For some of us that are getting worried over our fudamentally sound stocks that has failed to appreciate even with fantastic results (NB, UBN, etc) i will suggest you hold on to what you have cause by the time it will start a run, even AP no go see their backs. This small nominal value madness in neglect of fundamentally sound stocks will not last. By the time peeps realize their folly, maybe FBN will be selling for N190. The market has a way of correcting itself. Check out a situation where stocks that we know little about has been shooting up for no reasons at all? While any body you tell to buy UBA and others will tell you no, it is 'expensive' I better buy ten units of the worst insurance stock. This is reason, standing on its head. |
Money eh! One rich man I met in his house, the guy don hammer for one stock for NSE. He just came into his house after cashing the cheque and sat down in his house and was giggling foolishly at the wall where his telly used to be. When I came in and asked why he was laughing, he told me he was watching Jay Leno on the telly. I was the one that told him the telly was taken into the bedroom, cause I was in his house before then. When I left him he was still starring at the wall and smiling. This NSE sef! |
@ ijogbon, you are welcome from reading those furious pages, on weekends here the gurus go out to have some fun. How else could they enjoy their NSE loot than to také some time off and relax, sipping some smooth gin and juice. Posting activities will commence in ernest from this night, in preparation for next week's action. You can see all the heavy weight are absent, resting their feet and probably laughing their head off at some comic joke (you sabi say rich peeps always laugh at the slightest provocation, even laughing at nothing! But poor peeps frown at the funniest jokes, irony of money.) |
@V2, the repayment plans as they told me is like splitting the whole interest into twelve, and then paying it every month until in finishes. |
@K2, they said the minimum will be one mil. Also they have a restriction as to the type of stocks you could buy. But that is not a problem as there are very good selections I could see there. |
This week I was offered a loan by FBN for 19%. The colateral I will bring along is only 20% of the entire amount. But still am not comfortable with something in their term and conditions. They told me that as I will be bringing in only 20% of the money, the margin call will be made to me when the portfolio loses about 20% of its value. It is established that a nice stock selection these days will hardly lose 20% easily, but who can tell tomorrow. Lets break it down a bit, I bring like 20 mil and will be given another 80 mil to make it 100 mil, then I will be allowed to trade with the entire 100 mil so far as the value of the entire portfolio at any point does not depreciate to 80 mil. If that unfortunate scenario happens, I will be called to fill up the margin, meaning that I should scout around and bring up 20 mil to make it up. I will also be servicing the interest monthly. It was nice talking with them. Other banks offer same service only that their terms is for 30%. This is for the information of the risky at heart, see how this info will assist you. |
I am interested in learning to trade forex, not because they always tell me its the largest currency market in the world, but because some things are worth knowing. My only scare is, how can a lay man trade forex sucessfully when he probably doesnt own a computer of his own, lives with epileptic power supply (if any light at all) and has no time to sit on the computer (probably keeping a day job or business? Are these things suited for the ordinary Nigerians? The hype is too much and yet they tell me there is more money in Forex than stock market, but for who, the rich or the rest of us? |
Well, am on that Dunlop flight. Hopped in with a lot of luggage at N5.01 and has N10 as exit price, not particularly in a hurry to disembark. Am cool this time. |
@ allcorrect, you better wait for IEI to trend down a bit, then buy more and average down your purchase price. |
Seriously I was into discussion with some friends, will pull money together and buy Onwuka high tech and turn around the dead company. Does anyone know if mr Onwuka is still alive and what is still tying this company down @0.10k? We know of stories where companies that are under lock and key is doing 11 naira. Make una no finish the shares before I start buying or there will be a big hostile takeover battle between me and anyone who tries to tiff this golden hen from my hand. Abi una think say I no wan be chairman of a board? |
Nigerians wouldnt even think about it but believe me, if ABC comes out with a 24 naira PO even after doing one for N1 two years later, the offer will be oversubscribed. Too much money around these days, that is why the stock prices are rising like they are on fertilizers. |
@ roland, ask your broker or a relative to scan and send the form to you, you may send it back after signing it. |
The trouble with CICO is that you never get to know when things will také a turn, everyone including our own dear windy, who was telling us of the 16 mil bid for ABC was taken completely unawares by this turn. Well more surprises will happen tomorrow, remember the herd mentality in the market. |
Naija is moving forward na! All the roads around where I live are under reconstruction, all new roads, lets start from there first. |
@Da junta, there are no more penny stocks on the NSE, check out for Naira stocks. |
Confusions from the floor. There may be up to five 'official' pricelists today. |
@loma, you mean the interim prices? |
@windy, I am starting to think that the investing public are not happy with what IBTC announced so the huge volume and eventual price loss. Dont you think this scenario will play out in many other banks since december is still very far away? I am wary of buying more bank stocks. |
Thanks pumping for seeing things my way, the one that pains me is going back into companies I sold at double the price I sold. Just two days after I sold cornerstone ins and the yeye stock started an upward trend that pushed it nearly 50%, was I mad about that? I will be leaving all CICO for two months plus, not too fast anymore. Another problem will be baring myself from going back to a particlar stock just because I sold too early and the bull just wants to start on that one. Painful sometimes. |
This short timing sef! Or maybe its still too early to complain but I started the year by fixing a particular list of stocks as a long term portfolio to review it by end of Dec 2008. Then I made another list of the same stocks and started practicing all types of CICO, RORO, SIRO etc and has been making fantastic returns, sometimes 30% on some stocks, excellent fast moves as I thought. Today something told me to review my activities so far and compare the value of my two portfolios. Lo and behold, my long term no trading side has done 42% this two months, while my fast CICO portfolio is trailing and is only 18% up, haba I dey go up or am I going down? Is commisions for frequent trades to blame? Is it too early to complain? My broker is an angel in all these, selling and buying like he is Musa Al farki! What has I done wrong or do I change tacticts this early in the year? Bought Leventis and UTC around 3.85 each and jumped out around 6, now see all the money I left on the table. All the CICO experts , you better talk nowoo or dont you guys compare two portfolios to know which system works and which dont? |
@Gees, yes na! Do you still believe all these billions used the play the markets are local money? Some white folks are sneaking around in this country buying themselves good shares. Always see one in my brokers office every two days. We better move up before the start hostile takeovers in our local companies. For me, I will be holding down some good qty till every stock will see N20. |
@ hardmoney, this enquiry about some white men coming in seems a little out of place to me. Why not tell them toslip into the country unnoticed and stay in Lagos to conduct their meetings as there are thousands of other whites there. They coult slib in and out of Nier delta and do their business quietly. Since they will hire security, no wahala go dey as additional cover dey. Every country has its own issues so lets not see the naija delta issue as a major deterrent to business. Search the web for Nigerian tourism and business websites and ask of security. Others wey dey sneak into this country since are still alive , so no fears. |
frankiriri:My man Frank, true we need each other. Let the selfless spirit continue here, we all will be better for it. And for those silent readers that are not confident enough to post their own observations and analysis, pls I urge you to post something, even if it is rumors. We all will learn from it no matter how insinificant it may seem. Once again we appreciate the sacrifice of the 'gurus'. |
CSL is offering better services than some others from my own point of view. @ nepa lova, mail john.ogar@firstcitygroup.com with your complaints. |
@ACL, am also watching Afroil, will enter when it bottoms out say be week ending. @windy, thanks for the storm warning on AIICO, folks has gone to sleep on that one thinking that Xmas lasts till february! Well some may like to see the end of it all. |
On a lighter note, I saw father of 2 today around Alaba area as the guy dey shop for big big calculators to check his NSE loot. Na so the guy dey use hand solve mathematics on the air as he dey waka. The guy no see me sha cause I dey invisible. @Father, if I dey lie make you come tell us na! No be you wear blue shirt with striped tie this afternoon? |
@ crazy T, if I were you I will leave my ABC till next week. There might be a slight pull back in sight for the company share price but it will go up again. Learnt they had a good year. Besides if you sell and run, do you have a ready selected company to invest the money? Or hang with the money. |
@blueband, guys dey shack beer here true true, I was at a function yesterday, a marriage ceremony and see as drinks were flowing like water. How NB no go make profits? See the high stach of beer cases, fear catch me o. More drinks for all man na! Madam, one one round the forum table, I go pay. Where father of2, one bottle for you.(NB products only) |

All the explanation they are giving about UBA still hovering around the 50 naira mark is seeming like a wrong one. This bank with very good fundamentals has refused to rise. I intended a CICO but the thing is lasting too long to be a CICO candidate anymore. Someone just called to tell me that NB made some fantabulous profits, the figures are closely guarded but investors will have reasons to smile big. |
More info from bigboylarry's crystal ball. It says Union homes will be bullish this week. (Nearly broke the thing this afternoon) how the hell did it not tell me that RT briscoe price will stagnate today. |
@ aktopgun, my guy I no dey vex o, only that the sharing spirit we have been enjoying here is being threatened by a few ppl. Lets continue to help each other, in fact I consider this my own way of giving back to society, making youths learn some tricks for free. |
