Following the sudden retirement of the Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, it was widely reported that General Overseers of other churches who have been in the saddle for more than 20 years would have to step down. The move by the RCCG’s pastor comes in line with the Financial Regulations Council, FRC’s regulation which stipulates that heads of all registered churches, mosques and civil society should not exceed the 20 years mark in office. Subsequently, the founder and General Overseer of Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has said he was not going to retire and would remain in charge of the church as he has been for the past 35 years. According to him, no authority or law can frustrate his apostolic calling. “If you heard or saw anything in the newspapers or anywhere that the G.O has retired, it’s a lie of the devil. In our spiritual family tree we don’t retire. Someone asked Kenneth Copeland ” are you stepping down”, he replied, ‘no I’m stepping up’. Copeland ministered for 6 hrs straight at 80 yrs of age.” Men and brethren settle down and enjoy my being here. I’m going to be here for a very long time. I spoke to my father in the Lord ( Pastor Adeboye ) in person and he said let them enjoy the confusion for a moment’. I believe in the covenant of 120yrs. I can preach for 10 services now and that proves I have many more years before I go. If you hear anything, it’s illegal and not passed into law. I’m not serving or earning anything from any body or government. No government can determine the constitution of the church and they know. I was called by God into the prophetic in 1981 and the apostolic ministry in 1992. No authority or law can frustrate an apostolic calling if it’s from God. Forget my height oo. All the demons in Nigeria know who’s who. Just relax.” https://informationengine./2017/01/11/see-what-bishop-oyedepo-speaks-on-his-retirement-after-adeboye-stepped-down/ |
Speaking in details to a Punch correspondent on the condition of anonymity, some officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have threatened to collect bribes the same way policemen extort money from motorists if they are not paid their November salaries and allowances before Christmas. The officials who revealed that the Federal Government had refused to offer any explanation for the non-payment, said further that this was unfortunate, because they had been asked to work during the holidays as part of the ‘ember months’ campaign. An official, who identified himself only as Patrick, said the government had no excuse for withholding salaries since the FRSC is a revenue-generating agency. He said, “The government is being very unfair to us. Christmas is next Sunday and many of us who are male officials have been asked to remain on the roads to ensure that the roads are safe. “How can the agency ask me to spend Christmas on the road and at the same time deprive me of my salary? “They should not turn corps officials into policemen because that is what will happen if we are not paid.” Also speaking, a female FRSC official, who is a single mother, stated the non-payment of salaries had affected her, as she had not been able to do any shopping for her children. She said, “Everyone knows that the prices of goods increase during Christmas and that is why most people try to do their shopping early December. It is bad enough that we are witnessing a recession but the government should not worsen our condition by withholding our pay. “What will I feed my children this Christmas? Where will I get the money to take them out to have fun? They cannot tell us not to extort money from motorists and at the same time deprive us of our salaries. It is unfair.” Another official, who identified himself only as Abiodun, revealed that in the last five months, corps officials had been receiving salaries on the seventh day of the following month, adding that the agency and the government had failed to explain to officials why things had gone bad. Abiodun said, “There have always been bad eggs in the agency, but the fact that most officials are well paid sort of reduced the number of bad eggs. “However, now that salaries are not being paid, the government seems to be giving officials the ‘green light’ to indulge in corrupt practices. You cannot flog me and ask me not to cry.” http://talkgeria.com/topic/pay-us-now-or-well-start-taking-bribes-like-policemen-frsc-officials-threaten-fg/ |
Will ex- Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, be fourth time fortunate? This is a question that is currently begging for an answer, as the Turakin of Adamawa, launches his 2019 ambition fully force. For Atiku, who just turned 70 years lately, the battle for 2019 which will be his fourth time, might be the charm to ascend to that enviable position exactly like President Muhammadu Buhari, who contested, and won after the 4th time. In an explosive post by Atiku’s media office on Wednesday, its Deputy Director, Olusola Sanni, paid glowing tribute to the ex- Vice President, for his enviable attainment in the area of politics, business and also philanthropy. ‘’The former vice president of Nigeria and the Turakin Adamawa, has lived the past seven decades of his life to become a giant in politics, education, business and philanthropy,’’ he said. Remember, that the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, had tactically endorsed Atiku, while felicitating with the former Vice President, on his 70th birthday. In a deft move to make Atiku sellable to the public, Olusola composed: ‘’No doubt, the name Atiku means different things to different classes of people. For the hundreds of indigent students who receive scholarship to have world-class education in his private educational institutions, to the thousands of people he provides employment for in his businesses spread all over the country, Atiku is the mercy of God. ‘’In Adamawa State where he hails, Atiku has proven to the world that charity indeed must begin at home. Against the lure of Lagos, Kano or Onitsha, Atiku has a bold signature on the business landscape of Yola, the capital of Adamawa State and his tentacles spread across all the states in the North-East. ‘’For him, the simple explanation to that is that if the people of the North-East are the most backward in terms of human capital development indices, then it is trite logic that business investment in the region is also an investment in the minds and manpower development of the people of the North-East. http://talkgeria.com/topic/atiku-launches-2019-presidential-ambition-in-full-force/ |
You can see people arguing about animal fats, seed oils and all things in between. But among the few fats that many people concur is healthy is extra virgin olive-oil. This oil, part of the Mediterranean diet, is a traditional fat which has been a nutritional staple for a few of the world’s healthiest populations. There is truly a bit of research behind the health effects of olive oil. These research has shown that the fatty acids and antioxidants inside it have some great health benefits, such as a lower risk of heart disease. Extra virgin olive-oil consists of modest amounts of Vitamins E and K and lots of helpful fatty acids. This is the ietary content of 100 grammes of olive oil: saturated fat, 13.8 per cent; monounsaturated fat, 73 per cent; Omega-6, 9.7 per cent; Omega-3, 0.76 per cent; Vitamin E: 72 per cent, of the RDA; Vitamin K, 75 per cent of the RDA. But where extra virgin olive oil really shines is in its content of antioxidants. These substances are biologically active as well as some of them helps fight severe diseases. Some of the main antioxidants are the anti-inflammatory oleocanthal, as well as oleuropein, a substance that protects LDL cholesterol from oxidation. Lots of people have criticised olive oil for having a high Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio (over 10:1), but remember that the amount of polyunsaturated fats is still relatively low, so this should not be a cause for concern. Olive oil defends against heart disease via numerous mechanisms: Reduced inflammation: As stated before, olive oil protects against inflammation, a key driver of heart disease. LDL cholesterol: Olive oil safeguards LDL particles from oxidative damage – a key step in the heart disease process. Improves Endothelial function: Olive oil enhances the work of the endothelium, which is the lining of the blood vessels. Blood clotting: Some researches suggest that olive oil can help prevent unwanted blood clotting, key features of heart attacks and strokes. Lowers blood pressure: One study in patients with elevated blood pressure found that olive oil reduced blood pressure significantly and cut the need for blood pressure meds by 48 per cent. Given the known biological effects of olive oil, it is not surprising to see that people who consume the most of it are significantly less likely to die from heart attacks and strokes. Other health benefits Although mostly studied for its effects on heart health, olive oil consumption has also been associated with a number of other health benefits. Cancer Cancer is a common cause of death, characterised by uncontrolled growth of cells in the body. Studies have shown that people in the Mediterranean countries have a fairly low risk of cancer and some have speculated that olive oil has something to do with it. One potential contributor to cancer is oxidative damage due to free radicals, but extra virgin olive oil is high in antioxidants that reduce oxidative damage. The oleic acid in olive oil is also highly resistant to oxidation and has been shown to have beneficial effects on genes linked to cancer. Many studies in test tubes have shown that compounds in olive oil can help fight cancer at the molecular level. Whether olive oil actually helps prevent cancer has yet to be studied in human controlled trials. Prevents Alzheimer’s disease Alzheimer’s disease is the world’s most common neurodegenerative disease and a leading cause of dementia. One feature of Alzheimer’s is a buildup of protein tangles called beta amyloid plaques, in certain neurons in the brain. A study in mice showed that a substance in olive oil can help to clear these plaques from the brain. A human controlled trial showed that a Mediterranean diet enriched with olive oil had favourable effects on brain function and reduced the risk of cognitive impairment. Can you cook with it? During cooking, fatty acids can oxidise. That is, they react with oxygen and become damaged. It is mostly the double bonds in the fatty acid molecules that are responsible for this. For this reason, saturated fats (no double bonds) are resistant to high heat, while polyunsaturated fats (many double bonds) are sensitive and become damaged. It turns out that olive oil, which contains mostly monounsaturated fatty acids (only one double bond), is actually fairly resistant to high heat. In one study, researchers heated extra virgin olive oil to 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) for 36 hours. The oil was highly resistant to damage. Another study used olive oil for deep frying, and it took 24 to 27 hours for it to reach damage levels that were deemed harmful. Overall, olive oil seems to be very safe… even for cooking at a fairly high heat. Olive oil is super healthy For people with heart disease or at a high risk of getting it in the future, olive oil is most definitely a “superfood.” However, it is extremely important to get the right stuff. That is, extra virgin olive oil that has not been diluted with cheaper oils. The benefits of this wonderful fat are among the few things that most people in nutrition actually agree on. Now that’s something you don’t see often. http://talkgeria.com/topic/health-benefits-of-olive-oil/

Pope Francis, who happens to be the 266th and present Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, has permitted all priests the power to forgive abortion, a right previously available to bishops in most parts of the world. He declared: ‘I henceforth grant to all priests, in virtue of their ministry, the faculty to absolve those who have committed the sin of procured abortion. ... ‘I henceforth grant to all priests, in virtue of their ministry, the faculty to absolve those who have committed the sin of procured abortion. ... The Argentine Pope made the broadcast in a document called an ‘apostolic letter’ after close of the Church’s ‘Holy Year of Mercy’ on Sunday, expressing that he would like to restate as firmly as he can that abortion is a grave sin, since it puts an end to an innocent life but insisted that there was clearly no sin God’s mercy do not reach and clean away when it finds a repentant heart trying to be reconciled with God. As per Independent report, the adjust would last for at least the rest of his papacy. http://talkgeria.com/topic/pope-francis-grant-all-catholic-priests-power-to-forgive-abortion/ |
Nigeria May Face Famine: The Presidency on Monday informed that Nigeria could encounter famine in January if drastic steps are not implemented now. Nigeria, that is actually Africa’s largest producer of cereals and grains risks famine from early next year as a tremendous demand in the global market is focusing on Nigeria’s surplus production. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu made the gruesome forecast in a radio interview in Kano on Monday. Shehu notified Pyramid radio that the “huge interest in our grains in the global market is building a great environment for the mindless export of Nigerian grains across our borders and unless this is curtailed, Nigerian markets is going to be bereft of food by January next year.” He stated the Ministry of Agriculture has encouraged the President on the need to draw the attention of all Nigerians to the issue which, if not addressed immediately, can lead to decrease of grains in Nigeria by January. He declared: “Over the past year, Providence has blessed Nigeria with a bountiful harvest of grains, more than enough to feed the country as well as to export to abroad. Currently, there is certainly a high demand for grains from Nigeria, from African nations as distant as Libya and Algeria, and from places as faroff as Brazil. “However, the ministry of agriculture has raised concerns about a tremendous rate of exportation, that can lead to insufficient grains in Nigeria by January,” Malam Garba stated. He described that Nigeria presently enjoys a free market situation. “President Muhammadu Buhari is not in any respect opposed to or intent on tampering with that. Although, exporters also have a moral obligation to make their produce available to Nigerians who live within our country’s borders, to make sure that our citizens have accessibility to food,” he added. The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity informed the radio station that the ministry of agriculture estimated that no under 500 trucks laden with grain leave Nigerian markets each week, going for countries outside Nigerian borders. http://talkgeria.com/topic/presidency-warns-nigeria-may-face-famine-in-january/ |
Judgment creditors can freeze your bank accounts then collect leftover debts from the funds in the accounts, as per http://www.nolo.com. When your bank-account is frozen, you can not use your hard earned cash, outstanding cheques would not clear, therefore you may be responsible for bank fees as a result. When creditors freeze your account, it can also be called a bank levy, attachment, or garnishment. A frozen bank account is an account which has been locked and cannot be used to withdraw money, pay cheques, make transfers, or fund your bill pay services. Why is an account frozen?: Generally, an account is frozen because you owe someone money. Your account can be frozen if you have unpaid judgment against you, or if you owe taxes. How are creditors able to freeze my account?: Most creditors will need to get a judgment against you before they are able to freeze your bank account. Once they have a judgment against you, if you have not taken steps to pay the judgment or agreed to a payment schedule for satisfying the judgment, the judgment creditor can request that the court issue an order that directs the bank to freeze your account. These orders are often called garnishments or attachments. Is the entire account frozen or just part?: In most cases, the bank can freeze up to two times the amount that is set out in the garnishment or attachment order. If this exceeds the amount in your account, your entire account will be frozen. If it does not, it will only be partially frozen. Can I continue to make deposits?: You can probably make deposits into the account, but you stand the risk that the new deposits are frozen as well. If the amount in the account at the time it was frozen was less than two times the amount set out in the garnishment or attachment order, the new deposits will likely be frozen. Will I receive advance notice?: It is unlikely that you will receive any advance notice. The bank is required to notify you when it receives the attachment but the account will be frozen by the time you receive the notice. Challenging the attachment: The notice that you receive should set out your rights to object to the attachment and may identify exemptions, which will allow the funds to be released to you. The notice should provide the deadlines for you to object or challenge the attachment and identify the creditor and the case in which the attachment has been issued. In most cases, to challenge the attachment, you will need to file papers with the court telling the judge why you don’t believe the attachment is appropriate. Getting your money back: If you owe the money that the creditor is trying to collect through the attachment, your options are limited. You can contact the creditor or the creditor’s lawyer to see if they will release the attachment. If they won’t, you need to take further action. Dealing with a court order on your account if your creditor has taken court action against you for a debt, they may have got a court order against you. A court order means you have to pay the money back, either in instalments or in full by a certain date, according to www.citizensadvice.org.uk. If you don’t keep to the terms of a court order, your creditor has a number of different options to try and get their money back. If your creditor thinks that you have the money to pay them and are holding it back, or are due to be paid some money, which will cover the debt, they can apply for another court order. This is called a third party debt order. A third party debt order allows your creditor to take the money you owe them directly from whoever has the money. Usually, it is your bank that is holding your money for you. However, if you are due to get a lump sum such as a redundancy settlement, an inheritance or insurance policy pay-out, your creditor can get your employer, solicitor or insurance company to pay the money to them instead of you. They can only take enough money to clear the debt. The kinds of debts that may end up with your creditor trying to get a third party debt order include money owed on personal loans, credit cards, overdrafts or hire purchase agreements. A third party debt order is different from an attachment of earnings order, where your creditor gets a court order to take money from your wages. If your creditor wants to get a third party debt order, they will first apply for a temporary order called an interim third party debt order. This order tells your bank to freeze your account. At this point, your account will be frozen but no money will be paid to your creditor until the judge has decided what to do at the final hearing. http://talkgeria.com/topic/why-your-bank-account-may-be-frozen/ |
The Peoples Democratic Party National Youth Frontiers has talked about the victory of US President-elect Donald Trump as a complete liberation of democratic practice world over. Responding to reporters in Abuja in response to the victory of Mr Trump, Comrade Usman Okai, the National Coordinator of PDPNYF claimed that the victory of Mr Trump is unique to Nigerians, recalling the ignoble role played by the President Barrack Obama administration that obligated President Buhari on the people of Nigeria, the attendant hardship Buhari administration introduced, and even the many anti-African policies of President Obama. He opined that there was clearly connivance by he US government in the direction of the victory of APC in the last general election, which he stated was at full glare for everybody to see. He furthermore declared that the victory of President-elect, Donald Trump has vindicated the general belief and confirmed the behind the scenario activities of the APC and it’s cohorts towards its contrived victory against Dr Good luck Jonathan and PDP in 2015. The PDPNYF stated it is going to assist with all its might the yearning of the new US government to redirect democracies all over the world for a productive and people oriented policies other than the policies of clamping down people in prison all in the name of fighting corruption as exemplified by President Buhari. President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to punish culprits, who smuggled foreign goods into the 2016 budget, and also who triggered both National and International embarrassment, has returned at work, Economic Confidential has revealed. Investigation by the Economic Intelligence Magazine, indicates that the officials who were sanctioned by their deployment outside Federal Ministry of Finance, have since resumed duties at the same Ministry, without the strongly published punishment the President promised, while talking to Nigerians people in Saudi Arabia. Buhari, had in February this current year, while dialogue in Saudi Arabia, threatened to give a punishment to everyone who were included in the padding of the 2016 budget. Aside from the removal of the Director General, DG, Budget Office, and deployment of some Directors and Senior Officials from the Ministry, Buhari furthermore combined the Budget Office, with the Ministry of Planning. Around 15 Senior Officials from other Ministries and also Departments, were placed to the Budget Office, to swap the sanctioned Officials that are recalled to the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation. Other Ministries involved in the un-wholesome attitudes include, although not limited to the Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministry of Education, Health, Agriculture and Rural Development, Trade and Investment, and Interior Ministry. In the meantime, Economic Confidential learnt that there was an unhealthy rivalry between the Ministry of Finance, and the Budget and Planning Ministry, which are under the supervision of Kemi Adeosun, and Udo Udoma respectively, over who should superintend over budget processes, and implementations in the country. The development has no doubt created frictions between the two Ministries, and lack of the needed synergy required by both, to put up a forward looking national budget. In view of these concerns, some departments have been created in the Federal Ministry of Finance, that plays critical roles on budget implementation. The departments include: Cash Management, Special Projects and Technical Services, bringing the total departments in the Ministry, to more than 10. Some of the sanctioned Officials are said to be performing strategic roles on the nation’s economy in these departments. Recall, that President Buhari had vowed that all those involved in the padding of the 2016 Budget, which led to the discrepancies in the document, would face the most severe punishment. He said the alterations, which he described as embarrassing and disappointing, made the document, which was debated in the National Assembly, completely different from what was prepared by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. http://talkgeria.com/topic/world-leaders-set-to-disown-buhari/ |

Based on Amaechi, the President’s investment in Agriculture, Mining, Solid Minerals, and Manufacturing, cannot bring about the required economic self-reliance, if the maritime sector remains a mere appendage The Minister, talking at the special event of the 2016 World Maritime Day, tagged: “Shipping Indispensable to the World”, organized in Lagos, burned out that for Nigeria’s economy to be self-reliant, the Maritime industry, should not remain only appendage in a foreign dominated shipping industry. He mentioned, that government at the Federal level, was devoted to ahelping real investors to gain gain access to to Cabotage Vessel Financing Funds, CVFF. Amaechi stated, “Investment in Agriculture, Mining, Solid Mineral, and Manufacturing, would never produce the needed economic self-reliance if the maritime sector remains merely appendage in a foreign dominated shipping industry. ”Government is equally devoted to helping genuine investors, to access the CVFF, so as to improve investment in ship building, and also repairs,” the Minister explained.
