The number of PVCs in Oyo State, reportedly exceeds the total registered voters in the state as confirmed Punch who obtained the record from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s office in Ibadan. 

Though the number of registered voters stands at 2,934,107, the aggregate available PVCs is 2,962,646 which is 28,539 higher than the number of registered voters in the state.  Records on Thursday showed that 2,176,352 PVCs had been collected.

The commission's spokesperson Mr Olayiwola Awolowo who explained the causes of the discrepancy in the figures, said some of the owners of the uncollected PVCs are dead, while others had transferred their details to their new locations.

“The total number of uncollected PVCs is 786,294 while 2 176,352 PVCs have been collected.

“The total number of registered voters is 2,934,107. The difference in the figures of the PVCs and registered voters is because some owners of the uncollected PVCs are dead while some have been transferred.

 “All the sensitive materials have been distributed to the INEC offices across the state. As for the sensitive materials, they are still with the CBN. We will call party agents and journalists to witness the distribution of the materials as soon as we are ready.”

He further disclosed that 946 card readers were available as backup for those that might malfunction during the exercise, adding that 1,607 new polling units had been created across the state to ease the process

Nana Frema, a Ghanaian actress has defended getting a plastic surgery as she claimed Jesus Christ did plastic surgery after renowned former highlife artiste now Evangelist, Papa Shee stated that women wearing makeup and undergoing plastic surgery will go to hell. 

Nana Frema Koranteng who is one of the few Ghanaian female celebrities who have admitted publicly to have undergone body surgery to gain a curvy shape, disclosed that she visited one Dr. Dominic Obengfo of Obengfo Hospital for the surgical process. 

According to her, she visited the doctor to suction excess fatty tissue from her body to make her buttocks big, because growing up, she had a "stomach bloated and you know when your stomach becomes big, your buttocks starts to shrink. So, I had a go at it in order to return to my former state".

Nana who sat for an interview with Kwame Adjetia on Neat FM's "Entertainment Ghana" show, stated that Jesus Christ was the first person to perform plastic surgery on a human being. She backed her claims with Luke 22:51 and further said "Jesus Christ did a plastic surgery. Somebody’s ears were cut off and he fixed it. It was surgery. God is the one who has given doctors the knowledge".

A 27-year-old man identified as Kimutai Kemboi, in a new interview narrated how his female boss gave him HIV due to a challenge he faced. 

According to the man, he was offered financial support for his education when he was 22 by his female boss who demanded for sex to come through with the promise.  Kemboi disclosed that the single mother attached a sex string to her help, which he fell for and contracted the disease. 

"She said if I slept with her she would educate me. I was very desperate, so I gave in," Kemboi said in an interview with Kenya-based Switch TV.

The man further disclosed that he got to know that his female boss gave him HIV 2 years after. According to Kemboi, he tested positive to the virus and after he did a retrospection to trace the possible origin of the HIV, he recollected having an unprotected sex with his boss two years ago.

He accused the woman of deliberately choosing to be wicked to him, by offering sex when she knew very well that she was HIV positive.

"I got tested two years after I slept with her. I was confused when I got the results. I did four tests, and they still came back positive," Kemboi narrated.

"I think she knew she was positive and it is like she infected me intentionally" he added.

Odion Ighalo, a Super Eagles player who was expected to return to European football, has joined Shanghai Shenhua FC in China. 

The Super Eagles player whose team Changchun Yatai Football Club suffered relegation last season despite the 22 goals he scored, decided to continue his career in China by choosing to join up with Shanghai Shenhua. Confirming the news, Shanghai Shenhua wrote on their official social media handles;

An 81-year-old man remarried his 70-year-old wife, 32 years after they separated in a wedding ceremony that took place at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Half Assini in the Jomoro District, Ghana.
The 81-year-old man remarried his 70-year-old wife, after so much effort to get them back by their children. Recounting the challenges they faced before the beautiful reunion of their parents, the couple's eldest son, Mr Richard Kojo Arthur revealed that it took over three decades for them to realize that dream.


“We were quite young when the issues started so we didn’t really understand what caused the separation. Personally, I was in boarding school and would only come home during vacations.

“All that while, we lived in Takoradi but mum was enstooled as a queenmother of Jomoro in the Western Region and moved to settle there. My younger siblings were also in school so they lived with our father and occasionally, we visited our mum during vacations,” he reportedly told The Mirror. 

According to Mr Kojo, he started off the reunion process with his siblings however one of them could not live to witness the day. The couple's fifth son, Father Moses Kabenla Arthur, a Roman Catholic Priest at the Franciscan Valley of Prayer and Silence, Saltpond, officiated the renewal of vows.

Mercy Johnson who recounted the ups and downs of marriage and the sacrifices she had to make to sustain a happy home, disclosed that she stopped acting love the day she met her husband.

How do you spice up your own marriage, as we see more of you and your husband on Instagram?

How do you cope as a mother and actress?

I have kids, they always see me like the role model they have. So, everyday I try to do better to cover up the mistakes I made in the past. I try to make better diaries for them to avoid embarrassment, the Internet never forgets. I wouldn’t want them to grow up to see any embarrassing thing about me on the Internet. One day, I asked my daughter what she wants to become when she grows up, she looked me in the eyes and said: ‘Mummy, I want to be exactly like you’.

Are you happy with what you have achieved so far as an actress?

Yes, extremely happy. But I can still do better. We are never satisfied. I have goals to accomplish. Some are fulfilled, some I’m working very hard to accomplish. As long as you are alive, you always try to do better.

What kind of role you won’t play at this stage?

I think it’s nudity, any form of nudity.

What if your husband allows you?

He will never give me that consent. My husband is an Ishan man. Yes, he wouldn’t like that kind of thing. But I have to be very careful with everything I do now, because I have kids. I have to live right for them; and do everything within my comfort zone to maintain a clean slate. I have stopped doing romance roles; I now do more of comedy. I think I have enough of romance movies.

Is it because your husband gets jealous watching you kiss in movies?

From the minutes we started dating, I stopped taking body contact or body touching roles. I had to move to the next level.

The woman who flogged a boy (husband's nephew) to death over alleged theft of N6,500, has disclosed that she never knew flogging could kill him. 

The 47-year-old woman identified as Joy Egeonu who hurriedly buried the primary three pupil, Chibuike, in the Ifo area of the state immediately he died, told newsmen that the deceased and his younger sister had been living with her for seven years after their parents separated.

Joy who disclosed that Chibuike decided to stay back from church the day the incident happened, further revealed that she discovered that a sum of N6,500 she had kept in her room was missing even after she warned the boy to stay at home while she and the other children left for church. According to her when they came back from the church around 9pm, they did not meet Chibuike at home.

The woman who flogged husband's nephew to death, told newsmen that Chibuike started complaining of stomach ache as she was beating her, adding that she later knew that the money was taken by her husband.

“My room was disorganised. As I was wondering what could have happened, the boy ran inside and rushed to the toilet. When he came out, I asked him where he had been to. He said he attended a party in the neighbourhood. I found that the N6,500 I kept in my room was missing and I asked him if he took it. He said yes and that he kept it inside a vehicle.

“He took me to the vehicle, but I didn’t find the money. As I was beating him, he started complaining of stomach ache. I stopped beating him. He was still complaining of the ache when my husband came in. I told my husband what happened and he said he was the one that took the money. He said he came back from work and did not meet anybody at home" she said. 

She further disclosed that she made a concoction of ground bitter kola and milk for the boy to drink, and the ache subsided. However after a while, Chibuike started complaining of stomach ache again.

“I also asked him to put his hand in his mouth so he could vomit whatever he might have eaten. My husband had gone to bed. When the pain did not stop around 2.30am, I woke him up and we decided to take the boy to hospital. When we got there, a doctor confirmed that he was dead.

“I usually cane him, which I did that day. I only beat him on the hands and legs. I never knew that kind of beating could kill him. He was always with my husband at his workshop. His mother is my husband’s younger sister. She had an issue with her husband seven years ago, and they separated. Three of her four children, including Chibuike started living with me and my husband. My husband later took one of the three children to the village to reduce the burden. I did not kill him" she said.

A yet to be identified Anambra trader, reportedly abandoned N12.5m tramadol in in bags of garri as confirmed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). 


The Director General, NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, who disclosed this while speaking at the inauguration of the NAFDAC-Young Against Drug Abuse Awareness campaign and stakeholders’ meeting in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Wednesday, said the Anambra trader who abandoned the N12.5m tramadol in garri ran away on sighting officers of the agency. 

The NAFDAC DG who was represented by the State Coordinator, NAFDAC, Mrs Christiana Esenwah, spoke on the topic: ‘Abuse of psychoactive drugs in Nigeria: Our Problem’. Punch reported that she expressed concern over the increasing rate of drug abuse among youths, especially in the North-West.

“It is estimated that 70 per cent of the boys in Kano are on drugs, while a lot of young girls and women of childbearing age abuse drugs in order to overcome frustration,” Adeyeye stated.

A Nigerian man with three wives identified as Idowu Owolabi, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police command for raping his daughter.

The 45-year-old man with three wives, who was accused of allegedly raping his 21-year-old daughter since last year, was arrested on January 28, 2019, following a complaint by the victim at the Oja-Odan Divisional Police Headquarters.

The Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest said in a statement;

“The victim reported that she followed her father to the farm at Fagboun village and the said father forcefully had carnal knowledge of her right there on the farm sometime in March 2018. She stated further that since then, her father had continuously been having unlawful carnal knowledge of her with a threat that he would kill her if she dared tell anybody about it.

“Upon the report, the DPO Oja-Odan, CSP Olayemi Jacob, led his detectives to the suspect’s residence, where he was promptly arrested.On interrogation, the suspect, who was said to be married to three different women, confessed to the crime but blamed it on the devil.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.

A Kenyan woman, Naomi Nechesa Sanya, has been arrested and arraigned in court, for allegedly raping a teenage boy at a police station they were being detained in. 



23-year-old Naomi Nechesa Sanya who was arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot, who was previously arrested for murder, met the complainant along the corridors of the police station cells. The woman who was accused of raping the underage boy at Riruta Police Station in Kenya thereafter, however denied the allegation. 

“The 15-year-old boy had been arrested over a drug-related offence and could not be detained with adults in the cells,” State prosecutor Kennedy Panyako told the magistrate.

Nechesa who pleaded with the magistrate to allow her breastfeed her baby as she applied to be released on reasonable bond terms, said; 

“I have an 11-month-old baby who is breastfeeding. Since my arrest and detention on Sunday I have not seen my baby neither have I breastfed her.

“I urge this court, in the name of my child’s rights, [to] release me on bond or direct police to go to my residence and pick my baby and reunite her with me at the police station,” Nechesa further pleaded.

The lady who disclosed that she will plead guilty to the murder charge once investigations are completed, was released by Mr Cheruiyot who directed police to reunite the woman with her baby so that she can breastfeed her.

James Ingram who recorded several chart-toppers in the '80s, including his #1 duet with Patti Austin, "Baby Come to Me" ... as well as "Somewhere Out There" with Linda Ronstadt and "100 Ways",  had been fighting the cancer for an extended period.

Actress and choreographer Debbie Allen who confirmed the news of James Ingram being dead on Tuesday, said "I have lost my dearest friend. James who worked closely with Quincy Jones over the years and eventually co-writing Michael Jackson's smash hit, "P.Y.T."  won a Grammy for "Yah Mo B There" -- his duet with Michael McDonald -- and another for "100 Ways." He was nominated for 12 other Grammys.
