@ gd, i couldnt follow up your story cos i felt it had too many pointless twists. But i feel i can trust you to weave out a compelling read if you sit with a creative crew of writers where you still exercise creative control.

I wonder why the crisis in zimbabwe would be reduced to a western media gimmick. Afam should face the army of economically displaced zimbabweans drifting into s/a. The other guy mentioned the redistribution of 50% of the country's lush land from the 5% white minority. So much for redistribution ended up in the hands of inefficient black members of the ruling ZANU PF party. Is it only mugabe that has done land redistribution? Mbeki did it in south africa gradually and peacefully. Why is mugabe's own different?
Politics / Re: Mugabe Must Go by initiator(m): 4:17pm On Jun 04, 2007
I'm sick and surprised at some of the comments of the likes of Afam. In an age where Africa contributes just about 2.5% to the global GDP, Africans should start nursing impatience for underperforming leaders not to talk of obsolate and jaundiced ones like Mugabe. If he enjoys popular support why suppress opposition? I wonder when CNN has turned into 21st century studio to start concorting the images of brutalised women and opposition supporters. If Mugabe's land transfer programme has worked why is the price of stapple foods skyrocketting? Mugabe has missedthe opportunity of Mandela's valour by simply playing the statesman. He has turned into an overgrown thug, plunging his nation into the abyss of economic depression. Whether western media bias or not the question are straight: are opposition members hounded in jail (irrespective of wherethey gettheir fund or not?), is the local opposition media suppressedand censored? is the level of inflation according to World bank reports the highest in the world or not?the only thing i agrree with afamon is that zimbabwe is a beautiful country. but then so is sweet honey associated with ugly bee.
TV/Movies / Strip Nta Of Monopoly by initiator(m): 12:17pm On Jun 04, 2007
It is about time NTA is stripped of her network status monopoly. Just like in the US, there are about four major networks: ABC NBC, FOX and CBS. They all compete for viewers. In the UK, the publicly funded (not government owned) BBC does not accept adverts from private companies. Same with DW in germany. So why is it that in Nigeria, the federal government gives subvention to NTA, they collect adverts thereby slugging it out with other private stations to crown it all, they are the only network in the country. While i dont support the exclusive right given to DSTV by foreign stations, i dont support NTA's either!

It's about time a moral powerful circle of african countries seperate themselves from the multitude with despotic father figures like mugabe. These moral minority should begin to admonish and sanction countries like zimbabwe and sudan. African brotherhood/solidarity sentiments should be replaced african standards. The moral burden of bullying bully governments like mugabe's falls on nigeria and south africa but unfortunately naija has a credibility problem with its fraudulent elections while mbeki continues an annoying 'quiet diplomacy' policy.

Obj was bad news. His vibe was so negative. Right now where i live there's no light.
Politics / Mugabe Must Go by initiator(m): 9:18pm On Jun 03, 2007
I saw the picture of a brutalised zimbabwean opposition woman yesterday on CNN. Her backside area was burnt with iron and and a chip of her ear was cut off. Scenes of police men brutalising opposition supporters with was also prevalent. It's a pity that what started as mugabe's quest to reclaim land from white people has degenerated into crass brutality, banning foreign media and the highest inflationary rate in the world. African leaders like mbeki must start telling their fellow leaders the truth and even impose sanctions on beasts like mugabe. We mustnt wait for western countries like the UK to tell admonish our leaders. Mugabe should just GO!!!

Crime / Re: We Are A Nation Filled With Animals ! by initiator(m): 12:09pm On Jun 02, 2007
To generalise Nigerians as animals is so reductionist. However due to poverty and general illiteracy our value on human life's damn low. Check out the number of dead bodies on lagos roads and how people drive by like its nothing. Our failure in civility is not that we are worse than other countries but that unlike other countries, we just dont convert our rage into action.
Career / Re: What Do You Really Love to Do? by initiator(m): 10:12am On Jun 01, 2007
I would just say i have a grand obsession about things. I love the creative process especially powering creative projects in the media and technology sectors to create money and value. I also love to read and interact. I had a stint as a journalist and love writing but it may just wait untill i can afford the peace of mind for it.
Business / Re: Do You Need A Business Partner? by initiator(m): 1:44pm On May 25, 2007
Am embarking on the deployment of kiosks at strategic locations for virtual tour of tourist facilities in the west african coast. I need someone to partner with who's got some knowledge of kiosks and is given to the creative process. There's a 100 per cent ROI within a year. i need someone who's can-do spirit and doggedness would inspire the creative and technical process of deployment. Also if there's one with some capital, you're welcome but terms are negotiable.
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: Help On Advertising Business by initiator(m): 4:26pm On May 24, 2007
the body responsible for regulating advertising practice in Nigeria is APCON located at iganmu. they have an industry-certifying exam that boosts your professional prestige as an ad practitioner. after the certification process you can get into an ad agency after putting up some ad pieces you can use to show or team up with other professionals to float a niche-servicing agency by registering with Advertising Agencies Association of Nigeria (AAAN). Good luck
Business / Re: Partner Needed For A Multimedia Project by initiator(m): 4:15pm On May 24, 2007
@ Teslim, to understand the skill one must understand the technology. The platform am talking about here is kiosks - just like ATM machines. They are machines that interact with the users and help them operate functions such as payment, browsing, and limitless possibilities. Now we've come up with a quite novel idea of providing new services with this machine and i need a technical guy who we would explore the technological options together from the software it would run on to the graphic interface and the animated versions. animation and graphix useage are skill that would be important.

Business / Partner Needed For A Multimedia Project by initiator(m): 5:13pm On May 23, 2007
I need to go into some multimedia kiosk project and would need an entrepreneural partner to power this project with. He should be one who is very into systems and with an eye for creativity, who strives for the wow effect. Familiarity with kiosks or multimedia displays would be an added advantage. Ability to grapple with new and exciting technology would be good. We can power this project together! Please if interested, post a reply or reach me on 08023016353
Business / Re: When You're Broke. What Comes To Your Mind? by initiator(m): 7:24pm On May 15, 2007
being broke is one situation am gradually pulling myself out of and jeeese, its like jail, just that this time it's legal to break out. sometimes it's even easier to be broke. But to be broke and in debt is even worse. Prayer comes in, some desperation comes in and the attraction of a 9 - 5 becomes more tempting. I think it all boils down to lifestyle which is not easy to break off especially when you're socially active. But the good thing's when the kishi comes, it just has to multiply, remembering the memory of where u are coming from. @ teslim thanks a great deal for posting this topic cos it's very real to some of us,
Religion / Re: If The Bones Of Jesus Were Found by initiator(m): 8:52pm On Mar 03, 2007
I saw James Cameron the other day on CNN with yet another spin. With the tragic success of The Davinci Code, scrutiny of the christian faith has become fashionable. He sounded like he was not pushing forward a conclusion but simply raising questions. I wonder how a religion of more than 2,000 years would be subject to scholarly enquiry. Time has already confirmed the faith of christianity, a faith firmly rooted on the principle of the ressurection.
Politics / Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by initiator(m): 4:03pm On Feb 21, 2007
I really wish someone like Jimi Agbaje gets to be governor. He looks fresh. But khai i wouldn't like to see Obanikoro there for any reason. Fashola is under Tinubu's shadow, a man who has championed the cause of "agberos" since his tenure.
