Sir, perhaps you could expound on this with the new rates. Have you cleared any vehicles in 2014? Give examples of the new rate in action - what rates have you paid for the vehicles cleared in 2014? Thanks. |
BizBooks: 1. The ban appears to be the brain-child of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. But GEJ himselfBizBooks - Not sure why you refer to it as a "ban". I sympathize that it may affect your business, but really Used cars are not in any way banned by the new rule, it just makes it more expensive to import a used or new car into Nigeria. I am not going to debate the logic behind the measure, because frankly I could argue a million ways for AND against! However, while the effective increase feels punitive, especially without a graduated implementation (small by small increase), I do hope that the end result is an improvement in the quality of vehicles being imported to Nigeria! All the junked and salvaged vehicles that end up on our shores are dangerous and frankly I am not sad to see the last of them! A number of other countries have incredibly high customs duty rates also. |

Perhaps you all did not read the news article properly. This has nothing to do with the BMW enquiry! This is a hearing as to the cause of recent air disasters. It has simply been deferred to the appropriate committee for action. |
bran1: What I wrote is verifiable to only interested persons, moreover no one will force you to part with money until you are convinced as an investor.Clearly, you are missing the point, Sir. I am not interested in your "investment". I am BOTH a licensed real estate broker and an Attorney in the US, and I know the ins and outs of the EB-5 program. It has NEVER been applicable to residential real estate investments alone. There are strict requirements, as previously posted by Omunuan in this thread, that render your claim bravado at best, and misleading at worst! If what you claim is based on verifiable facts, such facts should be legitimate matters of public knowledge and no secrecy should be required. Nonetheless, you have a right to claim what you wish, same as I have a right to debunk your claims. CAVEAT EMPTOR! BUYER BEWARE!! |
bran1: It is called the EB-5 VISA immigration program. The Texas Redevelopment Authority, assists foreign high net worth individuals to take advantage of the investment for green card (EB-5 VISA) immigration program.BULLCRAP, with all due respect! You clearly do not know what you are talking about. Your post seems purely set to deceive people into buying homes. The law to which you refer does not take real estate investments such as home purchases into consideration! If that were the case, many Latinos, Asians and Russians who are heavily invested in real estate would have green cards. I am, however, willing to give you the benefit of doubt. Why don't you post the names of 3 out of the 50 reference clients on this forum, I'll call up my ICE contact and have their papers verified and post the results here. Can you do that? |
bran1: Can you invest $500,000(N81m) to $1m in property in USA. This investment qualifies you for a green card, besides a sky-high returns on your investment. Please quote the area of US Immigration law where it specifically states that one qualifies for a green card with investment in property. If you are unable to do so, then please take down this post and stop misinforming the general public! |
spyder880: Sorry but I did not entirely get the question, you know that even sand filled foundations eventually get poured with concrete?Yes Sir, I am aware. However, I am accustomed to a solid concrete foundation, even though compacted sand and / clay are a good alternative depending on the water table. In the US, sand is avoided, especially where there are moisture barrier issues. I am simply trying to figure out how much more, in your opinion, it would cost to use only poured concrete? Thanks! |
gbanikiti: Seriously? Didn't you hear the reasons why he showed up late? He's still better than Ifeanyi Ubah and nwonye who didn't show up at all!His reasons are irrelevant. Simply damage control. Show up late for a nationally televised debate? It is not done! Ubah is a joke anyway. |
Senator Ngige showed up almost 30 minutes late for a nationally televised debate! If it was a job interview, I would have shown him the door! I don't know about you all, but to me that is disorganized, at best, incredibly disrespectful at worst! Either way it is unacceptable, under any circumstance, from a Chief Executive candidate. SMH. |
Great job, Sir! I have quietly followed a few of your projects. I am curious, what would it cost to have a poured concrete foundation for a project of this size, rather than sand filled? I would like to understand the comparative difference. Thanks in advance. |
mojeer678: So my dear indignant friend, Nigerian law does not know or recognise 'common law marriage, contracted primarily by cohabitation', which with all due respect, is plain rubbish! Maybe it's you who wasted good education by not paying enough attention in Family Law class, if at all you ever attended any. This is the problem with theoretical baby lawyers being pushed out by the thousands! Sir / madam, walk the hallowed halls of courts of law in various states, and then lets have a discussion on the topic of common law marriages as PRACTISED, not what you remember from your well highlighted textbooks! Class dismissed. |
write2obi: So when a woman lives and have kids with a man, they are now Married "under common law"Don't waste time pitying Utumunta's parents, focus on pitying YOUR OWN parents for your wasted education. Yes, Nigeria does in fact recognize Common Law marriage, contracted primarily by cohabitation! It is bad enough that you are ignorant and refuse to let yourself be educated by people who know better, but you have the audacity to be insulting in your state of ignorance too? Thats unacceptable! |
geeez: The fact that someone lives in your house and bears your kids doesn't mean that she is legally married to you@ geeez: Your understanding of the law is best left to misogynistic market talk. Nigeria recognizes 1. Statutory marriages under the Marriage Act; 2. Islamic Marriages; 3. Customary Law marriages; and Yes, even 4. Common law marriage (co-habitation). If Bianca needs to show a marriage certificate to prove that your aboki is not the father of her children, then I could also well say that YOU need to show a marriage certificate for your grand father and grand mother, otherwise you are the offspring of my grand father's houseboy! But I am too polite for that. |

sheyai: What exactly r we calling 4? Have they arrived? Why waste your time trying to be a smart Alec? As the post clearly states - call to indicate interest. It is not a prerequisite, it is an optional mode of communicating interest for others who may be interested. If you are not interested, MOVE ON. Quite simple, really. Thank you, Sir. |
more interested parties? Please call 0809 808 6622. Thanks! |
This is what I find interesting: Not to be condescending, but practically EVERYONE commenting in this thread who actually read books, comprehended the reading and remembers what they read, writes and communicates pretty darned well. Well thought out sentences, grammatically sound construction, with good spelling. Compare with most other threads on NL with "scatta scatta" English, status updates on FB or Twitter, email messages and even memos at work written by Nigerians with multiple fancy sounding degrees! It may seem simplistic, but perhaps the true solution to Nigeria's failing education system lies primarily in reading literacy - go back to the fundamentals! Encourage early reading, fund libraries, restock libraries, promote reading contests etc! Just saying... |
Soon as the BoL arrives, the VIN will be posted, Sir. Thanks for your interest. |
