toshmann:The aborigines describe their's as genocide,so what's your point. If the people at the receiving end of the so called genocide don't think its genocide, what is an Igbo man doing insisting it is genocide? Isn't it bizzare for you to cry more than the Japanese? |
ocho cinco:Having acknowledged their own actions as genocide, nothing stops them from designating Hiroshima/Nagasaki as genocide as well.If all nations who have killed people in mass numbers must keep quiet about genocide, then nobody can speak up on genocide, for almost every nation or people on earth have at one point caused mass casualties. |
toshmann:By that measure, the Allied Forces were just as guilty of genocide as the Axis Powers, moral relativism in its purest form.Never mind that the Japanese don't consider it as genocide, the very people at the receiving end of the bombs, crying more than the bereaved is an essential tool in anti-American diatribe. |
toshmann:They have described it as genocide so I can feel free to call it one.The Japanese haven't,its not so much your sympathy with the Japanese, for they don't see it as genocide, but your animosity for the US that is the issue. |
ocho cinco:Its obvious you are fully immersed in the librull piffle that dominates contemporary discourse. ![]() |
Unless we see the residents of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as a racial, ethnic, national or political group,I fail to see how the bombings of the 2 cities constitutes genocide. No,it is not genocide,I ,like the Japanese Parliament,do not see the bombings as acts of genocide.Unlike you,I do not cry more than the bereaved. |
toshmann:Since the Japanese Parliament doesn't see it as genocide but an unfortunate consequence of war,I as a Nigerian cannot cry more than the bereaved. I don't see what Hiroshima/Nagasaki has to do with the shocking failure of Turkey to acknowledge the genocide of over 1 million Armenians. Its not just that it happened but that the Turks ignore it.Imagine if the Western world denies that the Trans-Atlantic slave trade took place. What is more appalling than for a people to be massacred and for the perpetrators refuse to acknowledge it? |
@Toshman Simple question.Has the Japanese Parliament ever referred to Hiroshima and Nagasaki as genocide? |
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article2641064.ece From The Times archives: 'the Armenian massacres' How The Times reported the story on Friday October 8, 1915 |
denex:If dey make mistake for your exam question paper, you go leave am like dat?Immediately I see the topic,I sabi say im no go be true. You don already begin blame Westerners for the mistake Na so you dey get carry overs for school |
Wars in Africa wipe out aid gainsNa so una dey fail exams.$300 bn over a 15 year period.Denex, take note.Na why your carry over for school dey too much ![]() |
@Debosky Talk true, you don't actually watch the Serie A cos if you did,you will know there was a big difference between Kaka's performances at the UCL and his performances in Serie A.I remember back in 2005,Jamie Carragher was oustanding in the UCL but ordinary in the Premiership. If defenders were given "Footballer of the Year" Awards,by your metric,Jamie should have been in contention based on his performances in the UCL alone, ignoring his mediocre performances in the League. Ronaldo was no flash in the pan,he was outstanding at the World Cup prior to that season. He did throw up a stinker in the Semis but he was brilliant right up to the Q/F against Roma.If you put together his performances in the Premiership,UCL and FA Cup,you see a greater level of consistency than Kaka had throughout last season. |
naijaking1:We have been through this debate before. What claims did the Bush Adminstration make about Iraq that the Clinton Adminstration didn't make? PS:Did you guys hear Ramzi Yousef now claims to be a Christian? http://www.drudgereport.com/flash6.htm |
@naijaking That someone might be influenced by an ideology doesn't necessarily mean he subscribes to it.Dick Cheney,Bush,Rumsfeld and Rice are all traditional conservatives.Wolfowitz,Scooter Libby,Douglas Feith and Robert Pearle are neo-cons. Cheney doesn't subscribe to the neo-con philosophy. There is nothing inherently wrong in neo-conservatism,the accusation is that it is too idealistic and divorced from reality.Neo-cons think America should promote democracy in the Middle-East,by force if neccesary.Traditional conservatives think US military might should be used to pursue US national interests even if such interests mean promoting friendly dictatorships. That is the difference between Cheney and Wolfowitz. |
oyb:What if Dan Fodio Jihadists hadn't seized Ilorin. . . . would Oyb's perspective be different? ![]() |
@Uche2Nna The question is,whether those socio-economic factors are unique to Northern Nigeria. It will be lazy to say that there is one single factor,be it Islam or deprivation,I tend to think there is an interplay between both of them. There are a multitude of causes but I do believe that where violence is started over Mohammed Cartoons, maybe, just maybe, such violence might have Islam as one of its main causes. You may disagree but this is how I see it |
naijaking1:Stop trying to hide your ignorance. So all students of the said Professor are neo-conservatives? Neither Cheney or Rumsfeld are even neo-conservatives.Only Wolfowitz fits that description. Make una no dey use terms una no understand. PS:A neo-con is someone who is leftist in general but hawkish or right-wing in foreign policy. |
oyb:So its non-Muslims like "Davidylan and co" who "stir up" Muslim violence? I guess if Muslims kill Christians, its the non-Muslims that stirred them up. Here is what I ask you,Oyb,why don't you target your righteous indignation towards the people that are carrying out the violence instead of blaming non-Muslims? |
Uche2nna:You mean FSU is not Igbo?I don't think he was the one that put the "Lol" prefix. Are saying that insurance products from IGI can be called "Yoruba insurance"? |
Violence on religious minorities is not a unique phenomenon to Northern Nigeria so it can't be validly claimed that this is an isolated event whose root causes can be confined to socio-economic factors in the North. We have similar violence in many parts of the world-Sudan,Algeria,Egypt,Indonesia,Iraq,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Turkey.e.t.c Oyb can adduce all the straw man argument he likes but the fact remains that there is an inherently violent element to Islam, more so than any other religion, which prompts certain susceptible people to violence. |
babasin:Does the US deny the slave trade?Turkey continues to reject calls to acknowledge the genocide |
@Nwando I dey suspect am before but im try well well to hide am But don't you think tribalism dey too much for Igbos of young generation? ;DWhich one be Igbo jeep,Igbo fan,Igbo Zinox PC? ![]() |
naijaking1:Dick Cheney is not even a neo-con,there should be a ban on people brandishing terms they don't understand How do you know a military strike is devilish and poorly planned when you lack details about it? Absence of facts doesn't seem to deter people from drawing conclusions. |
I have always suspected Ferlie to be a Senator |
I guess Denex will be torn by too conflicting factors. On the one hand Bush is against this measure,on the other the Turks are Muslims.I don't think he knew Bush is against it ![]() ocho cinco:Wow. . . .he even thinks they are rock stars Bloody librulls! |
ocho cinco:See this leftist Moonbat Probably thinks Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore are demi-gods ![]() |
oyb:You are full of Islam. . . and that is even worse. No go wound person o,this one u dey vex like stereotypical Mahometan @ocho cinco Touche!French this time And about authoritarianism. Perhaps a poor choice but for want of a better word I guess.Supremacism will be apt-the suggestion that our way is the only way-is the major defect of the 2 main monotheistic religions,Islam and Christianity. However,on balance, our ancestral religions lack more than most of the major religions. |
If I knew it was Militia I was debating. . won't have bothered.Almondjoy/Militia is the antithesis of reason. If this was an Okotiabo thread,I would value her judgement. ![]() No wonder. . . . .Da Vinci Code,Rev King, fornication,"we are one".e.t.c @oyb The issue is not the mere prescence of instances of intolerance and supremacism in other religions but the prevasiveness of violence in Islam compared to other religions, especially in the contemporary world Why is they so much discussion about these totalitarian religions that originate from the bullying Arabic and Caucasoid race.I warned about using terms that are ultimately meaningless. If Christianity was actually totalitarian, democracies wouldn't have evolved in many Christian countries. Thanks for that bit of disinformation about Christianity originating from Whites. . . . . didn't know Middle-Eastern Jews were Caucasians. Christianity through sheer financial and tactical muscle and Islam through petulance and childishness have trod upon much more tolerant religions around the world.Every single ideology, including Communism(resoundingly atheist),Buddhism and Judaism, has, when the opportunity allowed, been used to trod upon other beliefs.Mao and Stalin(2 atheists) collectively killed 40 million people in the 20th century. Having said that,we cannot abandon our belief systems. We can only acknowledge the defects and try to resolve them. This is where the defects in Islam come in. . .you cannot have a reformation of Islam unless defects within it are acknowledged.Simply wielding tu quoque arguments are pointless Remember when two elephants fight, it is the grass beneath their feet that suffers. In fact, the grass simply vanishes!Again, verbosity is no substitute for reason. There are greater merits in other religions-Buddhism,Christianity,Hinduism,Judaism.e.t.c- than Islam. To point that out isn't to perpetuate the "authoritarianism" of Christianity. Thus I beg of you let us pay more attention to our ancestral religions, that have been demonised by these foreign invaders and infidels. Here you go trumpetinging the merits of a particular belief system. . . . which system historically perpetuated misogyny,injustice,slavery,barbarism.e.t.c |
johston:Mohadana,this thing na curse o ![]() |
This is a convenient way of telling us that the car project was flawed and mainly mere hype |
@almondjoy Your posts always reek of illogic."Bad" Muslims, like "bad" Christians do all you mentioned-corruption,armed robbery,sex-attack,fornication.e.t.c but there is an additional element-they also kill people in the name of religion on a much grander scale than non-Muslims. Supposing someone told you that White supremacists are violent, would it be valid to point out that non-Whites can also be violent? |

) and now we are being accused of being tribalistic.
