You should notice the emergence of Barcelona as the best club from the best league in Europe also coincided with Spain’s longest spell of success. Spain won Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012.

This had a lot to do with Barca’s 2006 CL victory and most especially Pep’s Barcelona from 2008 Summer to 2013 summer. That is a classic example of the best league contributing to the best national team.

Barcelona/Madrid players made up 98% of that Spanish side that went on to destroy all the teams put before them. Stop comparing that level of success to Italy, Greece or Portugal winning a one off competition and failing to defend their title in the next international competition.
