Be ye therefore PERFECT as your Father in heaven is PERFECT. Who said that? Jesus Christ. |
Story story. You're boring. Just because you don't have an husband doesn't give you the privilege to make a married person doubt the existence of marriage, or love or what marriage entails. Don't waste my time. Believing is seeing. Thank God, I believe and I see. Which level you dey? Go and start something profitable. |
June 9 Acts9 v 5 5. And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. The Bible is very plain about the position of the church i.e the children of God. The Bible says that the church is the Body of Christ. Many times, it seems we forget that literally. The church is the Body of Christ and Christ is the Head. If we're kind and generous to the body, then we're automatically kind and generous to Christ. But if we're stringent and stingy towards the church, then we're automatically stingy and stringent towards Christ. It's become popular to hear people say, " the church (the Body of Christ) has enough already, let me give my resources to outsiders". Such a person is simply saying,'that's too much for Christ's Body, let me take care of some other Body'. It's the exact thing too when you abuse, insult, or look down on a child of God. You're doing it to Jesus. Mocking christians, saying evil concerning them, and discrediting them, all amount to persecuting Jesus Himself. That's what Jesus was telling Saul in Today's passage. It is not going to favour the ' Sauls of this world' in the end. Don't fight against God. Take it easy. It is a hard thing for you to kick against thorns. |
I should add something here in the near future, nuclearboy |
Did I just see brilliant? I'm sure you don't know the meaning of the word 'fanatic'. OP So you confirmed that you don't know God, little wonder. Well, I know Him and He told me that He's eternal, from endless ages to endless ages, and I trust Him and I love Him. And humans are not his only or first creation. His fulfilment or happiness is not centred on earth(which he formed long time before man), not to talk of man who is very young and falls short of God's standard. If you want to know God, you should talk more with people who know Him, and less with the ilk of mockers and haters, gerrit? |
Hey don't mind Tudor. He's one of those misguided youths. May God have mercy on him. Amen |
did franklin get his groove on in church? I'm persuaded that hell is going to be so hot. |
OP,these your ideas are not what makes God exist. He existed before them and will continue to exist after them. He's the Beginning and the End. It seems you have a quite foggy idea of who God is. |
What's the OP on about? The Lord's day was declared even before the revelation of 'mark of the beast' |
God sure can exist without us. What are you being if not arrogant? He's eternal. Eternal is more than millions of years ago and still counting. What is man?less than 9000years old. |
I'm wondering why anyone who give tithe must either be seen as a pastor collecting tithes helplessly for a living or a self-righteous person. I'm wondering why majority of 'anti-tithers' do not belong to any church and yet still find it excruciating that church members give tithe.anyways It'll do some good if we revisited this Abraham tithing narration. Remember, Bible students against tithing say tithing is of the law but we say Abraham gave tithes before the law. The second major arguement against tithes is that tithing must be agricultural produce, but we say Abraham gave tithes above agricultural produce. Now we're hearing Abraham gave tenth, not tithe and it's not Abraham's personal property. So whose property was it? |
nuclearboy Don't say that. It's better to say wikipedia ko, garyarnold ni. That's the correct lexis. Now there's nothing wrong with faulting your claims or faulting wikipedia, i just did that. What is wrong is that you refuse to meekly take to simple corrections(an offence you accuse others of). For e.g You just said "Abraham split the money(spoils of war) two ways. He gave a TENTH (that word, NOT tithe was used)". You said that, didn't you and I corrected that, even quoted a verse for it. Instead of taking correction, you're trying to TWIST YOUR OWN WORDS(That's magical). Is money=spoils of war? Did Abraham really give 9/10 to the king of sodom? |
@nuclearboy Sorry to 'disturb' your day, but methinks olaadegbu simply preferred to honour God's Word above wikipedia's or garyarnold. I believe the gary guy is still alive and of age to re-present his points. It's desperate to accuse someone of benefitting from the 'crash'. Also,n.b: who told you that Abraham split money? So you think money is what he got from the battle, this isn't the gulf war friend. Genesis 14v20 says Abraham gave him tithes of all. Which one are you about with TENTH not tithe, are you reading the wikiVersion of that passage? Who told you that Abraham gave 9/10 to the king of Sodom? I hope it's not HS(i wonder who that is) that is privately telling you this things? |
Every man, EVERY man gets a fair opportunity to choose life or death. Manaen had been brought up with Herod, Manaen chose life. Samuel grew up with Hophni. Hophni became a thief,Samuel became prophet, priest and judge. Jacob and Esau were much closer, they were brothers. Esau sold his birthright, Jacob followed Jehovah. Lot was closest to his wife. They were husband and wife, great background, having Sara and Abram for models. Lot became the righteous Lot, Lot's wife looked back. Cain and Abel were brothers, Cain chose murder, righteous Abel being dead yet speaketh. Moses had been brought up with Pharaoh. One became an eternal tyrant, one was the meekest man in the earth. Joseph received the same home training with Reuben. Reuben slept with his father's wife, Joseph would not touch Potiphar's. And on and on we may go. Again you've heard the gospel, what have you done with this Jesus? You have no excuse on judgement day. Repent! |
May 13 Acts 13v1 1. Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. Today's passage presents different lessons to us but we'll focus on just one part. The part is on Manaen which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch . How cogent, how solemn a lesson that we should make do of what we have. Manaen was among the prophets and teachers of God, Herod was busy with hanging John the baptist, and other such acrimonies. Cases have always been presented that believers are only Christians because of their background, or because of the availability of gospel preachers around them, or because God just wants it so. This is no excuse to remain unsaved. |

^perhaps what happened was that it had no back-up in nl server before the 'said' crash. Obviously, some pages on this thread are also inaccessible. The days of mourning are technically over, hahahaha. What's with the flooding of this thread by people who do not even go to a church or think good of such move. Methinks they're unfit to say anything as they have no clue what running a church entails. By their fruits we've seen and known them |
viaro, Ezekiel33 is not presenting an idea of salvation. The righteous in passage is already saved/righteous before God. My point is can a believer lose salvation and my answer is Yes. Whether he got salvation by faith or works, before Jesus or after Jesus is not the crux. Can he lose it after been found righteous/not wicked before God? Context is vital in this because when God makes us righteous, it still becomes 'our righteousness'(compare 2Corinthians9v10 and Matthew 5v20). Infact we are made the righteousness of God. What Ezekiel is saying in other words is that the righteous shouldn't think that his evil will go unpunished, he shouldn't rest on past records. It's the context. I'll comment on other issues later |
hmmm, it's my turn se? 5solas The salvation of any man depends on many factors but primarily on God and on him/her. We've got our part to play. We can't just take away from the words of the book.rev22v19). That scripture itself tells us that a believer can lose his salvation. The holy city for God's sake is salvation. Where are you going to if you're out of the holy city? Is that just a reward. Philippians says work out your own salvation. If we cut that out and only hold 'it is God that works', then we're in danger. I'm with the hope that we're learning and not just trying to have the last word. The backslider can be lost while still alive. Jesus spake of Judas as lost. The prodigal Son was lost. You've heard the parable of the lost sheep. Lost sheep can still repent/'re-saving' like we see the prodigal Son was re-saved |
Haha, my 'brethren' are already pulling off their shirts here. My sackcloth is not yet dirty. I'm loving the design and the government wants it on me for 7days so I'll play for peace. |
What's all this toss of 'academic' nonsense? Paul simply wrote what God needed him to write and the other writers from Moses to Mark all wrote what God needed them to write. It's all the WORD of God. Obviously, Paul was most educated compared to other apostles and was more vast. He was a vessel fit for His master's use in that capacity. When are you going to start being useful to your Master(God)? |
The question is 'who shall be able to stand?' Because, it's not a day the atheist will ignore. It's not a day the satanist can protest. No union, no activist, no organisation can stand on that day. Today, people may stand and say all sort of rubbish. Today is the day of grace and mercy. Do not wait for the great day of God's wrath before you change your ways. It's not going to be funny for sinners and unbelievers. Repent and turn to Jesus today. You can still turn today. Yes, you can. |
May 6 Revelation 6v17 17. For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Today was 'hurriedly' declared a public holiday in my dear country. I was a little amused when one of my colleagues told me that she was going to work. Work for and with who? Well, the long story is that she's back from work already this morning. It does not matter if you work for the government or not, the decisions affect you. It's an even bigger event with the great day of God. God is good, God is love, His mercies endure forever and ever but note. Please, note, there is the great day of God's wrath. That day is coming. And it is going to affect everybody. |
If the christian has the nature of God(righteousness), then it's logic that he should be sinLESS. God does not sin once in a while. The purpose Jesus came was to save us from sin, not to make us free to sin. |
@viaro Sorry I wasn't explicit when I said that if you can lose your life savings, then you can lose your salvation. My thinking in saying that, is that salvation is most precious than life savings. And if what many count as precious(life savings), and are careful about can be lost, then beware, salvation which we're often more negligent about and often commit into other(God, denomination, leaders and shepherd) hands, can be lost. Jude in warning us talks of a loss of salvation V 19. If any OF YOU do ERR FROM the truth, and one convert him. Verse 20. LET HIM KNOW, that he which converts the SINNER from the error of his way shall save a soul from DEATH, and hide a multitude of sins. MORAL LESSON:The backslider is a sinner in death who needs a 're-saving'. This is not talking about works or rewards. Blessings |
@viaro & toluxa1 I was quoting Acts 16v31 where someone asked Paul and Silas "What must I do to be saved". The answer given was that simple. Jesus said in John 3 he that believes is not condemned, he that does not believe is condemned already. Another place, Jesus says he that believes and is baptized shall be saved. Salvation can get that simple. I realise the need for growth and teaching and continuing in doctrine but this are not steps to salvation, less it become not of faith but of works. Knowing the inside-out of how to get saved doesn't necessarily translate to salvation. One may know doctrine, and regeneration, and remission, and size and color of the paschal lamb and not be saved. One can have a healthy heart without knowledge of ventricles and auricles AND vice versa. Doctrine doesn't save us, it's faith that saves. |
@toluxa1 The Word of God has literal meanings and sometimes/many times hidden meanings. Thou shall not steal is as literal as you can have it. Overspiritualising issues is one of the roots of christian backwardness and disunity. I tell you, even apostle Peter could be confused with some theology and doctrine that come up today, in the name of spirituality. No Word of God is of private interpretation. I never mentioned that Matthew 19v28 was an obstacle to me. You seem to suggest this as you don't know where to start. Romans 4v21 might be a good place to start, i learnt and posted that today on the Today's Rhema thread. |
Matthew 19v28. And Jesus said unto them, VERILY I SAY unto you, that YE which have followed me, in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, YE also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. This promise was repeated in Luke 22v30 at another occasion. Do we believe this? My original point was that Judas was among those promised a place in heaven. Heaven is for saved people, Jesus wouldn't promise them thrones in Heaven if they were unsaved. Judas was saved but he lost his place, that's the purpose why the apostle had to replace him in Acts 1. [edited]Acts 1v17 he was numbered, and had obtained v22. MUST one be ordained. v25. that he might go to HIS own place. Yes, Judas was expected to be among those to judge the 12tribes but he by transgression fell |
All Sorry for my absence. Pls, i hope not to be seen as stubborn.Ezekiel 33v11-16 is God's Word, not our thoughts. 13. When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall SURELY live, if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousness shall NOT be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it. i believe that God has not changed. Viaro, When I referred to an analogy, I had in mind the likeness between 12thrones in heaven and Judas' salvation. When Jesus says to His disciples, "VERILY I SAY UNTO you ", I don't think it symbolic. Are we saying that Jesus was talking with tongue in cheek? |
Abraham knew that God was able. Do you know that God is able? Are you persuaded, fully persuaded that God is able also to do what he has promised? God has promised eternal life, do you believe it? God has promised power and grace for us to live like sons of God, sinless, in holiness all the days of our life, do you believe this? God has promised an end of this world and eternal punishment for sinners, are you fully persuaded of these things? Or are you 'seated on the fence'? Get fully persuaded. See God's standards, requirements and promises, and get CONVINCED now. This is very righteousness! |

May 4 Romans 4v21 21. And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. Our days are days of stupendous increase in knowledge, though it's ironic that we've become more unsure of life itself. We are not sure if new research tomorrow will make nonsense of today's findings. We are not sure of our health, we are not sure of our wealth. The economy is unstable/not sure. We are not sure of what new disease might be in whose body. The unbeliever is not sure, the believer suprisingly, is not sure too. As children of Father Abraham, we want to be like him, fully persuaded. Being a Father of faith is not a title, he lived faith. He knew the God he served. |
