You are a follower of christ that believes God instructed moses and the rest to kill people, but don't believe God could talk to Mohamed and shekau to do the same.

You are a good christian cos your hypocrisy overflows.
Duh, even staunch muslims disagree that any god sent those guys, the difference is clear, open those eyes now.

Dumb question. Don't you believe moses was doing the work of god? Why is it that u don't believe the muslim terrorists too at least it was god that asked them to be killing too. Is moses not a role model to christians don't u use him in bible studies as a good man of god? Oh u want to deny moses now abi grin hehehehe
Moses did the work God told him to do, and that was to take the children of Israel to the promised land. This of course included sanctioned judgement of sinners who stood in the way. Today of course, we ALL know(except for those who are clearly disturbed in the brain by the devil) that we are in a different and NEW dispensation and covenant which the Bible itself states. In that NEW covenant/agreement/testament, God does the judgement Himself and has clearly commanded His followers to JUDGE NOT. Moses or any of the Bible characters of the Old Testament did not go about killing all sinners or unbelievers. They lived with a great deal of them peacefully. They only executed judgement on the 7nations on Canaan land AND those who opposed the nation of Israel unprovoked. Of course, even today, nations would fight those who fight them so as to protect their citizens, there is nothing wrong with that one till tomorrow. But the issue of the 7 nations was one of judgement which the leadership of Israel were commanded and permitted to carry out at that time. This is a world of difference from your friends(isil and co) who kill ANYONE they can access as long as he doesn't believe in what they believe, provoked or unprovoked.

Against enemies who subjugated them?? Are u kidding... Your dishonesty is growing by the day. The Canaanites were on their rightful land. Joshua and moses led the Israelites to kill everybody including children on top their own land... God ordained these killings. In fact he directed them, when they defeated Jericho, god told them to kill every man, woman and child .. God even supposedly stopped the sun in order to enable the complete extermination of some cities. At other times, he used hail to support the Israelites ..
Mr. Man, that we don't believe these stories doesn't mean we're not familiar with them .. U are a liar who would say anything to save face. . I won't go as far as to call you a fraud but your dishonesty these days is bordering on the fraudulent
Why do you think that the Canaanites were on their rightful land, you have their land receipts, Cof O and other documents i suppose? The point is that you inferred that from reading the Bible. However, you spuriously forgot the fact that in judging the same Bible, you should take all the sides of the 'story' to pass informed unbias judgement. From the Bible, the land was owned by God and He gave it to Abraham His friend, because the occupants displeased Him and He didn't want them there no more. It's not unfair for your landlord to send you out if your term has expired, is it?

That is it. Yet david is a hero!
David's case is even better. It is moses and joshua that are pathetic. The entered peoples territory to take over by force claiming god sent them. Killing everybody so as to take over their properties. And this same christians shamelessly condemn mohammed who was also working for god. Is isis not working for god too?
To be rational, you would not be selective. It's either you do not believe at all or you believe all. Else, you would sound as irrational as the quote. The same Bible that you believe that Moses, Joshua, Samson killed peoples also states that the land was given to the Israelites long time ago. Moses, Joshua, Samson and co did not live in a time where there was United Nations and World Peace Treaties. They lived in a time when it was the norm and survival of the fittest to secure territory.
Gen 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
Gen 15:16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

God had promised Abraham the land of Canaan, being the OWNER of Heaven and Earth and of ALL men. As evidenced in the above scripture, the land of Egypt was a land that is not theirs. The promise was Canaan and Canaan they got. All Bible students are agreed on these. Unlike their muslin counterparts who believe that isil and boko haram are not following their god but are extremists. Ask any responsible muslim including the President, they openly deny the terrorists as the are serving their own agenda and not their religion. Note the differenceand learn if you are still capable to.

The hypocrisy of christians stink to the high heavens!
Why am I particular about christians? Because they are the ones you would see condemning Islam as a religion of terrorism.

Please what did Moses, Joshua, Samson and the rest do in their life times? How different where they from Mohammed? How different was isreal from isis.

A group of people left a place and came into peoples lands, killing everybody including children and said it was god that asked them to take over the land.

Yet you condemn isis, yet you condemn boko haram.

Why should I trust a group of people who see nothing wrong with moses and caleb and joshua, but see them as role models?

Can somebody HONESTLY tell me how moses was not a terrorist and how is he not guilty of genocide? Why do you believe god spoke to moses but did not speak to shekau of boko haram?
The OP and its many subsequent addendums are the chief example of what we call FALLACY OF INCOMPLETE COMPARISON. As usual with the OP's moniker, he either lacks a complete grasp of what he is saying or has selective memory of reality. The reality is that NOBODY is a christian because of Moses, Joshua or Samson. Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, saved by grace through faith in the same Jesus Christ. You do not need to know, agree with, disagree with or even have the flimsiest idea of Moses, Joshua, Samson to be a christian. What must I do to be saved? Of course you know the answer having preached it before. But in case the devourer has eroded that knowledge, kindly look it up in a Bible or gospel tract.
In addition to curing your Ignoratio Elenchi, try to note that there is a world of difference between the aforementioned names and Mohamed, isis, boko haram and their family. Note once again that the first paragraph already shows clearly that there is NO Link between being a christian and liking or disliking characters in the Old Testament and world history. Moses, Joshua, Samson and co didn't go about killing EVERYBODY that is not serving their God unprovoked, Isil and boko do that. Moses, Joshua, Samson lived more righteous and moral lives than the OP, Isis and boko don't.

There are a lot of posts on nairaland set up by theist to somehow paint atheism as evil, forgetting the fact that atheism is just unbelief, they post long lists of communist atheist leaders in some vain attempt to cast all atheist as inherently evil. But this tactics is wrong and insincere, I bet I could post a list of murderous religious/christian leaders if I wanted to, and I can assure you it would be much longer than the atheist list. You cannot attribute the actions of some communist leaders to atheist today. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and those leaders were corrupted by the power they held.
With that in mind here is a list of some atheist leaders both past and present, that proves that atheism itself wasn't the driving force behind the murderous tendencies of those leaders.

It is not about your professed religion. The atheism principles themselves show us that such ideologies have no regard or purpose for life. An atheist has no reason to be alive or even die, it's a limbo. They have no moral compass or reason and can be crazy at any time T. Ask other atheists on the platform, they see nothing wrong with killing people if they had the powers.

Live your life according to GOD'S WORD, not the DICTATES of men.
Ask Jesus why He was baptised in water despite nothing in God's Word stating so, or ask Paul why he had a vow at Cenchrea or circumcised Timothy despite not been under the law. Christianity is not just about following or disobeying a set of rules.

Pastors, men from different walks of life keep beards and still look decent, it depends on how well shaven it is. The same way you can either look decent or indecent with clothes, not everyone looks like uncivilized with beards, it all depends on how you keep the beards. Stop stereotyping.

Social perception. The society we live in see beards as indiscipline, uncivilized, irresponsible and tainted. That's why you'll hardly see military people with beard. Those who wear them are usually muslim or weed smokers or insane. It's a thing of perception and perhaps not being spotted or tainted. Your beards should not be so dear to you as to make you leave your church or ministry or offend your brethren,if it does. Show yourself it's just a beard.

I was watching National Geographic Channel some months back, It was an episode of "Ultimate Survivor" with Barrack Obama on the show.
At the end of the show, Bear grills prayed for the president of the United states, asking God to guide the president and bless him.

Obama made a statement that got me thinking, " No atheist in the wilderness, no atheism when you are lost at sea..." It got me thinking.

I could imagine a boat lost at sea, parked with men without religion and superstition.

I could imagine a storm taking the boat off course.

I could imagine these strong defiant men, fighting the winds and waves.

I could imagine these men running out of food.

I could imagine this men enduring painful cold nights, the cold cruising through their mortal bodies and leaving pain in it's wake.

I could imagine the man staring into the darkness looking around at the supposed endless boundless ocean.

No one in sight...

No light but that of the stars and moon.

Shivering...

The hunger...

Then a ROAR!!!

What is that?.. Again a shadow creeps by...!

It's under the boat!

Peeping from the sides unto the water illuminated by the lone moon...

Yes! It's under the boat!

Alas! It's larger than the boat!

Goodness! What is it? The boat which is their only protection all of a sudden becomes insignificant. For the shadow beneath must be 10times larger!

They have heard the legends, the monsters and the mysteries. The unknown lurks in the dark.

These are brave men. They have always held their own. They work to feed their families, the work to make a home, they fall trees to make fire to keep themselves and their families warm. They have killed beasts of the field, air and sea and fed on their flesh.

Now death has come to feed on their own flesh.

The devil reaches out for their souls.

Men that never called on God can only hold on to God now, for here their strength is f no good. Death comes calling only the hand of an Almighty is able to save.

They find good.

The night passes, there is land just a few kilometers away! The hand of God has taken them to shore!

Getting to land, every sailor goes on his knees praising God. The God that heard them in their distress and saved their souls!

God Almighty! I will worship you forever, for only you could have saved my soul.
Obama simply alluded to a passage and fact found in the Bible, he's well read. This attention seeker OP is a most confused fellow. It sucks to be a sinner.

1 Thessalonians 5:2-4
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Look at how that chapter started, Paul talks about times and seasons, just what I am saying here that the time and season is upon us, I have given no specific day I have only given a reference period. In verse 2, Paul says what we all know- the day of the Lord cometh as a thief in the night.

in Verse 3 Paul says when they say peace and safety, that is the signal for sudden destruction, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

In verse 4, Paul now says- we brethren are not in darkness that that day should overtake us as a thief. You see the progression? You see it? I am not twisting Scriptures as ignorant Image123 like to ignorantly say, I am laying it bare for anyone who is ready to receive it.

You are a liar and a person that spin and churn out lies just because you choose to believe and accept ancient mythology and fiction. Jesus said he did not know the day or hour of his return and not the period. He was specific about day and hour. He never mentioned the period. It's a lie to claim he did not know the period since he has stated to different people that he'll return during their lifetime. He was clear about not knowing ONLY the time and hour. Remember he also told the chief priest that he'll see him coming from the clouds with power and glory on his return when he asked him if he was the son of God.
Like i have earlier stated, you do not know Jesus or understand Him. It's like me trying to explain what your father told you to you, it's ridiculous. The disciples did not take it the way you do, neither do many millions of believers, so you should be some sort of genius to figure it out, or like you know really, you're deluded to assume that Jesus failed. You don't even know Jesus, so shut up already as it were. Day, hour, second, week are all periods or season or time. A day for instance is a period of 24 hours. Coming here to spin english for us just shows how desperate you are to be right. Even after the resurrection, the disciples were still asking Him about when those things will be, He did not presuppose like you, He told them plainly that He did not know and it wasn't really their business or priority. All these really go to cement the fact that He never told them He was coming back in their lifetime.
Act 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Act 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

On the HIGH priest, not chief priest, of course he will see Jesus, pretty much everybody will see Jesus, including you. That is a statement of fact. It's in the hereafter, not necessarily in your lifetime or his.Plus i've mentioned on the uniqueness of the words of Jesus which you clearly did not get so lemme not waste further time on that at this time.

Just as the days of Noah it says. Noah knew the flood was going to happen during his generation and the life time of the people he was talking to. What he didn't know was the specific time and hour the rains will begin. Same as Jesus, Jesus told the people he'll return during their lifetime but the specific time and hour he says he does not know. So he told them to be ready at all times.
Being clever by half is dishonesty and hypocrisy, that's what you played on the gullible ones there. The text reads as below.
Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
The days of Noah referred to did not refer to the time or day or period but clearly to the attitude and lack of preparedness.

Jesus was more interested in the hour and day, so he told his desciples to take heed and be ready at all times. He was specific about hour, morning, evening or midnight. He never mentioned period only specific hour and day. So you fail with your spin. Only day and hour he said he doesn't know. He talked about returning during the generation of the peoplehe was talking to. He specified by saying THIS generation will not pass away without this things happening.
Repetition. This is treated above. The THIS generation has been explained to your colleague. He referred to the generation that will see the signs He talked about. When you see those signs, lemme know.

Sure Jesus was talking about his second coming but he wasn't talking about the period. He was specific about not knowing the hour or day and not the period in which he'll return. He stated it about 3 different times to different people that he'll return during their lifetime. His prophecy failed and is a major concern to you that is why you are all over the place spinning his words and telling lies. The bible is filled with endless contradictions that is why there are uncountable number of Christian sect mostly disagreeing with each other on doctrinal matters and other faiths related issues. This is one clear case of failed prophecy on Jesus's part.
If you knew Jesus, you would not say the nonsense above. That's all that needs to be said.

Saying that it surpasses the immediate listener is your own making and spin. Other christians have interpreted this verse very differently from you here on nairaland. You are just giving it your own twist and opinion just the way they have giving theirs and alll your opinions and spin differ. I cam give you links to their own different spin and opinions. We've debated this verse before with other christians. You guys just spin it differently. If the message is for the end church which cities in Israel is Jesus telling them to run to? Don't come up with your spiritual Israel spin because it is a lie and will be your own making . Jesus was specific in his message according to the story. He told them to run round the cities of Israel specifically and before they finish runninghe'll return. If the message is for the future church as you are claiming why did he mention cities of Israel?

Even from the bible you'll read that they disciples suffered persecution even in Israel. After Jesus was arrested his disciples had to run. Peter had to deny him three times because he his followers were to be arrested and face persecution. Paul was going after them within Israel and it's environment. According to writings in the new testament, Paul was dedicated to the persecution of the early disciples of Jesus in the area of Jerusalem before he encountered Jesus on his way to Damascus. It is a lie that christians expanded from Jerusalem. Majority of the people living in Jerusalem are Jews as majority of the Jews never became christians . Very few christians have lived and are living there. Christians started expanding from gentile lands. Disciples were first called christians not in Israel but in the gentile land of Antioch which was a Greko Roman land in present day Turkey. So again you are just mixing facts up. Stop spinning the messages of Jesus with regards to coming during the lifetime of the people he spoke to. He was specific, doing so only makes you a desperate liar.
It clearly surpasses the immediate listener as most of them never faced the situations presented before them, the words of the Lord Jesus are eternal, spirit and life. You couldn't understand that to save your life so i do not need to waste lines on it. i did not say anything about any end church(whatever that means). i said the church and body of Christ as a whole. There are believers in Israel, and they are yet to go over the cities of Israel as we speak. You may feel free to prove otherwise. Either the devourer has been busy eating up your comprehension or you are blinded by God knows what. For instance here is what i said of the 12 disciples in purple.
"They conveniently settled in Jerusalem and continued to expand. It was OTHER believers that fled and were scattered abroad."

Here is what you somehow think i said in green below.
"christians expanded from Jerusalem. Majority of the people living in Jerusalem are Jews as majority of the Jews became christians . Many christians have lived and are living there. Christians did not start expanding from gentile lands."

So who is mixing facts up, i was paraphrasing the below verse.
Act 8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
The apostles i.e the 12 disciples did not flee Jerusalem, not to mention run round the cities of Israel. They settled there and the church continued to grow despite the persecution. It was OTHER believers that fled and were scattered abroad. You already read me say these things, it is a miracle how you understood otherwise. When you are fumbling with my words, how would you cope with the words of the Word Himself. Like they say, go and sit down. i've shown you and your cohorts what hurricanes and tsunamis are, you scurried to seeming Bible contradictions. God knows where next.

Don't be mad?? Are u running scared?? Calm down, okay?
So the Matthew reference was talking about transfiguration?? In my bible, the good news version. The heading of that part reads: "Jesus speaks about his suffering and death."
Just so we are clear, i'm discussing the Bible, not headings and leggings of whatever versions.

Now the preceding verses to verse 28 i.e. verse 27 says
27 For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will reward each one according to his deeds.
So did Jesus come with angels on the mount of transfiguration?? Or did he reward each according to his deeds?? Why are u lying like this... Or verse 27 is also talking of transfiguration??.
Yes, Jesus would come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and THEN he will reward each one according to his deeds. That time is yet to come. Verse 28 is a different reference by Jesus and it says SOME will see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. The word kingdom there is more accurately splendour, royalty or glory. Peter attested to seeing it. What more can any ask for except for scoffers?
2Pe 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2Pe 1:17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

As regards the other verses I quoted, they are not talking about this generation.
Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place…“ (Mark 13:26-30)
It says THIS generation! How can it refer to our generation 2,000 years ago by using the word THIS. Abi Jesus no sabi English again? Or whatever language he was speaking
i never referred to OUR generation. That is how you fail comprehension and fail to see what Jesus accurately said. i clearly stated "the generation of the people that would witness those signs spoken of", "The generation of people that would witness those things talked about will not pass away before the second coming." i did not say that it is YOUR or OUR generation. And clearly, it is not Peter's generation as they did not see those signs come to pass.
