BraniacX: and correct me if am wrong, before obamacare, and even after obamacare, every life saving medical proceedure is available to every american right? especially those without insurance right?

While not making excuses for the imperfect system that led to the death of kemi and her baby though i know she would have been attended to without money at a goverment hospital but not released until payment is complete, bottom line is, no system and goverment is perfect
\
No hospital Emergency room will deny you treatment with or without insurance.

They will stabilize you, transfer you to a county hospital if it is not emergency.

If emergency, the hospital will treat and bill you later.

According to her sources close to the deceased, the actress Kemi was in and out of labour for several days in a private hospital and when she couldn't give birth the natural way, doctors suggested a C&S, which would cost N450,000 and demanded an initial deposit of N300k before they could proceed.

One of Kemi's friends explained how her husband was unable to raise the money and begged the hospital to proceed with a promise to pay the following day (October 1) but the doctors refused and she gave up the ghost that night..

"Kemi's husband said he would pay the money the next day but the doctor refused and stated categorically that he would not move an inch else he pays 300,000. It was at that point Kemi decided to forward messages to people she knows so she could get help. She got responses that money would be made available to her the next day. On hearing that the husband went to beg the doctors again, still they refused. No bank was opened and nothing could be done until Thursday October 2nd but unfortunately she gave up the ghost that night. My point is, the doctors knew she had to go through emergency C&S. they could have saved her life and get the money later. Nigeria is a very bad country I must confess," her friend said.
And this is the system....life is meaningless.

Police report before a rape victim gets a PEP?
Police report before an accident victim gets treatment?
70% deposit before an emergency surgical procedure?

Well, I hope you carry those millions you made in Nigeria in your car all the time.

With millions in your account, if you cannot access it at the right time, you will die a horrible death.

So, it is not about money. Nigeria is a f@cked up system. KEMI died a "painful" death.

Some people dont even know the meaning of irreconcilable differences. Because folks use that phrase when it comes to splitting relationships. Therefore every tom edo and harry use it.....repugnant
/
You are the one that don't understand what it means.

In USA, there are some states that have "no fault" divorce. That is, the court does not want to hear stories of una life.

So, they have "irreconcilable differences" as one of the options in the divorce paper checkbox as a legal reason for divorce.

Therefore, it is path of least resistance for couples who do not want to go into mudslinging. Refer to Item 6 on the form attached below.

And that, my friend, is why every "tom edo and Harry" use it.

NB: This is based on the assumption that she filed for divorce in Texas (her hubby's state of residence)

ZERKNICHTER: to everyone who wants to take part on this dicussion but dont know how to write a proper post; this is how u do it:

a good post consists of 3 parts

1. the insult
- pick a random gut with a diffenrent opinion and insult him
- in this part your own creativity is needed but it is importend to to deny him any kind of responsibility and success
- in case u have no idear what to call him go with the standard: asylum seeker or just stupid loser

2. the argument
- this is the easest part; u just have to copy a random argument mentioned in the 25 pages before because everything has been said
- maybe change some words to make it more individual

3. the proof
- now add a story of a random guy u have heard of to proof your argument
- if your story is not convincing engough, change or add something
- in exceptional cases u can tell your own story instead

experienced poster might try to mix the 3 parts but thats not recommended for a beginner!!!

happy debating to everyone grin

It's kinda hard not to believe you are intellectually challenged... I asked you this question and here it is again

1. If it wasn't corruption that has eaten into the fabric of our system, please tell me why "Wealthy" men and women send their children abroad?

2. If it wasn't corruption, why will politicians travel abroad on medical checkup? The wealthy men and women travel abroad? Where is the fate in your local hospital?

3. If it wasn't corruption, why do you lack the MOST BASIC amenities found in other countries...

4. Why do wealthy men and women, even our so called entertainers your reference travel abroad to deliver their kids if not to give their children that opportunity?

[size=16pt]5. Why does your children have RED PASSPORT?

So much for Nigerian patriotism; now think again and then come back with good answers.

Who said you have to be in Nigeria to save/build Nigeria?
Public policies in Israel is being influenced by Jews outside Israel.
In 2013, Nigeria's budget = $31.63bn. In the same year (the recorded) annual remittance by diaspora Nigerians = $21 bn. Without diaspora Nigerians, most of you will be dead. How many of you are getting your school fees, rent and living expenses sent from abroad? And you have the balls to come here and talk.

Yep. That house you live in and paying rent is probably owned by someone living outside the shore. I have houses in Nigeria and some of you that cannot even raise N1m are here claiming to own and love Nigeria more than some of us that have more at stake in Nigeria because you physically live there. Give me a break!

I am not sad that GEJ is contesting in 2015.

I am only sad that there are no viable opponents.

All the good candidates have turned to sycophants.

And the alternatives? Buhari and Atiku! Naaa!
Thanks but no thanks!

GEJ till eternity sounds very familiar. Think about IBB, Abacha, OBJ. People campaigned for their continuity and said the exact same things they are saying about GEJ now. The sycophants made their money Snd the rot continued.

So go on. Love GEJ because political jobbers told you so. Thunder will fire anyone that comes after the election to complain about the incompetence and ineptitude of GEJ.

No work, no pay. Simple as that.

If I may ask, what's with this trend of owing salaries in arrears in Nigeria? How can someone work without being paid for up to 6 months?

I guess they will feed their families and meet basic financial obligations with "patriotism" as someone postulated in a previous thread in which he queried the rationale for abandoning ship in Nigeria.

First problem na to find work. Second problem ns to get paid for services rendered. Employees are at the mercy of their employers with no repercussions for nonpayments. How can someone organize his/her life in such predicament? It is not as if the fund is not there. Someone just nonchalantly decided to sit on people's destinies because there are no oversights nor strict penalty for non-adherence to policies--Man's wickedness to fellow man. I don't even want to delve into pensioners' wahala.

Still wondering why we hate to love Nigeria? There you have it.

mrmetoo1: I like that you lived in Nigeria for 10 months before coming to the conclusion. I'll say at least you tried and you couldn't achieve what you set out for (not talking financial). I haven't done 10 months yet so who knows whats going to happen in about a month or two, I could be singing a different tune but as for right now so far so good. Now if I have to leave to move back, I hope not, I doubt I'll go back there telling people not to move back I think I'll just share my experience and tell them what to look out for and be prepared for.

But for every person that came and left, is someone who has settled in well and is doing fine. I just don't believe in the "everyone should leave" thing and "you're stupid" if you decide to move back.
/
The fact is that everyone has different level of tolerance.

In my case, I got frustrated because the things I used to take for granted became luxury while in Nigeria.
So you know, I left Nigeria when I was 19. I attended Secondary School and then moved to ABU, Zaria for 1 year before I left Nigeria.
So, I am talking as someone who has witnessed both worlds.

My biggest issue was the concept of time. Appointments do not mean much because most people do not keep to time. Blame other factors (hold up, TP, ego, etc) too. Someone has to be paid unofficially to get anything done.

As I stated, I drove myself. And I very well knew that if we ever got into an accident, we are "gonners!". So I had to teach the two individuals that go with a crash course on Basic Life Support (CPR). And in some situations where we had security details with us, I made sure everyone went through the training because you never know. Things like these I would worry less of where I live now.

N3k minimum to power generator daily? And at the end of the month, the PHCN bill would come in and they expected payment. Payment for no light?

One peculiar thing about Nigeria is that once you make money, the first thing is to imprison yourself--(high wall with barbed wires).

What I do not understand is why Nigerians equate criticism to enmity. People criticize because they care. A lot of folks "mouthing off" here still live under the care of their parents, so they will never understand. But reality will set in when they graduate and life in Nigeria throws them a curve ball.

mrmetoo1: You not wanting to move back to Naija is your choice, again the problem I keep having is when you guys make it seem you're smarter than the people you left here or are somehow better than them. I don't know what your situation was to get abroad but I doubt it was because you had this amazing idea of how to improve everyone's life in the US. You probably went to the embassy like thousands of people and were lucky enough to be granted visa.

With what you're saying about no company being able to match your pay, I definitely wasn't interested in coming back and getting hired by some company. I came here for my own thing, not a lot of companies can match my pay as well. I was working for one of the coded government contractors in the US so I was being paid well but I saw an opportunity here and I took it.
My wife too is here and not working for anyone, she's lucky enough to have a job where she works from home so she just brought it down here. At the same time, she has started to work on building a company here in Naija
/
I don't get your drift. You live in Nigeria? Great! I travel to Nigeria at least twice in a year. So what's your point?
I do it for business purposes only. I hate flying when inside the country. So I drive myself everywhere I go. Such expedition offers me the
opportunity to see some aspects of life in Nigeria that you may not see from your comfortable abode in whatever city you live.

And talking of reasons for doing things, will it surprise you that the reason some men prefer to live in the village is because the village provides them unlimited supply of widows? So you see..the same way those men believe they have very good reasons to stay put, you and only you know why you relocated.

I was in Nigeria for about 10 months in 2010. I compared and contrasted and came to the realization that the place is not for me. Most people that visit Nigeria do have filial affiliation there. For me, none of my immediate family members live there. Thank God!

If the OP had the opportunity to better himself and refused to grab it, then whoever is sitting on his destiny is stronger than he would love to acknowledge.

And as stated before...to pack up and go and live there? HELL to the NO!

And for you mrmetoo1, I wish you good luck and stay safe.

My point was if they had the "abandon ship" mentality then they won't even bother because they were doing well over there.

So you're in Naija now?
/
What are the odds?

Dangote lives in Nigeria. But you cannot use that yardstick to measure the life of an average Nigerian.

You cannot pay me enough to move back to Nigeria. For one, I don't know of any company that will be willing to match my monthly income even after taxes.

I will continue to visit Nigeria about twice a year but just for the heck of it. But to live there...not gonna happen. It is not about money. I guess I cherish sanitation and "sanctity" more than anything else.

Someone mentioned Linda ikeji and Range Rover sports. I am sorry if you think being able to afford RR means that one has made it. Take a closer look at that Linda ikeji's picture. Do you see the background of that picture and how dirty and unkept it looks? And you call that life?

I think it is idiotic for anyone who has an opportunity to leave Nigeria to stay back. Even if not for financial reasons, at least to update your life.

Take a closer look at the environment you live in and tell me if that's where a human being should be living. For those that will mention maitama, Lekki, V.I, etc.just know that exceptions do not make the rules.

Nigeria is too dirty for human habitation. I don't care how much you have in your account. Every thing that makes life worth living is a luxury in Nigeria--clean air, good healthcare, electricity, clean water, etc.

OP you f@cked up big time. Blind patriotism is deadly. The ones who are gaming the system understand this and are busy building their castles anywhere but in Nigeria. You will see the light when you leave that country.

Hahaha.

Blacks are equal to Whites?

In a country of millions of acclaimed professors and engineers, Nigeria even though lacking in critical thinking capabilities, cannot use reverse engineering like the Chinese and Iranians to build their own weapons.

Continue running around licking the a.sses of the West, when push comes to shove, they will protect their own.

Nigerians think that because they think very little of themselves that other countries do too. Can't you see the surprise on Nigerians faces when some nations protect their interests because such patriotism is alien to Nigeria?

I still cannot fathom out what gives Nigerians the wrong impression that any country really cares about them. Everyone is in this game for their selfish ends. Don't blame the player, blame the game. It is saddening that the "educated-to-feel-inferior" leaders in Nigeria are playing a game which rules they do not understand.

If anything, the Ebola crisis should have taught Nigerians that if you do not help yourself, no one would. Did the victims get cured with western Zmap? No! We had to improvise when USA refused to yield in releasing the medication. And we survived. That's what brain is made for--thinking.

I will continue to laugh...

I beg to differ.

The ladies in question actually got their priorities right.

Getting married is not an end by itself. It means that the ladies want uninterrupted progression in their lives. I will give you some examples. Okonjo iweala, Hillary Clinton, Lt. Dora Akunyili, Diezani Madueke, etc. are all married and still reached the pinnacles of their careers. Some of them are grandmothers which means that they married about the time they graduated from university.

So, getting married post graduation has no correlation with ambition. Some have it. Others do not.

And when she is single and successful, guess who would constantly berate her spinsterhood? YOU!!!!

Ask Rita Dominic, Genevieve and Linda Ikeji.

One thing about some Nigerians is that they read books, cram texts and pass--bingo! They claim to be educated.

If you are a good student of history, you will know that top mafians, drug lords and scammers (even 419ers) engage in humanitarian
services a lot. They give to charity, pay tuition for the underprivileged, build houses for the poor, and other numerous good works
they embark on. Lawrence Anini used to throw bags of money at people after bank heists. Remember?

Therein lies your problem #1: You expect a lot from Nigerians! Well, my friend in dealing with Nigerians on religious issues, you need to set the bar very very very low.
