Excellent and informative post by the OP I remain convinced that God loves Nigeria by blessing us with so much heritage, culture and natural resources. Sadly when I see a few of the comments that follow (tribal, ignorant and abusive), I realise that it is always Man that causes problems for himself. The positives about this country far outweigh the negatives but we are a people who seem obsessed with tribal issues and sad to say, until we step above tribal sentiments, we will never progress as one country. The USA is made up of dozens of nationalities , but view themselves as American first. This "internet" generation is just as lethal and backward as the civil war generation. |
BRF - good effort. But please whoever that's in charge of this project should be exposed and well travelled, so they appreciate what tourism is all about. 99% of Nigerians believe tourism is going to stay in 5-star hotels and buying Louis Vuitton bags in Dubai. Even Nigerians that are supposedly "educated" have limited exposure to real tourism. By the way, I hope whoever brought that Sunborn Yacht from the UK and dumped it in Marina as part of a tourism initiative has been fired? |
The first lady is fine, she just went to rest...actually she had food poisoning but is fine now - okay it was a tummy tuck, no she has a serious ailment and Nigerians should pray for her, I mean...she is fine, she just went on vacation, I saw her when I went for the UN meeting. We must thank God, she died and rose up again after 7 days like Lazarus and her friends had sold all her properties. .....Now let me tell you the real truth about Alamieyeseigha, listen carefully...the truth about the pardon is...... |
Point 5 is very critical - turn your incurable passion and obsession into money. From sports to music, to trading or cooking/planning parties - any obsession can easily become a business. Great write up. |
" Men who lack conscience will even lie to themselves A friend once said, and I found to be true That everyday people, they lie to God too So what makes you think, that they won't lie to you?" - Lauryn Hill (Forgive Them Father lyrics) |
Yes and No. Let me advise our dear President that the greatest men were not always the most popular men. He must 6 months of National Emergency from April to September to tackle the following issues: 1. Complete NIPP projects and increase power supply by at least 25% (higher percentage will be better but tough to achieve within the timeframe) to "priority states" - i.e. highly populated and/or industrialised states with a clear roadmap to achieve 50% improvement by end 2014. 2. Show commitment to eradicating corruption by ensuring the legal system works and get all the corrupt "untouchables" are tried and sentenced (not pardoned) 3. Working with the Judiciary, formulate and nnounce a clear Government strategy for the "War on Boko" - e.g. capital punishment for promoters, "aiders and abetters" etc etc. If those three things are in place, he would have shown that he has broken loose from unproductive politics and is now focused on governance. He will get most votes....but will his advisers tell him this? |
And we wonder who the thugs in our universities today are emulating? |
Haba Dear FGN - give the public some information on the reason for the ban. This is not the military era. |
Completely disagree with the OP on this one o. Nobody asked the fellow to go on national TV and make a clown of himself. People should be accountable for their actions and face the consequences. It is too early to grant him a "State Pardon" abeg. |
1. APC should have registered before unveiling the name now? Haba!! Can i go to press about my "company" and unveil my products if i havent registered at CAC? Its just common sense. 2. Secondly APC shouldnt be distracted by the desperados clamouring for the name.Let them keep APC.... Its Schoolboy politics. The name means nothing -its the manifesto and strategy that matters. Of all the issues to worry about why should the name take up so much energy? |
Exactly! When i get on a plane bound for Abuja, am i thinking " i hope the oga at the top of NCAA is competent and has ensured that the plane and airspace is safe" or am i thinking " i hope the oga at the top of NCAA is a yoruba man"? who cares where the man is from when it concerns life and death please? This tribalism rubbish will destroy this country...eventually. ekwah: smh why should the appointee's tribe even matter in this case? |
Dear MODs - you have changed "R4pe" to "Molestation" in my post. This is not what i posted and the grammar is incorrect. I'm not sure why you would delete "R4pe" from the Nairaland index of words? Ijebulogic: You are very correct. However, i differ slightly and believe that it is actually less than 1% of Nigerians that would not cross-carpet like Abati; 99% (including Nairalanders posting comments here would do the same thing if slapped with a million dollars CASH). You see, poverty (of the pocket as well as of the mind) is a terrible thing and it reduces grown men to mere prostitutes that can be bought and sold like commodities. After working twenty years and not able to have a decent house or brand new cars, most nigerians simply give up the struggle and join the vagabonds in power (VIP) to lie, loot and rape Nigeria. The promise of abuja mansions, school fees for children abroad, police escort and enough dollars to keep madam and family forever singing your praise is too tempting in a land where there is no welfare system or decent opportunities to excel. Most Nigerians that have principles do not live in Nigeria and therefore do not need any favours from "political Godfathers" in order to have a decent home, send children to a decent school and live/eat well. For those left in Nigeria, majority have had every ounce of principles and fortrightedness squeezed out of them by poverty and economic hardship. Things Fall Apart. |
90% of Nigerians are like Abasi. Once we're chopping there, we're with them. Fani-Kayode, El-Rufai, Dino Melaye are all like Abati. That is why Nigerians always yearn for change but never want change
You are very correct. nagoma: Oshimole for President!!!1. Usually, when a school prefect performs very well, he should be promoted to Headboy and recognised as a role model. Unfortunately in Nigeria, people will be clamouring for the prefect to be promoted to Head Master! Even the military senior officers of old couldnt be found squabbling and fighting in public. Anyone who aspires to be President of this country must be able to manage his temper and achieve results strategically not via motorpark tactics.Aspiring to the office of the president must not become a joke to be trivialised. 2. The governor lost me on the he-goat sacrifice analogy. Are we in the village? Not inspiring at all sir. |
pro01: That would not happen anytime soon; not in the foreseeable future. We prefer making things difficult for each other in this country. It is probably because a lot of people profit from (man-made) difficulty.Exactly sir! Our non-progressive mentallity fuels the following: 1. Provide public access to CAC database = How will CAC clerks and lawyers survive? 2. Get C of O online in 1 week = Haba! How will Alausa public servants and rookie lawyers eat? 3. Fix Power situation = what will become of Diesel suppliers, Mikano, Perkins, CAT and other generator manufacturers? what about the jerrycan sellers etc - the power situation has fuelled a whole new industry. 4. Fix the aviation industry = what will become of the lucrative private jet business? 5. Fix Nitel (Historical dilemma) = what would have happened to our lucrative telecoms licences (MTN, Starcomms etc) 6. Remove import restrictions to promote free trade economy = HABA!!! you want to kill customs and smugglers nigeria inc. God help us. |
Lucasbalo: . You should be ashamed of yourself . The guy is a consumate businessman. His story should be an inspiration to u. Stop begrudging his success.Seriously Are you trying to whitewash the fact that this man conned his first customer and is smug and proud of it? I wonder why you feel i should be ashamed of myself for speaking the truth? I have no ill feelings towards the man o!! he wont be the first or the last business man to build an empire from defrauding customers...my real concern is with all the young men and women posting on how "inspired" they are by this man. Lets just call a spade a spade and stop trying to defend the indefensible. |
A business empire based on lies and started by defrauding his first customer. Ashish sold a used cheap computer as a new one and $100 above retail price and seems to be proud of himself. It seems the saying that "behind every great wealth, there is a great crime" holds true. |
My ATM machine has a "Happy New Month" greeting, everyone on the streets of Lagos is saying Happy New Month...Blackberry profiles have been updated to happy new month? Am I missing something here? Is this strictly a Naija thing and when did it start? |
Jesus was born to a jewish family (so of middle-eastern descent); He was a carpenter who worked and lived in the desert regions (typically bronze and tanned skin); In the (original version) bible, Johns vision described him as having hair like lambs wool (kinky/curly). You can draw your own conclusions. |
Assessment of being articulate is relative to one's level of education , background and standards. It therefore will not be progressive to debate that here. However i fault our dear commander in chief on two points: 1. Power has NOT improved in the eyes of the average Nigerian as claimed. Over the last quarter i have spent more on diesel and petrol that any other household expense and the PHCN office in my area has almost become a meeting place for residents every evening as we queue up to complain. 2. Major change in Power supply by the end of the year? How? where is the Gas, how long does it take to procure, import and install transmission lines and activate the DISCOs and metering systems? Very untrue sir. |
GEJ didnt dream, plan or aspire to be President...it fell on his laps. He just isnt prepared for what the role entails. Composure, confidence, clarity of expression, charm, grace and sincerity. Power for all by end of 2013 indeed! |
Ego is bigger than our fallen heros. Typical Nigerian...typical yoruba man. |
Country with no focus. Who gives a &$£X if its 100 or 90 years? Give us water, light and roads period. |
pro01: I don't understand why so many Nigerians strut around with a sense of entitlement. Employers can only employ individuals that add value to their organisation. . .You have said it perfectly! The OP wants western HR practitioners to show "BLACKS" the way? Very sad and myopic assumption that Western HR will be any more accomodating. FYI, there are many European investment banks with HR departments that only hire graduates from 6 universities world-wide, period. Remember that HR is only the "corporate messenger" of the MD/CEO and are only enforcing what management wants. |
Looking forward to all the "quasi-Lagosians" to go "Home" over xmas so the roads are less congested. Sadly, the only reason most people treat Lagos so badly is because they dont see it as "home". Good riddance folks. |
A loaded "complement" from ogbeni Rauf; too loaded and deep for most people to comprehend. We know how OBJ famously referred to his Attorney General as a man who " didnt know his left from his right" as Minister of Power. He said this about a man who was murdered while serving his country. Lets keep unveiling the statues! |
solomon111: A black president that won based on the sentiments of immigrants and AAs.My brother, the man won in redneck states also. There will always be ignorant people out there who dont like anyone who is different from them but that is not the majority. I find it strange that the article said homeowner and so many posters here assumed it was a "white" homeowner....by saying that - it is the message posters who are displaying racist tendencies. |
Who said the Homeowner was WHITE ? Free your minds and stop thinking everyone in the West wants to kill blacks. They voted in a Black Kenyan/American President twice but still its not good enough?... |
SLS: "puff".....i bet you fellas i can say the most inciteful thing to Nigerians before the end of this year. OBJ: You ke?, I'm going to double that bet. I will say that revolution from the youth is coming and that their President is not leading them well..."puff" SLS: Is that all? I'm going to say that in order to fix the economic situation and hardship, the FGN should sack 50% of its civil servants. Who cares what impact it has on gratuities, pensions and compensation expenses...and who cares how many million more Nigerians will be unemployed..."Puff..."....."Puff"..."Exhale" FOD: "puff"..."sniff"...."puff"; thats nothing - i'm going to say if we dont capture you on census then we take away your citizenship...."puff"..."puff"..."puff" SLS: Haba...even me i cant say such a thing...what about the millions of Nigerians in Diaspora? if you dont capture them in the census and withdraw their passports do you realise the implications? Nigeria would have created tens of millions of refugees overnight. FOD: Abeg leave me jare, i will say it and nobody can do a damn thing...abeg pass the lighter...."puff" GEJ: You boys are just talking childs play. Wait until my Christmas Day speech to the nation. Dem go hear am! |
Thanks Lawyer your post is extremely appreciated (and for me personally...well timed. Please do readers a favour and walk through the simple step by step stages to taking legal posession and owning title to "omo-onile" land. Below is my laymans attempt of the steps i assumed (which is probably wrong) and some questions i had for each stage. Please point me in the right direction. 1. Preliminaries, Site inspection and meeting family head, agree price etc 2. View title papers - please does family land have any form of "registered title" at Alausa - e.g. a global C of O? (or is this just for govt land); would you advise one buys family land if there is no such legal title? I've also heard the "Gazette" being mentioned...whats the difference and which one has better standing in Law? 3. Do a search at Lands to ensure land is not commited etc 4. Commission a survey of the land to map out your plot - what exactly do the Beacons signify and is it 100% essential that Beacons are put in the soil for the survey. Does the "Beacon number" appear on the title document? 5. Get a lawyer to prepare a deed of assignment - i.e. confirming that a portion of land on the global C of O has been assigned to the buyer? 6. Payment and exchange of cash for title/ assignment docs 7. fencing to take posession 8. application for "Governors Consent" and C of O in my name?? (please guide as i'm not clear which title document is required) apologies for the layman understanding above but please help fill the gaps in very simple terms. Many thanks and well done! |
Ada Nri1: You guys are so strange! See the way you are hailing what he did and smiling about it. If it were a woman now, heaven knows all sorts of unthinkables that would hav been rained on her. SmhYou see, its not strange at all. There is a saying that - A key that opens many locks is a "Master Key" and should be praised...but a lock that can be opened by any key is a "Bad Lock" and should be discarded. |
God has empowered all of us to open our eyes to see right from wrong. So when we are asked to give account of our deeds on earth, there can be no "story" or hiding place. Sadly, many people believe they can "fool" God or "settle him". Good luck to them all. Being a man of God is a serious responsibility; but sadly in Nigeria, majority of the so-called pastors are actually "Motivational Speakers" who use the bible as their reference point. Nothing in their lifestyle displays the teachings of Christ. I'm not saying i am a perfect role model....but thats why i'm NOT a pastor. |
