You said you're not sure of the Eden story? Man, don't just run with it o, you've got to live with it. This is necessary if you're going to get anything significant from the study of God's Word. Even Jesus Christ agrees with the Eden story and quoted it. It's when we take God's Word(the Bible) as one that we can get the right perspective.
Now you'll know from your sciences in school that we do inherit something from our ancestors. It could be a blood group, a trait, a disease, poverty, house etc. In the same way, all men/humans are counted to have been IN Adam and inherited his corruption. A similar analogy is used in Hebrews 7v9,10
9 And as I may so
say, Levi also, who receiveth
tithes, payed tithes in
Abraham. 10 For he was
yet in the loins of his
father, when Melchisedec
met him.
Levi, a great grandson of Abraham, is said to have payed tithes in Abraham, when in real time, Levi's grandfather wasn't even born! It's the way we see it o, coming to Romans 5v18
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came
upon all men to
condemnation; even so by
the righteousness of one
the free gift came upon all
men unto justification of
life.
So in summary, Adam messed up on your behalf, but there's hope in Christ.

I have a question.

Why was Jesus without sin?

Was it on account of -

- - his human nature or

- - his divine nature.

Since it is not possible for a human nature to be sinless then presumably he was without sin because of his divine nature.

Does this not presuppose that he should be perfect and beyond other human frailties - given that he was beyond the greatest human frailty- sin.

Does this not presuppose that such frailties such as the fear that seemed to besiege him in Gethsemane should equally be alien to him?

Thanks.
The Bible informs us that sin reigned to all men through Adam, the first man. God held Adam responsible for the offence seeing that he wasn't deceived. And so, every seed of man is born with sin (All have sinned). Anyone born of the flesh inherits that sinful nature. But Jesus had to be sinless for His sacrifice to be acceptable. He was not born of the seed of the man but of the woman. Genesis 3v15. What we call spermatozoa(the seed of the man) was not involved, so Christ wasn't born with a sinful nature.
But he was born of a woman, so had a divine-human nature. He could still sin, the fallen angels had no human nature but still sinned. But Jesus, in human form overcame temptationS and He is coming again for those who are overcoming. It's worthy of note that the promise of His coming in Genesis 3v15 was fulfilled about 4000 years later. One would have thought that Eve wil be alive to see her seed bruise the head of the serpent. In the same vein, as sure as you can read this post, jesus is coming soon. 2010 years is never late in His eyes, and yes, He is coming to take overcomers to His side and punish the others. The door of His mercy is open today for deepsight and for all others.

spiritually decipher indeed. Even the OP admits to wrong choice of words. Everyone seems skeptical about the true meaning of the OP, if not that he later began to clarify. There's nothing much to the post, just an attempt at being esoteric (which isn't equal to spirituality).

July 7 John 7v15
And the Jews
marveled, saying, How
knoweth this man letters,
having never learned?

Have you ever thought that
self development is also
part of what is meant to be
Christlike or godly? Jesus
developed Himself as much
as He could, followers of
Jesus should do likewise. Of
course,you'll also
remember that He(Jesus)
also listened to and asked
questions from others,so its
not self dependence or
isolation or ego, its self
development. Many
Christians behave like
invalids,they want
everything to be done for
them,by God or by their
leaders(spiritual and
political) or by others in
general.
No! There should be self/
personal development.That
takes you to the top. How
does this man know letters
having never learned. Some
people blame others,the
economy,the country, the
government, their
parents,"PHCN",for their
present condition. But do
you realise that most of
the richest men in our
country are not professors
or Ph.D holders? Some are
even illiterates,but they
took their
opportunities, made the
right decisions,developed
themselves and are very
good at what they do. Do
you know that one of
America's former vice
presidents did not finish
school, the CEOs of
Microsoft and Oracle both
dropped out of
university. It's said that 20% of
America's millionaires never
set foot in college to
study. They developed
themselves.Are you
studying in school, look
around.Some of the
brilliant people around you
develop themselves.They
go the extramile,above
what is taught in class.
You have no
excuse.Develop yourself,at
least it's Christlike.

It is unfair, to say the least, to compare Jesus or any of the apostles to the likes of the below quotes. The below is WORSE than some unregenerated minds. I'm surprised people will be blind to these because you're on the same page on tithes. That's terrible. I'm not agreed with Joagbaje on many grounds and he knows it. But that's not an excuse for insults, or not to reason with him. One person cannot be all wrong. Let's not give lives to the devil.

God tells believers to put off anger, wrath, malice, filthy communication, blasphemy. He says put on the new man, mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, MEEKNESS, longsuffering, charity, grace and such like. Believers shouldn't and cannot hold on to anger and a poisonous tongue and then turn grace into lasciviousness, claiming Jesus whipped somebody. Did Peter, or John, or Paul go on to whip people? No. Did they insult and disrespect others? They even apologised when they were perceived to have offended others.
When the Bible referred to some as fools, it is on a basis of poor decisions by the object, or on what the object truly is (e.g hypocrite, blind and co). It's not implying that the object is mentally challenged, senseless, or looking down at the object as not fit to be a human being, or of lower academic or age(quite funny) status. Let's try to be cordial at least, if we can't afford to be christlike.

but when called
what Jesus HIMSELF
called your type in His
days, you say we are full
of junk.
What was Jesus full of
when He called the
Pharisees "White washed
Sepulchres"? What was
Jesus full of when He
grabbed a whip and beat
people who had turned
the Temple into a
business center? What
was Paul full of when he
rebuked Peter?
Your problem is you
don't have a self!
Before I procras-forget, let me talk a little on the above quote and its likes. I'm saying this hoping that those who are of the above opinion can be drawn closer to God's ways and plans, and ESPECIALLY to that anyone reading may not be led into error by the type of idea above. We're called as believers to follow Christ, yet it's evident that it's not a kind of following of going to Jerusalem or Bethlehem, or dying by crucifixion. There're some ways in which Jesus is Saviour and we can't be. We can't be God in the way He is, or Judge like He is. He's not expecting us in long white robes with a red girdle. Jesus is judge but we are told to 'judge not'. God has told us to be meek, and that whosoever shall say to
his brother, Raca, shall
be in danger of the council:
but whosoever shall say,
Thou fool, shall be in
danger of hell fire, and they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Now to your solution
and why I personally
won't recommend it:
Quote from: Image123
on Yesterday at
06:05:49 PM
What is all these? Please
go seek counsel from
your pastor or older
friends or some
responsible people, not
here. What is wrong with
people? Yesterday was
just sunday.
You see, the other day I
was listening to a pastor
on telly preach on why
some people don't
receive God's blessings.
He listed two main
obstacles
(1) Not paying your tithe
(2) Insulting the man of
God.
Most Christian leaders,
unfortunately, no longer
preach holiness. They
have other fish to fry. So
I am dubious as to the
quality of advice
someone will get if she
goes to them for advice.
I adviced the OP to go to HER pastor, not A pastor OR to older and responsible people. She claims to seek sincere, honest and biblical advice. Sorry, it's safer to get such advice from people you know and regard as older and responsible than here on the internet. I believe you/one should trust his OWN pastor. It's your pastor for God's sake. If you can't trust your own pastor, na wa. Who then can you trust. Where is true love?
BTW, is it not true that SOME people may not receive God's blessings, at least if the insult the man of God? Oh common, get real.

MyJoe:
The CHRISTIAN recipe for you would be to ask God for forgiveness and believe you have been forgiven because you asked in the name of Jesus. Then get "real born again" and become, maybe, a church worker. This is not so. God is love, but He is also justice. Here is my suggestion: repent and ask God for forgiveness. Then demonstrate your repentance by protecting life and caring for the disadvantaged. Since you destroyed a life, or, to put it more accurately, denied a human soul an opportunity to experience earthly life, you need to care for and nurture life. If you think of ways to do this, I am sure you will find many. Prevent abortion whenever you can. Help children and babies in need. Care for animals. Once you resolve to do this and actually start putting your resolve into practice, you will feel light as you would have averted the judgment of God currently hanging over your head.
MyJoe, your position is clear and 'accepted'. There's little difference between the bolded 'christian view' and your suggestion. My point is give your advice if you have one and leave, no point casting stones as an hobby. One cannot be 'real born again' without demonstrating repentance. Forgiveness is not in the feeling but in the trusting.

July 6 Hebrews 6v1
1. Therefore leaving the
principles of the
doctrine of Christ, let us go
on unto perfection; not
laying again the foundation
of repentance from dead
works, and of faith toward
God,

The christian life is beautiful, a joy to the world. Yet it is a life of growth. One major characteristic of life is growth. A new born baby should grow. It would bring worry and distress if a child remains a baby after years. Growth is expected. Farmers expect their plants to grow. Much more, the Lord of the harvest expects that we grow in the eternal life which He has given us as His children. Believers have the life of God, that's what it means to be born again.
O! life can be lost, Adam lost life and we can lose life. Life is precious. It doesn't stop at being born, we need to grow. Today's passage is saying GROW. Let us go on, let's move forward. Climb up to higher ground, that's the desire here. Let us go. Don't just watch pastor going, don't just observe the 'other denomination' going. Let us go. No need for rising and falling in sin again! Perfection, perfection. Let us be perfect.
How is it that a man wants to build and keeps laying the foundation. First year foundation, second year foundation, fifth year still foundation, fifteen years and he's laying again the foundation. It's absurd but that's the way many believers live their lives, laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works. But from Today, decide. Purpose in your heart.
The principles are good but the time has come, to leave the principles of the doctrine of Christ. Leave it for the new born babes, let us go on to maturity. This is the heart cry of the Lord, COMPLETENESS, PERFECTION. Do it today. Amen.

And your own recipe is what? Do good until you feel forgiven, you have averted the judgement hanging over you. What's the difference in recipe. To be right is not compulsorily to say someone else is wrong.

July 4 Proverbs 4v14

14 Do not set foot on the
path of the wicked
or walk in the way of
evil men.
NIV

The Word of God is written to the children of God. The Word is our road map. We are pilgrims here on earth, strangers. When we begin to be so sure of ourselves, presumptous, then we become no more strangers, WHICH WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!
We have a guide, a map to follow. We do not live by bread alone but by God's Word. It is God's Word that shows us the way, the path to follow. When you're on a journey, you do not walk/enter a road simply because it is tarred road or new road. You walk a road because it leads to your destination. There are many roads in this world, many paths and ways. They look harmless, they look modern, state-of-the-art, the in-thing. But they do not lead home to Heaven.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, don't even enter! Many today are cruising in the way of evil men, they are self-willed, and full of confidence in it. O we do not have to do everything that is done in the world. We're not of the world. Let's stay on the strait and narrow way that leads home. I want to go home, don't you?
