The thing is that whilst the trio look fantastic on paper, they're not quite of the same wavelength on the pitch...Before Messi's goals tonight, he had tried that move severally but Mbappe will rather attempt to take on many players and lose the ball. Too many big egos in that attack and it's hampering the team.

No matter how bad their wavelength is, it can’t be as bad as playing next to Greenwood and Sancho. Neymar is Neymar, Mbappe is Mbappe.

There was a time Iniesta and Xavi were dragging top 3 with Messi and Ronaldo. That’s the difference.

Fred is the best DM in the squad.

The defense would get terribly exposed without Fred. He’s one of the best(3rd most ball winning pressures in the PL) in cutting off opposition attacks - but he’s very terrible in possession.

If you keep Fred out of the squad, the passing would improve but United would be exposed when they lose the ball(which they do a lot because of Bruno’s high risk passing). United use 2 players to do the job of one player and still those two players fall short of the gold standard.

This is like playing with 9 men against 11.

Ole is where most of the issues lie. Even the much maligned Fred that I have take plenty of shots at does not deserve the bashing.

Ultimately, Ole has not implemented a system that allows these players to function well as a team, which is why we struggle when we face well organised teams. The team is over reliant on individual brilliance. If match winners dont win you the game we have nothing.

We dont have a manager that will hide your weaknesses while enhancing your strengths. Only Ole seems to need world class players in every position to succeed.

That squad is good enough to seriously challenge for major trophies. No other manager in the league has a squad full of world class players but the best managers are making it work and hiding their weaknesses.
