He is the Olu of Itsekiri and not the Olu of Warri, as there is a Supreme Court ruling reverting the misapplied title of Olu of Warri, which is a misnomer, to.the Olu of Itsekiri on the death of the last but one Olu in the person of the late Ogiame Atuwatse. The correct and appropriate title of the newly installed Olu, is the Olu of Itsekiri. Thank you. |
Uncivilised barbarians and illiterates who kill and eat wildlife willy nilly. Conservation and protection is not in their book. Crazy lot. Where are these people's sense of pride in the preservation of nature, and the absolute revulsion at eating just any animal? Nothing seems to be out of bounds these days. Shameful indeed. |
Shakara Oloje - by Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Baba 70. The abami eda himself. R. I. P. Olufela Anikulapo Kuti, the legend. A true son of Africa. The song as my ringtone brings back priceless sweet memories of good days gone by. |
haibe:Your "domestic animal" is still a dangerous animal that can kill and maim without any reason other than on inbred instinct as a wild but tame animal. Remember, your Alsatian dog, "bingo" or jack" is a tame Wolf that can turn around and maul you or your loved one to death in an instant. Sound qualitative education is priceless, spend some time and money to acquire it for better understanding of the matter being talked about. |
WarRLaY:I shudder at the thought of me trying to reason with and educate someone with such immature and underdeveloped mind like yourself,. Yes, there are laws protecting wildlife in Nigeria. The problem with the country and its citizens is that the enforcement of such laws, like most laws in the country is next to nothing and is exactly why there's pervasive wanton lawlessness everywhere. Please educate yourself, and learn more about issues before jumping headlong into drawing conclusions. I would gladly protect and redirect such harmless and magnificent creature elsewhere where it poses no harm to man where it can live and breathe the same air in peace, just like you, a one-grain brain ignorant buffoon . By the way, I live in a country and society where nature and wildlife are admired and valued for their beauty, and the enrichment of the lives of the people and society as a whole. |
So backward and uneducated in Nigeria and Africa about conserving and protecting nature and other inhabitants of our ecosystem. That was a non poisonous reticulated python that was simply doing what comes as second nature to it, hunt for food, that those illiterates ignorantly killed and ate. What cruelty, what a shame, what revulsion?! Europeans, Asians and other races and societies conserve whereas Africa and its horde of ignoramus citizens and peoples only know how to maim, kill, consume and destroy. |

Simple really. There are tonnes and million gullible mugs out there to fund his lavish lifestyle in the forms of tithes and search for utopia in the name of "religion and salvation". |

Tashamania: Just one night inside the freedom of the seas, just one nightMy dear, try one week on P&O's latest cruise ship Britannia, it's sheer beauty on the sea. Freedom of the seas is highly rated as well, check www.cruisecritic.co.uk for further details. |
@op, you missed adding P&O's Ventura and Azurra, the two heavyweights in P&O's fleet of ships. Sailed on Ventura from the Port of Southampton on a 14 day cruise around the Western Mediterranean last year from 2nd May - 14th May 2013, it was a holiday like none, the best in my lifetime so far. What you have in cruise ships are basically floating luxurious five star hotels on the high seas. Luxurious, exhilarating experiences at different ports of call like Barcelona, Malaga, Civitavecchia, Cannes, Gibraltar and others made it a worthwhile holiday of a lifetime. A world cruise, or a fly cruise round Asia-Australia will be a dream come true holiday, God willing. My fellow countrymen and women, try a cruise holiday and you'll marvel at the beauty of our home called planet earth. It sure is a relaxing way to have a holiday break. Recommend it 1000% any day, any time. Find the time and money and enjoy it with family or spouse, one life, live it to the max I say. |
In Urhoboland, (UVWIE), a child, whether born in or out of wedlock belongs to the father as long as he accepts paternity, and or whether the mother acknowledges him as the father of the child. The child will bear or answer to his surname, however, the shame of the mother of the child's bride price not haven been paid is a form of stigma on both the father and mother of the child which alone is a form of social sanction, which does not limit or diminish his role and rights as the father. All the man's children, whether born in or out of wedlock, have equal rights and access to the man and his property when alive or deceased as their is no child classed as "BASTARD" in Urhoboland, specifically in ( UVWIE-URHOBO). |
At last, Levy has come to his senses by sacking clueless Andrea Villas-Boas, a.k.a, AVB or Ain't Very Bright. He should had been allowed to stay, to take them to the Ryman's league or the Conference League. Harry Redknapp would have done better with the crop of players at this mugu's disposal. He probably lost his job last week or two when he had a pop at Lord Sugar! That singular immature response sealed his faith. Not that it mattered anyway, as he didn't half know what he was doing most of the time. The sad case for Harry was that he gambled on getting the England job and lost out. The end story is, don't mess with Daniel Levy. |
Visitor bond scheme to be scrapped by government Home Secretary Theresa May announced the proposal in June Plans for a £3,000 "security bond" for some "high risk" overseas visitors to the UK are to be abandoned, the Home Office has confirmed. www.bbc.co.uk/news |
Girl, I feel your pain. I did not burn or tear my Nigerian passport, it ended up in River Thames on my way home from their previous Consular office on Fleet Street in London. I, as a man was almost reduced to tears at the unprofessional and inhumane treatment that I received from those uncaring and unfeeling incompetent officials. I feel no qualms travelling with the red passport, stress free in applying for and receiving it. Travelling anywhere is also stress and suspicion free, no extra questioning and unwanted undeserved searching and grilling on account of being a Nigerian and a green passport holder. Oluwakemi, I feel for you. I can only empathise with you in your unfortunate plight |
Blimey, the boy in the green vest with some lost teeth is just a near-perfect image of his late legendary grand-father, the one and only Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, the great son of Africa. Handsome boys, pretty little girl. Happy fatherhood Femi. |

omo_to_dun: LOL. Dey deceive yourself. God is probably drinking palm wine with Jesus Christ while laughing at you blokes. Other countries are busy trying to better themselves economically and you lots are busying shouting and praying to God. O ma seun o.Awon ode dede. Pray and bow to the white man's God, get brain-wahed into being crude minded zombies. Look at China today with no such mumbo-jumbo religious nonsense doing well. Where has religion and this constant bible bashing taken us? The very edge of hopelessly irredeemable poverty in the midst of plenty. |
omo_to_dun: Yes I was raised in a Christian family but I am no longer a Christian. From the accounts in the Bible, my description of Jehovah is apt. He is bias, evil, and capricious. Did you know that Jehovah hated Esau even before he was born? Haba! His favorite people are the Jews so folks like you are second class citizens. His children suffered for 400 years in Egypt before He sent Moses to deliver them. When His children worshiped idols, he burned them to death. When Saul refused to completely destroy a village (including women and children), as ordered by God, God was so angry with him that he sent an evil spirit to torment him. But when David took another man's wife and sent the man to war to die, God promised to visit David's iniquities upon future generations instead of David. There are so much I could write, but this is not the definition of a loving God. This is a deeply disturbed creature. No wonder Nigeria is in shambles. An evil people serving an evil being.Thank you very much. Same here. Was a catholic church altar boy mass-server and a minister of the eucharist but look arond you today, what do you see? The prophetic words of that legendary musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti coming to pass daily in the country. Yet my ignorant people revel in worshipping a faceless, unforgiving, so called Christian Abrahamic foreign God delivered onto our shores forcefully, by way of conquest and slavery. |

Reference: All, local champs. How they would have fared against other tongues, styles, coaches, no one knows so can't be compared. We're talking about the best of Africa. What is your yardstick for measuring "local champs" or otherwise? Is it and unless they plied their trade for some fanciful European club, then a true well deserving son of Africa should not be recognised for being one of the best of the continent of Africa? |
And the baby who compiled this dared to miss out Emmanuel Okala of Nigeria, "the giant".The best and first goalkeeper to win African footballer of the year in 1978. |

oraclefemi: Nigerians and especially yorubas will never appreciate this man until he his gone, you complained about him so much , now you have Jonathan your breathe of fresh air with no ballsThank You very much oraclefemi. Very well said. Like or loathe him for all his human frailties; he is still "The best President" that Nigeria has had so far, the only one with guts and the best record of achievements and legacies till date. |

Jose Mujica: The world's 'poorest' president By Vladimir Hernandez BBC Mundo, Montevideo Continue reading the main story In today's Magazine The strange art of death The myth of breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 questions on code and ciphers The Monitor It's a common grumble that politicians' lifestyles are far removed from those of their electorate. Not so in Uruguay. Meet the president - who lives on a ramshackle farm and gives away most of his pay. Laundry is strung outside the house. The water comes from a well in a yard, overgrown with weeds. Only two police officers and Manuela, a three-legged dog, keep watch outside. This is the residence of the president of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, whose lifestyle clearly differs sharply from that of most other world leaders. President Mujica has shunned the luxurious house that the Uruguayan state provides for its leaders and opted to stay at his wife's farmhouse, off a dirt road outside the capital, Montevideo. The president and his wife work the land themselves, growing flowers. This austere lifestyle - and the fact that Mujica donates about 90% of his monthly salary, equivalent to $12,000 (£7,500), to charity - has led him to be labelled the poorest president in the world. "I may appear to be an eccentric old man... But this is a free choice." "I've lived like this most of my life," he says, sitting on an old chair in his garden, using a cushion favoured by Manuela the dog. "I can live well with what I have." His charitable donations - which benefit poor people and small entrepreneurs - mean his salary is roughly in line with the average Uruguayan income of $775 (£485) a month. All the president's wealth - a 1987 VW Beetle In 2010, his annual personal wealth declaration - mandatory for officials in Uruguay - was $1,800 (£1,100), the value of his 1987 Volkswagen Beetle. This year, he added half of his wife's assets - land, tractors and a house - reaching $215,000 (£135,000). That's still only about two-thirds of Vice-President Danilo Astori's declared wealth, and a third of the figure declared by Mujica's predecessor as president, Tabare Vasquez. Elected in 2009, Mujica spent the 1960s and 1970s as part of the Uruguayan guerrilla Tupamaros, a leftist armed group inspired by the Cuban revolution. He was shot six times and spent 14 years in jail. Most of his detention was spent in harsh conditions and isolation, until he was freed in 1985 when Uruguay returned to democracy. Those years in jail, Mujica says, helped shape his outlook on life. Continue reading the main story Tupamaros: Guerrillas to government Left-wing guerrilla group formed initially from poor sugar cane workers and students Named after Inca king Tupac Amaru Key tactic was political kidnapping - UK ambassador Geoffrey Jackson held for eight months in 1971 Crushed after 1973 coup led by President Juan Maria Bordaberry Mujica was one of many rebels jailed, spending 14 years behind bars - until constitutional government returned in 1985 He played key role in transforming Tupamaros into a legitimate political party, which joined the Frente Amplio (broad front) coalition Uruguay profile "I'm called 'the poorest president', but I don't feel poor. Poor people are those who only work to try to keep an expensive lifestyle, and always want more and more," he says. "This is a matter of freedom. If you don't have many possessions then you don't need to work all your life like a slave to sustain them, and therefore you have more time for yourself," he says. "I may appear to be an eccentric old man... But this is a free choice." The Uruguayan leader made a similar point when he addressed the Rio+20 summit in June this year: "We've been talking all afternoon about sustainable development. To get the masses out of poverty. "But what are we thinking? Do we want the model of development and consumption of the rich countries? I ask you now: what would happen to this planet if Indians would have the same proportion of cars per household than Germans? How much oxygen would we have left? "Does this planet have enough resources so seven or eight billion can have the same level of consumption and waste that today is seen in rich societies? It is this level of hyper-consumption that is harming our planet." Mujica accuses most world leaders of having a "blind obsession to achieve growth with consumption, as if the contrary would mean the end of the world". Mujica could have followed his predecessors into a grand official residence But however large the gulf between the vegetarian Mujica and these other leaders, he is no more immune than they are to the ups and downs of political life. "Many sympathise with President Mujica because of how he lives. But this does not stop him for being criticised for how the government is doing," says Ignacio Zuasnabar, a Uruguayan pollster. The Uruguayan opposition says the country's recent economic prosperity has not resulted in better public services in health and education, and for the first time since Mujica's election in 2009 his popularity has fallen below 50%. This year he has also been under fire because of two controversial moves. Uruguay's Congress recently passed a bill which legalised abortions for pregnancies up to 12 weeks. Unlike his predecessor, Mujica did not veto it. Instead, he chose to stay on his wife's farm He is also supporting a debate on the legalisation of the consumption of cannabis, in a bill that would also give the state the monopoly over its trade. "Consumption of cannabis is not the most worrying thing, drug-dealing is the real problem," he says. However, he doesn't have to worry too much about his popularity rating - Uruguayan law means he is not allowed to seek re-election in 2014. Also, at 77, he is likely to retire from politics altogether before long. When he does, he will be eligible for a state pension - and unlike some other former presidents, he may not find the drop in income too hard to get used to. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20243493 |
NYgirl: Mrkels or whatever it is that u call urself, its really unfortunate dt a "human being"(n i use dt term loosely) such as urself could ever justify this in any way. My family has been visited by men of the underworld twice n trust me when i tell u dt it was a really horrible experience n we r still traumatised up till now. If those robbers that robbed us were caught n about to be lynched, i would fight against it cos thats what makes me a human. How can u call urself a person n watch a person being killed brutally n gloat. What separates u from a beast in d jungle then? U cannot forgive them but later u pray n want God to forgive u ur own sins, how possible do u think that is going to be? What if it were ur own brother who was lynched n he was innocent or even guilty, would u be here spewing all these crap coming out of that hole u call a mouth? Would it f***ing kill u to show some empathy for ur fellow being. How would u like it if it were u being killed n u know u r innocent but d mob aint listening n r hellbent on seeing u burn. U know dt all it takes to set off d mob is to shout "ole", "thief", n its on n they never ask questions, what if somebody u have offended does that to u n u r the mob's mercy n no one comes to ur aid?. Vengeance is mine, says d Lord. I really do hope u change ur mindset, cos if pple like u r d kind of pple we r breeding in nigeria, then we might as well burn dt country to d groundThanks a lot for this deep insightful post. Tell it to that animal and his blood-thirsty ilk. Debasement of humanity, revolting. |
