Tornadoz:Your chronology of events tells us more about your lack of knowledge than about the Middle East.In 1917,the British passed the Balfour Declaration committing themselves to a "National home for the Jewish people within Palestine",a full 16 years before Hitler became Chancellor and 22 years before he started his ethnic cleansing of Jews. Your ahistorical suppositions have no bearing to the issues. If Hitler's policies prompted the decision to support a Jewish state in Palestine, why was the Balfour Declaration passed as far back as 1917? Afam:Only the most warped of mindsets could justify this claim. In between the 150,000 dead in Darfur,3.7 million dead in the DRC Congo, wars in Chad,Congo Brazzaville,Casamance,Northern Uganda,Chechnya,Kashmir,Sri Lanka,Southern Sudan,e.t.c. . . .only someone who thinks that what dominates CNN news headlines constitute the only events of significance on the planet would make such a stupid comment. |
The defence was too slow, they had to defend very deep because they couldn't cope with the pace of Roma's attackers. Many of the midfielders don't drop back to protect the defence when they lose the ball.It was a very poor performance. Milan should seriously overhaul the team with the infusion of younger players. What are Cafu and Maldini doing in the starting line up? |
Lpool Arse Possession 47% 53% Shots on target 8 4 Shots off target 3 7 Corners 4 1 Fouls 17 10 That said, attempts don't make a game. This is an epiphany,I used to think the purpose of football was to outscore your opponents and that can only be achieved by goal attempts. . . .but apparently goal attempts are irrelevant I guess playing passes outside your opponent's 18 is the real point of football. |
Gunners were boasting all week about how they will come to Anfield and pick up 3 points. Now,they are celebrating a draw when the winners of each Premiership season over the past few years always win at Anfield.Even Spurs did better at Anfield. How many of you predicted a few weeks ago you would be level with United and with same goals difference?Banderas was talking about United finishing 15th How many attempts did you have on target in 93 mins of football? 3 or 4 attempts. . . .that was worse than Spurs or Olympique Marseille ![]() |
mukina2:No be una dem dash penalties pass? Match never start, dem don begin blame ref ![]() |
Thinking some people will be depressed by the end of the day Thinking there will be a reality check at Anfield this evening Thinking some people will go off YIM for one week ![]() |
debosky:The best Arsenal can get tomorrow will be a draw.Arsenal's fixture list has been incredibly favorable. However, they play 7 of their last 11 games of the year away from home.It will be after that that we can finally determine whether Arsenal will sustain a challenge. @Jackal Is Saha a United player? |
Rooney and Tevez are fantastic for United but beyond that. . .what other striking options do we have? The better that pairing is,the more agonising it feels that there are no replacements in the event of injury or a need for rest.We would have to consider playing midfielders as striker a la Roma |
Heard this guy is a GUNNER. . . .seriously A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after being caught trying to have sex with a bicycle. Robert Stewart was discovered in his room by two cleaners at the Aberley House Hostel in Ayr, south west Scotland, in October last year. On Wednesday Mr Stewart admitted to sexual breach of the peace in Ayr Sheriff Court, where depute fiscal Gail Davidson described how he had been found by the hostel workers. She said: "They knocked on the door several times and there was no reply. "They used a master key to unlock the door and they then observed the accused wearing only a white T-shirt, naked from the waist down. advertisement"The accused was holding the bike and moving his hips back and forth as if to simulate sex." Both witnesses, who were extremely shocked, notified the hotel manager, who in turn alerted the police. Mr Stewart was placed on the sex offenders’ register but his sentence was deferred until next month. He is not the first man to be convicted of a sexual offence involving an inanimate object, however. Karl Watkins, an electrician, was jailed for having sex with pavements in Redditch, Worcs, in 1993. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/26/nsex126.xml&CMP=ILC-mostviewedbox |
Arse are supposed to have 7 away games out of the remaining 11 to be played this year.It won't take too long for the dreams to start crumbling. When you end up playing 6 of ypur first 9 games at homes, little surprise it helps.Very few of their away games have been particularly impressive.Did I hear you ask about the win at Spurs, given Spurs position in the table, was it really a telling result?Apart from the victory at W.Ham,there has been little opportunity to test the Gunners away from the advantageous Emirates t that has seen them host the likes of Bolton,Sunderland and Fulham. This sunday offers the first stern test this season |
'hardly ground breaking' is a matter of opinion and perspective I-manApparently,according to Seun, the aircraft's maximum flying height is 7 feet. This would mean it hovers at just around the height of the average human being. Is building an aircraft which flys at a maximum of 7 feet commendable?Yes.Is it "ground breaking"?Obviously not.I have seen better aircrafts built by people in their late teens with relatively similar meagre resources. any 'ground-breaking' discovery by your standards can only come from the labs at Boeing, Bombardier or Airbus and the like, because they are the ones in possession of the latest/ cutting edge technology and understanding of all the dynamics of the field to achieve such. His work may not be a 'new invention' but it is commendable all the same.Ground breaking discoveries have been known to come from mere individuals, indeed, most do.The point is not whether this is a "world class" innovation, but the utility or comparative value of the product.Compared to his peers.not Boeing or Airbus, his work has been bettered by mere high school students, hardly operating in labs using cutting edge technology.I won't be surprised that the neccesary information on how to build an aircraft can be found on the internet! For a government who imports almost everything without some notion of local development, this serves as yet another pointer to the sorry state of research and development in the country. It does justify the hand wringing - it is another example of budding potentials that we are letting waste. We have a comparative advantage in importing manufactured products and selling raw commodities.Viable Research and development can't be achieved by govt fiat. Most R & D is done by the private sector. The call for Govt led solutions to these issues is misguided. They don't necessarily need to take up his idea, but is it even going to be evaluated or looked at? Will his ingenuity ever be recognised and put to good use? This is not only about 'private sector' development, even Boeing and Airbus receive huge subsidies from the US and EU respectively to support their activities, such is completely absent in Nigeria.Apparently it was evaluated and not surprisingly, nothing concrete came out of it.Boeing and Airbus receive state 'subsidies' for a wide variety of reasons. However,to the extent that one can claim they do,such 'subsidies' are relatively puny compared to the bulk of the source of funding for their R & D.Again,I stress, most technological innovations are private sector led, pointing to exceptions hardly detracts from the overall trend At the end of the day, what do you suggest the govt should do in this case?In my opinion, its not noteworthy enough to neccesitate state intervention, the "experts" came to a similar conclusion in this case from what I have read. Should the govt improve its policies in the area of science and technology?Yes,all sectors of the country have been shortchanged by the Govt in any case. How this purpotedly "7 feet maximum flying height" helicopter has any significant bearing to the larger issue beats my imagination |
I'm old enough to remember "housing for all by the year 2000" and all sorts of similar vacuous promises. We later had Vision 2010 as well. Now,its 2020.I suspect the next target will be 2030. . . . .they keep adding 10 years. |
I don't know what all the fuss is about.Has this man done anything out of the ordinary? The answer is no.There are thousands of even more efficient makeshift aircrafts built regularly around the world by all sorts of people including high school students. For God's sake, anyone who has ever watched the Discovery Channel will know this. Does every such aircraft lead to calls for state aid?Definitely not.If an aircraft is groundbreaking,it will attract private investment. The overwhelming majority of technological innovations in developed coutries are private sector funded. There is a more general case to be made about the appalling inefficiency of govt policy in respect of science and technology-lack of funding and lack of any comprehensive strategy. However, this does not justify the handwringing and emotive calls for state support every time someone,be it Izuogu or this current case-comes up with something which is hardly groundbreaking within its particular field. |
denex:Shouldn't you have checked first before condenming him as an isolated mad man? I never said he preached bestiality but he did condone sex with 9 year olds.In any case,Mohammed married a 9 year old so the Grand Mufti was not saying anything odd |
Afam:Nigeria restored peace to Liberia and Sierra Leone? You are having a laugh.Liberia's civil war only finally stopped recently after we went in back in 1990.When we went in,it was to save Samuel Doe and stop Charles Taylor, and the end of the day,Taylor still became President in 1997 and Doe was killed. Same goes for S.Leone.If not for UN troops, the rebels had pushed us back into Freetown which was the only territory our troops could set foot on.In any case, these nations were tiny nation states. The US did help restore peace to Europe and Asia defeating Nazi Germany and Japan. You can't compare that to our inability to defeat Charles Taylor or Foday Sankoh. |
denex:I quoted Sheik ibn Baaz from an Islamic website and you describe him as "Isolated madmen".Let me remind you that the Sheik was the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia.Do you know Islam better than the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia? So the man is an isolated mad man and you are more knowledgeable than him? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abd-al-Aziz_ibn_Abd-Allah_ibn_Baaz |
naijaking1:Firstly,you answer a question with a question which means you have no answer. We purpotedly signed an economic agreement with Iran.Normally, policy is determined by asking what a nation stands to gain by implementing a particular policy, not simply what a nation stands to lose.We shouldn't sign agreements simply because we can't see what we might lose,we should sign agreements because we stand to benefit from it |
Sheik ibn Baz of Saudi Arabia speaks-apparently,the Sheik is non-Muslim: Is it allowed for a father to force his daughter to marry a specific man that she does not want to mary? Neither the father nor anyone other than the father may force a woman who is under his guardianship to marry a man that she does not want to many. In fact, her permission must be sought. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "The non-virgin [without a husband] must not be married until she is consulted. A virgin must not be married until her permission is sought." They said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) how is her permission given?" He said, "By her being silent." Another narration states, "Her silence is her permission." Yet a third narration states, "A virgin's father seeks her permission and her permission is her remaining silent." The father must seek her permission if she is nine years of age or above. http://www.khalidmosque.com/en/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=96&categories=Pre-Marriage&parent_id=75#186 |
Tornadoz:Your posts are mind bogglingly stupefying. If the world's largest importer of crude oil, consumning 25% of global oil production, where to implode, how does that help oil producers? China's economic growth, nay most nations on earth, depends largely on export to the US market-20-25% of the global market. There is an old adage,if the US sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold.Anybody with the least bit of understanding of economics will know that global economic growth depends on the state of the US economy. If the US economy enters into a recession, its demand for import falls hurting both oil producers and importers alike who export to the US.Oil producers are hurt by US prolonged economic meltdown in 2 ways- -Revenue from the US market is hurt because of drop in demand -Revenue from other markets-India,China,S.Korea,e.t.c is hurt because those countries have lost substantial export income from the US which they use in paying for their oil imports. The relationship between China and the US is symbiotic, viz,China depends on investment and export revenue from the US and the US benefits from Chinese investment in US Treasury bonds. For now,China benefits far more than the US but as China continues to grow,it will be able to sustain economic growth without the US export market. That is many decades away and might not be in our lifetime. |
Jackal:I have no recovery time.I'm always raring to go like a true Red Devil.I've been busy with educational commitments.Don't mind the voyeurs at the Emirates.Hurricane Wazza will soon shut them up. |
@Jackal Remember this comment? Wanna bet, Villa will beat you guys |
Afam:Mr Irony! You can't even muster a defence of your "inbox" articles,so your sanity is returning?I doubt that. |
nwando:If the "See No Evil" fraternity produce more wind,we can loosen her grip. Its only a matter of time. davidylan:Maybe they should change the prefix from "sweet" to "stormy" wind. |
Can't the "sweet wind of change" blow her off her position already? Get Denex and Aisha2 to produce more wind |
finemocha:Na true.Thou doth protest too much |
davidylan:You are a dinosaur. In today's world, apartheid exists in the dating scene, leading to different rules for Caucasians and Negroes(wouldn't want Denex to catch me refering to 'Black' people) |
davidylan:Not if the guy is white ![]() |

To the uninitiated, this is just a rough guard to this complex conflict.) While the world looks on, Hitler beats the crap out of the Jews, the world feels there needs to be a home for the displaced Jews, a number of places are suggested including Africa, they finally settle for a place in the middle east and this sets in motion one of the longest conflict the world has ever seen.
I guess playing passes outside your opponent's 18 is the real point of football.
