Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 1:53pm On Apr 11, 2010
April 11 Hebrews 11v4

4. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By faith Abel offered! What a principle, such a way, living by faith. How much we need to walk by faith. Faith shouldn't be mistaken as a lazy daydream, no. Faith presses for the prize, the fullness of reward, our passage calls it more than excellent.
Abel was said to offer a more excellent sacrifice than Cain. So Cain's sacrifice wasn't necessarily bad after all. It is not that the fruits were decayed or unripe. It's not that they weren't up to a tenth, that's not the issue. Maybe Cain even rated 80%, but thank God for Abel, Abel presented a more excellent sacrifice.

What are you expecting? Your expectation should start from now, you know? From henceforth. Don't wait till next year, or after this result or trial. From henceforth expecting. Expect a miracle, expect answers to prayers. Expect great things to achieve great things(w. Carey). Expect God's promises to be fulfilled. That is active faith.
Active faith is expectant. Expect your enemies to succumb. Sin must be defeated, it can't continue to rule over you. satan, sickness should be made your footstool. These are your primary enemies, they must come under. Expect something good from henceforth, today, for yourself and others.

April 10 Hebrews 10v13

13. From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

It has being said that what you conceive you can achieve. As he thinks in his heart, so is he. Little wonder speech makers encourage all to have positive thoughts of the future. It does work. You know, even God employs this, calling the things that be not as though they were.
Our Lord Jesus demonstrates same in today's passage, expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. Very definite. If you read through prophecy and you know God's Word to be true, you'll see that that's what eventually happens. Let us follow the Master's example. His expectation produced manifestation.

Aletheia
What's with Mark 2:5? Are you implying that Jesus only healed/worked when He saw others' faith? What's your point?
Also have you read the 2Peter text you quoted? He says when we were with him on the holy mount. I think/believe/maintain that he's refering to the Matthew17v5 incidence.
Prior to Matthew 3v17, I see that Jesus had fulfilled righteousness which is by faith, for whatever is not of faith is sin(matthew 3v15).
Hebrew 11v6 is the Word of God. It can't be subject to our manmade boundaries. It say without faith it is IMPOSSIble to please Him. The whole Bible is God's Word, not man or woman centred. On your premise, one can further say without faith it is impossible for man to please God, not woman. There's no she in the verse, no? 'For he that cometh to God must believe', not she right?
The scripture cannot be broken, stop trying to break it.
Sorry I don't know anakin skywalker. What do you know to be the meaning of trust btw?
@enigma
Take it up and then down, that God uses faith and man uses faith doesn't equate God and man.

@aletheia
On this same page/thread, I said that I think, someone replied that I shouldn't think. Now I said that I believe, and then you call it an assertion. very well then.
Still I'll maintain that Jesus used faith. I didn't quote Mark 2:5 why bring that up?
Hebrews 11v6 says without faith it is impossible to please God. Aletheia revised version says without faith it is impossible for men and women to please God. I salute o! Are you of the wou(Word of Unbelief) movement?
Matthew 3v17 says This is my beloved Son, in whom I am WELL PLEASED.
Hebrews 11v6 says WITHOUT FAITH it is IMPOSSIBLE to please Him. It takes more unbelief than faith to contradict those scriptures. Have you not read that the scriptures cannot be broken? Jesus cannot please God without faith.
Now I said God trusts/has faith in His children, I didn't say God trusts the sons of Adam. Is some mischievous demon changing my posts on your computer screens? God trusted Abraham e.g Genesis 18v19. God trusted Moses e.g Numbers 12v7. Faith is reliance, belief, conviction of truth. You just quoted that from Strong and Thayer. What more can I say.

Settle down and look before you leap. I don't get what you're on about, affirming things I never thought not to speak of type about. Jesus was holy and NEVER sinned. Breaking news. I never disputed that.
Faith is the evidence of things not seen. Faith IS NOT 'things not yet seen'. Get a grip. I believe have read more composed posts from you. I'm aware the wof movement have not being kind to you, but don't take it out on the innocent please.

If you followed my talk with JeSoul, you'll have noticed that we're saying somethings about Hebrews 11v3 of which I told her that I'll not say much on that verse, then I 're.told' her to spare/permit me from making further comments on the said verse. That's what I meant by spare me the commentaries, not some assumed phobia for strong's dictionary and co.
@Enigma
On equating man with God, I'm yet to do that. Look before you leap. Saying God has faith and man has faith doesn't on compulsion equate man with God. There are attributes which God has which man should have, it's called godliness. e.g God has love, His children should have love. This doesn't make them equal.
Christianity Etc › Re: Did God Need Faith To Create The World? by Image123(m): 7:31pm On Apr 09, 2010
Wow, where do I start, i didn't ask for a barrage of attacks. Well, lets see how much I can reply, I'm on a phone. But I believe Jesus used faith. The fact that God was well pleased with Him suggests that, because without faith it is impossible to please God. And if Jesus walked by faith, He is God. God has faith. I didn't say God hoped in Hebrews 11. Faith is the substance of hope, not hope. I'll rather relate faith with trust than with hope. Most definitely, God trusts. He trusts His children.in other words He has faith in them. Jesus had faith in to commit His spirit to God at calvary.
Hebrews 11v3 could apply both ways, but like I said, pls spare me the commentaries at least for now.

I'll not go into that verse, but at least we'll agree that faith is the evidence of things not seen, substance of things hoped for. I believe God demonstrates and demonstrated this things. The evidence of things not seen, He manifested it calling those things that are not as though they are. I think that is faith. Jesus demonstrated faith and expects us to do same. Well?
Christianity Etc › Re: Did God Need Faith To Create The World? by Image123(m): 1:44pm On Apr 09, 2010
I don't think there's anything wrong with the scriptures quoted. Hebrews 11v3 says God created the world through faith. The passages quoted above also imply the same. I don't think we should say it is wrong simply because so and so is the one saying it.

Would you keep your superfluous knowledge to yourself and not pull others to follow you with it? There are so many bold assertions today, people have 'well' read and heard, but be aware please. Do not wound others' weak consciences. Swallow your pride. Teach us in humility and not by force or coercion. You may be wrong after all.
Truth is constant, not relative. Debate is relative, don't feed on it. Having better points than the co-debater isn't a sure anchor for truth. An infidel can have 40 points and still be on the road to hell. Eternal life in Christ is more than points, do not sin so against the brethren.

April 9 1Corinthians 8v12

But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

We're living in a age of exceeding knowledge. Learning resources that were not available even compiled to the twelve disciples of Jesus are today on many phones, computers and libraries. Audio bible, video bible, cartoon bible, children bible, youth bible, marriage bible, african bible, concordance, dictionary, commentary, footnote, search engine, encyclopedia and many more.
Many now profess wisdom and yet are fools. They've left the simplicity that is in Christ. And worse of all, they don't only affect themselves but weak brethren around. The weak is PERISHING. This sin against the brethren is sin against Christ.

There are so many bold and established children of the devil on this forum. Well, there remains NO agreement/concord between a believer and an infidel. Reason all you will, if you miss Heaven, you're done for. Servants of the devil and the body, you need Jesus. Ignore the message at your peril. Be angry at the message at your damnation. The good news is that you can be free from your load of sins and pride. Repent and believe the gospel. Jesus can save you from your madness, he can save you from yourself. He says COME

Smith Wigglesworth, a great Christian leader in his time used to say "I will move the Spirit". He wasn't a passive christian. That's the attitude our Today's passage encourages. He says write them on the table of thine heart. Do you know, God promises to do exactly that for us. But here, He says 'do it', don't wait, move the Spirit, be in agreement, take the step. God will confirm it with signs following in Jesus' name.

April 8 Proverbs 7v3

3. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

The Bible says faith without works is dead. We don't want to be living on dead faith. It's ironic, isn't it? Therefore, we need to work. There are things we need to do to enter into the fulness of God's promises, will and ways.
Today's passage instructs us on somethings. He says bind them on your fingers. Tie it to yourself. Don't drop and pick up the Word at will, bind it on your fingers. Everywhere you go, go with it. It's like when you wear a watch or wedding ring. It makes a mark on you. That is what binding looks like. Let God's Word have effect on you. Don't be indifferent, not convinced.

We avoid intimacy with someone you really like by avoiding intimacy. It's that simple. Some of these things don't even need spirituality, it's just discipline. We're human beings, not animals at least not in the same level. We have innate ability to some level of control. We don't just ease ourselves where it meets us, or start handling with other people's money, property or even body just because it feels good or we're excited. These are things normal sane people can do. I'm aware that there're people who need deliverance from spirits but that's not the case here. Let's be more careful and objective so as not to be controlled by the doctrine of it feels good. Very soon, it'll feel good for me to have all your laptops for myself. And when I'm excited I'll 'release'. Sorry I'm created in the image of God, not of a dog.

It takes discipline. It's like someone who has diabetes or ulcer and He's told not to eat some things that he loves. He does it because he wants to stay alive. Go and get married if it's time for that, but before then, hold body. That's part of overcoming TEMPTATION. Ask God for grace, and then don't go into the trap, you already know the steps that take you into fornication. Don't pass that same road. Flee like my brother Joseph. Wait for your time.

There are two unchangeable things He has done. He has said, and then sworn and He cannot lie. That settles it. He will bless you. 'Surely, blessing I will bless you'. This is the Word of God. Let us lay hold on this hope set before us. Let's run with it. Let's live for it. It's an anchor of the soul. God will fulfill His promises in your life. Whatever the storm, the rain, the wind, hold on to the Rock. Your house will stand still, it will not fall. This is immutable.

18. That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.

Immutable, unchangeable, impossible. These are decisive qualities, attributes of the God we serve. We know God is omnipotent. He can do all things but he cannot lie. It is impossible for God to lie.
What a hope we have, what an assurance. What God has said, He will do. This is our strong consolation, He will bless us.

When the Bible warns christians to be sober, watchful, avoid, abstain from all appearances of evil. Christians especially baby christians wouldn't hear. Now their fingers are getting burned, others should learn. Be simply concerning evil, itks pretending to know better than paul. Self confidence results in self delusion. Jesus is coming soon

When I'm referring to pastors, I'm not referring everyone that carries a Bible and says God told him to go and start a church because he can preach. I believe the general idea/context is that it is a person who preaches in a particular building/location(possibly headquarters) every week to a particular set of people called members. Irrespective of their being real/false, Pastors Oyedepo, Kumuyi, Okonkwo, Okotie, Adeboye, Oyakhilome, Joshua and many more fall in this class as 'pastors'. I don't think Paul the apostle ministered this way, at least not as permanently as these examples.
Now, that some has a 'vocation' does not mandate it to be full time. The Bible doesn't say Jesus, or Paul, or Peter had full time secular jobs. There are pastors who have secular jobs, and some who don't, even in the same denomination. There are pastors employed full time in their churches, paid salary. Of course, one should be aware of wolves and lazy people, but the point is that there are cogent reasons why some pastors do not take up secular jobs. One can have a secular job in some local government and be more indolent and dependent than others.
Christianity Etc › Re: Jesus -carpenter, Peter -fisherman, Paul -tentmaker! Your Pastor -> Pastor? by Image123(m): 9:29am On Apr 06, 2010
Let's not assume to conclude. I don't think any of the above persons mentioned by the O.P had a full time secular job, as pastors are expected to have. Also, I don't think Paul the apostle really ministered as a 'pastor'. While laziness/indolence should not be encouraged, one also needs to be practically effective for the Work of the gospel to move forward. Talk is cheap anyway

Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, very important. You might know many other things, this one is essential. Add to your virtue this knowledge. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord. Judgement day is coming, warn yourself and warn others. Persuade your friends, relatives, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Don't doubt the terror, it will happen. Know it. Don't perish for lack of knowledge. You'll not perish in Jesus' name.

11. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

This season we celebrate the victory Christ obtained at calvary's tree. Yes, there was a battle, a fight, a combat. It was a terrible one. Christ suffered for us, paid it all gruesomely. The nail, the shame, the seperation all that the sinless lamb bore Himself. He has paid all, we all have NO excuse. Now, there is terror, eternal horror for those who will not take advantage of so great salvation. We need to know that. Let's not be ignorant.
