Yeah? Hulk Hogan. It is on the poor and defenseless that you show your power, but bow to the rich and powerful. What has the Nigerian or state governments done to tackle the rich? Are they immune from illegal acts? Why is it that anytime govt acts tough it's on the poor and helpless? Why do the police salute the rich but harass the poor? You are truly a product of that warped society that worships wealth and holds the poor in contempt.
Sorry if I stepped on a nerve there......dint see it exposed.
Police 'respect' the rich ALL over the world. Just pray you're up there too.
Its a weak mans idea that things should be done with sentimenets 'because they're poor'.

SELFWORTH: Either way, give them time to pack thier belongings. We are accountable to God in all that we do.

Demolishing without care for them or thier property is not what I would call good governance . It's only in Nigeria that people will agree that its ok becos the victims are poor.
Mr Man....leave God out of it.
The houses demolished in Abuja some months ago were bought by the rich with millions of naira....they ranted the same way. The issue of time to pack their belongin is overflogged.
You're living in someones uncompleted building & told to move out & you're still talking of time. Being poor isn't a reason to break the law & sentiments don't make a good leader.
Your type make the worst leader actually though....we're familiar with your type
And you think a yung graduate who just got admission to go do his masters in sweden knew all dt & left his whole documents @ home for the demolition crew right? Cut those guys some slack men.
The part you're missing is the average nigerians mentality to change. We hardly believe the govt would work. Where would he pack the certificate to if given quit notice? He would rather believe its one of those tales and go about his normal business hoping it would just disappear. For how long did you hear about the intended closure of Ladipo? And what happened eventually?
Let's be rational about these things....someone somewhere must have known these was going to happen & if you dig deep enough...they would all know but just sit in with the typical Naija mentality hoping against all hope that it won't see the light of the day & then turn around when the sh**t hits the fan claiming to have lost a Fabrege egg in the demolition & the C of O of their plot in Banana island.
And the truth is the truth...there are too many people suffering under the guise of living the 'city life' and resisting the help and deliverance from poverty. Theydont need to go back to their state or any village(some of them might even be Lagosian)...they just need to find a smaller town or village where palm oil are made directly from palm trees and people make soup with ingredients from their backyards and canned foods sounds like Alladins tale. And where they can improve their life and the country and even impact on the whole world just by exchanging air with trees and natures & all that shyte***
Since when? Quit telling me about Republican-Democrat politics. Democrats have won 5 of the last 6 presidential elections. Bush's win in 2000 was inspite of losing the popular vote, and to this day majority of Americans still think he shouldn't have been president. The popularity of the republican party is at an all time low.
Let me be clear, there is nothing wrong with wanting a more humane place for these guys. Nothing wrong! Where it is wrong and indefensible is leveling their shanties without prior notice, and without providing alternatives for them or compensating those who had to lived there cos they were chased out of the national theater area originally. The feds got the place and moved them there. What do they do now? No government in the western world, no matter how noble their intent would do that to its citizens. NONE. Why? It is indefensible.
These shacks can hardly house my dog not to talk of a human being.
Dint see any of the "indigenes" coming out to tell us that they're the original landowners...all I'm hearing is quit notice & all sorts like they dint have any inkling that this was going to happen.
Govt doesn't just wake up one day & decide to level a place but trust Nigerians...they'll keep hoping its just a tale until the reality actually kicks in and they'll now be talking of human rights & all.
Council houses in the places you mentioned go hand in hand with unemployment benefits and was started over 100 years ago initially by the FED GOVT and later taken over by the district councils.
There are over 36 states in Nigeria. Not everyone can live in Lagos or a state capital. They'll still have to make way eventually for development and someone can't sit down in his house in Osogbo & be talking about human rights in Lagos slums where there are no laws to start with.
The only way a positive change will be made in Lagos is thru an iron hand.
The closing down of Ladipo is an example....the traders are more interested in how much they're losing than in cleaning up the place to make it habitable. And we will still e comparing ourselves to the whites smh
What you have written here is complete nonsense. I am sure you were one of the people campaigning against the removal of fuel subsidy because that one affects you. This one doesn't, so they can all go and burn in hell. After all, are they not poor people?

You are exactly the replica of the republican party here in the US. They only cater to the rich and powerful in society. The poor can go rot in hell as far as they are concerned. But the US also owes its greatness today to it's generosity on the not so powerful in the 1950s. They gave scholarships to all who fought in world war II so they can attend college. They set up medicare and social security so that people don't have to live out they old ages in abject poverty. That was how they built their middle class starting in the 50s. Right now most industrialized countries have free health care for both rich and poor. That is how countries develop - by catering to the poor. Cos once you are able to lift them out of poverty, the larger society is better for it. You wise men fail comprehend this immutable truth. Shame on you.
But the republicans you are quoting have produced more Presidents in the US than the democrats and I'm talking about more than double the number of democrat President.
Nigerians always prefer status quo. People like you would prefer things to remain the way it is till there's a big hurricane that takes away half of Lagos & you'll now tackle the slum.
There are West London & East London.....you'll definitely know where you should belong whne you check your wallet. The issue of council house & all comes into play with time AFTER we clear all these slums.
You can build a shanty illegaly & then turn around & be talking about not being served notice when you know you shouldn't even be there initially. And some peeps are even talking about compensation.smh. The issue of the land being the Fed Govts land is someone overnight dream I'm sure.

Don't understand where coogar is coming from. There's no Nigerian mentality involved in all these.
There's more to it than is being bandied around.
Is being paranoid an excuse for murder? He KILLED someone for crying out loud. Unless he's being comittted to a mental facility, then he should at least be tried for manslaughter.
And his career will definitely take a serious blow or hit or whatever you want to call him. Doubt any reasonable company will touch him even with a long stick for any endorsement or adverts. He should ask OJ Simpson what happened and OJ did not even admit that he killed his wife and the court found him not guilty.
A man accused of being a child molester is never free from the accusation and parents will still have a second thought about leaving their daughters with such.
The single most impt fact is not the empty urine or the paranoia but the fact that he had a "loved" one at home in his bed abd that should have been where his heart should have gone to. I thought he would be trying to defend his gf and not shooting blindly around 4, four IV times at a noise in the bathroom.
That wasn't a defensive shot nau cos he dint even see what he was shooting at.
Coogars reasoning is funny at its best to me

nwawuweneonye: Nairaland!most of us have not driven any of the 3 brands yet we comment. Again,we are good at ssupportng the last speaker. Wheen u hear of German Machne,d first thing that comes to mind is mercedes benz. I've driven all 3 brands but nt necessarily mine. I onw a MB 240 Kompressor. Are u talking abt speed, stability durability, turbo charge, respect, class, general performance?even b4 I bought this recent kompressor,I had driven a mercedes benz 190 with a 6 cylinder engine, factory fitted ac,leather seat n padded. A 2008 Toyota Camry couldn't complete with me along the Asaba Benin dual carriage way not to talk of the Kompressor. Have u ever wondered why most government officials around the word both d ones we see in foreign movies uses mercedes benz instead of the BMW n others. BM no doubt is yet another machine.
Have you ever wondered why James Bond uses BMW & Aston instead of Benz?Have you ever wondered why Jason Stathan always drives a BMW or an Audi?
Benz is stately and always appeal to the older generation....the S class wasn't made for the youth even the sportier glk dint even make the mark while BMW attracts the upwardly mobile & the young exec.
Reason the 3 series is the best selling bmw brand and the Benz S class is the best selling luxury brand.

Don't see any reason why a child of that age should be flogged for whatever reason.
We're talking about a 12 year old child here not an 18 or 26 year old man. The best would have been to send the child back home & tell her to call her parents.
What's the childs fault in the whole saga when its obvious that its the parents that will most likely dress for her. I'm a Christian but that's taking intolerance to a whole new level.
The issue of the schools rule should not even come up here....suspension or someething like that is acceptable than floggin when its not even a criminal offence & in an underage at that

Wondering where some people got the idea that there will be no jail term because there was no intent. You need just a murder weapon, evidence that a murder has been committed(which is the dead body) and intent and the intent is the weakest defence link cos the reason for half of the murders committed even in developed countries is not even known.
And the prosecution will definitely push for first degree / premeditated murder. You can push for manslaughter when you shot someone four times with a gun you're not even supposed to have and you claimed there was no initial argument. If he said there was a row or an argument he could have said it was in the heat of the moment but he said no such thing.
I think he's guilty personally though I'm not infallible.

The quote is definitely for the highest(average) to expect.
And someone here is quoting $3,000 here for a community hospital as if that's where everyone loves to deliver.
The bill for a hotel in Abuja would hang around 30 - 50k and it would be wrong to be quoting 10k though you'll probably get some hotels in that vicinity.
Lagos was rated as one of the most expensive places to live in the world and an expatriate there would probably spend around 100k per day if you are lodged in a good hotel and eat good food but I'm sure some locals would claim its an over inflated price as you could lodge in swetson hotel in ikorodu for 5k & eat in Mr Biggs for 1k but that's not what is expected from an expatriate.
A foreigner coming down to US is assumed to be a rich man and thus would go to the best and not a community hospital.
We should read between the lines

Been reading some funny comments about the Pharmacists. They should be charged for profeesional misconduct & violation of proffesional ethics by their professional bodies and for criminal conduct by the police.
Its like buying Misoprostol over the counter(which most people do) and then giving it to a lady who now dies from the complication of abortion......everyone knows the misoprostol is probably going to be used for abortion and not for ulcer. Rophynol is widely used for date rape & selling such without the utmost precaution taken is definitely dangerous.

This kind of threads will keep making the frontpage cos I think that's what makes the day for the moderators these days.
Its either a thread on why Pastors are rich or one ignoramus hidingunder the banner of ignorance to ask questions about how much he should drop for his tithe knowing that ilks like him would hijack the thread & change it to stuff about how the Pastors ride horses & aeroplanes.
And the only thread that will come to the front page on "the other religion" is one about the sterling qualities of a good ******** and some really funny things that beg the issues
Someone asking if he should pay tithe isn't a christian in the first place cos you don't need people to tell you to pay or not unless you don't know why u are paying but such threads will always move to the frontpage same way this comment might be deleted

PoliticsRe: Only Lagos Can Survive Without Oil – Fashola by infolekan(m): 5:58am On Jan 19, 2013
Oil itself is a bane of the nigerian economy..a lot of postulations on how nigeria will not survive without oil & people aren't trying look beyond their nose at other nations without oil. Gambling & hotels used to be one of the mainstay of Las Vegas & it will be fool hardy for someone to say that they'll shut down if not for the oil sheiks & chinese businessmen that come with their money bags.
No one really asks what the Niger Delta govs do with their huge federal allocation...money from the NDDC & the Ministry of Niger delta.
People make money from some place & take it to places where it can be well spent...& that place is Lagos.
You can't expect that because I make money from a village I must stay there to spend money there.
The federal presence in Lagos really did help in the devt of Lagos but oil wasn't a factor(not even a weak one) in the devt of Lagos.....And Lagos or Nigeria can't be compared to any state or country in Africa. The population of nigeria one is enough to make any business thrive
And for those shouting oil oil oil....check the 10 richest men in the men & get back to me if you see anything about oil there...and you can still go further.
The only place where they shout about oil is cause of the corruption at the federal level. Places like Switzerland are known for their banking industries...Norway & even SA here don't have it.
The average Niger delta man is a lazy man(sorry to use that word) who sits down & beleives that he's being cheated & the nation will not survive without him or his oil forgetting thatpeople & nations will survive with or without the oil as others have.
Lagos is far more than oil or Fed. The population alone will make any business thrive & even the security that you won't get in the Niger Delta or the North

I've realised that most stuff on NL these days are things that will consistently damage the church of God drawing out so called 'christians' who are always quick to use their worldly wisdom to condemn and attack men of God.
They'll usually come with statements like "I'm a christian but...." And will abuse any man who's only mistake is to Pastor a church
There's hardly any event in the world where people are gathered that a security or a protocol team won't be.....and its even more impt in the house of God when we consider the number of hate messages on even a faceless peaceful social site like NL.
Religious comments have the highest number of comments and sensible threads like what our Gov or the President should be doing doesn't generate such comments as half the retards posting here have not the faintest idea on what to do but religion is something they find an easy target.
Complain about the wealth of the church when they aren't contributing there.....it shouldn't be your business what's done with the tithe of the church as long as you're not paying. Those paying aren't complaing & those complaing are sure as hell aren't paying.
NB: Sorry for derailing the thread a lil bit.

Ola one: You are right but doctors in Naija are not happy! They are poor
And which profession will you get the rich in Nigeria from?
The average lawyer in a well established firm is paid less than 100k in Nigeria(emphasis is on the average)
An average engineer out of school is in another line looking for another job(half of my engineering friends are in banks)
When you hear us complaining....we are looking at what obtains in other countries to what obtains here nd we're not comparing ourselves to other professions here.
An average doctor in nigeria earns above 190k and those in the private pratice will still not earn less than 120k.
Happiness is individualised and an average Nigeria isn't happy(talk about electricity, bad roads and insecurity)

Car TalkCost Of Engine & Gearbox For A 2007 Toyota Camry by infolekan(op): 7:41am On Jan 05, 2013
Hello nairalanders....
Recently had the gearbox on my 2007 toyota camry SE V6 changed at acost of over 400k for the gearbox alone about 2 months and recently noticed a jerking sound whenever the gear is changing from the 2 to 3. I took it to the mechaninc who had the engine seat changed & the sound got considerably reduced but it was still there. Now the car doesn't move as much as it does before & the diagnosis done shows that the plug coils A,B & D are faulty. The jerking has got so bad that I can hardly move the car again and when I'm decelerating at a high speed.....the car slows down like the engine is holding it down before the gear changes down.
Please I need help as I'm out of my wits end and need advise on what could be wrong. The mechanic is saying its a minor thing & he only needs to adjust some settings there.
I would also need help on how much a 2007 camry SE V6 engine with transmission box would cost.

Christ came to reddem us from the law itself. A son will always aspire to be greater than his father & that's is always the fathers wish.
I'm always wondering the reason why the MOG are always being targeted when the people stealing ur money are there in govt year in year out & we don't open up threads condemning them.
The Pastors have never collected money from anyone with a gun & the people paying the tithes aren't complaing.
Its the jobless that don't even pay that are complaining about money that they never even contributed in the first place quoting bible passages that they will never read to understand & translationg spiritual words literarily & supplying unsolicited ideas on how money that they dint earn should be spent.
