Christianity Etc › Re: Now That Want To Be A Christian, Should I Stop Listening To Non-gospel Music? by Image123(m): 7:45pm On Mar 05, 2011
@cemehere
I see you o brother. Please keep up the good work. For they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh and its affection thereof.
As for me, there was a time i had to do away with radio almost completely, because devil is always there waiting and it was kinda besetting sin for me. But God saw me through, now i'm dead(lemme scare some ignorant sinner) and i die daily. You could have four radios on the cardinal points around me blasting 'worldly music', and i'm not even hearing what they're saying.
But of course, i know not to be foolish enough to remain. And i sing TO the Lord as a matter of compulsion, that Colossians passage mentions it. God will continue to grace us with grace, and we'll sing in Heaven in Jesus' name.
Christianity Etc › Re: Now That Want To Be A Christian, Should I Stop Listening To Non-gospel Music? by Image123(m): 7:30pm On Mar 05, 2011
So must all our songs be psalms, hymns and spiritual songs? i tunk i'll be putting you under the law if i said YES. That's our benchmark. We come across 'secular' songs that may not fit this frame. Song like anthems(national, school, club, military etc), nursery rhymes, jingles and adverts, camp songs etc. my advice for the christian is 'whatsoever you do, do ALL to the glory of God'. Remember, we ought to obey God rather than men. If any of these above promotes sin, exalts fornication, denies God, of course don't sing it. Even if it's neutral, it's still your choice. I'm told(didn't confirm though) jehovah witnesses don't sing national anthems, i do btw. Nobody's cutting their head for it, nobody'll cut your head. Even if they do, what's wrong with been persecuted FOR righteousness?
Jude talks of 'clothes stained by the flesh', some 'gospel music' are. You should HATE them, not get used to them. In the oldT, the israelites were asking "how shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land". Many have been so blinded today by the god of this world we need to ask them from time to time "how do you manage to sing a strange song in the Lord's land/house?"

Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs are the safe benchmarks for strangers/real pilgrims. Now christians are not the only ones that are spiritual, satan has spiritual people who're involved in some occult movements, spiritism and oriental religion. The Colossians passage adds singing WITH GRACE. Grace needs reflect in the music. Your music should teach and admonish, it should minister/serve/come with a message. A song that only satisfies the flesh(your ears, feet, body) wouldn't profit much as a believer. I noticed(may be wrong i've not been everywhere o) that most times when the audience is busy throwing their body up,down, left, right during 'praise', the pastor/preacher's usually MOST reserved or not even there at all. He's putting his body UNDER. We should feed our spirits more, not our body not even our soul. satan has a lot of rhythm and blue to kill you with. He's also got numbers for the spirit like i said, but we can watch as christians, be more discerning, and let the Spirit of God guide us daily.
Christianity Etc › Re: Now That Want To Be A Christian, Should I Stop Listening To Non-gospel Music? by Image123(m): 6:40pm On Mar 05, 2011
Yes, just to point out something especially for the christians. God has not left us in the dark as regards music. BTW, music touches/influences the spirit, soul and the body. Music is also in Heaven. A good reason we should be careful with music is that the devil knows more about music than you, it's his strong point. Ezekiel tells us music was in him since the day he was created.
ThiS shouldn't be news, but i'll tell you that devil is in charge of music in our world. As is his custom, he has corrupted it. I pity 'christians' who like a song just because of the beat, the devil's drumming and you're dancing. Christians aren't controlled by what appeals to the flesh but to the spirit.
Colossians 3v16 tells us the kinds of songs we're to sing, SPIRITUAL songs. Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Ya'll better go and dust those hymn books.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do You Think You Got To See Year 2011? By Whose Grace? by Image123(m): 5:24pm On Mar 05, 2011
Yes, thanks for your patience 5solas. Like i said, i'll relate freewill to the original post again. Freewill is our own will, what we decide, of our own volition. Like Paul says in romans, "yield yourself to God". God has created us with ability to function and make decisions on our own. But His plan/desire is a relationship despite man's fall. i picture it as a doctor-patient relationship. The doctor God wants to heal and help the patient Man. Man can cooperate and get health smoothly. He may decide he doesn't need a doctor God, and remain sick and suffer. Or in some cases, the doctor may 'doctor' the event, sedate the patient and treat him. I pray God doesn't abandon us, or we abandon God like the stubborn patient.
Now, if someone says i have a doctor God who's even paid for my treatment, and then refuses to eat, or carelessly takes in poison or overdose, he may die or harm himself. If we say what will happen will happen, God has already predestined/ordained it, grace covers everything. Then we remove our doors and burglary-proof saying it's not by power or might, watchman wakes in vain. Do you think such persons will be safe for long? Such persons cannot stand when the storm comes as compared to those who watched. His actions do not glorify God and His will but frustrate God's grace.

Let the Bible speak
Hebrews 10:24-25  (NIV, ©2011)

"24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but
encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

You asked a very simple question but failed to provide the answer.
The question should have read, "Is it necessary for Christians to meet together?"
Did the early Church in the Acts of the Apostles use to meet together or not? Whether they met in a house or in a 'church' is beside the
point here. The important thing is that Christians should meet regularly in view of the above scripture (Heb.10:25)

In context, Yes, a Christian need to attend 'Church'
Ok, that's what i've been struggling to say in so many posts. True thanks

The true and living God doesn't reach you through any channel you provide but through the channel He provides. One can be sincerely wrong but wrong nonetheless. There are many sincere murderers, rapists and thieves in jail.
Notwithstanding, we must share that God is merciful and just. He has laid down laws and principles that work for(and against) all mankind if any taps into it. e.g the law of gravity, sowing and reaping, hardwork, perseverance, giving, hope, cleanliness, carefulness etc.
All these will favour anyone who practices them, and punish anyone who defaults whether christian or sinner. Most important though, the pure in heart is who'll see God so begin to make things work for you in that regard as well.

@frosbel
Ok.
That we're clear, i want to restate that grace through faith is what saves us, not doctrine. Doctrine is good nonetheless, but that my doctrine doesn't agree with your doctrine should give room for condemnation. When we get to Heaven we'll all see clearly, God is final arbiter.
The biblical reasons we have for the second coming of Christ to be in 'two phases' is what is coined as Rapture.
Rapture is a mystery, it's not common knowledge. It won't shock me or depress me if anyone fails to see it, but its there
1Corinth 15v51,52- i show you a mystery, we shall be changed in a moment. IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE, we shall be changed.
1Thessalonians4v16,17 we shall be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord IN THE AIR.
After this follows about 7years of tribulation during which the gospel will be preached and ofcourse some sinners saved/elect. Then Jesus will come ON EARTH to reign. There'll be the semi judgement you spoke of in the OP Revelation19v11-21
Christianity Etc › Re: Does A Christain Need To Attend Church by Image123(m): 3:14pm On Mar 05, 2011
The Church (Building) is a building or structure whose primary purpose is to facilitate the meeting of a church.
So where do we have problems from the above? maybe God'll flog some people for english language on judgement day. We both agree christians can meet in a place/venue/building consistently. What each calls that venue shouldn't cause migraine. One may call it house, another church, another tent, or temple, or synagogue, or tabernacle, or fellowship, etc. Even your title talks about 'attend church'. We know this location is different from christians who are the universal church. It'll be wrong of you to condemn others for calling their own location 'church' because you call your own location by another name.
Even some passages in scriptures suggest that 'church' can refer also to venues, not only people.

I find it very sickening when people who have achieved less than nothing for God begin to parade beautiful men of God as heretics. Are you omniscient? Do you have perfect knowledge of every thing? Do you have all the answers, or understand the Bible from cover to cover every verse? Scoffield may be wrong, he may be right. Let's see your own study bible or your own version and see your perfection. Discuss issues, not people.
Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 2:13pm On Mar 05, 2011
March 5 1Corinthians 5v3

For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed.

Frequently, i come across many sinners quoting scripture. I noticed that they love to quote Jesus Christ. Not everyone who quotes Jesus loves Jesus, even the devil quotes God all the time. Sinners quoting Jesus should not shackle us as children of God. Sinners love to quote "Judge not", the words of Jesus.
An hardened criminal is before the Judge pleading guilty. He is PLEADING because he doesn't want to be judged. Maybe all judges may be on the way to hell for judging, don't you think. A fornicator who has destroyed the lives and destinies of others is saying "judge not, judge not".
Thank God for people like Paul the apostle, they understand God better than us. They hear and understand the words of Jesus more comprehensively than these sinners scattered around us. Paul said 'I have judged already'. We should follow people like Paul more. When you have the Spirit of God, He gives you gifts. The Bible says "if any man does not have the Spirit of God, he is not of God". I thank God that one of the gifts of the Spirit is discernment. Discernment is having good judgement. It is picking out, distinguishing, knowing. A good Christian knows right from wrong. He knows what is spiritual from what is carnal. He distinguishes what is not of God from what is not of God. Like Paul, .He judges deeds. Jesus said by their fruits, we WILL KNOW them. Many people don't seem to believe that part of scriptures. Are you a believer today? Begin to judge from today and be cleansed from evil deeds. Amen.

will be more comprehensive later in the day perhaps. There's no disputing that believers are the church. The 'grouse' is that a place can also be called the church. Will hope to show from scriptures later. For now, consider where paul talks about women not speaking in CHURCH but at home.

It can't be said that God's perfect will is not good or not acceptable. It can't be said that any acceptable will of God is not good or not perfect. It can't be said that Indir good is not acceptable or perfect.

March 4 Proverbs 4v14

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. NIV

Most mobile accidents happen when trying to move to another lane, or when moving in another lane, a wrong lane. It may be vehicle or pedestrian, it's the same result. When a car is seeking to overtake another by moving to another lane, there might be an accident. Or when a car swerves to another lane, there might be an accident. It may swerve from the opposite lane, it may swerve from another lane in the same direction. To be safer from accidents, stay in your lane.
You know when a pedestrian comes down from his lane to another lane, or when a truck leaves its lane for a fast lane, or when an airplane leaves its lane to go on a car's lane, there might be an accident. In spiritual matters, there is a narrow lane for children of God, there is a broad lane for unbelievers. Enter not into the path of the wicked, the lane of the wicked!
Many times, believers want to do what everyone else can do. They are looking for where it is specifically in the Bible that they should not do what everyone else is doing. A believer is not everyone else ma. He is a peculiar person, peculiar. She is of royal priesthood, royalty. He is in white! He cannot sit anywhere or anyhow, like the dirty sin-stained sinner everyone.
Go not in the way of wicked men. Stay in your lane sir. The narrow lane leads to Heaven, everyone wants to go there. Be an influencer, be a model for others to follow, not a follower of evil or society. Follow Jesus. What would Jesus do?

Some people are complaining about the quality of the opposition. A sensible opponent should know when to fight and when to stand back and wait. i guess the it's an uphill task for anyone to contest against brf now because he's king, not a blind mediocre like some other governors, in the land of the blind.
It's not rocket science for intelligent politicians to figure out that brf will win the polls, so why waste resource.
Christianity Etc › Re: Can A Believer Lose Salvation? by Image123(m): 10:20am On Mar 03, 2011
i believe we often miss the context in which we say God is all knowing. i know that might sound 'shocking heresy' to you so let me explain. Like when we say God can do anything(omnipotent), we should by growth in knowledge realise, in context, that He cannot sin, die or lie. Yet He can do all things, right?
In the same vein, we need to grow in knowledge of God to undertand His omniscience more, especially in line with the whole scripture, not some creed or partial bible quoting.
