civil war policy of the FG, which they had stuck with even unto this day.
But everything eventually die including this current state of things Ndiigbo are facing in Nigeria, it's a matter of when, not if.
