Guys make una chill out. Why I posted this AD is because the way Nigerians dey take bring lemon cars home for sale, I wont be surprised if they bring that airbus that swam the Hudson river back home soon.  I am sure all the domestic airlines are now bidding for the lemon plane. grin grin grin grin grin
If this is supposed to be funny - then you have done nothing to rubihs yourself and made it clear that you reason like a fish.
PoliticsRe: Reason Cctv Can Work In The Streets Of Lagos. by ilaugh1: 7:31pm On Jan 17, 2009
when you build roads - they say it is not priority

when you put street lights they say its not priority

when you tackle security, they say you are wasting time

whatever you do, they say it is not a priority, so, wise men and women - what is the priority while we give you the opportunity to make it happen.

If asked in simple english, if you were given the opportunity to govern Lagos for four years, what will you do, just watch them as they blab up and down without any meaningful plan on what to do to make a priority, these people who cant even govern their household, come in here to talk about governing a state and making isuues a priority, so I ask you, list in order of priorities what you will do if given the chance to govern Lagos -

see fools, nothing dey can do., so shut the hell up and let meaningful people talk while you come to NairaLand to blab.

@Poster

You and others talk as if you all hold the Midas Touch.

Have you ever thought about what is called a second opinion? and this is what I am going to give you just in a short sentence - and that is to ask you:

What if it works?

You have reasons why it wont work, but others, you agree with me, others who have the same brain like you, also beleives it can work, so, if it works, what will you say?

B.O.S.S.:
It's good and nice to talk about these things but the problem was that you actually didn't say these things without abusing these peeps and I think that's where the whole problem stemmed from. To be honest, even PapaBrowne posted his comment without abusing anyone. I thought this is a forum anyway and our opinion would always differ- that's life.
Scroll up and check who abused who first- I assume it that when someone calls you a slowpoke and a fool, you will laugh over it and pat her on the back for that - who the hell is she?

The point is this, we cant all be so blind to things when it is taking a good or better shape, i have seen the problem with people here is food, example maisuya - why not eat some of your suya my man? no wonder you have refused to see changes when there is one, how sad can some people be? When in the history of Lagos have you seen xmas lights festooned all the way down ikorodu road? no one is saying this is a big deal, but i am talking of things that make me as a person proud, example, you might be proud that you ride a car, which to me is nothing but a dung, you reserve the right to be proud of it, therefore, if i tell you i am proud of my country for the changes i have seen, that is my own, you can never control or tell me what and what i will spend my time being proud of - other people are proud of other things you think does not matter, but hey, what is your own business with that?

So, for all the chages i have seen, for all the beautiful ideas, for the beautiful city of Abuja, whether there is one better than it or not,  I hold my head high and say, I am proud of my country Nigeria- if you are not, then, good and well for you, you cant change my opinion or what i feel about my country, kapish.

I think the guy do not know a real change is. We need to send him on a short trip to china, malaysia, brazil and others developing countries. He can ask the average citizens of these countries what a change is.
Why do u think other people haven't go back home? I do go back home  atleast 2times in a year and I know there many pple like that. You shouldn't see all changes you mentions as your paradise but a hell. the so called Abuja you were talking abt is nothing than a washroom compare to other countries capital or you wanna talk abt the local wing of the abuja airport that is nothing than a kitchen compare to other places. Or you wanna talk abt the local aircrafts which is nothing than a flying molue bus.
Maybe you just us to know your prensence in naija after long life of hussle in the Oyinbo land. Welcome home ooo
See me see trouble o - why are you defending yourself, I mention your name? You find it so desperately necessary to defend yourself, hmmm, that speaks a lot, my man, you are a bush man.

You are a slowpoke. I never said anything about hating Nigeria. Fools like you get easily amused by flashing lights and the likes.  What changes have been made that are going to benefit the people in the long run? The lights and roads and such which they will probably allow to deteriorate. When they start making jobs available for the masses or reform the eduaction system then come back here and lick their ass cracks.
you are so right, pardon me for forgetting that I am a slowpoke and a fool, why not add, I am stupid, and many more other words you meant to send to your father at home.

I told you!Ignorant and insatiable Nairalanders are going to come after your post!

Leave them! They don't understand that progress is procedural and the fact that these little changes are happening signifies that there is hope in the air.

The only thing damping that hope right now is the Yar' Adua presidency!
They need to move out of the small place they occupy, that is the problem they are having, they cant see beyond their little space.

what can you do to impress? When road is bad, and you leave the road to face something else, these same people scream, why are you not fixing roads? When the whole of Lagos was in darkness, and you couldt see the roads you were driving on, these same people shout - why cant there be light on the roads, when the airports were tout ridden and noone wants to go there, these same people shout, why cant our airports be like it is abroad, now, airport is good, you talk about it, they then make it seem like nothing was done, now street lights, they still make it like noting was done, good roads, they say you havent done anything, tourism, they say is that what we will eat - so, what is it that will be done that you people will term meaningful and necessary? I weak o.

Why not start you own post and scream like 6 million kids are dying in Nigeria - hence I hate the country?

The poster seems to be a comedian.

Meaningful development = Christmas light, cable cars leading to expensive restuarants and hotels, isiewu spots? grin
B.T.W, I feel you were too partial in your assessment. You refused to talk about other states like oyo, ebonyi, borno etc.
You were only able to mention 4 out the 36 states and 1 capital.

If you are among the 25% who are partially loaded in nigeria, there's not doubt of living a good life in nigeria. Seems to be the case of the poster.

It looks like fashola and co arranged those christmas lights with their own money. Not the same oil money from PH. grin
no, my dear, you are the comedian here, you are someone who wants to teach another person what to write about, that makes you a comedian, not me who has written about just what I have seen - you can simply start your own thread and write about those other states you are talking about. Kapish.

What has bright lights on Ikorodu road get to do with the rich? Only the rich ply such roads? You obviously havent seen a cable car before, or where it is used in Nigeria, hence your myopic comment.

I laugh, please when something is obvious biko we no fit hide am! Oct 2005 I was going to London,on a sunday morning the day after the Bellview 2005 crash, it wasn't scary that the crash happened, what was scary was the fact that we were at the airport for over 8 hours and they could not tell us if we were still going or not?until the captain and the crew members came to tell us that they will go nowhere unless the know what happened to the flight or even locate the flight! common, isn't the funny and scary? not being able to locate an aircraft for more than 16 hours, when you are suppose to monitor the aircraft.why thats very funny and scary!.
and when the plane of the billionaire business man  - Steve Fosset - dis appeared in America, which they havent found till now, over a year ago, both plane and man - what did you say to that? It can not happen in America abi - you will say, it can only happen in Nigeria - right?

I now understand that you can still be as myopic and lack of reasoning even if you spend donkey years abroad.

It is sad that people who should know better now attribute anything and everything bad to their country and expect that same country to bless them, a country you can only curse and wish evil for, can only return the same to you, curses and evil - it is plain simple.

PoliticsI Am Proud Of My Country, Nigeria. There Is Hope In The Air. by ilaugh1(op): 2:26pm On Jan 17, 2009
Been in Nigeria for three weeks, Lagos, Abuja, Calabar, PH. I must say there had been a lot of meaningful developments, seems in every sector, you dont have to share my opinion, because, being a regular visitor home, I know what changes I can witness. If you havent been home in the past five years, this will seem strange to you, and i expect you to shout me down, but, I am not listeneing to you.

From Lagos, wow - bright light from the Airport all thru - Christmas lights all thru Ikorodu road, makes me feel I am in London, bright street lights on the whole length of Ikorodu road, Marina beach front is the most amazing change I have seen lately, VI seems to have been transformed, marked lanes, road signs, neat streets, i was happy.

At the local airport, i can see the lovely domestic wing, the new one, I can see shuttle airport buses moving passengers from one apron to the other, I was proud, orderliness, no more touting, i was happy.

Abuja- hmm, you will not beleive this is Nigeria- wide roads, marked lanes, nice road structures, six/eight lane expressways, solar powered street lights, lights on motorways, I was blasting myself thru Abuja with a satellite Navigation system that I bought, I never knew things were like that in Abuja, I am proud. Abuja should rank amongst one of the neatest cities in Africa. It is worth talking about.

Calabar, peaceful but enticing, nice roads, peaceful, Obudu was the relish, the ranch was out of the ordinary, I saw what we use to see abroad, electirc motors, hmmm -I am proud.

Several other places I went also made me proud, Lagos, planning CCTV, powering street light s with solar energy, I am proud. BRT transport system - bus lanes, oh, i tripped.

Night life is back in Nigeria, nice spots to visit, cool hotels, sophisticated restaurants, nice live band supplying music, wow - I tripped.

Pictures coming shortly.

Migines:
There were two women traveling to Las Vegas, the
plane had mean turbulence and bad weather. The
captain announced to everyone to get into the
crash position, head between the knees.

A white woman was sitting next to a black woman,
so the white woman took out all her jewelry and
started putting it all on, so the black woman
asked her what was she doing?

The white woman replied, when the plane goes down
and they see all my jewelry they are going to
think that I am famous so they will rescue me
first. So the black woman started taking off
all her clothes, so the white woman asked the
black woman, what are you doing?

The black woman replied, when we crash, the
first thing they look for is the "black box."
Boring.

jidody:
For those that are old enough to remember the 1991 C130 crash at Ejigbo, you will understand why some people are pessimistic about the Nigerian rescue situation. The gentlemen officers involved in that crash did not die as a result of the impact of the crash. They died from suffocation because rescue efforts did not get to them for over 24 hours. Sadly, almost 20 years after, not much improvement has been made in terms of the emergency rescue efforts. NEMA has only one helicopter for rescue efforts covering the whole country. We are left purely to the grace of God in Naija.
And how many people died during 911, why cant your great America prevent such things from happening, and how come still loads of people died from suffocation and many are still dieing due to the effect of that occurence, when will you ever learn that Nigeria is not claiming the same place as America- the same way you as a person can never equal yourself with your peers who have more sense, wisdom, money and everything than yourself.

I have had a good laugh reading thru all the responses to this thread,
some have queried why anyone should think that we cannot achieve
similar feat here others countered by narrating how poor our
response teams are. I whispered to myself that patriotism is good o!
But there is nothing patriotic in seeing a problem and covering it rather
than naming it and finding ways of dealing with it. Not long ago an air
craft crashed not into any river but right there at the airport and there
was almost no survivor, why? they were all burnt to death after the crash.
I can go on to bring to your notice similar occurrences but don't let me bug
you with more. Naija 4 life!
and you will close your mouth in shame when you count how many air crashes had occured in America with no single soul surviving, because this happened now, so America is in your own book, the only place it can happen, foking American third class citizen.

The Pilot was BRILLIANT and showed guts. Thank God nobody lost his/her life.

It is not a matter of bad mouthing Nigeria or being negative. It is a case of realism. Someone has to call a spade a spade abeg. If it was Nigeria, it is more likely than not that the people would have perished before or upon landing. But just for the sake of argument, if in Nigeria a pilot had gotten a plane safely on the River Niger or River Benue for example, many or most passengers would have likely DROWNED because our rescue services are practically non-existent (or if I want to be kind, they are grossly incompetent).

When Nigeria has something good to talk about, I'll be up there singing her praises. Until then, I'll tell it like it really is.
Foolish nin compoop - must everything that happens in America be compared to things at home? You need to get your head examined.

These days, it is seen as a very honourable thing to pick the gauntlet against everything that is government, all in the case of activism, it is easy these days for people to write on internet based magazines all in the pretext of activism, it is easy to write false hood about government and governemnt officials all in the sake of activism - are they realy making any meaningful contribution, i mean these activists? Apart from rabel rousing, and causing trouble up and down, what have they contributed too the society? They have been around since independence, yet, their impact is not felt, the country is still going down - so, isisnt it time they take on other trades, isint it time they change their style, most of them even now reside outside the country and write on issues they havent seen face to face - na wao.

Can someone ask AC to justify this claim? Why cant harsh words be used agains Soyinka? Hasnt he himself used very harsh words agains our President and many others in time past? Why cant Soyinka, a public personality, also be critisized and spoken against? Why cant he? AC should go and sit down inside a dung of shit and let our country move on, we have had enough of them so called activists.
