The cost of fuel, the long queues, the black market, its crazy. But labour has to do this, if not tge price wont go down as well as the vat. Its all the fault of that slowpoke at Otta
Politics / Re: Fg Bows To Labour Demands, Reduces Fuel Price, Vat by initiator(m): 12:36pm On Jun 19, 2007
Celtel just sent me a text saying theyve reversed their tarrif according to tge VAT reversal or suspension. This is a good PR move by yaradua. Problem is it'll only be N70 in lagos and abj. In other parts of the country it goes for N100 and more. Lets wait and see.
Travel / Re: Traffic Issues In Lagos. What Can Be Done? by initiator(m): 12:04pm On Jun 19, 2007
Lagos needs a serious plastic sugery, and to carry that out we need someone like el rufai or a strong-willed governor.
Most of the views advocated above are correct but the will to implement is rare. If lagosians dont set a strong urban renewal agenda for fashola, i have a prediction: in few years time there'll be a massive drift away from lagos to other coastal cities like calabar. Its happening globaly (movement to more condusive environs) as in haliburton moving headquaters from texas to dubai. The situation in lagos has reached a point of emergency. In festac where i stay, what was a model fed estate, now has nightmarish roads. Rail system, ferry system, smooth roads, illegal parking of trucks on bridges, dirty streets, disgusting drainage, street hawking, LAGOS NEEDS A GOVERNOR THAT CAN KICK ASS!!!

@ angel101 well done.
At least yaradua has started investigating ehindero since inauguration. For MAMAJAMA to start forecasting military rule after 2 weeks of govt cos his pop didnt get a piece of the action is cheap.

Politics / Re: Super! While others lobby for it, Agbakoba Shuns Ministerial Job by initiator(m): 11:02am On Jun 19, 2007
Hey ayusman16
this issue is not about who won the election, Its about accepting or rejecting an appointment in principle.
Politics / Re: Super! While others lobby for it, Agbakoba Shuns Ministerial Job by initiator(m): 10:33am On Jun 19, 2007
Agbakoba is one lawyer i tremendously respect. How would it be for the NBA chairman who led the NBA to a boycourt over the marred election would sit on the same govt. Agbakoba did the most principled thing. Not every good profesional needs to be in govt. We need voices of decent and there's no better one than the NBA boss.

Am confused as to who's who. But BigB1 if u are not the one he's talking about then kpele.
There was a story on The Nation today saying the rank and file of the police are warning the IG against a cover up of the case. My fear is that this ehindero case could be covered up but lets wait till monday for the investigation results.

No wonder ThisDay's news agenda's changing. They're more soft on the government. Jeez they may just slide out of public favour.
Politics / Re: 10 Houses Traced To Ehindero (All Allegedly Built In 2 Years) by initiator(m): 11:02pm On Jun 15, 2007
So MAMAJAMA and BigB1, una dey use una papa thief theif money dey drink pepper soup and have the guts to tell us to stay out of this. Devil go punish una papa egunje.
Politics / Re: Ehindero Must Be Paraded —keyamo by initiator(m): 5:33pm On Jun 15, 2007
@ denex
your argument doesnt hold water. The police do not parade suspects for public identification. That's a fat fallacy. They parade criminals bare chested, some who confess to crimes. They're usually said to be awaiting trial.
Am not a fan of keyamo but his alarm is to forestall any cover up since ehindero is alleged to have helped rig elections. C'mon this is naija!
Business / Re: Any Possessions You Like To Sell Off? by initiator(m): 12:53pm On Jun 15, 2007
@ seun of course am interested in a site like ebay for nig. But the modalities are quite challenging in this environment especially in terms of transport/payment systems. Whogobuy.com are trying but they're not doing enough in promotion/marketing etc. Its a doable project.

Igbos like other tribes gained nana from the PDP. We are entering an era of competitive democracy where PDP's gotto compete and not sit back and foist leaders against the will of the people.

Politics / Re: Supreme Court Reinstates Peter Obi. Andy Uba To Quit Office by initiator(m): 8:07pm On Jun 14, 2007
When i heard the news my skin harvested goose bumps.
Obi has proved to be the most defining nigerian persona of the decade.

He has sent shivers to all those filthy politicians and confidence to victims like oshiomole, fight steady and invinsible wings would come to your rescue.

Those noble men at the s/court are the most dignified rebels in africa now.
TV/Movies / Re: Why Are Nigerian Cartoons Rare? by initiator(m): 1:23am On Jun 13, 2007

Literature / Re: Africa's Leading Writer by initiator(m): 12:44am On Jun 13, 2007
When it comes to drama, soyinka has it, that's why the nobel committee eluded to his having invented the "drama of existence".

But when it comes to prose achebe rules. He got the knack to make his work both simple and profound. New york times listed his work as one of the top 100 books of the millenium together with ernest hermingway.
Music/Radio / Re: Coldplay Is The Best Band Ever! by initiator(m): 11:31pm On Jun 12, 2007
And hey, placing cyprus hill and coldplay? Thats quite insulting. Damn it coldplay is today's mozart! They even refused to use their song for a coke ad saying mozart couldnt have done dat.
