Christianity Etc › Re: What Is Considered Sexually Immoral? by Image123(m): 4:26pm On Sep 24, 2014
Bidam: Simple, we are in love is a wordly use that leads to fornication and adultery. Bible said we should flee it.( 1 cor 6:18) our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, we are BOUGHT at a PRICE, so has Christians we are first and foremost married to Jesus, we should honour God first with our own bodies before any other thing.

The rate and which sex is glamourise and seen as normal these days is frightening..Even some teachers on this forum had advocated some scriptural connotation claiming premarital sex is not a sin.

Paul had made it clear that it is GOOD for a man NOT to marry( 1 cor 7:2). But that doesnt mean folks shouldnt marry. You have to discern by the Spirit what God means.. I know many people marry for the PRESSURE of sex and that is what paul is preaching against here. If you can't control your body by the Spirit of God so that you can TANK up scriptures in your heart and wait for God's right timing for marriage, which is better. Then seek to stay single and WAIT UPON THE LORD. Marriage is ordained and instituted by God.

So many has misinterpreted the 1 cor7 verses like the catholics who said rev fathers should NOT marry and many pentecostals who insist young people should rush into marriage to avoid fornications.

It is far better to wait upon the Lord concerning marriage than to marry the wrong person for flimsy reason of sexual immorality and end up in trouble. Most cases of divorce is as a result of wrong marriages..Good morning sir.
Bidam brother, good to read you. how body, soul and spirit?

@OP. Perhaps you're the writer of the article or share the sentiments and opinion of the writer. You need to be aware that it is wrong for a married man to neglect his family. If that is what pastor Chris did, it is wrong and unjustifiable. You seem to be justifying it and that is the impression i hope to correct.

i'm not a fan of tbj, neither i'm i happy to see him in some trouble. But truth be said, the man lacks a good grasp of the english language. You can see the man struggled with the journalists'request saying it is too early to give a sympathy or commiserating message. You guys should at least cut him some slack on this building collapse issue. i believe he is trying his best to cooperate with the government and investigations going on. He's a generous man so it comes as no surprise that he's doling out stuff. Unfortunately, the man no too sabi bible. The surprise is the journalist using the situation to create a scene and make some 10mins fame for himself. To me, that's not a smart bribe. Dunno what he was thinking, but people giving bribe don't just apologise for keeping journalists waiting and give them money allegedly for fuel. Bribe is more subtle and covert. While the action might arguably be seen as a bribe, the context and the motive says no.
Christianity Etc › Re: Tithes And Offerings by Image123(m): 10:37pm On Sep 20, 2014
debosky: You do not understand my simple point - Ola is picking and choosing what verses he converts into 'principles' - can you give me one good reason why tithing as described in Malachi under the law is any different from wave and heave offering? Why is tithing of Malachi more 'deserving' of being a principle than wave and heave offering?

If being 'good' is the only requirement for being a principle, what is 'bad' about wearing single material fabric or staying out of the temple during monthly flow provided you're not doing it for 'justification'?

If you simply said it is good to do x and y, that is different from saying it's a principle. If you can't see that distinction then don't bother - you don't understand where I'm coming from.
You cannot force people to convert every bible verse into principles simple because they employ a particular principle. Tithes, heave offerings and wave offerings are ALL forms of offerings. There is NOTHING wrong in offering any of them till tomorrow. Infact, tithe can be a form of heave offering, Numbers 18 severally says so. To heave is simply/basically to lift up an offering, like you would lift a cup won, in acknowledgement that God is the source and provider. To wave is simply/basically to wave, take the offering from hand to hand. Nothing so academic or scholarly about it. i can easily wave or heave my tithe if i so please, however tithe is a tenth. However if you are trying to speak(i guess) in the context of say burnt offering, peace offering, passover, like asking why Olaa is tithing but not offering peace offering. The question has already and severally being answered. There is almost no point AGAIN offering those offerings as their purpose is achieved in Jesus'offering for us. Those offerings were done usually to atone, to appease, to justify, to cleanse.
i don't recall mentioning that being 'good' is the only requirement for being a principle. There is nothing 'bad' about wearing single material fabric or staying out of the temple during monthly flow provided you're not doing it for 'justification'?
It is good to give tithes. But if fellows continue to insist that it MUST be done like they claim to see in the old testament(i.e going to Jerusalem, agricultural produce, to levites etc), then it needs to be explained that it is the principle that is being followed, not the routine/practice.
Christianity Etc › Re: Tithes And Offerings by Image123(m): 1:22am On Sep 19, 2014
debosky: Sir, I have the foundational truth which is why no amount of 'Malachi principle' can confuse me. smiley

My point is very much established and wasn't against tithing in its basic form - 10%. However if one wants to convert a specific commandment in Malachi specific to a temple and call it a 'principle' then that is plain copying to me.

I haven't spoken about justification at all here so you should be able to deduce that it isn't the bone of contention here. No point to repeat what is not being contested.

Is wearing single fabric clothes/staying out to the temple during monthly flow also 'good works'? After all they are in the OT for our 'learning'.
i'm not talking about THE foundational truth, which maybe is Jesus Christ, or faith in Him(to you i guess). i'm talking about a foundational truth in understanding the Bible as a whole.
When you ask why Olaa is not obeying this or that commandment, it has to be explained why. The explanation again being the context of the commandment. Is a particular Bible commandment good? Yes, the law is good, and holy. Is there something better than that commandment available in the same Bible? What is the aim of the commandment? Is it a sin to obey the commandment? Is it wrong to obey the commandment. These are some factors you consider.
If you keep insisting that Olaa keeps wave and heave offering, else he has broken all the 'principles'. You are talking about justification.
Staying out of the temple during monthly flow was a purification thing for instance. It determined if the person was clean or unclean. In the new testament, we both know what determines being clean or unclean.

kaysy: 1) You don;t have to travel to your school for mobilization after getting call up letter, you should proceed straight to camp
2) You should be able to round off clearance 1month after graduation except u'r not serious with the clearance issue
3) If your school is advanced and technologically inclined, there is no point traveling to collect statement of result, you should be able to print it online from your school portal.

Finally The N4,000 is optional for only those willing to reprint their call up letters in the case of loss/theft/damaged one.
I don't understand you clearly, did you say the money is optional? If yes, no wahala. They should make it very clear that the money is optional for all prospective corps member.
1.Mobilisation is done BEFORE getting the call up letter. Is there anything done, or any plan to do anything by the nysc to stop pre-mobilisation?
2. I think the nysc should consider everyone, not just serious prospective corps members, whatever that means. Different scenarios play out at different times. Anybody can be on strike either nationwide or in a particular school from nasu to ssanu to ASUU to students. Senate takes varying times to approve stuff like results and co, department and faculties also vary in level of competence and efficiency.
3. Nigerian schools are not advanced or technologically inclined. This is an obvious fact. The ones that pretend to be will only corruptly further exploit by asking for another ridiculous money for scratch cards to be used on pitiable webpages to do more harm than good.

kaysy: What is this one talking about, i don't think you understand What all this is all about
What he is saying is that the nysc's reasons are unreasonable. Because prospective corp members will still travel to their schools for mobilisation, clearance, statement of results etc. After that, they will still TRAVEL to the camp they are posted and do one or two days of registration. The nysc should stop lying and exploiting helpless people. They can make it an optionif their cause is indeed noble. At least they have staff being paid with Nigeria's money to do the paperwork.

WinsomeX: And I explained to you what led to the question.

So, which one is it: all or a selects few are MOG?
Quite typical of drumb to lack comprehending ability. Indeed, can a leopard change his spots?

WinsomeX: ^^^
I can understand your referral to your Matthew 23 exegesis but should we not be increasing in knowledge rather depending on former writing that do not address present questions adequately?
If you want to know what Jesus means by Matthew 23v8, read that link until it sinks. The link explains what Jesus means. Knowledge/wisdom is not necessarily connected to real time, else your writings would have been more relevant than a certain book finished about 2000yrs ago. Do you really think through?

The thread reads: who is a man of God? The OP asks: is everyone a man of God or a select few?
You admit in your first posts that everyone is not a man of God but you find it difficult to agree to the implication of that statement which is that if all Christians are not men of God, then only a select few are.
You are getting delirious. i very clearly stated "Obviously, two things come out. There are men of God in both the Old and the New. Also, everybody is not a man of God." If you have difficulty understanding that, ask someone that speaks english better.

To shed some light on your prevarications, I ask what you understand by Christ statement in Matthew 23:8, you refer me to a stale discuss that is not relevant here.
i referred you to the answer to your question. i was careful enough to refer you to the exact post that explained the verse. You glibly posted the whole post here and ironically state that it is irrelevant HERE. Do you think at all?

It is either one of the two: is either we are all men of God, agreed, with varying degrees of maturity; or only a select few are: a position that stands in contrast to Jesus' statement in Matthew 23.
What exactly is your position?
My position is very clear already. Here it is again, "everybody is not a man of God." You may send in your native language if you need translation.

Vin14: Shorn means to cut closely with scissors -it's akin to being shaven .That is why Apostle Paul says to "shave or shorn" as synonyms. The very purpose why God gave long hair to women, is for intimate differentiation which is the meaning of "covering".If women cut that long hair to resemble men's short hair ,then there is no need for hair on a women's head.So that is what Apostle was saying here.Women should not try to cut their hair short to resemble men, because their long hair is given as a covering over their body which project man's glory which is also the symbol of authority on womens head because it clearly differentiate between man and a woman from an angelic point of view-1 Corinthians 11:10.Now if for some reason (cancer chemo/radio therapy or other disease) a woman donot have natural long hair, then she should cover her head with a cloth/cap.
You said AS in the bold, why are you blatantly denying that? i have no further things to say to you regarding this.

Vin14: Paul ends the passage by saying-1 Corinthians 11:16-If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice--nor do the churches of God.He doesn't say "we have no such practice" but "we have no other practice" and it's not a matter of debate for it's a universal rule in all God's churches.

Please do not twist God's word and mislead people.
Sorry, the greek word used was 'toyootos' and it means such as this, of this kind or sort. That means the church is not contentious.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Bible Justified It That A Women Can Go To Church With Her Hair Uncovered! by Image123(m): 2:36pm On Sep 16, 2014
Vin14: This is not a ramble. You didn't see my reply.Shorn= cutting all hairs with scissors=Shaven=shaving all hair with razor.

In 1Corinthians11:5-Apostle says- But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head,it is the same as having her head shaved. In the next verse he says-For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. So it becomes clear that to be "shorn" is v.6 is synonymous with "shaven" in v.5.So the meaning of shorn in this context is to cut all hair with scissors. If the women want to twist the God given purpose of their natural long hair to cut and resemble male hair pattern, then it's better to cut off or shave off all hair on their head.
i'm not about shorn or shave. i'm about long hair short hair. They hardly have anything hinting them as cover.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is A Man Of God? by Image123(m): 1:28pm On Sep 16, 2014
Image123: Mr suspect drumb.

2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
The phrase "man of God" appears a staggering 75 times in the old testament as compared to it appearing just 2 times in the new testament Bible. Obviously, two things come out. There are men of God in both the Old and the New. Also, everybody is not a man of God. A look at the Bible shows that every child of God is not matured. It takes maturity to be a man. There is a slight difference between CHILDREN and SONS. Even John did not class everybody together.
1Jo 2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
1Jo 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
1Jo 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

Moses and Elijah were specifically referred to as men of God in the Bible. Some other men not so popular were also referred to as men of God. At the end, the important thing is to serve God in fear and faith. God knows His own, you better know where you belong.
2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Bible Justified It That A Women Can Go To Church With Her Hair Uncovered! by Image123(m): 1:16pm On Sep 16, 2014
Vin14: No,it makes perfect sense.1 Corinthians 11:5,6 says 5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

Shorn means to cut closely with scissors -it's akin to being shaven .That is why Apostle Paul says to "shave or shorn" as synonyms. The very purpose why God gave long hair to women, is for sexual differentiation which is the meaning of "covering".If women cut that long hair to resemble men's short hair ,then there is no need for hair on a women's head.So that is what Apostle was saying here.Women should not try to cut their hair short to resemble men, because their long hair is given as a covering over their body which project man's glory which is also the symbol of authority on womens head because it clearly differentiate between man and a woman from an angelic point of view-1 Corinthians 11:10.Now if for some reason (cancer chemo/radio therapy or other disease) a woman donot have natural long hair, then she should cover her head with a cloth/cap.
It makes it a ridiculous repetition which is very unlike Paul. What is the meaning of "If a woman will not have long hair, let her have short hair. If it is a shame for a woman to have short hair, let her have long hair." That is called rambling and Paul didn't ramble bro. Also, the passage says the hair is given her FOR a covering. You say the hair is given her AS a covering. Correlate that.
Christianity Etc › Re: Did Yahweh fail in his Promise To Abraham? by Image123(m): 1:08pm On Sep 16, 2014
macof: Lmao now this is still part of what the op is saying, promises promises but no delivery

The Jews set foot in Babylon, Persia, Philistia, Phoenicia etc why didn't they claim the places since Yahweh has supposedly given them at the moment they set foot in it? grin

And btw ur post doesn't answer my question...I asked where in the Bible did Hebrews have the lands Yahweh promised

this land is from Sinai peninsula (modern Egypt) to Halabiye in eastern Syria

Look at the maps
The context of the verse i quoted says "as I said unto Moses". There was a promise on ground to Abraham and his seed, and that was what was told Moses.

Gen 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Gen 15:19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
Gen 15:20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
Gen 15:21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

This was the promise, it was left for the seed to claim it at the appropriate time. What they claimed was the land of Canaan only, not God's fault.
Gen 12:6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
Gen 12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there built he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

They seemed fixed on Canaan only while they could have had more.
Gen 13:14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
Gen 13:15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.

This above again is the land of Canaan guaranteed.
Gen 17:8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

God gives a start(Canaan) and much more. It is up to the individual to take what potential God has given. God for instance has given the land of Nigeria crude oil since MANY years. Why did Nigeria not use it until less than 100years ago? Is it God's fault? Why is Nigeria mismanaging it, i guess to you it is God's fault too. Man is a free WILL/moral agent and God appreciates us putting it to good use. God made us in His own image and likeness, not as robots that He needs to do everything for.
It is the same today for every man. The promises of God are abundant and yea and amen. Everyone is expected to tap into the vast and inexhaustible promises of God. You need to drill, you need to mine, you need to extract and refine the precious things. Today, God offers healing, salvation, etc etc blessings. Some people take nothing, some take healing only, some take salvation only. God has built us all with massive massive capacity.

Jos 21:43 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he swore to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
Jos 21:44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he swore unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
Jos 21:45 There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

Like i've explained, it is a process. God gives(positionally), then you go and work, then God (experientially) gives. Observe the trend in the verses below.
Positional- Jos 8:1 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:

Go to work- Jos 8:7 Then ye shall rise up from the ambush, and seize upon the city: for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand.
Experiential- Jos 8:18 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Stretch out the spear that is in thy hand toward Ai; for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward the city.
Jos 8:26 For Joshua drew not his hand back, wherewith he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.

That's the way these things work basically, except of course you are not interested in understanding or growing in the knowledge of God.

The musician Kenny K'ore, a regular discussant on that page, raised a question, saying simply:

Who is a Man of Godhuh?

The discuss has raged on now for over three days and the points raised are really interesting

So I share it here. Friends who do we thinks is a man of God today? Are there some select few called men of God or are all Christians men of God?

While I will love to hear from everyone on this forum, I will most especially like to know the views of the following on the subject: PastorKun, Gombs, mbaemeka, SirJohn, Candour, BabaGnoni, Joagbaje, Peter007, Image123, Bidam, Goshen360, frosbel, ichuka, Tgirl4real, and others. Hope you see this on mention.

It is after the rapture because that is when all sickness will be no more, and all sinners will be gone gone. For now/today, you can employ faith in Jesus for healing or find a cure. The two are available and possible.

debosky: To learn from - not to repeat/copy senselessly.

The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness therefore because they did it I must go and spend 40 years in the wilderness so I can 'learn from it'. undecided

If you follow the 'principle' of Malachi (doing what the law commands) but ignore the 'principle' of wave and heave offering, you have broken all the 'principles'. Geddit?

James 2:10 For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God's laws.

Get it into your head.
Tithing is not SENSELESS copying or repetition. BTW, any 2 or 3 things you learn from the Israelites 40years in the wilderness?
You need to understand that James and scriptures generally is talking in context of being born again/justified/pleasing acceptable to God. The route to being acceptable to God has changed. If one wants to follow the old testament route, then one has to follow it thoroughly which BTW is impossible(says the Bible). Nothing wrong with good works(tithing is one), but if you want to use good works route to be justified or seen as righteous before God, you have to observe every law without missing it(which i say again is impossible). Jesus told the people of His time that none of them was keeping the law. Paul said all have sinned and there is none good, not one etc. That route is impossible. The new testament route is faith in Jesus. You will continue to miss it and be confused if you don't understand this foundational truth, whoever YOU are. Get that into your spirit.

If we follow the 'principle' of Malachi why can we not follow the 'principle' of heave offering and wave offering? Abi those 'principles' are not worth following? Aren't 'ALL SCRIPTURE' useful for doctrine or you sef don dey practice pick-and-chooseism'?
It's not my grammar, it is what is in the Bible. It is a good understanding of the old and new covenant. There are principles, lessons and practices that are employable in the two. Again, it is like moving from undergraduate to graduate. Some principles(many i guess) from undergraduate days are applicable in graduate and employment. They are different stages and you are not doing or knowing things to be examined or graded in the same sense or pattern.
The heave offering is a thank you offering. You hold it up in appreciation and acknowledgement that God helped you. The same principle is used in tithing today. If you wan wave your tithe before you drop am, i no think say God go send you to hell or because of that no accept am again. No problemos.

Weah96: The creator is the same as the healer. After creating Ebola, and allowing its integration among people, are you telling me that he then sets out to heal the same people he inflicted with the disease?
You obviously need to start reading what i post before replying.

Christianity Etc › Re: The Bible Justified It That A Women Can Go To Church With Her Hair Uncovered! by Image123(m): 4:12pm On Sep 15, 2014
Vin14: She should not cover over the natural long hair covering given to her by God.This natural long hair covering is given to block the man's glory her body projects, when in the presence of God. (1Corinthians11:1-16).

1Co 11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoreth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
1Co 11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

Your interpretation suggests that natural long hair is her covering. In that case, the above verses read as follows below.

"But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered BY NATURAL LONG HAIR dishonoreth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven(HAS NO NATURAL LONG HAIR).
For if the woman be not covered WITH LONG NATURAL HAIR, let her also be shorn(WITHOUT LONG NATURAL HAIR) : but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven(WITHOUT NATURAL LONG HAIR), let her be covered(WITH NATURAL LONG HAIR). "

The green above is what you are saying and giving as interpretation, please correct me if that is wrong. It makes very little sense if any in my humble opinion.
